Lost City DM |
Fistep cuts down the lead masked man.
Ana then steps in and cuts down the one in front of Ferrous with her battleaxe.
You can still hear sounds of alarm from the door and the area beyond. Others are definitely coming.
Zynazyr is up. I will wait another 24 hours and then bot him.
Zynazyr |
Hearing others coming, Zynazyr positions himself so he can see down the hallway. He readies to cast a sleep spell when a group of the men have gathered near the doorway.
Lost City DM |
Two men come from further down the corridor, while three emerge from the door to the south.
One of the men coming from the door to the south has a more ornate helm than the others. He begins shouting orders to the others.
"You two! Hold The Doorway! Akos- get Poros out of there!"
One of the men from the back rushes forwards and pulls the sleeping man out of the doorway, who awakes (but is still prone and has no action this round). Two from the room rush to the doorway and attack with their swords. The leader and one other man in the back shoot crossbows past the mob.
Sword vs. Ana: 19 - 1d20 ⇒ 19 - (14) = 51d8 ⇒ 4
Sword vs. Ferrous: 19 - 1d20 ⇒ 19 - (10) = 9
Crossbow vs. Ana: 19 + 3 - 1d20 ⇒ 19 + 3 - (2) = 20
Crossbow (leader) vs. Ferrous: 18 + 2 - 1d20 ⇒ 18 + 2 - (4) = 16
Ana is hit with a sword; the rest of the attacks miss.
Ana: 4 damage.
Zynazyr casts a sleep spell!
2d8 ⇒ (7, 8) = 15 Woot! That will affect them all, potentially.
save1: 1d20 ⇒ 17
save2: 1d20 ⇒ 17
save3: 1d20 ⇒ 7

save6: 1d20 ⇒ 16
save7: 1d20 ⇒ 6
save8: 1d20 ⇒ 15
saveL: 1d20 ⇒ 6
Sparkling sand descends on the group and they stagger. Only four remain standing; the leader is one of the fallen.
The man in the back calls out in despair "Auriga is down!"
Montague is nowhere to be seen.

Round 2 Initiative:
Block 1: Ana, Zynazyr, Fistep
Block 2: Some masked men
Block 3: Ferrous, Talikshim
Block 4: More masked men
Block 5: Montague
Block 6: Yet more masked men
Ferrous and Talikshim are up. All the conscious masked men have acted already this turn; the sleep spell took out all the ones who had yet to act.
Next round everyone Except Fistep will go before the masked men, so you may post actions for the next turn too. This means Ferrous and Talikshim get double actions.
Talikshim, do you still want to summon your spirit?
Ferrous Grimgond |
Ferrous saw the wizard's spell overtake the enemy as each dropped to ground in a deep slumber. Enraged at the masked man whose sword he had just deflected with his shield Ferrous slams his axe in a downward swing.
THAC019: 19 - 1d20 ⇒ 19 - (12) = 7
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
Lost City DM |
Ferrous' swing glances off the man's chainmail. Talikshim holds back, waiting for an opportunity to act.
Round 3 Initiative:
Block 1: Ana, Zynazyr, Montague, Ferrous, Talikshim
Block 2: Some masked men
Block 3: Fistep
Block 4: More masked men
Everyone except Fistep is now up. Ferrous may swing again. Ana is down to 5 HP and may want to pull back, or perhaps Talikshim may want to use a healing spell.
Zynazyr |
Pleased to see his sleep spell work, Zynazyr sends a bolt of energy towards the one that attacked Ana.
Cantrip: 1d6 ⇒ 2
The energy flies between Ana and Ferrous and hits its target. 1 hp damage
Taklishim Nantan |
Taklishim readies his sling and waits to see who he should send the stone hurtling towards....spellcasters specifically....
"If anyone is injured rotate the frontline."
So that I can lay on hands
Anastoria |
Ana takes another swing at the nearest foe to her and then rotates out from the front.
THACO 16: 16 - 1d20 ⇒ 16 - (19) = -3
Damage: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Lost City DM |
Zynazyr strikes the man facing Ana with a bolt of magical energy, who is then cut down by Ana. Ferrous then swings at his man and misses.
The man lying on the floor behind the man Ana just downed gets to his feet. He looks around nervously, and kicks the man behind him. "Damned sorcery! Get up, by Thunderbolts!" The man behind wakes. (but does not get an action this turn)
Fistep is now up. Talikshim: you may cast a healing spell on Ana if you wish, but you have already used your lay on hands for the day. Montague: you are out of sight of the others but may post an action if you wish.
Taklishim Nantan |
As Anna comes near him, and having used his lay on hands he inspects her deep cut and decides the scroll could save someone closer to death, he instead staunches the wound carefully packing it with an herbal poultice and wrapping it up....
This will take some time to do properly, not sure how much, but it restores 7 points.....I have one use left that is made, found herbs enough to make 5 more batches....
"Be still you do not want the wound to scar. If you have to fight again use the other side for the weight of the weapon."

