If you are willing to aid these children, we would be freed up to help with the defense of your compound. It would be a small price that we would gladly pay.

Diplomacy 1d20 ⇒ 1

Edit: Wow. We'll be lucky if they don't lynch us! Hopefully our arguments are more persuasive than we are. Do we get a +2 circumstance bonus for each filthy munchikin in tow?

2nd Edit: DM, when I made my previous edit, it altered the dice roll. The original roll was a 1. It looks like Gary just about has this fixed for us.

The horror of moving goalposts! ;) But yeah, the guys running this site are really good about getting stuff like that sorted out quickly - kudos all round!

Male Human Monk 2

Avanti will advance forward and pay of the formalities Greetings, I am Avanti. You people should recognize me since used to come here time to time with my master. I have a favor to ask from you. Please, we are looking for a haven for the children who are with us indicating at children on wagon and hope that you could take care of them for now. We have money to pay for it and as my friend Krenn suggested, we could help with defense of your compound... although we have more urgent mission at this moment

Diplomacy1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3 (+2 friends of HK... but seems like they dont care... meh)

Master of Gaming and Grognardia Current map

Was trying to post last night but something went funny, ended up on hte front page and couldn't back to here and then when I went on the message boards I find they had crashed.

"A man of the cloth? I accept your offer and apologise." he replies and bows to Aventi and as he does this so do all the others bow in unison. After some time of silence he raises his head first and then the others do too. "We have been under attack ever since word reached the street of the King's death. Come, bring in the wagon and we'll keep you all protected. Hellknights should be on their way to secure the temple and other major buildings around Korvosa." many of the monks back into the shadows, waiting in case of another attack whilst a few of them come up to the cart and help escort it to the entrance where they normally take in supplies. The children are welcomed, though quite a few of them, including the one with the acid-scarred face don't seem too willing, but atleast it's shelter and Grau, though he's still drunk he is quickly taken to a room to be laid down for rest by one of the monks who appears to have experience with the town drunks.

The man who was seeing to Grau returns and gives a bow.
"I am glad you brought Grau here. He's a good man at heart but like any good man he has demons but settles them with drink. I thank you for bringing him here. We need more honourable men on the watch like him." he bows and leaves before the monk who greeted you all at the entrance comes to see you.
"If you can help us, it would be much appreciated, however we can take care of ourselves. May I ask what this urgent mission is?" he seems intrigued as he looks at the rest of the group with the curious expression.

Male Human Monk 2

As you can see, our group is small but efficient. We had a task to retrieve an item for a fortune-teller and it seems that he is actually... capable of providing some fortune. Along the way, we found these children and decided to escort them to safety, when the chaos begun. I would suppose that not all of them are... interested to monastery life a little bit sour face appears to Avantis face but that is in the end their decision and I am not to force them in their life. Nevertheless, we need to head back to more chaotic part of town. What I can say... that at least maybe the town is more or less more safe with one of the evildoers gone

Avanti will keep his respectful bow, leaning little bit forward although still looking at the monks eyes

HP 133/133, AC 26/14/23 CMD 22, F +13, R +10, W +17, P +22, In +11

Now that the children are safe, I wish to return this brooch to the queen as soon as possible. It is not a safe thing to be found carrying in these dark times. Curnach whispers to the party.

Female Tiefling Cleric of Calistria 2

Tapestry looks on quizzically as Aventi speaks of some 'urgent mission' (since she has no idea what he's talking about), but nods at Curnach's words, and whispers in reply,

'It sounds like the queen's status is in dispute at the moment, but that means all the action is likely to be round her too! I say we head over to the palace and see what's going on for ourselves.'

Master of Gaming and Grognardia Current map

You guys gain an additional 200xp for escorting the children and Grau to somewhere safe. There's a good chance the kids might've been killed on the street not to mention Grau being a watch guard and might be seen as in league with the queen.

The man nods at what Aventi says.
"What evildoer is that may I ask and if they wish to stay they can and avoid the chaos for tonight. I have no problem with them making their own destiny." he looks to the group Aventi travels with "This group you travel with seem a little...different from most people I've seen. I am sure you know what you are doing as you have the wisdom for it." he bows again but this time apologetically as he felt he over-stepped a line there.

Female Tiefling Cleric of Calistria 2

Looking closer at the temple monk talking to them, Tapestry playfully says,

'I thought I recognised you! Aren't you the guy who paid for the thing with the cucumber, the oil of slipperiness, and the goat?'

