*Arabeth* |

Arabeth drifts closer to the conversation about weapons. She listens for a while before commenting.
"A weapon is a tool. Nothing more, nothing less." She looks to Lesith.
"It is in the hearts and minds of those who use any tool as to purpose and intent. In my time at my temple home I have had the good grace to meet many individuals. Some would offer demonstrations of their skills in way of donation to the temple. Some folk train themselves as weapons. Others? They can turn anything, a simple pole... a silk scarf or," And Arabeth smiles at seeming fond memories, "Why, even a large loaf of bread can have its uses."
"That young Vincent feels the need to exercise is a good thing and should be encouraged. All age differences can do with supervision." Arabeth adds, not making a distinction either way as to younger or older. (:P) She smiles to Lesith.
"What lies within the hearts of others? Yes, that is a noble calling to bring joy and light to." She bows her head in acknowledging the other woman's world view. "But many different races, creeds and such live in the world... Not all touched by the grace of goodness... "

Poterol |

Poterol rolls his eyes and goes back to looking at the scenery, muttering under his breath for a few moments.

Cernan the Patient |

"I am sorry to differ... skill with a weapon is what makes you kill others, and later on get killed yourself. You stay alive by learning to cooperate with others. Love, trust and brotherhood, that's the skills you need to survive."
"You folks sure are keen on oversimplifying. Although I suppose Arabeth has the right idea. You don't need a weapon to kill someone, unless you lack creativity. A weapon just makes it easier to kill someone without too much skill. True skill with a weapon means knowing how to disarm your enemy, parry their attacks, and use that weapon without killing."
"Though some of us have better things to spend our time on, and I suppose some of us don't."

Marius Rizallo |

Marius is a little hesitant to talk about his family, as they parted on less than ideal terms. Eventually he opens up, a little, though his tone is still rather cautious. He grew up in northern Taldor, on the edges of a vast forest and the relatively barren lands of the north. While his family had intended for him to be a simple workingman, he'd always felt like it didn't suit him. Born with good looks, a talent for music, and a love of the wilderness, Marius was little like his parents. Needless to say, they did not always see eye to eye.
In the end, it all ended in a massive and very loud argument. He left when he was hardly old enough to live on his own, and has been doing so ever since.
Well, him and Rex.
Upon arriving at the gates of Vigilant, Marius is pleasantly surprised to find a mule waiting for him. Not the most dignified of transport, but Marius was never one for dignity. And worst came to worst, Rex would have a hell of a meal.
"Many thanks, Eli. These should make the road a little easier on us."
In time, Marius finds himself drawn back into the discussion of weapons and violence. He admired Lesith's tenacity in her beliefs, and a true pacifist in this world was hard to find.
"Cernan's got a point. Not everyone has the luxury of being able to avoid conflict through more diplomatic means. Sometimes it comes down to a man's ability to defend himself. Love and trust - those are all fine and dandy, but only amongst others who care to listen."
Marius drifts off for a moment, pondering his own ventures. Wondering just how many people were willing to listen to him, and how many had him at the wrong end of a pointy stick.
"Just because someone is capable of defending themselves doesn't mean they take lives without regard. That is the realm of true evil, and something I don't think any of us condone. To take even the life of a beast," Marius pauses as he looks down at Rex, "is to take the life of another living creature. Regardless of how one accomplishes it, it should not be done lightly."

Vincent Del Sol |

Vincent continues doing parlor tricks, than simply looks up at Lesith, Dont worry so much. I have used a dagger all my life. Sometimes to help me survive with some food in my belly. Other times to protect myself from the other people of this cruel world. You say "skill with a weapon is what makes you kill others, and later on get killed yourself." How can you generalize my life and experiences and assume I kill others. I have before...but it doesn't mean I enjoy it
He than turns to the others that have joined in the conversation about weapons and safety.
My life has been hard, much as many others. I have had many nights without food, or water. The clothes on my back have ranged from almost nothing at times, to fully clothed like I am now. You would prefer me to not carry a weapon, and you probably would not have the chance to meet me for I would be dead in a gutter. Just because I could attempt to find a way out, others don't give a rats piss about finding a non-violent solution.
I will have to simply agree to disagree, and leave it at that
With his final thougt, he stows his dagger, and listens to the various naturalness around him from Poterol.
So, how long have you been interested in the natural world?

