GM: Dave the Dwarf |

Combat will start when you get your characters placed.
You can post your surprise round action if you wish. I will need stealth rolls though since they will have a chance to hear you come out after them. Of course it will be at a negative since they are in clanking armor and not expecting you do being doing anything but running.

![]() |

stealth: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20 Adria will not swing in the blind. She will spend as much time as needed to determine what/who it is she is fighting. She learned her lesson from the gibbering mouther: size up the enemy before you engage. IF it looks like they are bad guys and the party can take them, she will move action to the center of the intersection and channel negative energy on as many of them as possible. A nice little present from her former evil gods.

Nilus Romani |

Nilus will interpose himself between the party and the warrior and will be using combat expertise and fighting defensively. For a total of -5 to hit and +3 AC. AC is now 21.
Nilus will attempt to disarm the first warrior to come at him.
Disarm: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Stealth: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (12) - 1 = 11

Sorsha Brittleflower |

GM: Dave the Dwarf |

1d20 - 2 ⇒ (20) - 2 = 18
They get to about right where they are on the map when they notice Nilus. So not surprise round but they will go last anyway.
Nilus steps out to disarm and fails. CMD 12 so no worries about dropping your weapon. I assume you step out so he would not have cover otherwise you will drop your weapon.
Adria, Sorsha, and Garrand they are completely unaware of you.
Blue, Black, Red, and Brown are possibly affected by the sleep spell.
1d20 - 1 ⇒ (14) - 1 = 13 Blue is asleep
1d20 - 1 ⇒ (17) - 1 = 16 Black is awake
1d20 - 1 ⇒ (17) - 1 = 16 Red is awake
1d20 - 1 ⇒ (6) - 1 = 5 Brown is asleep

15 ft move action to L16; Adria lays a blast rune in L17
Swirling in a circular motion, low to the ground, almost a dance, Adria draws a mysterious line on the ground. Finishing the twirl in full standing postion she tryes to goad the creature toward her...
Come and get me, hellspawn. No offence, Mr Haruk...
intimidate?: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

Sorsha Brittleflower |

Sorsha moves three squares south and slings a bullet at Mr. Black.
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15 for 1d3 ⇒ 2 damage
In future, when we set an ambush it might be best to leave the intersection clear and pull them down a passage. That way they can be flanked easily and our damage gets a boost. Just a suggestion

Nilus Romani |

Nilus motions Adria to move backwards as he will begin a slow retreat to get the warriors into a better position. If Sorsha would duck into the other tunnel she could then flank once this is accomplished.

GM: Dave the Dwarf |

The way the ambush went down may have been my fault. I read it like Nilus wanted to step out and attack when he could. Plus the bad stealth roll.
You can sneak attack with the bullet as they have no clue you are there so its just a shot coming from the dark. As I am sure the tiefling Elf and Halfling would get rid of there light sources.
Only problem is you are shooting through a companion so he has cover. So it misses.
Until I say otherwise you can sneak attack them as they can not see it coming.

Nilus Romani |

You cannot sneak attack under low light conditions unless you have low light vision or darkvision

GM: Dave the Dwarf |

Hellknights will attack. By the way these are Hellknights in training they wear just chainmail and carry crossbows and longswords.
Black steps forward onto the Rune Fire?: 1d6 ⇒ 1 Damage
He then swings at Adria. 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5 Miss
Yellow moves down and pokes smacks his friend with the flat edge of his
sword. nonlethal: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5 Blue takes 5 Nonlethal damage.
Green does the same thing to Brown nonlethal: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9 The Green Knight accidentally? cuts his friend and the man goes from sleeping to bleeding to death. The Green Knight does not seem to care a bit.
Red shoots a crossbow bolt at Adria -8 to hit a target in melee with cover.
1d20 - 7 ⇒ (11) - 7 = 4 Miss.

Nilus Romani |

If we extinguished our lights.....wouldn't we be in total darkness and thus all have a 50% miss chance?

GM: Dave the Dwarf |

Round 1 summary:
Nilus moves out to disarm. Miss
Garrand casts sleep and puts 2 to sleep.
Adria casts a exploding rune and taunts a Knight.
Sorsha shoots a sling bullet and misses.
The Knights wake up there sleeping companions and accidentally kills one.
All of the other Knight attacks miss.
Start round 2
Haruk you have 2 actions in round 2.

Adria Channels negative energy from L16, then takes a 5 foot step south, to allow the knights to come through as Nilus said, giving Nilus flanking if black steps forward.
1d6 ⇒ 4
A silent wave of darkness sweeps forth from the priestess as she raises her arms into the air. There is a wind and the hell-knights recoil...

Nilus Romani |

Hate to be a buzzkill, but channeling negative energy allows for a Will Save....I think the DC is 10+mod

GM: Dave the Dwarf |

30 foot burst that catches all of them.
1d20 - 1 ⇒ (10) - 1 = 9 blue
1d20 - 1 ⇒ (11) - 1 = 10 black
1d20 - 1 ⇒ (14) - 1 = 13 yellow
1d20 - 1 ⇒ (14) - 1 = 13 green
1d20 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2 red
Creatures that take damage from
channeled energy receive a Will save to halve the damage.
The DC of this save is equal to 10 + 1/2 the cleric’s level
+ the cleric’s Charisma modifier.

I am Adria Darkling, former priestess of your accursed master. I know you think you will gain by serving Asmodeus in the hell knight's army, but you have no idea that every time you bleed for him you bring us all one step closer a torturous fate which you could not imagined in your wildest dreams...
talking is a free action in combat mwahaha!

Nilus Romani |

Nilus disarm: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15 disarms the Hellknight in front of him. Nilus then takes a step backwards to make room.
No Longer fighting defensive so AC is 19

Nilus Romani |

It doesn't it specifically says attacks and weapon damage rolls.

Nilus Romani |

Dave how are you doing flanking, the strict Paizo definition or the looser 3.5 rules. Example if I move north 5' can I flank with Adria, or if Sorsha moves SE 1 square can she flank with me?
