Male Half-Elf Oracle (Juju) 5

Once the wreck has been searched from top to bottom, and the 'take' itemised, Uchendu will once again make a point of ensuring the former crew get a 'sea burial', before turning his attention to the shore-line.

"If we intend to head back to camp over-land, we should keep an eye out for anything that could help Aerys..."

By the time you finish the search you are into the hottest part of the day.

Natalyah does not think the fight attracted any attention

Female / Female Human: Jambala Jaeg Descendent) and Deinonychus Saurian Shaman LVL 4

Atzi gives a cheer when the last of the skeletal crew falls to her comrades. After securing her sling she helps to search the wreck and properly dispose of the fallen sailors. Although as she finishes her own Burial prayers for the fallen the increasing hot temperatures cause her to give a low whistle at natures fury. "Perhaps we take shelter her on-board this wreckage? Or shall we push on friends?"

Wooties Level up~ =D

"We camp here during the heat", Natalyah states and finds a suitable spot on the wreck that let's her survey the shore line.

it would be quite possible to rest in the focs'le and leave someone on deck for a few minutes at a time to watch the shore.

Nothing occurs during your enforced rest..if you wish to make some character posts no problem otherwise well move on with todays journey

How far away are we from the camp? Do we have time to explore further down the island and still make it back, or would the walk back to camp take up the rest of the days "exploration time"?

This is assuming that we take the island route back ofc.

You would have to climb a cliff from the wreck. to get back on the island or struggle back against the current with the raft which would be almost impossible(DC25 Profession :Sailor check)

Your best bet is to look for a better landing place and then hoof it back to the campsite which you reckon is maybe 3 to 4 miles from where you are.

I do apologise for the lack of an updated map but the one I did was on the PC that died and I have not yet managed to do a new version on the replacement PC. It is coming soon but it takes about a day to do it.

Sounds fine to me.

Until such time as I have a new map done here is a blank map of the island.Currently you are just above the northern most bay on the east coast

Flashing forward abit

As the heat of the day settles gathers her gear from her makeshift guard camp and moves to the raft.

"We should continue down the coastline for a more suitable landing site. The rocks here are a unnecessary risk. We need to get moving if we are to make it back to camp."

There being no real way to object to Natalyahs' suggestion you board the raft and head further along the coast.. In fairly short order you find yourself entering a small bay with a shelving beach much like the one you landed at..A few of the small Euryptids scurry out off your way as you land.

Apart from the usual jungle noises nothing stirs. As predicted by Atzi it begins to rain

Scarab Sages

Amisi curses at the rain

"Can't it stop. How am I supposed to read in my spellbook or do any research in this damp weather. And torchlight when it is dry isn't the best way to research either"

Grumpily she disappears under the sail cloth where she can get as much shelter as possible from the rain - but she keeps her scrollcase locked.

Waiting for a good opportunity to get a few additional spells into the spell book. Sorry - was gaming too much at the weekend. On the bright side - I did introduce a couple back to gaming and into PFS. As an ahead warning - end of the month I will be at Conception and probably won't post at all. The week afterwards I'm in the US - but it's likely I will have WiFi at the hotel - so will try to post from there

Natalyah puts her hood on and moves to the edge of the jungle to find some shelter from the rain. "How long will it take to walk back to the camp?", she asks Atzi. Semi open question to the DM as well :) Basicly, should we move back directly to camp or do we have time to explore some more?

Female / Female Human: Jambala Jaeg Descendent) and Deinonychus Saurian Shaman LVL 4

As water runs down her dark face Atzi ponders for a moment, trying to recall the map of the island from several days earlier. As she remembered where they were she looked to the shore and blinked the rain from her eyes as she searched for a possible shore to beach their raft upon.

Atzi was smiling as she turned to Natakyah and tried to not yell over the wind and waves in answer to her question. [smaller]"Unless we return to land soon then it may only take us a few hours at best to return to our camp, if we searched we would be lucky to get there before full night was upon us. I am up for the task though friend Natalyah, the night holds no fear for me."@ Dm Wellard: Change this comment as you see fit :) I'm guesstimating since I don't know the mileage on the map lol

Atzi revels in the rain, she didn't fear drowning for the natural cycles were upon them. The world would will as it would and they would have to answer to it whether they wanted or not. So in the mean time Atzi continues to look happy and evergetic even though she is soaked to the bone.