Poterol |

Poterol smiles at the young man. "All of my life. I was born to, and raised by, elves of the forest, mind you, not those who have gone to human 'civilization'. I learned of root and branch, berry and seed, fur and feather from my Ma and Da." His expression goes soft for a moment. "But that was a long time ago, young Vincent. Almost another life ago..." His words trail off for a moment or two, then he picks up again, describing some of the birds in the trees, and their natural predators, like the one traveling with the group.

Natanja Ogenj |

Before they set off on the road, Natanja took possession of one of the mules and pack saddles and gave her sincere thanks to Eli who had procured one for each of the cousins.
To the assembled group Natanja relayed her forecast, "The weather will continue to be mostly dry and quite warm, from what I can determine. However, I sense there may be some rain in the coming days."
During the course of the travel, Natanja (with the counsel of Cernan) managed to steer the group clear of obstacles and such; even managing to discover some edible wild berries, which she picked and stored for a sweet treat after supper.
She listened silently as the conversation moved to weapons. Instead of speaking, she sent Oko up into the sky (50 ft) to get a better view of the road from above and beyond their current position (to determine any possible threats up ahead). Even though the hawk could not speak the Common tongue, their strong bond often meant she could feel Oko's reaction to danger. In addition, if the distant threat was serious enough in nature, Oko would issue a series of grating cak-cak-cak calls in alarm as she had done many times in the past.
Oko's Perception from the sky: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (18) + 14 = 32

.. when he gets a chance, in idle conversations along the road, he will try to ask others in the group what they remember of their parents, grandparents, etc., in an attempt to work out some sort of family tree.
When Cernan enquired about their respective families, Natanja openly shared the information she knew of hers, "My parents and brother were human. My father Demian, mother Brana and brother Branek. My human paternal grandparents were Ogenj: grandfather Borys, grandmother Lida. My human maternal grandparents were Korda: grandfather Milo, grandmother Jurisa. I had a great, great, great, great grandfather on my mother's side named Eran Korda who was Emberkin and whose bloodline I inherited. I hope that helps in your research of the family line, Cernan."
When the group rests or when there is downtime, Natanja will allow Oko to fly and hunt so she can feed, and Natanja will pull out her journal and inkpen and note any notable landmarks and such on the pages -- referencing food and water sources along the way.
Oko's Stealth when searching for food: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
Oko's Survival - searching/hunting for game/quarry: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20

*Arabeth* |

Arabeth returns a smile to Chap,
"Did you not experience a visitation of the divine?" She asks.
"I received again some thoughts of that which has urged us to join together. The tale of 'be-gating' which was enfolded within strikes myself as slightly amusing. Then again, my temple life has made such ideas seems as is common, so I can understand my reactions might not match those of other upbringing...." Arabeth strokes the collar of her great cloak.
"As for a dream of wings?" Arabeth eyes Chap with a slight arch to her eyebrow, "I do not feel free enough yet to comment on such things...".
Wishing every one all the very best. (^_^)

Lesith Gala |

"It saddens me to say sometimes you are correct, and conflict can not be avoided. But we must strive to prevent it. And yes, things are simple. None is "born bad". The lack of love makes people bad. And the solution is not to kill them. As for Vincent, I only want to prevent any harm from happening to him."

Marius Rizallo |

"And so we shall make every attempt to avoid violence. Your intentions are admirable, but so too are Vincent's. Don't think ill of his character - or any of ours - because of a proclivity with a weapon of war."
Marius gestures to Rex, walking patiently at his side.
"As a wolf with no teeth would perish in the wilds, these lands are harsh. Love may be the answer to all things, as you say, but who is to say the world wants to listen? God knows the wilderness runs on its own rules, and men are often not so different from the animals they claim superiority over."

