LOL. But that was quite the entrance, though. :)
I'll wait to see Sookie's skill check results.

Not going to be able to reply until later tonight. Crazy busy at work.

I've been contacted by an interested player who wants to join our game. This person comes with the approval of one of us who has played extensively with them before, and I do find the character concept compelling. While they want to play another oracle, they do use a different archetype, and their back story and personality should prove different enough to avoid simply adding another Aliseya to the party... as if! There can be only one! ;)
Anyway, as I want this game to be enjoyable for everyone, I would like to run it by you all first before officially inviting them to the game. Feel free to PM me about it if you'd prefer.
Christoph Metzger |
Sounds fine by me. Still burning midnight oil but hoping to get out of here soon... ish.
Christoph Metzger |
still working late, but managed to find some time to post. :)
GM Kartari |
Coolio. Sookie, are you cool with a sixth player? I'll invite the new player once I get the OK. :)
And no worries, Christoph. That's exactly why I have a flexible 3-5 posts per week rate in the house rules (for my own sake as well!).
Speaking of busy RL, I should likely be back later tonight or possibly tomorrow to move the game forward. I've had my own insane workload the past few days, too. So far, next week is looking better for me though.
GM Kartari |
Ok great. I'll officially invite them then. :)
Posting soon...

Hi everyone, happy to be invited to play among the wonderful array of characters and players in this game. Just finishing up with purchases and equipment but feel free to look Rhia over if you like.
GM Kartari |
Welcome, Rhia. Feel free to dot the Gameplay thread, if you'd like.

Was out last night and didn't have a chance to post, but I'll be getting something up in the next couple of hours.
GM Kartari |
It's really up to you, Zelda. :)
What you know is that the necromancer's gang has already moved into the Shudderwood, and they've probably already begun doing... whatever it is they're there to do. It stands to reason that the longer you take to catch up with them, the more they can possibly get accomplished without your interference.
You could try to locate a smithy in town, see if they already have in stock what you're looking for? Most shops should be open at this mid-morning hour, and a transaction like that would not take much time up.
But if you want a weapon modified or crafted from scratch, that would take more time depending on the weapon in question.
GM Kartari |
And no worries about slow posting. This is a slower-paced game by design.
GM Kartari |
Work, work, work. I should be back tomorrow to move things along.

Ok! Sorry about that long delay. Work was intense.
My vacation (finally!) began today, though. I may go away without Internet here and there for a day or so at a time over the next week and a half, but I'll probably get in at least 2 posts per week now.
Posting shortly...

FYI (as an explanation of what I do, rather than a hard set rule for others to follow), I generally use Romanian to translate into Varisian. Though I tend to very loosely associate Varisian wanderers with the Romani people (who are not ethnic Romanians), Google Translate does not offer Romani as a language. So I picked something that at least superficially sounded similar that's also regionally coexistant, though I later learned Romanian and Romani are not at all related languages. Then again, I just made a reference to Turkish Delight as a Varisian treat, so... screw real world associations.

ok I think I found what I want to purchase. It appears it will cost to much to sell either of my weapons for 1/2 and purchase an upgrade. Oh well. I would like to see if I can find a belt with +2 dex and str. cost 10,000. I just have enough for that :)
Please let me know if I am unable to find such an item.

I would also like to pick up some inexpensive gems (I only have 150 gd left) and some silver wire. I will use my jewel crafting to make a wire with gems designed to go into Aliyesa's hair. I plan to give it to her when the thing has been removed from her leg.
Just let me know how much I spent.
GM Kartari |
Correction: I mis-stated something in that DC 19 arcana check spoiler. "curse" is a spell descriptor, not a subschool of the transmutation school of magic.
GM Kartari |
Zelda, I believe you are referring to a belt of physical might +2? A fantastic choice. Let me get back to you on that, as I need to lookup a few things.
...
As for the jewelry, for under 150 gold you can find all the materials you need in Lepidstadt's market no problem. Let me know what kinds of gems or colors you have in mind, and I'll let you know what you can afford for under 150 gold.
Your expertise in jewelry would inform you that green and red stones would particularly go well with her style and complexion, though most anything would look great on her. You've seen her wear both silver and gold jewelry, and both look great on her.
You do particularly remember her having a silver and red carnelian jewelry set (four thin silver necklaces, two of which have red carnelians, and matching silver anklets and bracelets) that notably lacked a matching hair piece. You can find red carnelians for as low as 20 gold per gem, or 5 gold each for tiny red carnelians. This necklace roughly shows the two sizes I have in mind.
If you post in-game that you visit a shop, you can haggle and if you make a high enough Diplomacy check, you might even get the gems at a discount. :)
GM Kartari |
Zelda: I'll be generous and give it a 75% chance that you can find the exact belt you wish.
Normally in a "small city" there's a 15k gold limit (which 10k gp certainly meets), but I'd gravitate towards a 25% chance of finding the exact item if it's in the upper third of that max gold limit. If that failed, it would still be orderable, but would take 10 days to craft. So with the need for speed, I'm feeling generous. :)
A result of 25-99 or higher means Zelda can find the belt she wants in Lepidstadt ready for purchase:
Percentile Check: 1d100 ⇒ 46 <-- She can find it!
Sookie Clayten |
Since my character is fresh, I'm satisfied she has all the things she is willing and able to purchase at this time.
Christoph Metzger |
Argh... somehow missed the updates for this until now. I'll post on my lunch break.

Just studying the thing causes screaming tier pain and it's a curse of sorts? Nah, Christoph's passing that up the food chain to an actual healing cleric type.

Hey everyone! I'm going to be crunching on my thesis for the rest of this week so I'm unfortunately not going to be available much for pbp. I apologize for any inconvenience!
Zelda Lamplighter |
I believe that would be 24 gd, 7 silver, and 6 copper. Now i should have enouugh to enhance my new belt plus some extra for later projects
GM Kartari |
Sookie, absolutely no worries. Best of luck to you!
Naught, no worries.
Zelda, that's the correct price. Very nice.
GM Kartari |
Is Aliseya still grasping the door knocker while she's having her episode?
Yes, she is grasping one of them still. There are two brass knockers, one on each of the twin wooden doors, if you're wondering if you can knock on the door.
...
Not to rush you Naught, but I'll wait for her post before continuing.

I’m back from my thesis crunch! I’ll be getting caught up on pbps today and will try to get posts up in all of them by the end of the day. Thank you for understanding!
GM Kartari |
Not a problem, Sookie. I'll give you a chance to post before continuing.
GM Kartari |
I'll give it another day to see who decides to go into the room with Christoph.
Also, I hope all is well, Zelda. Haven't seen you post in a while.
