Ferrous Grimgond |

Aye me armor should stop any stingers from the beasties. The dwarf said clapping the fighter on the shoulder. He walked causally into the room standing between the bees and the doorway across the room.

![]() |

Sorry not to post sooner, guys... had a really exhausting weekend.
As soon as Fistep and Ferrous step into the room, the bees take notice and fly forward, buzzing angrily.

The bees attack with their stingers!
Vs. Fistep AC2: 20 - 1d20 ⇒ 20 - (19) = 11d3 ⇒ 1 Hit!
Vs. Ferrous AC2: 20 - 1d20 ⇒ 20 - (12) = 8
The bee attacking Ferrous is unable to find a gap in his armor, but the one attacking Fistep manages to find a weak spot, It jabs him with its stinger.
1 damage.
The stinger detaches from the bee's thorax and remains embedded in Fistep's body. The bee lurches drunkenly in the air for a moment, and falls to the floor, dead, fluids leaking from the place where the stinger was ripped free.
Fistep reels for a moment... the wound is extremely painful, far more than it ought to be for its size.
Fistep, at the end of your next three rounds you must make a health save. If you fail you will take 4 damage each failure.
Initiative Round 1:
Everyone may now act. There is only 1 surviving bee.

Ferrous Grimgond |

The dwarf furiously swings his axe at the bee buzzing in front of him.
Die you overgrown buzz kill.
Attack: 19 - 1d20 ⇒ 19 - (19) = 0
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
As his axe cleaves the bee in two. Ferrous mouth stretches into a confident smile. After dispatching his bee he turns his attention to Fistep.
Are you alright my friend?

![]() |

The one remaining bee falls to the floor in pieces, undeniably dead.
Combat is now over. Fistep must make three successive health saves. If he fails two he will be at zero HP which is obviously not good. So he will definitely need healing unless he makes the first two saves. He also still has the stinger sticking out of him.

![]() |

Taklishim moves towards Fistep his knife in hand to scrape the stinger free, he chews a small leaf of tobacco to place on the wound...
The stinger is barbed but you are able to remove it fairly easily. Had it been left in it would have continued to work its way in, continuing to do small amounts of damage.

Just made it!
You need to roll two more. Your HP are low enough that if you fail the next one you will need healing to make sure the third roll doesn't kill you. Talikshim can lay on hands and hasn't used any spells yet so presumably this is not a problem.
What does everyone else want to do? It sounds as if there are still some living bees within the hive. Or you could ignore the hive and get to work on the door.

Ferrous Grimgond |

I'll watch the hive in case any other bees come out. Montague why don't you look at the door and Shaman see if you can help Fistep with his wound it looks a bit nasty.
Ferrous then stepped up to bar the prison door with his considerable girth.

Zynazyr |

Zynazyr grimaces when he sees the bee sting Fistep. "Nice job taking care of them, even if it killed itself in stinging you, Fistep," he says with a little smirk. He then moves into position to see what is behind the door if Montegue is able to open it. "I'll be ready to cast a spell at whomever is behind the door. Ana, why don't you be ready in case more bees come out of the hive."

![]() |

@Talikshim: Can I assume you had used a lay on hands on Fistep after he failed the save? If not, there was a chance that he would have died the next round. You wouldn't have known that he was going to succeed the third check.

Montague |

Montague still a bit hesitant about the bees moves closer to the door, watching the hive as much as the door.
"Keep those things away from me! I might swell up and die if it stings me. I had a little sister who got stung by just a regular bee, and she did just that".
1d6 ⇒ 6 Detect Traps
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6 Tinker

Ferrous Grimgond |

The dwarf heard his companions talking among themselves but he didn't turn his attention away from the Hive.
Judging by the size of the Hive and the size of the bees how many bees could be in there?