Quetza soars above weathering the storm as best he can, screeching in annoyance at the riders on the raft at how slow they were moving. Every once and awhile he dipped into the water, catching fish in his claws so that he could keep his strength up.

You have maybe 3 hours of daylight left..in these latitudes there is little or indeed no twilight.if you chose to explore around here you would have to camp here overnight.

I'm concerned about the lack of response from Inkathru and hope I don't have to look for another player so soon after losing Storian

"You lead the way", Natalyah says and then follows in Atzi's footsteps, her eyes and ears peeled on the surroundings.

Survival check to assist Atzi: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Perception check: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (11) + 12 = 23
Knowledge (Nature) to recognize viper nettle (cure for aerys) if we pass one: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8

The half-elf reverts into her usual dour self during the trip back, cursing the weather and island in elven. Obviously distracted by the insects and rain she is not much of a help when navigating back.

yes, it does not look promising :(

Sorry for my absence over the weekend, got sick on Friday, plus my wife's away, so taking care of the kids by myself currently.

"Travelling thru the jungle in full daylight is treacherous enough, in the twilight, it would be folly."

Female / Female Human: Jambala Jaeg Descendent) and Deinonychus Saurian Shaman LVL 4

So in 3hrs we should be able to make it back to camp? And~ Are we applying the level up bonuses now or later?
Edit:The dice changed on me xD
Perception 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10(-4 if we don't apply the level up~ = 6 Perception instead)
Survival check1d20 + 11 ⇒ (15) + 11 = 26 (-5 from that for the old bonus and it is 21 Survival instead)
K: Nature check1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17 (-2 from that for the old bonus and it is 15 K: Nature instead)

If we are able to make our way back to camp, then this is what Atzi will do below~ if not I will have to change it up later :)

Atzi looks about thoughtfully for a moment before shrugging her shoulders. "We may not get as much done as we had hoped but we may find something interesting on the way back. " As she leads the way with Natalyah's help, she ask's Quetza to seek ahead of them just in case. As they move slowly back towards their main camp she continues to give off a happy and warm aura as she enjoys their wet walk through the dense jungle. Even though Natalyah seems off after the ride on the raft, Atzi doesn't seem to notice and continues to teach Natalyah what she can while they pick their way through the jungle and praises her friend on her superb senses. (Nice perception check~ :) )

Male Half-Elf Oracle (Juju) 5

Uchendu spends the warm part of the day playing with Ruthoc in the shade cast by part of the decking.

Once the warmest part of the day is past, however, he eagerly assists in finding a safe enough berth to allow access to the island, and a way to get back to camp.

Once the rain starts, he enjoys the cool feeling of the water dripping across his skin, and the fact that the precipitation will tend to keep most airborne insects at bay. Leeches are another matter, of course...

Survival Assist: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11.

levelling bonuses apply immediately

Inkathru makes the suggestion that you might want to consider moving the camp down towards this new bay.

You make your way back towards the camp staying within sight off the coast as far as you can and, after an hour or so find yourselves in what seems to be familiar terrain..you pick up your pace a little and are perhaps a 1/4 mile from the camp as the sun begins to dip swiftly towards the horizon.

Perception checks please with a -2 for the bad light.

Female / Female Human: Jambala Jaeg Descendent) and Deinonychus Saurian Shaman LVL 4

Perception 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19

Atzi tries to follow the semi familiar trail before them, but in the diminishing light she has some difficulties. As Inkathru suggests moving camp Atzi's happy go lucky spirit dampens, she is obviously uncomfortable but doesn't lend voice to what she thinks as she focuses on getting them back to camp.

Male Half-Elf Oracle (Juju) 5

Perception: 1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (11) + 9 - 2 = 18.

Despite the failing light, Uchendu's keen Elven senses serve him well as he tries to not get lost.

Would low-light vision provide some sort of bonus, or perhaps simply negate the penalty?