Kiwyn the White |

Returning from her reverie, Kayahidye tilts her head to a side slightly with a gentle, warm smile. Her expression as she looks at Kiwyn exudes unconditional acceptance.
"That is adorable, if you don't mind me saying. It must have been wonderful to have such a loving mother, when you were with her."
She pauses to reflect a moment, "Makes me wonder, what my mother would have called me, whoever she is, if I had known her... a bitter sweet thought!"
Natanja did not speak her thoughts aloud but filed away what she had sensed from Kiwyn.
“Missing family I am well familiar with. Mayhap now we are together, we can forge connections and friendships.” Natanja warmly smiled.
Kiwyn relaxes when it seems the two accept her excuse and smiles until Kaya mention not know hew own mother. "Oh my, I apologize. I did not think before I spoke." The young girl looks mortified that she was thoughtlessness. "You just told us you did not know your parents I callously speak of my own. Please forgive me."
Before leaving town, as the Eli tasks several of the others with preparations Kiwyn smiles at Lesith’s offer.
”Thank you. I hope I am not a burden.”
Once on the road she listens to the others speak about everything from family to fighting. After her thoughtlessness before she says little about her family. Only that she saw little of them growing up with the monks and priests of her temple.
She agrees with Arabeth, Cernan and Marius.”Indeed, most weapons themselves, in fact, began as tools. There are many schools and temples in my home lands devoted to learning how to focus on one’s own strength without the desire to use a weapon.”
She looks over at Marius. ”I fear deaf ears are all but too common in these days. There are times in each lifetime when fear, or hate, or ignorance swell and rise like a river during a storm. In the past, my lands saw a time when all the people came together to defend the kingdom from the nomadic horselords of the neighboring plains. They eventually constructed the greatest defense against barbarians. The Dragonwall.
The last bit begin spoken with a hint of wonder in her voice. ”I myself have never had the opportunity to see it with my own eyes, but I hope to someday.” She chuckles sheepishly.
During stopping for camp that evening Kiwyn helps where she can. Though after an incident where the girl does not return for nearly half an hour after volunteering to fetch water from a nearby stream because she got distracted by the local vegetation and animals, she is relegated to helping within sight of the camp unless accompanied.
I was originally gonna say an hour. But I figured someone would go looking for her before that long. :p

Brit "Chap" Norgant |

A secret can be difficult to keep and equally difficult to share but life seems to run on them. Our concern is how secrets are used, whether to protect or to hurt, and until we are sure as to which, you've no need to comment or fret. We all have secrets, some we keep even in spite of ourselves.
Strive to be called men?! Chap scoffs, Striving to gain that title is the problem, or any title for that matter. The only one you should be worried about seeking favor with, is not someone that differentiates you from a boy or a man. Being called a man and the pursuit of it is rooted in the ego. Poor decision's are born from there often.