Taklishim Nantan |

@Talikshim: Can I assume you had used a lay on hands on Fistep after he failed the save? If not, there was a chance that he would have died the next round. You wouldn't have known that he was going to succeed the third check.
Taklishim monitors Fisteps recovery from the poison carefully, the damage was too great and in order to either save the man's life or to ease his suffering the shaman used his lay on hands to strengthen him....
Lay on hands: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6It was well that the man recovered, though Taklishim did not make a big deal of the healing magic....

![]() |

Judging by the size of the Hive and the size of the bees how many bees could be in there?
At most, half a dozen or so. You imagine that the bees probably spend most of their time outside the hive, considering their size.
the shaman used his lay on hands to strengthen him....
Fistep is back to max HP (7) though his temporary HP are gone.

1d6 Detect Traps
1d20+5 Tinker
Montague begins investigating the door. He looks it over again (though he did check it for traps the last time he was here) and finds nothing. The door is still barred. He carefully tries to slip a wire in between the frame of the door to lift the bar holding it shut.
Fineos continues to play his concertina and sing nonsense songs to amuse the others while Montague works.
1d6 ⇒ 3
He gets the wire around the bar and gives it a tug. It seems like the bar is fixed in place vertically, and is the type of bar that slides back and forth in a bracket. He begins to remove the wire, when the bar suddenly slides back, and the door opens!

"What have we here? A bunch of thieves, trying to sneak their way in where they don't belong? Goblin thieves no less."
The speaker is a man dressed in Chainmail over a blue tunic. He has a steel helmet and his face is covered with a golden mask. The mask depicts a long-haired bearded man with a stern gaze. In one hand he holds a sword with a crook in in, shaped like a stylized lightning bolt.
There are six other men dressed the same way with him. They stand in a corridor running east which seems to widen after 20 feet. There is a door in the south wall.
"Surrender, or you will see what the Brotherhood does to thieves!"

![]() |

"I see you found yourself an audience, Fineos. No doubt they are as much fools as you are. No matter."
The man raises his sword and prepares to fight.

Block 2: Some masked men
Block 3: Montague
Block 4: More masked men
Block 5: Talikshim, Ferrous, Fistep
The masked men are moving to attack. If you want to talk to them you will have to talk fast.

Fistep |

Now that the bee is thoroughly hacked to pieces, he nods at the shaman, Much thanks.
Cleaning his blade he waits for Montague to work his magic with door. And then it opens... Well isn't that just dandy.
A bit surprised at the shaman's strong words, but shrugs and pulls his shield up. Aye friends, the shaman speaks the truth. He looks at his companions, Although I, nor we, are no goblins... put down your swords friends and speak to the shaman.
He smiles. Quickly, the dwarf gets grumpy very fast! Shaking his head, And no one wants to see a grumpy dwarf trust me!

Ana reacts almost immediately, casting sleep on the group of men.
sleep: 2d8 ⇒ (4, 2) = 6
Particles of sand seem to condense out of the air on the front six men, who stagger under the influence of the spell.

Three of the men collapse to the floor; the other three remain standing.
"Sorcery! It is some Magi treachery!" one of the standing men shouts.

![]() |

"Fineos! We should have killed you last time! This time we won't show you mercy!" One of the men shouts in anger.

![]() |

Talikshim, you may still take a combat action if you want.
They are definitely moving to attack now, and seem unmoved by what you and Fistep said before. Of course, Fineos is definitely not helping, and they have definitely interpreted the spell as an attack.
Map Updated. I will be back online after midnight tonight EDT.

![]() |

Talikshim: You didn't move your figure on the map. Are you moving up or are you throwing the baton? If you are moving you will either be in front of Montague in the hall or you can stand beside Montague and strike one of the unconscious guys (which would be an automatic hit for double damage).

Taklishim Nantan |

Oops I thought they had closed in on me....just change it to ranged attack...sling or baton is fine....hitting a sleeper seems rude and contradictory to us not being on one side or the other....

