Thanks! I am better, just a lingering cough at this point. And a lot of work to catch up on...
Aliseya Belododia
In case I forget after combat... Aliseya has an ability that basically lets her use speak with dead. She will do so to ask questions of Govannon's dead body and, perhaps, gain an idea of how to use the device.

I don't normally like to nitpick. But since we're looking at a TPK if we don't bring this thing down in the next few rounds, the situation is dire, and we could use all the help we can get, lol.
wehrpig, I noticed you are using the same damage rolls (4d6+9) for before and after the creature lost 6 strength, while you subtracted 3 from its attack rolls. Shouldn't the damage be less than 4d6+6 now as well? Unless it's got some kind of non-strength-based damage dealing... in which case nevermind.
Thanks. :)
Also, I'll be away for a few days. Should be back Sunday night. Feel free to bot me as needed.
Aliseya Belododia
Sorry Aleks. This has been a truly very high-risk combat encounter, no shame in falling to this thing.
Considering our inability to bypass its DR, I was thinking I might be able to eventually paralyze it earlier on by sapping its strength (and slightly weakening its attacks as a plus). But I now realize it's probably got maybe 3 more rounds of (successful) curses before that happens. So... change of plan: deal as much damage as possible, ASAP!

Don't give up just yet, Zelda. I may not be able to do anything for Aleks, but maybe we can get Zelda and Naught out of this yet...
And by "we," I mean Ali, Ali, and Ali. :D

I havent given up yet. I am still here and keeping tract of my hit points & hoping.

Yeah! Glad we survived...
...though, did we survive?
This may all be a dream. Or some kind of afterlife. We may have all gotten killed back at Harrowstone...
:o
Sounds like we're heading for chapter 3. :)

That is indeed the end of the second chapter. You each have leveled up if you care to post your 8th level stats.
All, I'm going to step away from the game for awhile to focus on other things. I've greatly enjoyed gaming with you all for the last four and a half years. You are welcome to keep the game going with a different GM. Perhaps we can pick the game back up again in the future if we collectively decide to do so.
Best of luck in all your games.

Oh wow. And I had a new bellydance video bookmarked that I was hoping to link to in an upcoming post at the start of chapter 3... :o
Seriously, wehrpig, I can't thank you enough for taking over this game after not one but two MIA GMs. Your dedication and time have been greatly appreciated, I've enjoyed roleplaying with you all, including the newer recruits like Gov and Aleks. Best wishes to you as well. And should you have some free time again and you find our game still running with a new GM, by all means I believe I speak for everyone when I say that Naught, Zelda and Ali would love for their friend Cellawyn to rejoin the team.
As for the game. I personally would love to continue with those of us left. Shall we head back to the Recruitment forum? While I'd love to GM, I'm not really in a position to at present. I don't mind putting the time in to help us find a GM, though.

I would love to continue this game as well. I wish you the best wehrpig and thanks for rumming the game.
Aliseya Belododia
That... was a long down time.
Anyway, so I'll go ahead and post in Recruitment for a new GM. Please feel free to chime in and contribute.
Edit: It's up! I thought to add a possible new player as well as GM, since we're down to four players.
Aliseya Belododia
No problem. :)
Aliseya Belododia
So I went ahead and set the stage for a bit of roleplay while we wait for our potential new GM to get settled and ready in perhaps a few weeks (see the Recruitment thread). I'm thinking we can wait until Nine either starts up or lets us know s/he can't after all (in which case we can try for another GM). Feel free to join in, everyone.
I'm thinking more of a free form roleplaying here. I used my GM alias, but I'm not planning to run encounters or anything, nor do I mind if anyone wants to bot NPCs or whatever. Just some story, dialogue, and perhaps character exploration to keep us entertained while we wait. :)
Dorijann, I purposely didn't mention you in-game because I figured I'd let you describe how you get to the scene. Feel free to join in at any time.

