Atzi |
Atzi looks at Inkathru's bite wound and, after a few moments of deep thought, she shakes her head sadly. "Sorry friend Inkathru, I don't have any way to counter the venom and sadly my natural strength is already weakened greatly." She frowns slightly at the thought of another extended engagement.
Heal Check 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
Atzi smiles brightly as a thought occurs to her "Perhaps if we are lucky we will find another derelict to search, and mayhap there will be something on-board that can help."

Atzi |
Roger that, I didn't want to hold up the momentum we had going :) it was up to Inkathru anyway if she wanted to continue some more. :D
Pondering for a few moments Atzi turns back to her fellows. "Perhaps it would be best for us to rest for the day and allow friend Inkathru to have some time to let the venom leave her system." She looks between her comrades for a few moments, trying to gauge what they are thinking. "While she rests we can do some hunting and gather supplies for our camp. Maybe even search for a Blood Nettles grove nearby perhaps?"
DM Wellard |
Remember there are 10 off you..and the camp hunter brings in 8 man days of food a day..so every day you lose two days of your reserve rations..an afternoons hunting once or twice a week should solve that also you do have some potions of lesser restoration but they might best be left till you actually need them
Atzi |
I agree with you on that DM, were not in a tight spot where we need her to recover like RIGHT NOW so it would be best to conserve, but in 8hrs she'll recover the 1 str she lost so long as she has someone taking care of her. (Unless she can take care of herself? I don't think so but we do have Jask~)
Anyone else who wants to follow Us can as well, don't let my post fool you =D
Atzi and Natalyah's wanderings seemed to have a duel purpose as they search for a possible grove of Blood Nettles, they try to hunt some of the smaller game the jungle has to offer. (We could make seperate survival checks if you want, or if you still want to use the one I rolled from earlier boss man its upto you =). Atzi tries not to move to far away from their camp as her natural energy that day is mostly depleted, but she feels comfortable having Quetza nearby in case there is trouble. She also keeps her shortspear and buckler at the ready just in case.
Amisi |
Amisi stays in camp. Having exhausted part of her spells for the day she rather keeps it save. Anyhow - she isn't a hunter - and encharming an animal to kill it for food just feels wrong to her.
So she carries on reading and finally starts some writing again.
GM - I did ask before if the book contained clues that would allow Jask to show his innocence. As far as I'm aware Jask was hoping to find some evidence on a ship called Brine Demon.
Not sure if one of your remarks suggested we have the information already - if so - please spell it out in a more plain way, so I actually get it. Thanks.

Atzi, Natalyah and Uchendu spend the afternoon hunting and foraging.
Atzi Survival1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Natalyah Survival1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
Uchendu Survival1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
Between you you manage to gather enough excess food for 8 man days worth of rations.
The night passes peacefully..however in the Morning Storian has disappeared. You follow his tracks to the waters edge on the beach but there is no sign of a body
Waited for Storian long enough so I'm putting out a call for a replacement.. Atzi... Inkatru didn't need attention as the poison had run it's course. Amisi.. The Brine Demon is somehow involved in Jask's case but the proof of his innocence is there ..all he knows is that it went aground on Smugglers Shiv..it will be up to you to find it.
Atzi.
Amisi |
Amisi looks through the log book from the wreck of the unknown ship to find out the name of the ship.
Wellard - we seem to miscommunicate here.
My main question was - is the wreck we found the Brine Demon or not. I did assume a Log-Book of a ship should mention in bold letters the name of ship and captain (and maybe even crew). So provided the wreck is the Brine Demon, then it is worthwhile to find out more and to try to find clues for the innocence of Jask. In this case I can role-play to find out more information.
On the other hand - if it isn't the Brine Demon, then we rather look out for another ship wreck. I have no clue how common ship wrecks are.
PS:Just figured out what I had missed all the time - the ingraving on the ships bell. Sorry - I missed that. So it isn't the Brine Demon
DM Wellard |
That's easy Xaaon
You search along the beach hoping to find Storian or at least some clue to his vanishing..instead you find another set of tracks leading inland..following them to the edge of the jungle you discover a tall wiry man dressed in somewhat bedraggled if still finely made sailors clothing and studded leather armour...He's asleep or so it seems.
The other thing you note it that his uncovered arms are heavily tattooed
Atzi |
Atzi approaches slowly and stands near Natalyah as they wait for the strange man to respond. Quetza comes up beside her a moment later and sniffs at the mans foot before Atzi chides him and he moves back behind her with a huff. After a moment Atzi turns and scratches his head crests and he begins to emit a low murr. She chuckles as she whispers to Quetza "This one is not for eating friend, you are always hungry.