CS Game Post 3
The days on the road pass with a mix of spirited debate and pleasant conversation as you get to know your new allies. The weather remains warm and dry. The night watch lookouts among you find no significant cause for concern. The mules clip-clop along.
Poterol, please mark 2 days rations used for everyone in the group from the group rations. It would be more, but I figure Shyness, Marius, and Natanja helped out with hunting and/or gathering berries, and Lesith with cooking, along the way, and the mounts could graze, somewhat.
After traveling for a few days, you break off the main road and head down a smaller dirt road toward Endurant.
While still some ways away from the village, your group suddenly falls under attack.
Four nasty little flying creatures appear right next to your traveling party, as if out of nowhere, surrounding your group.
Only about two feet tall each, they have wings, tails, reddish skin, and grotesque features.
They seem to radiate a sense of wrongness as one attacks Eli, one attacks Aeryth, one attacks Chap, and one attacks Kiwyn, with stingers on the ends of their tails.
Hideous shrieks emanate from the four creatures as they appear and attack:
The one attacking Eli succeeds at stinging him.
Eli loses 3hp, fails a fortitude save vs. poison, and temporarily loses 2 points of Dexterity.
On your action, Eli, roll another fortitude save to avoid losing more Dexterity at the end of your turn.
The one attacking Aeryth fails to do any damage, its stinger just scraping off his tough armor.
The one attacking Chap succeeds at stinging her.
Chap loses 1hp, fails a fortitude save vs. poison, and temporarily loses 1 point of Dexterity.
On your action, Chap, roll another fortitude save to avoid losing more Dexterity at the end of your turn.
The one attacking Kiwyn succeeds at stinging her.
Kywin loses 3hp, then succeeds at a fortitude save vs. poison to avoid further effects from the stinger.
Eli, Aeryth, Chap, and Kiwyn are each adjacent to one of the creatures and are considered to be engaged in melee.
The rest of you could take a move action to become adjacent to (or even to flank) one of the creatures, if you so choose. (If you do, specify which.) Or, you could remain where you are and be about 15-25 feet away from whichever one is closest to you, but remember, most ranged attacks will take a -4 penalty for firing into melee. (You can decide which critter you happen to be closest to.) (Remind me if you have Precise Shot or anything else that negates the penalty for firing into melee.)
(Also, before posting your actions, see the note on mounts below!!)
You could also choose to take a different sort of action, such as helping heal Eli, Chap, or Kiwyn. Just clarify if you move up behind one of them, and what exactly you do.
This is the initiative order in which I will resolve your actions at the end of the round, in the next gameplay post:
Natanja
Kiwyn
Chap
Aeryth
Azmaria
Marius
Arabeth
Cernan
Kaya
Vincent
Poterol
Lesith
Shyness
Eli
You do not have to wait to post in order.
If you're attacking, be sure to specify whether you move and which target you're attacking, and with what.
We can call the enemies Eli's Critter, Aeryth's Critter, Chap's Critter, and Kiwyn's Critter.
Roll your attack and damage, or clarify the effects of any spell you cast, and whether a save is allowed, and, if so, what the DC is. Specify any damage types.
If you declare that you're attacking a creature which actually happens to get destroyed before your initiative count, then I will simply transfer your attack to another creature. (Feel free to declare a just-in-case back-up target if you're low in the initiative count, in case your primary target gets destroyed before your turn.)
Also, if you have an animal companion that can attack, assume they do so on your initiative, and make any appropriate rolls.
FYI, I rolled to see which four of you the creatures would attack and I rolled for your initiative order (adding your modifiers) and the critters' attacks and your fortitude saves (when applicable). No, it isn't posted for you to see. Consider it done behind the GM screen. You'll just have to trust me sometimes. :)
Please ONLY read the following spoilers IF
your character has and takes an action to use the listed ability
or is trained in the listed skill and rolls a high enough check in a post you make here in this thread:
TALKING DURING COMBAT:
If your character succeeds at one of the above checks, or has something else to say, he or she can shout a few words of warning or whatever to the group or to the critters, but remember, this is all taking place within about six seconds, so no epic monologues, or major back-and-forth dialogue please. :)
PAST DISCUSSIONS:
If you also want to jump back in time and RP a few more in-character discussions that happened on the way here, presuming they have nothing to do with this attack, that would be fine. Just put them in spoiler tags (here in this gameplay thread) labeled "Past Discussion on the Road" or "Jane Talks to John Yesterday" or something like that.
A NOTE ON MOUNTS:
These critters attacked while you were traveling and you had no reason to expect combat, so many of you may be riding. Please clarify whether your character is on horse/muleback or not at the time of the attack, and whether or not you dismount as part of your actions. It is a move action to mount or dismount, unless you make a DC 20 ride check to fast mount/dismount as a free action.
If Eli, Chap, or Kiwyn are currently mounted, they should attempt a DC 5 ride/dexterity check to avoid falling out of the saddle, since they took damage.
If they fail it, they should attempt another ride/dexterity check DC 15 to soft fall, or else take falling damage: 1d6 ⇒ 4 and wind up prone.
If your mount is not specifically war-trained, and if you choose not to dismount, then you need to succeed on a DC 20 ride/dexterity check to be able to both control the mount and attack. If you fail the check, all your energy that round goes to controlling the mount, and you can't make attacks.
SPEEDING UP COMBAT:
If everyone has posted round one actions by Monday or Tuesday evening, and if I have the time to do so, then I will end the round and make the next gameplay post then.
After that, if everyone has posted round 2 actions by next Friday evening, I will end the second round and make a gameplay post next Friday evening or next Saturday.
If we are able to complete two rounds a week, it will definitely speed up combat.
This is my hope.
(However, if people aren't able to post two actions a week during this combat phase, I will resume the usual one update per week schedule.)
Game on! :)