![]() |

Talikshim hurls his baton at the lead masked man, but it glances off the man's armor harmlessly.
The man in the back row produces a crossbow and shoots at Montague, but Montague deftly ducks to one side. The front man to the south steps forward, and slashes at Montague while standing over his sleeping comrade, cutting Montague a light wound.
The other man in the south of the hall kicks his sleeping comrade to the north. "Wake up, you fool! It's a trick!"
Crossbow -1 cover: 20 - 1d20 ⇒ 20 - (11) = 9
Sword: 19 - 1d20 ⇒ 19 - (18) = 11d8 ⇒ 4
Montague is hit for 4 damage but if I am reading your line right this comes out of your temporary HP only.
Montague is now up, followed by the man at 20.21 (who will likely move forward and attack). After that the rest of the party can go. The man at 21.21 is now awake but has no action this round, and next round must use his move to stand up.
Montague, you may make an an attack and then withdraw if you wish, though you cannot move more than half your normal move in this case. If I don't hear from you I will assume this is your plan.

![]() |

OK, botting Montague.
16 - 1d20 ⇒ 16 - (3) = 131d6 ⇒ 1
Montague slashes at the masked man, striking him for a minor wound, and then falls back.
19 - 1d20 ⇒ 19 - (12) = 71d8 ⇒ 3
The last standing man moves forward with sword drawn, and swings at Ana, but luckily the blade is turned by her armor.
Round 1 Initiative:
Block 1: Ana, Zynazyr, Fineos
Block 2: Some masked men
Block 3: Montague
Block 4: More masked men
Block 5: Talikshim, Ferrous, Fistep
All right, Talikshim, Ferrous, and Fistep are now up. Map has been updated.

Ferrous Grimgond |

Confused it seems like Zynazyr needs to take an action and Talikshim already did.
Ferrous turns his back on the hive of giant bees when he heard a strange voice behind him. Followed quickly by Talikshim's frustrated shout and the sounds of fighting. The dwarf's face stretched into a contortion of frustration and rage. These men attacked his friends. It seemed the masked men would indeed see an angry dwarf as Fistep warned about.
As Ferrous whirled away from the hive to stand in the doorway he brought his axe down on the sleeping masked man by the door (19,22).
Damagex2: 2d8 + 4 ⇒ (5, 6) + 4 = 15
As he lifted his bloody axe from the man's chest he bellowed a challenge to the other masked men.
I forget if the double damage is double the dice or double the result of a single roll. In this case either 15 or 14 damage.

Fistep |

Steps up to fill the gap, his sword and shield at the ready. As he does so, Ferrous lowers the boom with his axe. He readies to attack the man if the blow does not fell him, otherwise he prepares for the next man to step up to the line Throw down your weapons! he calls out, I told you not to make the dwarf grumpy!

Zynazyr |

I'm a little confused too. In case I still can take an action, we can assume I delayed.
Seeing one of the men attack Ana, Zynazyr throws his shuriken at him.
Attack (18.21): 18 - 1d20 ⇒ 18 - (17) = 1 -1 cover +1 range
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 1

My bad... for some reason I got Talikshim's place in the initiative order mixed up with yours. So we'll just assume the two of you swap places in the initiative order and your attack resolves now. Talikshim, you can conjure a spirit next round as you have already attacked this round.
2d6 ⇒ (2, 4) = 6
Ferrous easily crushes the skull of the sleeping man in the doorway.
Yes, Ferrous, you rolled the damage correctly.
Zynazyr strikes the lead man with his Ustar, dealing a minor wound.
Fistep tries to talk the enemy down. However, his words do not meet with much success.
"It is you who trespass upon us!" the lead man says. "You surrender! We will never give in to the Magi!"

You can now hear alarmed shouting from further down the hall. The door to the south opens, and more voices can be heard from there.

Ana, Zynazyr, and Fistep are up. The two men in front have taken 1 damage each.

Montague |

Fearing for his life... And thinking he's probably going to have to break the others out of capture if they live... Montague pulls back and looks for a place to hide and watch the battle develop, hoping that they forget he was there.