Atzi watches to see if the man's chest is rising and falling with normal breathing.
Heal: Observation only 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
"Hopefully this one is still alive yes?" She watches the man curiously.
Cutlass Kallakan |
Kallakan jumps to his feet, pulling the whip from his belt. Looks around still groggy.
"HAH! HellOOO ladies! Allow me to introduce myself, I am one Kallakan, The Voice of the Sea. My shipmates called me Cutlass Kallakan" The large fellow lowers his whip
"Am I rescued??" Kallakan asks with a massive smile.
Atzi |
Atzi chuckles but her laughter dies away quickly when the stranger asks about their ship. "I am sorry to say that you are still stranded, our ship was dashed on the rocks and is in no way capable of taking us anywhere. Also Storian was a warrior in our group who has mysteriously vanished..." She shudders as she silently traces a ward of protection in the air.
Quetza shoves his way forward with intent at Atzi's sudden shaking, he keeps close to her in a supportive way, as he watches this strange new comer with large reptilian eyes. She calms him down with a few words in a strange language druid thing ;) before turning back to the stranger. "We are all stuck in this place, and although the jungle is brimming with life... I fear... there is more to this place. A darkness..." Atzi grows silent as she is distracted by her thoughts.
Amisi |
Amisi finally steps out from the shadows. With her broadest smile (yes she has charming as a trait) she approaches the strange new sailor.
Shipwrecked as well? You are not the only one and it looks like Shelyn and some of the other gods seem to have all of us gathered here for a yet unknown reason. It isn't by chance that we meet you - there is a deeper fate that seems to bind together everyone who gets shipwrecked here.
So welcome - no you aren't rescued yet - but I'm sure you will play part in helping us to get away from this island and in this way rescue yourself as well.
Atzi |
I mean't to respond sooner, but i've been horribly forgetful lately. I'm not sure if Atzi has any idea who or what the Red Mantis are, but she will entertain Sasha just to be polite.
Atzi will listen patiently and ask questions about things Sasha is talking about but she remains polite and open to what Sasha says and allows her to vent her frustrations. Once Sasha is done explaining Atzi admits that although she may not know anything about the Red Mantis or Sasha's mothers motives. She is excited at the idea of learning any technique's that Sasha will teach her and that she has nothing to worry about from Atzi about belittling her. "I try to live simply friend Sasha, if I feel the need to say something. I will speak my mind. That way tensions do not rise between any of us and I try to always speak to others as an equal."
Quetza huffs at Kallakan before Atzi can shush him, she politely declines on the grog. "Normally Quetza is not like this, my apologies. I must decline on the drink with how this Jungle has been I prefer to keep my wits, friend Kallakan but thank you." She nods politely as she herds Quetza off to the side and seems to be talking to her companion. After a few minutes she returns and her companion seems a little more amiable.
"If you wish to drink your grog and travel with us, then I for one have no issue. We are still searching for our friend Storian. But we are also keeping our eyes out for some of the other wreckages that dot this saw toothed island. We are looking for a ship called the Brine Demon, I think?"
Cutlass Kallakan |

"Please...call me Cutlass. I have not seen this Brine Demon as of yet. It is, acceptable, if one of your crew vanished, it is only right to be cautious."
Cutlass Kallakan |
Natalyah lowers her bow and takes a step back as Amisi and Atzi welcomes the new castaway. She studies Cutlass trying to size him up. His offer of a drink is met with a cold stare.
Sense motive: 1d20+2
"Come along if you wish. Just don't be a sinker."
"Careful there, little half-elf you might hurt your neck looking up so much..." Then he drinks some ale and has a small portion of some beef jerky from his rations.
Atzi |
Atzi tries to bury her sadness, as they are now faced with Storian's unknown demise, forcing back her tears she clasps her hands together in silent prayer. She turns away, trying to ignore the reality that their friend was lost to them, and hugs Quetza's head to her chest. Quetza remains sitting on his haunches not quite understanding what had upset his master. After a few moments Atzi released Quetza from her firm hold and continued to look away from where Storian's tracks had ended. She keeps a fair distance away from the others.
"We cannot remain here, looking for that which is lost to us. Not when there are others who are relying on us to find a way off this island. Forgive me friends..." With that Atzi and Quetza slowly begin heading back to camp. Or they continue searching along the north coast, depending on what time of day it is ;)
DM Wellard |
It's still relatively early in the morning..