He mulls over Inkathru's suggestion to move the camp for a while, before responding:

"While I hate to uproot our camp, given how much time and effort we have invested in it already, since travel times through this jungle are quite long, it makes sense to move camp when we find good places to move it to - otherwise, we will eventually be spending nights away from camp; either that, or we cease exploring the island..."

Low light would indeed negate the penalty making your roll a 20.

Atzi breaks the trail withUchendu beside her his brawny form pushing aside the overhanging branches with ease..suddenly he spots two men trying hard to hide in the bushes ahead and failing completely to do so.

When they realise you have spotted them they jump to their feet and charge towards you howling an incoherent war cry

Natalyah 23
Howling Savages 20
Amisi +19
Uchendu +19
Cutlass +18
Inkathru 17
Atzi +17

The men who are atacking you wear little in the way of clothing or armou and carry light wicker shields, Javelins, which they seem to have forgotten abou,t and broken scimitars

Perception check: 1d20 + 12 - 2 ⇒ (13) + 12 - 2 = 23

"Uchendu is right. Of course we need to move the camp so we are able to keep exploring this island."

Round 1, initiative 23

"Pitë varansâ*!", Natalyah exlaims as the savages emerges from the brush. She draws her longbow and unleaches a arrow against the closest one in a smooth motion.

Elven:

Look out!

Move action to draw my long bow
Standard action to attack: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 6 + 2 = 28
Damage roll: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
(remove the +2 incase these are not human or elf)

Edit:
Crit confirmation roll: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 6 + 2 = 27
Crit damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

Male Half-Elf Oracle (Juju) 5

@Natalyah: Longbows are x3 Crit weapons; you need to roll an extra 1d8+2 :-)

Grinning wolfishly, Uchendu greets the charge of the savages head-on, and brings around his blade in a mighty blow at the one that Natalyah has not already claimed as rightful prey...

Uchendu would not dream of kill-stealing, unless it was the only opponent left standing ;-)

Elven Curve Blade: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15, 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14 Slashing damage.

He then snarls out:

"We cannot let them escape. We need to finish them off, quickly!"

Woohoo! \o/

3rd crit damage roll: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

Natalyah plants an arrow deep into one foemans gut and he turns to run. His companion charges into Uchendu but his wild stroke misses badly

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13

In return the Half Elf cuts him down with a single blow.

"Dees fools be attack'n wit' brokeen weepons, what dey be on aboot?" Mebbe we kin capture one o'dem."

Then whips his normal whip forward attempting to drop the closest one if still standing...

CMB1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

that's not gonna work

Female / Female Human: Jambala Jaeg Descendent) and Deinonychus Saurian Shaman LVL 4

Seeing the savage trying to escape Atzi, gives a strange call in the hopes that Quetza is nearby. Luckily she has her shortspear in hand and, through years of practice, she hefts her shortspear just above her right shoulder and gives it all she has hoping to take down the retreating man like a stuck pig.

Free Action: Call Quetza to attack, mainly she is hoping he is near enough to see their enemy, if anything he will just come circling back confused ;)
Standard Action: Attack1d20 - 1 ⇒ (18) - 1 = 17
Damage1d6 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2

If she misses or he does't go down

Atzi moves quickly after the retreating Savage, drawing out her last shortspear.

just realised that Uchendu's foe is staggered not down

Waiting for Amisi before I make a decision on Inkathru's actions

Male Half-Elf Oracle (Juju) 5

@Atzi: If you have told Quetza to attack, shouldn't you make an attack roll for Qetza? ;-)

Male Half-Elf Oracle (Juju) 5

@Atzi: I swear that I am not picking on you, but why is your attack with the thrown short spear -1? By my calculation, it should be: +1 (BAB) + 1 (Dex) = +2.

Female / Female Human: Jambala Jaeg Descendent) and Deinonychus Saurian Shaman LVL 4

Oops! Indeed you are correct, thats what I get for typing while tired lol I need to update some more of my sheet apparently xD, thanks Uchendu! And no worries best to pick on me some when I type nonesense!