Elysium "Eli" Blackdun |

While Eli doesn't have to be mounted for speed, in order to make the most of traveling days, he likely was.
DEX/Ride to stay mounted: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11
DEX/Ride to fall soft, if needed: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15
Move action: dismount.
.
Attack Eli's Critter (or closest melee alternative) with quarterstaff: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Staff Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Smoothly, Eli holds his position, and calmly slips into dismount, and - not having any silver to follow Cernan's advice, swings his staff, though the lingering pain created by the evil spirit (with a foul mouth) was clearly affecting his ability to strike cleanly.
Fortitude: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9 Welp, I take more DEX damage. Yay? :/ (Ah, well. :D)
EDIT: Well, Eli doesn't fall, but, daggum, he's not hitting anything, and if he does, it certainly doesn't hurt it! :P
EDIT: Again to add description, and then to respond to Cernan who - like everyone else, acts before him!

Cernan the Patient |

Ride (fast dismount): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15
Cernan attempts to jump out of the saddle, but fails, and winds up taking a few seconds stepping down. Frowning, he casts Mage Armor on himself. (AC is now 16)
Knowledge (local): 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (17) + 11 = 28
Knolwedge (planes): 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (10) + 11 = 21
"Silver weapons!" Cernan shouts. "And watch out, they heal themselves!"

Round 1
Shyness distrusts the beasts and feels she can keep up without a mount. It can only make one weaker to rely on a beast to be your legs. She is roused from her musings as the creatures attack. Seeing her newfound family being attacked gives her a moment's pause, causing her to react slowly. Once she recovers, she acts decisively, but carelessly.
Primary target: Kiwyn's Critter
Secondary: anything left
Move action: move to flank
Standard: Claw attack

Lesith Gala |

Lesith is riding near Aeryth when the attack happens.
Riding check to Fast Dismount: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
She is unable to do it quickly enough, and she is unable to close the distance to Aeryth.
She seems really hurt at Aeryth comment.
"Those are fiends... it is our sacred duty to eradicate them!"
She casts Summon Monster to conjure a Celestial Eagle next to Aeryth's Critter (or some other is his is dead), flanking it together with Aeryth.
The shining Celestial Eagle full attacks the Imp, using its Smith Evil ability.
Talon 1 Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
Talon 1 Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Talon 2 Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

Natanja Ogenj |

Round 1
Know. Religion: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
Natanja cursed under her breath. The damn imps were immune to fire. Eth guide and protect me!
(As free action) "Imps - tough skin, can heal and turn invisible! Sting!" as a follow-up to the information already given by the ever-knowledgeable Cernan.
She dismounted her mule (not wanting it to bolt under her during the attack) (move action) and drew her masterwork morningstar (move action) as she had no silver weapon on her person and her fire magic was rendered useless in this fight.
Oko descends 25 ft (and is now 25 ft overhead and closer to Natanja) and remains in the air, circling/flying.

Knowledge Nature: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Marius bolts into action as soon as the beasts appear - he wasn't sure exactly what they were, but knew that no real beast of the forest spoke with a foul tongue like that. Most of them didn't really talk at all. He had flashbacks to his first meeting with Rex, and quickly glances over to his friend.
Rex was poised for battle, teeth bared and hair bristling with both anger and fear.
"Sic 'em, bud," he shouts over the sound of battle. "That one!" He gestures towards the closest beast, the one attacking Chap. For a moment, Marius closes his eyes and shares his strength with Rex, hoping the wolf will aid his companions in time.
Using Animal Focus to apply +2 Str to Rex.
Handle Animal - attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (12) + 11 = 23
Rex charges into battle, moving around behind it leaping towards the creature.

