Calling upon her ancestor patrons, Naomi spread a wave of divine inspiration to her allies. Kortus hesitates, having never seen such unnatural creatures. Without directions, Whisper simply growls at the attackers, his back arched.
Round 2 (aka my evil dices strike again)
The first of the creatures continues his relentless attack on the enraged Amrunelara. This time, the elf protects her face and avoids contact with the creature's maw and its slimy tongue. Sadly, this leaves her lower body exposed to the creature's sharp talons. Amrunelara yells as her belly and one of her thigh are lacerated (two claw attacks hit for 10 points of damage total). The other creature grabs Darst off its shoulders with its strong arms. The poor goblin can't do much more then wiggle as the extensive mouth of the creature approaches his face and neck. It's unclear whatever the creature wants to suffocate or eat the goblin (no AoO here since you were in a good position for it to grab you. I would have given you +1 to attack this round for being on higher ground but, sadly, it doesn't apply anymore).

We'll die here in this small opening if we don't get some space to attack these monstrosities! Venmirl thinks to himself as he surveys the situation. After seeing Amrunelara take considerable damage and seeing what this creature's bite is capable of, he decides to push this ugly thing further into the tunnel so that his friends can join in on the attack.
Bull rush: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11 >:(

Round 2
Izbahn sees the situation deteriorating rapidly, he hadn't realized creatures like this lived so close to Sandpoint. He feels Venmirl rush past him, and engages one of the monstrocities. He decides to give Darst a chance to break free of the other creaures embrace, before he is torn apart. He casts a quick enchantment on the creature holding Darst, praying it can be affected by it...
Cast Daze on the creature grappling Darst. Will Save DC 13, SR yes.

Okay, nobody gives me a -4 Dexterity and lives to tell about it. And to think, just yesterday i was wondering why I'd bothered to invest in Escape artist!
Darst wriggles, determined to escape the creature's grasp. When (or if)he manages to break free, he falls to the ground and tumbles away.
EA (including -2 to Dex): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28
Acrobatics to move to G4: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (1) + 11 = 12

Round 2
Amrunelara feels the slicing pain crossing her gut, pain like she has never felt before, as the rage coursing through her body turns to anguish. Seeing Darst escape from the creature practically unharmed further increases her anger. I will not be outdone by a goblin!!
As Venmirl rushes to her side she continues her assault on the beast. Catching a glimpse of the shoanti warrior every now and again she just about manages to control the rage so she can adopt a more defensive stance.
Activate Combat Expertise
Attack1d20 + 8 - 2 - 1 ⇒ (13) + 8 - 2 - 1 = 18

wow sorry Amrunelara ... I would buy new d10s if I were you.
Wanting to create more space for others to join the fight, Venmirl advance on his enemy, klar first. The creature attacks him with its talon but Venmirl easily deflects them aside. He slams into the monster, wrestling with it for a moment. Despite his effort, Venmirl can't move the creature and is pushed back a few feet.
The second creature seems totally unaffected by Izbahn's spell but Darst, with his usual agility, still manages to slip out of its graps. The goblin lands off-balanced however and can't move away quick enough to avoid being attacked again. The claw swipe is slow and Darst ducks under it before tumbling further into the cave.
Regaining a bit of control, Amrunelara fights with a more defensive stance yet she can't concentrate enough to deliver her precise and deadly strikes. She wounds the creature but not badly.
Naomi and Kortus are up!

Kortus urges his companion to move forward and join the fight (DC 25 to 'push' an animal 1d20 + 4 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 + 4 = 14) but he can't convince Whisper to attack such an unnatural opponent. Sighing, the dwarf instead murmurs a prayer to Erastil, his patron, to ask for some guidance.
Naomi moves from behind Izbahn to step right behind the wounded elven warrior. She casts a simple spell on Amrunelara, returning some vitality to the endangered elf (Naomi casts Virtue and Amrunelara gains one temporary hit points).
Round 3
Smelling blood, the monster continues his fierce assault on the wounded elf. Amrunelara dodges and spins under the attacks without thinking thanks to her extensive training. Now that Darst has excaped, the second monster turns toward Venmirl. The strong warrior bats the claws aside but he can't stop the creature's gaping maw. The inquisitor yells in pain and frustration as the monster sinks its sharp teeth in his shoulder (7 points of damage, Venmirl must make a DC 12 will saved or be sickened like Amrunelara).

Darst tumbles to D5 and tries to assist Venmirl. He slashes with his razor.
Milestone: Darst's first sneak attack! :D

Izbahn curses in frustration seeing these creatures tearing his friends to pieces. He shouts a minor incantation, and a freezing ray shoots out to strike at the monster Venmirl, and Darst are teaming up on, wanting to finish one of them off quickly.
Round 3
Cast Ray of Frost at the monster, if it is already dead, then at the other one. Ranged touch attack 1d20 + 2 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (4) + 2 + 1 - 4 = 3, damage 1d3 ⇒ 2 cold, SR yes.

Venmirl's morningstar hits the creature's chest with great force and a sharp cracking sound is heard. This powerful blow would have fell most men but this aberrant monster continues fighting, apparently ignoring the pain of its broken ribs. For his part, Darst moves quickly behind the creature attacking Venmirl and slashes at the back of its legs. The monster is taken off guard and Darst is able to inflict a deep wound. Darst's victim stumbles a bit and yells out an unnatural cry. Lastly, Izbahn's cold ray only hits the ceiling.
While Venmirl isn't attacking the same one as Darst, they still flank it so the sneak attack occurs. See the updated map. Amrunelara (as well as Naomi & Kortus, maybe ?) is up.