Sorry, couldn't resist teasing the Lawfuls! :)

To Team Neutral she says,

'If we can stay the night here it may be sensible to do so: I doubt anyone's getting in the palace right now. Plus I'd really like a bath, and some time to worship the goddess... Would anyone care to join me?' It's unclear whether she means to join her in the bath, the worship, or both... ;)

For the life of me I can't remember why I didn't dot this fourm. Loved what you said there, though I'm sure the monk won't, lol. Dotting.

Sovereign Court

You did dot it. The dots server went down a day or 2 ago and messed them all up.

Female Tiefling Cleric of Calistria 2

That'll be a Knowledge (arcana) check to remember which games you're running... ;)

Krenn will stay up, helping make sure the boys get settled in okay. Then he'll offer his services as a sentry to the order. He's still pretty wired after everything that has happened and not ready to relax yet.

Master of Gaming and Grognardia Current map

Pity I have a negative in my intelligence modifier, hehe. Anyway, so is there anything else you guys wish to do or have I missed something?

Male Human Monk 2

It´s understandable. Now, we must part away and fulfil our mission.

Avanti will then turn to others and speak fast and remind of the important mission Hope you didn´t forget that also instead of brooch... we also have one severed head of varisian fortune-teller, which we might want to return if we don´t want to find ourself in trouble... I will just say that we simply make a trip trough the house, leave the head and continue our way to castle to return the brooch. To get over this quickly then, I want to ask : firstly the head or brooch?

PS:Greetings from Italy :)

HP 133/133, AC 26/14/23 CMD 22, F +13, R +10, W +17, P +22, In +11

Why not let Zellara herself decide. Curnach says, performing minor card tricks with her harrow deck as he speaks, clearly expecting a response from the deck.

Upon his words the beautiful middle-aged fortune teller you all met at the start of this adventure appears before you all. She turns to Curnach with a smile.
"So you want to return the brooch?" she asks looking around the room and then turning to Aventi. "Walking up to a ruler of the country while holding someone's head might not be the best for first impressions. I've never been to the castle myself, but I wouldn't be surprised if you would be searched when entering and I don't think they will be impressed. I...would like to be bured next to my son in the Dead Warrens, but with all this chaos it's too much to ask for. Just leave my remains here if you plan to visit the new queen of Korvosa." she rolls her eyes as she says this and sits on the table's edge comfortably as the monk from earlier returns.

"Oh? I didn't see you before miss. Shall I prepare another room, it's no bother." he turns to Aventi wanting a answer from him but Zellara then interupts him
"No need. I will be sharing a room with the young cleric." she smiles and the man only now realises that he sees a Tiefling, but looking at Aventi he seems to regain his composure.
"Err...brother. Is there anything else you might need?" the monk looks thoughly surprised at Tapestry due to her earlier comment of a cucumber, oil of slipperyness and a goat. It's obvious from his expression he wants to retort and say something but is holding himself back.

Male Human Monk 2

This is all, brother. Thank you for everything. I suppose we will continue and I will pay visit back here on later time. Avanti will bow formally and then whisper in small voice to monk Don´t worry... let´s say... that she has humorous personality... hehe, although it might be little bit... hmm, how you say, suggestive...

Female Tiefling Cleric of Calistria 2

Fighting hard not to burst out laughing, Tapestry takes a step towards the nervous-looking monk and gently runs the back of her fingers down the side of his face,

'You're welcome to join us... "brother",' she suggests, 'to make sure we don't get up to anything... inapropriate... during the night...'

She does cast an intrigued look towards Curnach, considering his apparant ability to summon the not-a-ghost of Zellara... but refrains from asking questions until the group is once again alone. To the welcoming monk she adds,

'By the way, darling - is there a hot bath available? I'd really like a chance to strip out of this tight leather...'

Krenn watches for the night, counting on tobacco and coffee to keep him going until dawn, or until most of the danger seems to have passed.

Male Human (Shoanti) Cavalier * 2 (Order of the Cockatrice)

Althon sees that Morgan is properly attended to, then spends a few hours on watch with Krenn before retiring for the night. "No sense in both of us getting no sleep tonight, besides I need my beauty rest" hes says to the dwarf with a laugh as he heads to his quarters for the night.

Sorry for being M.I.A over the weekend guys, busy holiday weekend.

The night is uneventful and once you all head to bed Zellara bows, smiling and thanking you all for taking down Gaedren Lamm, but warns you all that you are all part of something much bigger and you are all tied to this city, but she is not sure in what way.

With that she dissappears again and only Curnach can speak to her if he wishes, simply by touching the Deck she speaks into his mind.

The monks managed to keep back any more rioters peacefully only using force when it was nessissary and even then most ran away. The morning there is still a uproar in the city. The death of a King would not go down overnight afterall, however it is not as terrible as it was yesterday.

