I am looking for 2-4 players to join an existing game.
The current characters are an Oracle of Life and a Wizard. Every other niche is open.
The game is Arabian/Egyptian in theme and will involve a lot of ruin-delving.
Basic information can be found here
The gameplay thread so far is pretty short. Feel free to read it to get a better idea of what the setting is like.
This will be primarily a dungeon crawl/exploration game but there will be occasional urban adventures involving street chases, roof-climbing, gathering information and that sort of thing.
I prefer to run combat loosely and quickly in a cinematic style. Maps will be used, but only as a frame of reference. Tactical battlemat rules are de-emphisized in favor of speed of play.
20 Point Buy
All races are "skinned" as various kinds of human and "fluffed" as exotic cultures. A halfling might just be a human midget. An Elf might just be a willowy person from a culture that focuses on education and martial training from a young age. (I'm asking everyone to avoid particularly exotic races, please)
Two traits. Each trait must come from a different category. I will allow custom traits, as well as slight alterations or "refluffing" of existing ones to better fit your backstory.
Average starting gold for your class
No guns
----------------------------------------------
The setting primarily uses the Egyptian pantheon. Most worshipers are polytheists who pay homage to all the gods, though some choose to devote themselves to one in particular over the others. Characters with Domains are allowed to pick whatever domain they want as long as they can explain how the domain ties into the god they follow.
Your characters will begin as accused criminals who have been offered the choice of prison or debt. You chose debt, and now are essentially indentured servants to the state who are working off your crime-debt by doing things no one else can/wants to. Please come up with the crime you were accused of and the circumstances under which you were caught. Based on your crime I will be granting you a bonus trait.
Since I took the time to write this I figure I should probably use it too.
I want the story to feel as much like a novel as possible, so strong writing skills are a must.
I post often. I want players who can keep up and help keep the game moving. Nothing kills PBP games like lack of momentum. Don't apply if you can't post once a day, minimum. (That being said, I understand real life sometimes happens. Just let us know.)
I don't want recruitment to turn into a "tavern" of roleplaying where everyone tries to get their character established and noticed. For the sake of my sanity, please keep things business oriented here.

Stratos- This is a low-magic setting, and despite the pantheon, it isn't taking place in Egypt. There actually isn't a huge river near the city. No one is really sure where the water in the Last City comes from. The common belief is that it is granted to the Pharoah's Font by the gods, and the generous Pharoah shares it with the people. Skeptics might think its actually just a large natural spring or well. The gods do work miracles, but they tend to be smaller scale gifts to the devout, much like normal pathfinder.
Stormraven- That is correct, which is why I noted that players should stick to non-exotic races. It is a lot harder to "reskin" things with tails or wings as just a distant human culture. Players can pick what their culture re-skins to and are encouraged to pick a real-world ancient culture analogue.

On reflection, a human will work well with what I have in mind. I'm working up a Rogue - human female with the archetypes Knife Master & Scout. She specializes in two weapon (dual dagger) combat. Does that sound like a good fit for your campaign? She'd be part explorer and a light melee combatant.
If you are interested in the idea... I've got a follow-up question. Should we (like your original players) detail a crime we've committed that got us collared?

Just finished reading through the gameplay thread. I like the style, and think I can fit in quite well.
I'm working on a character that ought to mesh well with the existing party — Zaid Tumaini is a compassionate survivor who grew up on the streets of Alhazad, finding friends here and there but never really "belonging". His refusal to engage in theft and other crimes excluded him from the various gangs throughout the city, and even made him a target for some of them.
Haven't finished him completely (either backstory or crunch); the basis of his backstory is above, and my thoughts for the crunch are that a spell-less ranger would fit well (both with the concept as well as with the group). He'll have the ability to find and disable traps, and do some damage in combat. I will mention that I've not played a ranger before (but guides feel like cheating), so it's rather unlikely that I'll end up with a fully-optimized character.
Thoughts/suggestions are welcome.

Edit to add: Generally I'm able to post numerous times per day, so a 1/day minimum works well for me. I'm in MST (UTC-7).

So, I love the sound of this. Ancient Egypt has always fascinated me, especially the pantheon...
I know you warned us away from exotic races, but could I play a reskinned catfolk with the Nimble Guardian monk archetype? I'm thinking I'll flavor it as a warrior from a monastery/temple devoted to the cat goddesses--mainly Bast and Sekhmet--who has since come out into the world. Obviously, I'm going to remove as many outright feline qualities from the racial standpoint as I can (e.g., no claws, probably replacing sprinter with either climbing or nimble faller, things like that).
In the meanwhile, I'll start drawing some stuff up, but knowing if this is even acceptable would be nice.

Ayaal (rogue) will have a decent Disable Device (+8), an OK Perception for trapspotting (+5), and OK Survival (+6) rolls for basic tracking. I'm building her out as a tomb robber by profession who is quite respectable with a blade. I'm just finishing her background. I'll post her for review within the hour.