Sorry Aliseya, I missed that these had new posts since I was focused on the Recruitment page. I'd be happy to work into the story, I just want to ask a few things.
1. Is the game assuming that Book 2 is complete?
2. The group is still in Ledpistadt?
3. So, the whole group is women? (cool)
I'll try to work into the group from there. I can easily be in the inn with my mentor (I may post a little using an alias for him) but will definitely phase him out as the game actually starts.
My real name is Jeremy Packer. I have been playing D&D style RPGS for over 35 years, and have played Pathfinder since the first playtest showed up.
I live in Massachusetts, so most of my posts will be based on EST. I am up at odd hours though, so occasionally a post may come in at random hours. I generally am able to post at least once per day, sometimes several since my job is in front of a computer and generally has enough free time to do it. Weekends tend to be a little less because I spend time doing things not involving sitting in front of the computer.
The staff magus build is something I've been interested in for some time, so finally getting a chance to try it is going to be fun. I tend to play more traditional spellcasters and the mix of melee and spellcasting should be interesting.
Aliseya Belododia
Hey Ouachitonian. Of course it's up to our next GM. But if Nine wants to carry over the rules of our previous GMs though (who have opted to retain consistency with their predecessors), I do believe Emerging Firearms (the default) was assumed, though I might be mistaken. Personally, I'm cool with firearms. Any ranged combatant would certainly be handy for sure.

Hi Dorijann. No worries at all.
1. Yes, we just completed book 2 and are heading to book 3.
2. I assumed we're still in the city. Just because that's how the muses struck me. I'm not really sure where we're going in book 3, so I left us still in the city. I thought this was an interesting part of the city for roleplay as well, with both nature and urban life to draw upon. And it's a nice reprieve for the three ladies who've endured... quite a bit.
Also, I don't have a specific time frame in mind. But lets say a short time after the trial of the Beast concluded. If your character was in town at the time, you'd have certainly at least heard about, if not witnessed, a big mob scene at the courthouse (center of the city) over this (supposed) villain called the Beast. The whole pitchfork and torch angry mob scene.
3. Yes... unless Ouachitonian ruins things by playing a man again...
* frowns at Ouachitonian *
;)
Your idea sounds great.
Aliseya Belododia
Oh and thanks for the personal intro. I'm Brian in real life... apparently I've had a truly exceptional surgeon to look like my avatar, lol. I'm not far from you in NY. I've enjoyed playing a variety of classes, but I really enjoy the magus.
Ouachitonian
I'd need an even better surgeon to resemble my avatar. :P It's pretty accurate to my alma mater's mascot, though.
Yeah, mostly I as wondering about what level of firearms we'd be using. No rush, I'll wait until our GM checks in again.
I probably will play a man; I don't think I could do a woman justice. It's too bad we don't have something like the Warforged in PF. A genderless robot might be an interesting change of pace.
Aliseya Belododia
The closest thing I can think of is the android, which I believe is from a Paizo source.
Btw, I think our previous GM had us in winter time, I just recalled. I was thinking more like spring in the gameplay post I put up. So... let's say it's either a relatively warm winter day or a relatively cool spring day, maybe in Calastril (February). Probably no snow, but fairly cool outside. Maybe the verdancy I described is evergreen bushes and trees...

Aside from Android we also have Wyrwood (they smol), Shabti (idols created to take the brunt of someone's sins), Aphorite (created by Axiomites to deal with mortals), and Ghorans (plant people).

OK, so, plan A isn't going to work to get the RP going. I was going to read up on the Gameplay but that is going to take some time, and I'd rather start getting comfortable with the character's personality sooner than that.
So, another question...
Is the group well recognized in town as the heroes from the trial?
I'm thinking of using the status of the group as a possible "ice breaker" to introduce Dorijann and her mentor, but want to make sure if fits the story.

I guess I figured Shabti were the sex of the person they were created to be a scapegoat for, and have never really considered the sex of Golarion’s plant people. Aphorites are new to me. It’s too bad there aren’t any reasonably-low CR golems, I might try to argue for a monster PC. But nah, I’m fine being the odd man out in a girl band. lol

The crafter of the Shabti could have been an enby and thus made them their ideal form? And with plants anything could go since we haven't been told otherwise.
Aphorites are indeed new, they're from Planar Adventures.