Dmg: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Free Trip: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
While Marius knew his mount was far from a noble warhorse, given the strange nature of their attackers - it was almost a blessing to have a mule. Stubborn as all hell, they'd go just about anywhere you told them. He kicked his legs while pulling his sword free, driving the mule closer to the beasts.
Handle Animal - Ride into battle: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19

Round 1
Ride (stay in saddle) 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
Kiwyn is nearly knocked from out of the saddle when the creature seems to appear out of thin air and strike her. As one of the demon looking things jabs a toxic stinger into the little lady she yelps in pain, grabbing tightly on to whom ever she is sharing a horse with.
I wasn’t sure if anyone else would share the fun of toting around the little archaist. :)

CS Game Post 4 - Resolving Imp Combat Round 1, Starting Imp Combat Round 2
After traveling for a few days, you broke off the main road and headed down a smaller dirt road toward Endurant.
While still some ways away from the village, your group suddenly fell under attack.
Four nasty little flying creatures appeared, shrieking, right next to your traveling party, as if out of nowhere, surrounding your group.
Only about two feet tall each, they had wings, tails, reddish skin, and grotesque features.
They seemed to radiate a sense of wrongness as one attacked Eli, one attacked Aeryth, one attacked Chap, and one attacked Kiwyn, with stingers on the ends of their tails.
Round 1 PC Actions in Initiative Order:
Natanja curses the imps for being fire-proof, shares information about them with the group, dismounts, and draws her morningstar, as Oko swoops nearby.
Kiwyn dismounts and carefully backs away from the critter threatening her, stepping out of immediate melee range.
Chap dismounts on the far side of her mule, curses at her imp, manages to shake off any further damage from the poison, and then completely skewers the imp with her longspear, stabbing clean through it, and watching it drop to the ground like a rock.
Although Chap's imp has been silenced, the other three shriek in fury.
Aeryth, riding his war-trained horse, swings what looks like it would have been a vicious sword stroke at the fiend in front of him, but the imp flits quickly out of the path of the blade.
Azmaria slips off her mule while drawing her pistol, identifies the imps, speaks holy threats, and with a loud KABANG, she fails to hit Eli's imp, and narrowly avoids shooting Eli.
Marius commands Rex to attack the critter menacing Aeryth. Rex leaps and succeeds in snagging the flying imp with his sharp teeth, momentarily dragging it lower to the ground as it squawks in surprise, but ultimately failing to pierce the super-tough imp skin. Marius himself rides his mule closer to Aeryth's critter, but even the tough mule brays and shies away slightly from the hideous fiend, causing Marius's sword swing to go wide as he maintains his grip on the mule.
Arabeth remains on her light horse, establishes a life link with Chap, and learns that reaching for her 'Scorching Rifle' wouldn't help against these imps.
Cernan warns others about the imps' capabilities, dismounts, and wards himself with Mage Armor.
Kaya leaps into the air and flies impressively down toward the imp who had attacked Kiwyn, but the agile critter flaps out of the way of her swiftly approaching Catfolk foot.
Vincent quickly slips behind the imp who attacked Kiwyn and expertly stabs a dagger through its surprisingly tough hide. Although the imp shrieks in pain, the knife does not do as much damage as it seems it should.
Poterol dismounts and steps near Eli while drawing his morningstar.
Lesith dismounts and summons a shining celestial eagle, which appears behind the imp that attacked Aeryth, but fails to land a hit on the fiend.
Shyness moves to join the attack on Kiwyn's critter, but her claw attack swings recklessly wide, nearly swiping Vincent.
Eli, clearly feeling a bit woozy from the imp's poison, slips off his mule and swings his walking stick clumsily at the imp in front of him, but misses. Eli takes 2 more Dex damage, for a total of 4 so far. Roll another Fort. save at the end of your actions this next turn, Eli.
Enemy Actions:
Eli's Critter shrieks and attacks Poterol, but misses.
Aeryth's Critter shrieks and attacks Rex, but misses.
Kiwyn's Critter shrieks and attacks Vincent, its stinger not quite piercing Vincent's leather armor, as Vincent shifts aside.
The wound Vincent gave the imp, however, seems to knit itself completely back together.
Any mounts who are not currently being either ridden or held onto are now braying and trying to move away from the shrieking critters and the chaos.
Imp E faces off with Eli and Poterol, who are adjacent to each other.
Imp A is flanked by a war-horse-mounted Aeryth and by Liseth's Celestial Eagle, also by a mule-mounted Marius and Rex the Wolf.
Imp K is flanked by Vincent and by Shyness, with Kaya floating above.
None of those three imps currently seems damaged.
Natanja, Kiwyn, Chap, Azmaria, Cernan, Lesith, and Arabeth (who is still on her light horse) are free to move about the battleground, but do find it somewhat difficult to maneuver around the many moving mules.
You do not have to wait to post in order.
If you're attacking, be sure to specify whether you move and which target you're attacking, and with what.
We're calling the enemies Eli's Critter or Imp E, Aeryth's Critter or Imp A, Chap's Critter or Imp C, and Kiwyn's Critter or Imp K, based on the character each imp first attacked.
You could also choose to take a different sort of action, such as healing yourself or someone else. Just clarify if and where you move, and what exactly you do.
Also, if you have an animal companion that can attack, assume they do so on your initiative, and make any appropriate rolls.
If your character has something to say, he or she can shout a few words of warning or whatever to the group or to the critters, but remember, this second round is taking place within about six seconds, so no epic monologues, or major back-and-forth dialogue please. :)
If your character is on horse/muleback at the start of this second round, please clarify whether or not you dismount as part of your actions. It is a move action to mount or dismount, unless you make a DC 20 ride check to fast mount/dismount as a free action.
If your mount is not specifically war-trained, and if you choose not to dismount, then you need to succeed on a DC 20 ride/dexterity check to be able to both control the mount and attack. If you fail the check, all your energy that round goes to controlling the mount, and you can't make attacks.
If everyone has posted round two actions by Friday evening, then I will end the round and make the next gameplay post Friday or Saturday.
If we are able to complete two rounds a week, it will definitely speed up combat.
This is my hope.
(However, if people aren't able to post two actions a week during this combat phase, I will resume the usual one update per week schedule.)
...On the other hand, if everyone posts sooner, and if I have the time to craft the update sooner, I will. :)
Please ONLY read the following spoilers IF
your character has and takes an action to use the listed ability
or is trained in the listed skill and rolls a high enough check in a post you make here in this thread.
If you tried and failed a specific check last round, you should not try again this round.
If you succeeded at a check last round, the information is reposted here below for your convenience.
Game on! :)