Atzi..In my Runelords game I have just made a houseruling on Animal companions. The rule on animal handling says that "Normally, an animal will attack only humanoids, monstrous humanoids, giants, or other animals. Teaching an animal to attack all creatures (including such unnatural creatures as undead and aberrations) counts as two tricks" The defend trick however does not need to be taught twice
I'm going to house rule that companions do not fall under the 'normal 'category and that the empathic link will act as the extra training required for attack..it only makes sense
Atzi |
Sounds good to me DM Wellard, I was just trying to roleplay Quetza's reaction as best I could ;) even that big lizard of mine has his limits. Didn't want to make a mistake and have an advantage I normally shouldn't have but thanks for letting me know about your house rule :D that will make things a lot easier!
@ Everyone: Unless others decide they want to return to camp early, then Atzi is willing and able to continue exploring. Traveling along the north coast and heading east was the consensus I think? That way we could keep an eye out for wreckages, before doubling back to our camp over a more inland route to cover ground?
Natalyah Melethiell |
"Careful there, little half-elf you might hurt your neck looking up so much..." Then he drinks some ale and has a small portion of some beef jerky from his rations.
Natalyah stares for a moment as she tries to come up with a retort. But as she fails to do so her anger get's the better of her and she turns and walks back to the beach, muttering to herself in elven.
Well on the beach she stands where Storians footprints stop and turns to Atzi. "What did you mean with a darkness?"
As far as i understand it's still just morning, so we should continue to explore the island. Atzi's suggestion sounds good to me.
Atzi |
Exploration it is then =)
When Natalyah comes to stand by Atzi, its obvious that the druids usually open and friendly demeanor has been replaced by a more somber expression as she stares off at the wreckage of the Jenivere. When she finally looks at the her half elven friend, her eyes bare the look of steely resolve. She her response is quiet as she talks to Natalyah but anyone who is approaching will most likely hear it. I mean just that friend Natalyah. Darkness hides many things and although this island is full of life, there is one thing it lacks." She turns to stare for a moment more at the wreckage of their ship before looking back at her friend.
"This island lacks people... I am sure there are more then a few wrecks on these shores and most ships that would come this far would carry dozens of crewmen to work them, yet I see nothing to show anyone has come before. Ever since I saw those kutembea kufa, the walking dead, my gut tells me there is something wrong with this place. Now Storian has vanished, nothing left behind, no sign of a struggle, simply gone. Leaving nothing but our memories to remind us he existed at all..." Her steely eyes soften and she looks away sadly. "We must continue on though, we have to much ground to cover and not enough time before the heat slows us again."
Atzi is ready to move on whenever everyone else wants too ( ^_^)-d, yeah I missed that we slept through the night, I thought I was still missing my spells. lol that was the only reason why I suggested heading back, my bad ^^;;
Atzi |
Atzi pauses, pondering on what Cutlass suggested for a moment before responding. "Perhaps but I remember Storian from before we became wrecked on this isle." She paused a moment looking somewhat embarrassed "It is hard to explain what I feel without sounding like a mad woman. I guess what I mean is that their is something with this Island that I cannot quite figure out. Something greater may lurk on these shores or it may be like some of the old legends of dark places in the great Mwangi, places only the brave or foolish would venture alone to possibly be swallowed forever by darkness."
Adjusting her bag on her back, she draws her scimitar and stands ready to continue on with their exploration. "Hopefully we will find something new today that may help us understand, be ready friend Cutlass because so far this island has not been welcome to our roaming and each day we have been faced with enemies." She smiles at the whip slung on his side, "Yako nyoka mkia alikuwa bora kuwa na baadhi ya bite, kwa sababu mimi nina uhakika utakuwa anatuonyesha jinsi ya muhimu ni leo~"
"Your snakes tail had better have some bite to it, because i'm sure you will be showing us how useful it is today~"
Uchendu Kybwa'ka |
Uchendu carefully regards the party's newest addition, trying to fathom him as best he can...
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11.
Noting Cutlass' somewhat lusty comments, Uchendu scowls slightly.
Great. Just what we needed. A song smith with a taste for the women. I hope he does not disrupt the fragile balance of trust and morale that we have here...
He shakes himself from his reverie when the discussion shifts towards exploring the island further.
"The faster we explore the island, the quicker we can resolve the issues of our fellow passengers, and hopefully get off this island ourselves. I would certainly support further exploration today."
Atzi |
Mistaking Uchendu's scowl for impatience, Atzi quickly check's her gear again and then she asks Quetza to seek ahead of them. After giving her a playful growl, which she responds with a light laugh as she quickly scratches his head ridges before he scrambles away in his awkward gait. As Quetza takes to the air Atzi turns and nods at Uchendu before quickly taking her forward position with Natalyah.

Atzi looks out at the ship and frowns as she surveys the waters between the cliff and the ship.