Yeah, 80 pages of Gameplay is very daunting, lol. Zelda actually has taken notes, check out "Zelda's Log" in the Campaigns tab for starters.
I'd say the townspeople do not exactly regard us as heroes... The party encountered four undead creatures and we captured one "alive" and got it to confess to the murders. In an attempt to clear the Beast's name at the trial, Ali had the idea of bringing it in to the courtroom to confess there and clear the Beast's name. Ali's alter ego has certain controlling powers over the undead... you'll see. So she controlled it and disguised it (fairly well) as a human woman to get it in to the trial. Unfortunately, all went to pot (of course)... after it admitted to the murders, it then jumped up and onto the nearest person in court in order to start murdering more people... to say that we were out of order would be a great understatement, lol.
So... the locals were likely not exactly thrilled with our performance, you might say. :D
I'm imagining most people did not actually see us (how big can a courtroom be?), so we may be able to get away with walking these outer streets without encountering too much, "Hey! Lookey there! Them there's that evil demon-witch and her loyal demon servants! Lets git'em!!" Then again, feel free to bot a random NPC to do precisely that if the mood strikes you. :)
I'm not really sure what happened to the Beast. He was supposed to be executed in the city, but appeared at the last minute when we were in combat at a castle some distance away. He either escaped or possibly was let out, if the judges actually opted to listen to the undead creature's confession instead of appeasing the murderous mob bent on the Beast's execution. I opted to go with him escaping somehow.
And btw, I have an idea for bringing the ladies into the tavern, if that suits you better. I'm not locked in to it, just an idea I may run with next time I post. I'm giving someone else the time to post in the gameplay before I do...
* looks at Naught *
;) No worries if you don't want to, Naught.

Well, not exactly the story as it is written...
I can work with that though. I also have a busy day ahead of me today so I may not post until later tonight or tomorrow but it will be coming shortly.
As for the tavern, that was me misreading the post. Keeping it going as is will work just as well. Where the group currently is really doesn't change what I was thinking and neither does the "heroes" aspect. IT sounds like to some degree you may have been known in town. That is what I was looking for.

No worries Naught. :)
Actually, Dorijann, I'm not sure exactly how closely to the AP as written our previous GM stuck. I just started reviewing the chapter 2 book for the first time, and spotted a couple of things he left out. Granted in PBP it's a valid strategy to skim in order to get a game completed in less than 5 years. But one of the things he left out was actually an important plot point. Something relevant to the overall Whispering Way storyline. I'm not sure why it was left out; maybe we missed something.
Everyone, if even one of us wants, I'll review it a bit more in order to report back here on what we missed but should know at this point. I'm sure we'll all want to know what's going on as we progress through this AP.
But I think I gave you the gist of what we experienced at least, Dorijann.

Okay a little about me. I live in the mid-west, I have been playing role-play games for about 40 years now. I do believe I am the "Youngest " player of our group :)
I still have a copy of the second set of d&d books. They came in a white box and each book was stapled together. That was just a few short days ago right????
Oh and I am the only lady of the group, in real life.

Lol. I imagine you must shake your head every time Naught and I talk about things like Ali's belly dancing, Zelda. :D
If you are older than me though, probably not by that much. In real life, I'm a middle-aged guy from New York.
So let me see if I can progress the gameplay now... sorry, it's been a rough week for me.

Wow! I just noticed that we have really pitiful armor for our levels! I just looked to check out your Acrobatics and Climb mods... Zelda and Naught both still have mundane studded leather?! I suggest we figure out and split up our party gold and other treasures, then go shopping before chapter 3 begins.
I didn't check out weapons and other gear, but we definitely should all upgrade whatever we need to. At least get masterwork if not +1 armor and weapons, plus maybe another clw wand for Ali. Maybe roleplay shopping for fun if we have a chance too... though with Ali, it'll probably end up an epic four hours in game time, lol.
Aliseya Belododia
At least get a +1 chain shirt, a mithril chain shirt, or perhaps either a +1 leaf armor or +1 studded leather armor if we want to stick with light armor, depending on how much gold we have and individual preference.