Amrunelara brings her blade down, slashing the monster across its body. She spins around and buries her weapon all the way to the hilt into her enemy. As she pulls her bloodied blade free, the creature falls down, apparently lifeless.
Amrunelara could still take a move action if you wish.

"Come on Whisper, don't let that small lit' monster scare you!" Kortus continues to urge Whisper to attack, pointing at the monster and yelling encouragement. (He'll use is guidance bonus on the handle animal check, 1d20 + 4 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 4 + 4 + 1 = 25, success!) Perhaps shamed by his master, the agile cat makes his way through the tunnel and leap over the monster that just fell down to attack the remaining one. (Whisper bite attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10, miss) Whisper tries to bite one of the monster's long arm and pull it down. He fails to get a good grip however, leaving the enemy unharmed. Kortus once again ask for the Guidance of Erastil.
Naomi also moves forward, trying to maneuver into a position to block any escape of the creature (She double moves at half-speed and uses acrobatics to try to avoid an AoO. Acrobatics check: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14, not by much but success!).
Round 4
The remaining monster snarls at all the opponents around it but eventually settles with attacking the one who caused him the most annoyance and pain, little Darst. The goblin is agile enough to avoid most of the monster's attacks but is caught off-guard by one claw swipe that painfully rakes his upper body (5 points of damage)

Good thing Whisper moved where he did. Darst really can't stand to stay in one place for more than a round in a fight, and otherwise I wouldn't be able to flank.

Darst steps to the side and slices at the abomination's leg.
By slicing at the monster's heel, Darst forces it to go down on one knee, in pain. From there, Venmirl and Naomi bludgeon it to the floor with a pair of hits on its weird head. While obviously beaten and unconscious, the pair of horrible creatures seem still alive. Indeed, now that the hostilities have die down, the only sound heard in the tunnel is their labored breath.

Izbahn Douvurk |

Izbahn nods at Venmirl's actions, These things must be the freaks mentioned in Tsuto's journal. "Is everyone OK? Good thing we killed these things, they would have torn up the town militia to pieces."
Once everyone is OK, Izbahn continues, "We should rest here for a moment" Use reserve points. While everyone is resting, Izbahn will examine the corpses to see if he can learn anything more about them. Knowledge, Arcana 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11

As Venmirl position himself to finish off the beaten creature, he can clearly see that the wounds they inflicted are slowly healing. Cuts are slowly closing, bruises disappear and bones return to their normal position. Wasting no more time, the shoanti brings his morningstar down and completely crushes the head of one monster. He's happy to see that the healing process has stopped and that it no longer seems to be breathing. Relieved, he moves to the second creature and kills it in a similar fashion.
Izbahn examines the mangled corpses but can't fathom what these creatures might be. The best he can come up with is that such creature must either be unnatural aberrations created by the arcane energies of a mad wizard or perhaps they are from somewhere deep underground where all life is strange to those who live on the surface. Izbahn also wonders how such unusual creatures could be under a sleepy town like Sandpoint.
I assumed Venmirl would want to kill off the second one too. Correct me if I'm wrong. If you rest for a few minutes, as Izbahn suggested, you can use reserve points to regain some hit points. Note that Bless and Virtue will end. On the plus side, Amrunelara will no longer be sickened by an overwhelming anger.

Izbahn will encourage Venmirl to kill off the second one.
Izbahn kicks the mutilated corpse with a look of frustration on his face. "I have never heard of these creatures before! One thing is for sure, we need to find out where those creatures are coming from!"
Once Venmirl has finished the corpse, he says, "Hmmm, maybe someone in town has seen these kinds of creatures before."

Amrunelara Moonlance |

Amrunelara leans against the rock wall with one hand, her long delicate blade dripping with blood as she holds it limply. She breathes heavily whilst she speaks struggling to get the words out, "That was not nice..."
Amrunelara will use 5 RP's to go back up to 10hp
"These...[pant]...do not look like...[pant]...any demons I have fought before either...[pant]"

Izbahn Douvurk |

Izbahn nods at Amrunelara, "Yes, these things are certainly a mystery. One thing is for sure, Sandpoint has a sinister side to it."
Once the group has rested, Izbahn says, "Shall we continue? OK then, same marching order as before."

Oh, right. I knew that when I created Darst, but I must have forgotten. Thanks, and in that case I spend 8 points.

Once the group has rested, Izbahn says, "Shall we continue? OK then, same marching order as before."
After making sure the foul creature that was healing would never stand again, Venmirl does the same to its partner. He is quite happy to be the one who got to finish them both off for good.
After resting, he looks over to Amrunelara. "If she is feeling better then I'm ready to see what else is down here!"
He will use his RP to heal 7 hp.

The elvish warrior flicks the blood off her curve blade before sheathing it, sorry my friend, you will dance again but you are just too unweildy for these cramped passageways, replacing the larger sword with two smaller blades.

After resting for a few minutes and applying some first aid to those who needed it, the group is once again ready to continue their exploration of the tunnels.
At the back of the group, Kortus seems hesitant. "You guys go ahead. I'll stay here with Whisper and watch this tunnel. This way no rock biters will come surprise you from behind."

Do you mean the eastward one just a few feet north of where the fight took place?