Black Thom-
This game isn't really superhero themed, and while there is a city you wont be spending a lot of time in it. I'm fine with a ranger-rogue type, but I'm not sure about the theme.
Loup- I would be fine with that. The only issue is the claws. We can explain those as some kind of finger-claws worn by your order.

Here's the completed alias, with crunch and fluff all worked in the profile. I may end up changing the picture... There are a handful of posts for it already, they were from an old usage where this was the feline eidolon of a summoner. Ended up working well for this game and the character concept I had!
As for Apedemak's skills, alas, he is neither a disabler of traps (although he may well be able to point them out and/or avoid the dangers they present) nor a tracker of...er...things, but he's a capable combatant with some nice skills as well. His climb speed, along with low-light vision and good bonuses to Acrobatics, Perception, and Stealth should serve well in ruin exploration. In battle, he's a capable warrior who's going to focus mainly on defending himself and his allies from harm, be it by actively protecting them or just bringing down the enemy as quickly as possible.
EDIT: This is Loup Blanc's submission, by the by. And with those extra five point-buy points, Apedemak's getting boosts to Strength and Intelligence. Huzzah for damage and skills!

Ayaal- Background looks great. You might consider toning down the violence of her crime though. Stabbing a noble during a theft would get you more than a slap-on-the-wrist fine. You can still have done it, it just needs to be unproven. Consider something like this instead: One of your partners was nabbed and rolled over. You had an alibi for the night so you got away with it, but you were still in possession of stolen goods. You spent a few nights in prison, chose to accept the debt rather than do more time, and went out to earn more cash knowing that the law was keeping tabs on you now.
Tasedar- No kitsune please. They are just too innately magical for this setting. They might exist, but I don't want them to be PCs. Could your concept be altered to work with any other race?

Thanks, DH! Love your stuff, by the way; don't think I'd mentioned that. Your guide to PbP was really nice when I started out on here.
Quick question, also--in the Campaign Info tab, you have the languages listed. I gave Apedemak Dust-Tongue, since it's the most commonly-spoken, and Elder-Tongue, since it fits his ascetic training. In the section on Elder-Tongue, you say that to read and write it requires at least one rank in Knowledge (arcana), Knowledge (history), and Knowledge (religion); I take it this then means that Ap can't read or write the language, since he doesn't have Knowledge (arcana). (I know he can't read or write Dust-Scrawl, which is fine. Just seems like it'd make sense for him to be able to read and write something, though I love that you have requisites for literacy.)

I'd like to present Zayid Tumaini, human ranger (skirmisher/urban ranger). You did mention that we won't be spending a whole lot of time in the city, but I think the archetype fits the concept well, and it does grant Trapfinding at level 3 (a nice bonus to finding & disabling traps, as well as the ability to disable magical traps). In the meantime, he can disable mundane traps rather well, and he's also quite a nice tracker.
As he grew, Zayid learned to move silently elsewhere, as well; when he would visit the Bazaar, he found that the best way of avoiding trouble was to remain undetected altogether whenever possible. Eventually, Abasi attempted to formally introduce Zayid into his life of crime, and the boy fled. For two years already he'd done "errands" for his uncle, seeing things that shocked and reviled him but knowing no alternative. The innocents tortured and killed, or beaten into submission, left their mark on his impressionable mind, and even as he was inured to the horrors, he determined to have no part of them — someday.
The day came sooner than he expected, and at age 12 he found himself alone on the streets, without either a place to sleep or a copper to his name. His uncle declared him dead, effectively removing his protection and cutting Zayid off from any chance at his parents' legacy. (Zayid knew nothing of this, of course, being rather preoccupied in his attempts to stay alive.)
Gradually, as he learned to take odd jobs and became better able to provide food for himself, his life settled into a semblance of normalcy. More and more, what free time he had was spent on the outskirts of the Bazaar, watching the soldiers practice. Most of them never noticed his silent form observing them, but one keen-eyed charioteer did. Seeing his interest, he took the boy under his wing, teaching him how to use the bow, and the spear, and other weapons.
* GM: Not sure how familial laws work in Alhazad; my thought is that either there's a requirement for the next of kin to raise an orphaned child, or else there's a financial incentive to do so. Let me know if this doesn't work with your vision, and I can rework that bit.
The build details are here. Please let me know if you have any questions, suggestions, or comments, as well as if there's anything you'd like me to change. I've PM'd you regarding his crime.
Edit: Avatars seem to not be displaying on profile pages correctly; I do have one set for him, though.

No new applications since yesterday. I'm going to call it here.
Everyone had great submissions, and I'm anticipating at least one or two of you vanishing. That tends to happen, unfortunately.
So, I've decided to take all six of you. That gives me a party of eight. I can handle that.
So,
Ayaal,
Apedemak
Mahsati
Zayid
Zariah
and
Cahal
Please report to the discussion thread. I'll be introducing you all shortly.
