Adria believed in Law and Evil all her life. But something has changed within her. The Chaos has spoken to her, and of all things the strange creature down the south passage is the most Chaotic. She may not be able to resist herself.
Nope she isn't able at all!
Adria looks back at the others then turns to walk cautiously down the south corridor. I must turn aside and see this sight. Perhapse I will take a piece of it's body with me if I survive, which I can one day use to brew a powerful potion of Chaos.
She casts LIGHT and hopes she has at least enough warning to keep her distance.
perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
She will do everything she can to stay about 15 ft from the being if possible. Just a looksy. She's probably dead...well, it was a nice game while it lasted, thanks Dave! haha!

Garrand |

"This is likely to end badly" Garrand murmurs to nobody in particular. He ready's his bow and moves quietly down the corridor towards what is probably certain death.
stealth: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
Bardic Performance: Countersong: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
At 1st level, a bard learns to counter magic effects that depend on sound (but not spells that have verbal components.) Each round of the countersong he makes a Perform (keyboard, percussion, wind, string, or sing) skill check. Any creature within 30 feet of the bard (including the bard himself) that is affected by a sonic or language-dependent magical attack may use the bard's Perform check result in place of its saving throw if, after the saving throw is rolled, the Perform check result proves to be higher. If a creature within range of the countersong is already under the effect of a non-instantaneous sonic or language-dependent magical attack, it gains another saving throw against the effect each round it hears the countersong, but it must use the bard's Perform skill check result for the save. Countersong does not work on effects that don't allow saves. Countersong relies on audible components.

Garrand |

you guys start posting at 5 in the morning my time! I better post now if I want to get a shot in edgewise <lol>. Note: the radius of the light spell is 40' for those with low light vision.
Garrand will continue his strangely discordant song which (hopefully) seems to negate the Gibbering Mouthers sonic attack and looses an arrow at the monster.
bow: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
damage: 1d8 ⇒ 7
I'll post a couple more shots here. This is likely to be a tough fight and I don't think the party can afford to have Garrand stand back and just watch. Please use the attacks when appropriate.
bow: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
bow: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
bow: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
damage: 1d8 ⇒ 4
damage: 1d8 ⇒ 6
damage: 1d8 ⇒ 6

Nilus Romani |

Watching the pair of fools travel in the direction of certain death Nilus curses
Oh b#~@+~#s!
He runs after the pair to block their way and yell at the crazy priestess!
Come now you crazy #$%$# whats over there is gonna kill ya dead, and then kill me! Get your finely shaped bottom moving the other direction!
To Garrand he threatens
Shut that racket off and help me get her back to the surface. And put that $#$@#%%$ little bow down fool.

Nilus Romani |

Not sure if Dave said this before, but I'm pretty sure he doesn't do xp. He auto levels us at certain points in the story.

GM: Dave the Dwarf |

Yea Nilus is right. When I have tried to use XP in the past my players requested doing it the other way.
Adria you walk to the door the noise getting louder. Luckily the countersong is negating the affects. (1 round down). The door is one of those water tight metal doors you see on naval ships. Someone has scrawled warnings on the door not to open it.

Sorsha Brittleflower |

Sorsha turns to see the party heading towards the noise.
"Hey, guys, you're supposed to head towards the light, not the sound." she says quietly.
"i am so going to regret this."
Acting quickly, Sorsha grabs a piece of chalk and makes large marks on the wall, indicating to herself alone which way to go down the hall. She then walks the chalk down to the rest of the party.

![]() |

Adria casts guidance on herself, Garrand, Nilus and Sorsha. She can't see Haruk. Then she readies CAUSE FEAR, tries to open the door.
initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
I just want to see it. I've read about them in books, and I just want to see one. Get ready to run if you have to.
but what I really want is a PIECE of it...
Knowing my initiative score is low the plan here is to open the door and cast CAUSE FEAR on whatever is on the other side. If it flees we can keep our distance and kill it easily with ranged attacks. If it saves vs cause fear it get -2 to it's grapple check. If it DOESN't grapple me we can all step back and get range again. If the dice are mean it will grapple Adria and she will have learned a valuable life lesson...

GM: Dave the Dwarf |

Gibbering Initiative 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Adria takes a move action to open the door. As soon as the door is cracked the Gibbering Mouther starts to flow out.
Adria casts her Fear spell.
Will Save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15 VS DC 14. Pass.
It is Shaken for 1 round. -2 to hit
It rolls out and attacks Adria swarming over her with 6 small mouths.
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17 Hit
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19 Hit
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22 Hit
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21 Hit
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9 Miss
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23 Hit

Nilus Romani |

That tears it! Nilus grabs the fallen cleric and drags her backwards.

![]() |

Gurgle gurgle...
The wave of chaos she just experienced exceeds even the most calculated lawful evil intent of the house of Thrune she served for so many years. Adria realizes she has much to learn, much much to learn. And that she should have listened to her new allies.
Almost got it with cause fear though

GM: Dave the Dwarf |

The Gibbering Mouther does not chase after you. It slithers into the narrow channel and quickly is washed away with the other filth.
Looking at where it was it looks like someone had captured it in a small hallway and sealed it in there so It could not hurt anyone. That is until some adventures came along and let it loose on the world again!
Gibbering Mouthers kinda suck it turns out. But one thing they do have going for them is the Amorphous ability. So with cracks and drains all over Westcrown it would be almost impossible to pin it down long enough to kill it before it found a crack and ran away. It is this reasoning I use that the monster was trapped and not killed.

Nilus Romani |

Nilus jams a healing potion down the gullet of the foolish priestess.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Thrice damned fool this one, she needs a good spanking.

![]() |

Adria sputters back to conciousness in Nilus' arms. I'm sorry *cough* I am sorry. I just wanted to see what it was. I... The sudden realization that she put everyone in danger is setting in. It suprises her. Having left the service of evil gods, its' almost as if a new and gentler spirit were speaking to her. She resists that gentle spirit, and stands as best she can, she tries to bolster her pride. I won't cause any more trouble...

Nilus Romani |

Hearing the sputterig, spluttering cleric stammer apologies goads Nilus into action
Let's get a move on. Those Ellknights cannot be far behind now.
With hardly a glance over his shoulder Nilus strides back towards Sorsha and the light.

Sorsha Brittleflower |

I'm assuming that the last post is about our progress out of the sewer and not in pursuit of the creature. If so...
Perception 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30
Sorsha looks for a sword marker, or the remnants of a sword marker

Haruk |

Haruk had opted not to follow his foolish companions towards what was likely certain doom. Instead, he waits for them, leaning up against the wall.
When they drag the near dead body of Adria back out, he rushes over to and administers his own healing potion to her 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
"Stupid girl, can't have one of the faithful, even if astray, fall due to such poor choices. We have uses for you still"

Nilus Romani |

Let's be quick about it then.

Garrand |

Actually we're at a 4 way intersection, it doesn't really matter if we have a map if you're not worried about tactical movement.
Garrand will be towards the back of the part with his bow ready. When combat start he'll start a bardic performance: Inspire Courage (+1 (Su) Morale bonus on some saving throws, attack and damage rolls.)

Sorsha Brittleflower |

I need to wait on getting a map as I fully intend to hide and dazzle the foe with my Fester-like tactics ("Shoot 'em in the back!")

Garrand |

I need to wait on getting a map as I fully intend to hide and dazzle the foe with my Fester-like tactics ("Shoot 'em in the back!")
It's my policy never to make the GM work harder than they want to <grin>. You can just say that's what you're intending to do and let it play out.