You all notice in the morning that some of the kids are settling in, doing the work and they all appeared to have been cleaned up after having a nice bath. Some of the kids however, certain kids cause some trouble, mostly those who perfered Tapestry's actions have caused trouble, wanting to have fun and break stuff just for the hell of it. The scarred boy was in charge of a group who smashed a urn with the ashes of one of the founding members of this temple. They've been forced to pick up all the peices so that someone can repair it and collect the ashes so that they're returned to their sacred position.

Through the night Tapestry you notice you're advencements go nowhere as the men here all believe in mind over body and try to focus on keeping themselves strong and well trained. You're approches seem alien to you and you get the sense they havn't so much as held hands with a woman in years let alone done anything else.

As you all have breakfast, provided by the monks of course, Grau wakes with a obvious headache as he walks downstairs and greets you all. He seems to be cleaned up after last night. He smiled sheepishly to you all.

"I apologise for my behaviour last night. I was getting drunk and then all this chaos started up. If there is anything I could do to help you just ask, but I have to head to my post. The guard need their captain afterall." he turns to leave in the same shabby uniform as last night, only you get the sense the monks did try to clean it up a bit so he isn't as bad as he was when you first met him.

Female Tiefling Cleric of Calistria 2

Quite happy to spend some time testing the monks' vows of chastity (hey - they like challenges, right?), Tapestry also takes the time to get a good long soak in a bath... for which she'll invite any interested parties to join her... and looks for a volunteer to help her worship Calistria... (even if there are no takers, she'll still make sure to perform the rites and prayers she needs to worship her deity and regain her spells).

After the incident with the urn, Tapestry will take her scarred little friend aside for a quiet word,

'Remeber,' she says softly, 'Calistria is the goddess of trickery as well as lust and revenge... If you're going to do stuff like that, make sure you don't get caught! You'll also want to practice your acting - faking remorse is always better than the real thing.'

Female Tiefling Cleric of Calistria 2

Hope I haven't scared people off with Tapestry's 'forward' ways... ;) Feel free to ignore her advances - it's just a bit of character flavour after all (and this is a family friendly site).

Master of Gaming and Grognardia Current map

Yeah where the hell has everyone gone?

The next day when things are at least a little more calm, Krenn will pull everyone together for a discussion.

What do you reckon we should do now? I don't think I could get my nephew safely out of the city now, so he's just as well saying put here until I can get him back to his folks. Any ideas on our next step?

As I have stated on numerous occasions along with my reasoning why, returning the brooch to the Queen- if indeed she is still Queen; must be our priority. If things have calmed down lets first see to the burial of Zellara's remains.

Do you have any idea how we go about that? Security is bound to be tight around the palace with the rioting. Do you think just flashing the item will get us in? If so, I'll have your back, with my axe at your service for what you've done for me this day.

He gazes around, meeting the eyes of everyone present. Same goes for the rest of you. You've helped me rescue my nephew, which I have been working at for years now. If there is anything I can do for you, I will.

Male Human Monk 2

ooh, sorry :S It´s just that .. I got freaking too much freetime and I am totally dominating usually the talking & posting so slowing down and giving others chance also. Feeling like kind of... duracell bunny in the head of our group heh. Just seeing what others also have to say. Also been looking around forums for a while

Avanti will listen the ideas and ponders for a while, What you say if we head to Zellara´s place first and see if we can do somethinga bout the remains and same time we could maybe ask along the way how the situation is... I guess the Hellknights are still moving around the town to keep rioters down and... well, we should have a good chance to advance

Avanti suddenly wakes up and looks at Graul Wait!!! WAIT! What did you say? I had completely forgotten that. You are the captain of guards?... May I ask if... is it possible for you to get us inside to castle or next to queen? Avanti is thinking hard and looking at others... and especially Tapestry, winks eye to her and mimics like: go get him, tiger! lol

HP 133/133, AC 26/14/23 CMD 22, F +13, R +10, W +17, P +22, In +11

My plan for entering was indeed simply to flash the item and explain our intentions to return it to the Queen- but if another avenue of approach is available so be it.

Male Human (Shoanti) Cavalier * 2 (Order of the Cockatrice)

"Why doesn't our good friend Grau here, just take us to see the queen and announce that he has found the heroes who have found her broach?" questions Althon, shrugging his shoulders..

That is the other avenue of approach I just spoke of. Its a better plan than just strolling in- assuming Grau has access? Curnach's quiet question clearly directed at Grau.