Sister Azmaria |

Azmaria tries to position herself to get the best angle fro a clear shot.
As she moves she pulls a small object from her ammo pouch and begins loading the empty barrel of her pistol.
standard to reload pistol, loading with silver bullet (aka "The Gospel")
Looks like God's scripture is of no use on you, but everyone must heed the Gospel.

Elysium "Eli" Blackdun |

Intimidate: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17 To be terrifying to the imps.
Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 2 Trying for the spoiler. EDIT: NOPE.
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14 Attempting to understand their meaning.
Eli glances at the near-miss from Sister Azmaria, but then removes his mask, his face breaking into a beatific smile, beaming with joy.
"My life for all." he says, peacefully.
Eli enters Controlled Euphoria, gaining a +4 bonus to his strength score.
Stick Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23 Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
EDIT: Fortitude: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21 Yay!

Kiwyn the White |

Round 2
Perception 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
Kiwyn frowns and begins casting a spell to summon a creature to her aid, wary of any attempts on her well being.
Standard Action: Cast Spell
Spell: Summon Monster I
Casting Time: 1 round
Concentration check for Casting Defensively (DC 12) 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20

Marius Rizallo |

Rex dances around his target, teeth hardly wet with imp blood because of the creature's tough hide. Directly opposite his master, Rex takes a quick step forward and bites once again.
Rex Atk: 1d20 + 5 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 5 + 4 = 26 +4 Flanking bonus from Outflank with Rex included
Dmg: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Free Trip: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Marius, meanwhile, takes hold of his mules reins and tries to keep the beast calm. For a stubborn old bugger, it really wasn't enjoying being so close to a fiend. With all of its bucking around, he'd never hit the fiend! Regretfully, Marius tries to quickly jump down from the mule's saddle.
Ride: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
Which, of course, is not as easy as it looks. Half-stumbling down off the mule, he takes another swing at the imp with his sword.
Marius Atk: 1d20 + 3 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 3 + 4 = 27 Outflank included
Dmg: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Confirmation?: 1d20 + 3 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 3 + 4 = 22
Crit Damage?: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

Elysium "Eli" Blackdun |

Marius, your damage is actually higher. It's +2 instead of +1. That means that you deal an extra 2 damage!