Honestly, I have no idea what you are doing. If you are casting a cure light wounds spell it will heal 1d6+4 points because of your Wisdom bonus. The herbal poultice item from the equipment rules cannot practically be applied during combat (as it would take too long), and does not heal any damage - it just improves the saving throws against disease and infection.
An herbal poultice is used to stave off infection and disease from wounds. Any time a character is wounded by a creature that could cause disease with its attack (such as the bite of a giant rat) a herbal poultice may be applied to the wound after combat. This grants the victim a bonus to his saving throw against disease of to +1 to +4 (+1d4). Diseases vary widely and the ingredients of the poultice may have lesser or greater effect depending on the recipe (hence the effect is random).
Fistep |
Steps up into the space vacated by Ana. He calls out in as much of a commanding manner as possible Drop your weapons and yield! Your leader is down, let us talk before more bloodshed is split!.
As he shouts, he readies his shield and defense and prepares to strikes at the man in front of him if he doesn't comply.
Fineos NPC |
Drop your weapons and yield! Your leader is down, let us talk before more bloodshed is split!.
"Yes!" Fineos shouts. "If you surrender we will show you the mercy of a quick death! Which is more than you rebels deserve! Resist and you will be flayed alive!"
"Will they dance at the end of a noose?"
"Cut their belly, let their innards loose!"
"Drive red-hot nails into their eyes!"
"The reward for rebellion is such a great prize!"
Lost City DM |
morale: 2d6 ⇒ (1, 3) = 4
"Damn you Magi!" the lead man spits at Fistep. "Fall back! Back to the inner room!" The lead man steps back a few feet, weapon ready.
Fistep: since you essentially have a readied action you can step in and swing at the retreating man, but if so he will also swing at you.
The man in the back rushes forwards, and shakes the man that looks like the leader. "Auriga! Wake up!" The leader seems to rouse (but will not get an action until next round).

Fistep |
Well since the guy spit at me, how rude, I guess i'll have to try and teach some manners
Come Ferrous, my good dwarf, lets teach these miscreants a lesson! he says in an even tone, and steps in to swing at the "human camel".

Seeing the men retreat, Zynazyr tries to slow them down but is unable to get the door to close.

Lost City DM |
Well since the guy spit at me, how rude, I guess i'll have to try and teach some manners
FYI, if it wasn't clear, he spat his words at you. The text describes the dialogue earlier in the sentence.
The masked man takes a swing at Fistep as he closes in.

nice rolling
* Natural 20: A natural roll of 20 grants a "bonus hit." This allows you to roll again, with one of the following results:
* * A: if your first roll was not a hit, you may add the new roll to your old one to see if you hit.
* * B: if you hit but did not down your target then roll again and another hit does damage to the same target (as in a critical hit).
* * C (melee only): if you hit and down your target then you may make a free attack against another adjacent target (as in the 3.5 version of cleave).
Lost City DM |
Taklishim sends a stone spinning from his sling into the thugs...
Talikshim strikes the masked man with his stone.
need a second attack to hit to do the 2 damage.
Ferrous is correct. To speed things up:
sling: 19 + 2 - 1d20 ⇒ 19 + 2 - (12) = 9 Nope. FYI there are two people in between you and your target so there is a -2 to hit, but your first roll will still hit.Ana raises her bow and looses an arrow at one of the men.
Since you didn't declare which enemy you were shooting at, I'll assume it was one of the ones in the front:
1d2 ⇒ 2Ana's shot downs the man that swung at Fistep.
Lost City DM |
19 - 1d20 ⇒ 19 - (8) = 11
The man in front of Fistep takes a swing, but misses.
The man behind him stands, and moves to block the hallway. He kicks the downed man beside him as he passes. "Wake up!"
Map updated. The greyed out men have used their action this turn. The one directly in front of Fistep has taken 1 point of damage.

Hey, guys. Had a busy weekend.

It occurs to Talikshim that bragging about his prowess as a warrior might be more effective if he were to do so after scoring a hit...
It also occurs to Talikshim that at no point has your party requested a parley with these people. You have simply demanded your enemies' unconditional surrender. And at the opening dialogue Ana cast sleep on them before they could respond to your words.