Grau turns to the monk as he is being shouted at. He's surprised, but the talking of meeting up with the queen has him hesitant.
"Well...I can't simply bring you straight to the queen. I'm the captain of the city watch, but they will trust my word if I bring you to the guards and they can take you from there." he seems a little hesitant and will only take you to the guards and go no further with you. "I do have a city to try and get back into order. If any of you are looking for a job I could use some help getting the city back under control. There's going to be a ton of complaints and crimes stacked on my desk." he groans at the thought and seems to be still suffering under the ale from last night. He'll sit down for breakfast as he will be leading you all to the castle when you are all ready.

Female Tiefling Cleric of Calistria 2

'Sounds like a plan,' agrees Tapestry, adding (whilst returning Aventi's wink),'let's go chat up... I mean chat to... some palace guards!'

She'll have just taken the same spells as before for today.

Bathed, rested, and fed, the purple-hued femme does a feline stretch (including flexing her tail) and prepares to follow where the others lead.

After a quick farewell to his nephew and an admonishment to remain on the monastery grounds until he returns, Krenn is ready to go with all of his gear.

HP 133/133, AC 26/14/23 CMD 22, F +13, R +10, W +17, P +22, In +11

Up early as always, Curnach spent the morning finding some berries and enchanting them, a daily ritual as natural to him as eating or sleeping.

I'll take the average if thats ok Aron, 2 on one D4, 3 on the other D4. D4's have always hated me. Thats 5 berries total.

Yeah average is fine. I don't see a reason for not taking it with Goodberry.

Master of Gaming and Grognardia Current map

What are you guys doing first? Burying the her head or going to the castle? You can assume these rooms will be left available to you if oyu wish to make this place a makeshift base, a safe spot to stay at or something.

HP 133/133, AC 26/14/23 CMD 22, F +13, R +10, W +17, P +22, In +11

As i've stated countless times, i'd like to bury her head and then go to the castle.

Male Human Monk 2

I agree and thinking that everyone else is also going along these lines

Male Human (Shoanti) Cavalier * 2 (Order of the Cockatrice)

I concur with Curnach and Aventi

Grau, we have one task that we must perform before going to the pursue the return of this property. Can you wait, or can we meet you in a few hours? If so, where?

Female Tiefling Cleric of Calistria 2

Tapestry's just happy to follow the crowd - with 'daddy' being dead and all her life's work is done... and all before breakfast! Might as well see what other trouble team neutral can get into. ;)

"Well I will have to get going, but I do owe you all my life. I can join you if you wish or I'll wait here for you. This temple isn't too far from the castle." he smiles as she says this though his face is obviouslly filled with questions. Looking over Tapesty he looks to the symbol for moment "Follower of Calistria? I'm surprised you would be in this temple due to...well I'm sure you know what I mean." he caughs as he stops himself from making a ass of himself by saying anymore and shows a soft blush and averts his gaze back to Krenn.

HP 133/133, AC 26/14/23 CMD 22, F +13, R +10, W +17, P +22, In +11

Then it is settled. Curnach says abruptly, clearly impatient to end his business with these people and go back to his life of solitude.Lets leave. Wait for us Grau we shall be quick.

Female Tiefling Cleric of Calistria 2
Quote:
"Follower of Calistria? I'm surprised you would be in this temple due to...well I'm sure you know what I mean."

'What can I say?' Tapestry grins at the Captain, 'I'm a girl who likes a challenge! But don't worry... I'll always make time for the fine men... and women... of the city watch!' With that she steps forwards to plant a kiss on Grau's cheek (he had washed, right?), before joining the others as they head off for some early morning head-planting...

As you all head over to Zellara's house you see her appear once again beconing you over.
"I buried my son's remains in the back, next to that young sapling. It's a shame I never got Lamm arrested, but I'm glad you have all taken him down." she walks you all through the house that still looks unused and there are still shouts of Chaos in the background. Pointing to the tree you can see some fresh grass where you assume she buried her son's remains. "I am glad you all came to Korvosa. Korvosa needs heroes like you."

After the burial where those who wish to say a prayer, say one in honour of her.

"Now, go meet with Grau. Someone tell him to find someone new and move on." he hangs her head as she says this and shakes it. "I used my deck on him and he will never be with the one he loves. It's sad that he keeps punishing himself and Curnach, you need to talk more love before you end up like him. Everyone, I will remain in the deck Curnach has and if you need me for anything, I will be here."

She fades away once again and you are left alone in her guarden, but soon leave realising that standing about for too long might invite muggers. As you make you're way back to the temple you are suddenly surprised by a swarm of Imps, flying down and attacking. There are about 8 of them and it's obvious they see you all as easy prey.