My above attack would be 19 instead of 17 then. Sorry about that DM Wellard ^^;

[ooc]Ok forgot Thod was going to be away this week..And Uchendu Atzi's calculation was right due to the -2 for low light..[ooc]

Amisi throws out a hand and a bolt of force makes the runner stagger and slow down.Inkathru swings at Uchendu's opponent(she isn't bothered about kill steals)however she misses badly again

1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

Atzi throws her spear and brings down the fleeing man.

ok I'm going to call this fight because either nat takes the staggered guy out or he uses his action and falls unconcious.

FIGHT OVER

66XP each

Natalyah returns her longbow to her back and moves up to one of the downed savages. She draws her shortsword and makes sure that the savage is dead.

"Fellow shipwrecked?", she says in a dour voice suggesting that she does not believe it to be the case. "We need to hide these bodies and cover our tracks. These men are not ordinary predators. They will seek us out if they know we are here."

Male Half-Elf Oracle (Juju) 5

Thrown weapons are still ranged attacks, and as such, use your Dex bonus rather than your Str bonus when making an attack roll. You do apply your Str bonus to the damage roll, however. (As per the Combat section and the Weapons section of the Core rule book)

However, if you wish to rule that you use your Str bonus when making attacks with thrown weapons, that means that they are significantly better for high strength characters than 'other' ranged weapons, and Uchendu will dump his sling in favour of as many javelins as he can scavenge from those bodies...

That still means that Atzi has her bonus wrong... -1 Str + 1 BAB = 0, not -1.

Uchendu will move over, and search the bodies thoroughly for clues (and any loot).

"If they have been ship-wrecked, then they appear to have been here for quite some time..."

He pauses thoughtfully for a moment.

"We should minimize signs of combat, if at all possible. Amisi, can you use Prestidigitation to clean-up the blood (if not, we can just do our best to eliminate the blood spatter manually)? We can then cauterize the wounds to prevent further blood trails, and then give the bodies a sea burial to remove additional evidence. We should also 'clean-up' the surrounding brush to remove non-blood signs of combat, and then perhaps do our best to cover our tracks."

*Cough, Cough* It's not like Uchendu has ever had to do anything like this before... ;-)

Male Half-Elf Oracle (Juju) 5

@DM Wellard: I am not trying to be confrontational; if I am called on something, and I honestly believe I am correct, I will provide supporting evidence. The flip-side of this, is that when something is unclear, RAW-wise, though, I am always happy to go with the DM's 'official' ruling.

Liberty's Edge

Male Assimar Fighter / Paladin 1 / 1

I Went through and fixed my bonuses, sorry guys I should have been up to date when I leveled myself up but a few things slipped my mind -.-; I bought Hero Lab recently so I will probably convert Atzi to that and then I can update her more easily.

As Quetza lands near Atzi, looking confused at the lack of things to 'Attack'. He looks in Cutlass's direction for a moment before Atzi forcefully directs him towards the bodies. With a hiss of annoyance he complies, folding his wings up he starts moving awkwardly towards the corpses. With Questza in tow, Atzi walks up to the one she downed and pulls out her spear. She stands there for a moment with both hands on her shortspear and then without a sound she rams it home at the base of the savages skull, making a gruesome sound as it breaks through the bone.

She wrenches her spear out, nearly pulling the man up with it as she twisted it out of his flesh. Atzi's emotions were boiling as she turned back to her companions, her face was devoid of emotion as she survey's the damage caused in the fight.

"I agree with you friend Uchendu, I can create water and dilute the blood and ruin our print in this soft earth. I care not what is done with them, From now on I will follow the group and cover our trail, Natalyah it will be up to you to lead us. It is the only way that these... people, will not be able to easily find us

Male Half-Elf Oracle (Juju) 5

Uchendu raises an eyebrow at Atzi's expression of violence, but makes no comment.

"Savages they may have been, but they were still intelligent beings, and deserve some sort of burial... A sea burial is both quick, and convenient, in that it leaves very little trace."

He pauses briefly, before continuing.

"Once that is done, I will see what I can do about covering our own tracks."

Survival (to cover tracks):1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18.

