Background:
Garrand Lament's parents were part of a comedy troop who made their living traveling the country and putting on shows at country fairs and the homes of noble patrons. He was too young to take on a full role in the act but he performed minor parts and handled the props back stage. Garrand will always remember those early days of innocence as the best time of his life.
It all came to an ugly end when the troop took a job at House Sarini. Garrand's parents were against taking the job given the Sarini reputation but were overridden due to the troop's tight finances. Predictably, the performance went badly right from the start. The audience didn't appreciate their brand of lighthearted witty comedy and they weren't shy with their disapproval. Cruel heckling soon gave way to thrown food and dishes. The troop was driven from the stage battered, bleeding and stained with rotting food (the fact that the nobles had rotting food at a feast was indication that the reception was planned well before the troop took the stage). Fearing further attacks they grabbed their belongings and scrambled to get out of the manor. Somehow in the rush to get to their wagons, Garrand's mother became separated from the troop. By the time they realized she was missing and went back to find her, it was too late. She was already dead and given her state of undress it was obvious that she had been violently raped before being beaten to death.
They never found out who, or how many people , were responsible for her death. Complaints to the leader of the house were laughed off and when they complained to House Thrune, House Sarini countered with the accusation that the troop was a thinly disguised front for a prostitution ring and that their act was treasonous to both Cheliax and House Thrune. House Thrune sided with Sarini, the death of his mother was ignored and the troop was forcibly disbanded.
Garrand's parents had taken the ironic name Lament, but that name became the truth. Garand's father died a few years later, a broken down alcoholic, and Garrand was forced to make his way in the world on his own. Forgoing comedy he made his way telling tale in taverns for whatever coin he could earn.
A tall elven youth, 6'2" 130 lbs with black hair and grey eyes. He's dressed in Lamellar armor and carries a Longbow and Longsword. A perceptive observer might notice a dagger in a spring loaded sheath on his wrist.