"Deserve a burial", Natalyah snorts as she helps to carry the bodies to the shore. "Just make it quick." Then she looks out at the sea. "We will have to destroy the raft as well."

Once the burial and potential raftwrecking is complete she aids Atzi to cover the signs of battle.

Finally she sighs and moves to help take care of the bodies and helps to destroy the raft when the time comes.

Scarab Sages

Amisi watches the work of the other - seemingly awakening from something feeling like a trance.

Appology - wasn't away yet but rather normal life took over. Didn't even realise I hadn't checked since Thursday.

Scarab Sages

Listening to Uchendu, Amisi turns around and concentrates on her ring. She then cast a Prestigation - cleaning the blood as well as possible.

@Wellard - hadn't prepared the spell - so I'm using my bonded item to cast it.
@Uchendu - I don't use this spell often - therefore wasn't even aware that it's used to clean. Well - maube for clothes it's usedmore commonly. Might help a little bit.

Uchendu..I made my post then read RAW and ammended..because my misunderstanding would have caused further confusion..

Wrecking the raft isn't a viable idea as you were almost back at your camp when the attmpted ambush occured.

Inspection of the bodies reveals little of use you salvage 6 javelins .

The men have their teeth filed and are tattooed with strange symbols.

Disposing of the bodies over a cliff you finally make it back to camp just after full darkness.

Male Half-Elf Oracle (Juju) 5

No worries :-)

Couple of questions: These men - what is there ethnic extraction? Are they a lost tribe of poor Mwangi tribesmen, or some shipwrecked foreign devils? ;-) Also, what exactly are the symbols? Are there any appropriate Knowledge skills to identify them?

Once back at camp, assuming none of the others object, Uchendu will reveal to the other camp denizens the existence of the feral humans.

"I think that we need to be especially vigilant from now on. I seriously doubt that they were the only ones on this island, and since we encountered them so close to our camp-site, there is a distinct possibility that we may be attacked at some point."

"Additionally, we may wish to consider moving our camp site; that will allow us to continue to 'day-trip' away from camp as we explore the island, allowing us to all come together at night for mutual protection."

"It's not a wish. We must move the camp.", Natalyah mutters half to herself.

At night she spends her shift on the watch quietly watching the surrounding jungle. She hushes any atempts at conversation and jumps to her feat with her bow drawn at the slightest sound.

As Natalyah is relieved she falls into a restless sleep thinking about the savages.

The men are definitely not Mwangi..They are not even Garundi. The tattoos are off fiendish faces and skulls.

A DC 20 Heal check will reveal more.

Female / Female Human: Jambala Jaeg Descendent) and Deinonychus Saurian Shaman LVL 4

Heal Check1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20

With everyone secure back at camp, Atzi finally felt relieved when the other castaway's were accounted for. She pondered about the features of the feral humans and shuddered, the most disturbing thing to her was that they're teeth were filed to points. This was not what she had hoped for when she voiced her fears about not seeing people. She would gladly accept an isle devoid of their kind after what she had witnessed today!

She sighed as she recalled her overreaction, hopefully no one had seen if they did... hopefully they understood you. If there feral human rise as we she should have severed the heads, to prevent those feral humans from possibly returning to become an abomination. She shuddered at the thought of the screaming savages returning. In the same gruesome way the fallen sailors they keep encountering. She was puzzled as to why so many strange things happened on this isle, the Mwangi had its places too. But the Mwangi was far more vast then this place...

Quetza nuzzled her forcefully which, thankfully, dispelling her dark thoughts as he gave her a screech as he demanded her attention. She smiled at her friend and gave his scales a thorough scratching which made him rumble in pleasure. "Our next camp will be more abundant then this one, the game in this area I am sure is starting to move on because of intrusion. Hopefully our new camp will have a source of fresh water as well~"

Tired from the days activities Atzi goes about her duties of replenishing water and purifying the camps supplies. Yawning she smiles at Natalyah, who has taken on a dour tone for some reason, before she beds down with Quetza near their small campfire. She had to get rest to prepare for her early watch and meditate upon the mysteries revealed today.
