I think this recent thing (the comment by grellick) has opened up my first bond, with Retzack. I think we have worked together before, and my proposed bond is: Retzack's preening is going to get someone hurt

Her name is Quibbick, she is a goblin magic user (akin to a bard class). She is primarily sent on diplomatic missions, negotiating trade agreements and brokering cease fires with and among Grellick's competitors. She was on station to ensure that Grellick's traders would retain access even as the station began to shut off access to outsiders.

I would very much like to set some things on fire. Kindly designate targets into these categories: Will be fired if destroyed, will be sued if destroyed, and will be given a raise if spread over an area of several blocks.

Hey all. Since you're all so patient with me (and I do very much appreciate that), I've made a decision.
Rather than half-ass this break and come back today, before I feel fully ready to, I'm taking the rest of the week off.
Updates will resume in full next Monday. I promise, I'll be fully 100% again by then, and my posts will continue as normal. Just need a bit of a break week to let my brain relax and re-gather some creative inspiration.
I'll be spending the free time this week reading, mostly, and collecting ideas that I can use in characterization, plot, and setting.
Thanks for your patience everyone.
Hope I'm not making a bad first impression on you, Dexter the newcomer. Normally, I try very hard to be a diligent and consistent poster!

Hey all, just letting everyone know that I feel very refreshed and revitalized after taking a week away from the forums entirely. I've got a lot to catch up on, but I've begun working on just that, and I hope to have updated every campaign I'm part of by early afternoon. Thanks for your patience once again.

Posting to all my games: I'll be leaving for a family vacation this Wednesday, and my posting will be spotty until I get back Monday. Feel free to bot me as needed. =)
May you still be alive at the end of this!

Technically, the H&S rules only require you to "make an attack" on the target. not necessarily deal damage. you could choose to poison them, trip them, use an aggressive monster move on them, cut them off from allies, disarm them, or maim them, all of those would count as attacks, and that's a nice variety of Gm moves right there.
also, I have it on decent authority that the RAW of PbtA games is often very intentionally loose, and open to alteration for the sake of fun.

Honestly, I'm just hoping IRL clears up before the end of this encounter. I've dropped one game, but I'm trying to keep this one.
I'm just trying to find time to follow the thread and provide aid where needed.

Her control is far from complete. She still needs to move from node to node to control various subsystems, and risk exposure in doing so.
She does generally know the various available nodes (which are at the player's discretion).

If I were to prepare my ship for e-attacks like the kind that she is currently performing, I would have two layers of defense - passive, and active. The passive kind of defense would be like trap nodes, walls of code that block her progress, reactionary stuff that would trip up a hacker trying to gain control of the ship's systems.
Meanwhile, the active defenses would be like electronic white blood cells, actively seeking out invasive hacking protocols where they are detected and hunting them down.
Does this ship have anything like that?

So we have settled into a steady but not frantic posting pace. I'm happy with it, but I did want to have THAT talk.
At this point in the campaign, would you like it to begin driving home towards a conclusion, or branching out into a bigger story?
I'm happy either way. We have a huge universe built and some solid threads that can push in either direction. I can see the campaign wrapping in the next arc after this rescue arc. Or I can see it pushing much farther.
I just don't want it to get to the point for you all where posting in this game is an obligation instead of a joy.
Thoughts?

I am emphatically, vehemently, and a whole bunch against the mere idea of ending this campaign or geinning the process of conceiving to think about a conclusion of any sort.
Sorry, was that too ambiguous? =)
I love this character and am actively salivating at how some of the higher moves will play out. We still have many active plot points that we haven't even begun to investigate, The Flesh not the least of which.

I've been thinking a great deal about narrative control in dungeon world. I enjoy giving as much narrative control to the PCs as possible. On an unrelated note, I find my greatest difficulty as a DW GM is the defy danger 7-9 result. In an effort to kill two birds with one stone, I've been playing around with a re-write of Defy Danger. What do you think of this? Is it madness? Would you be willing to playtest it for a bit in our game?
I added the XP incentive to drive the players towards upping the ante. Another bonus for PbP, is that we've all seen that a player can in theory continue narrating a scene until they hit a 6- generally, or a 7-9 on a defy danger (alternatively, a player will get a 7-9, continuing the narration and it becomes difficult to retcon). If the player has control over 7-9, then a post doesn't really NEED to end until a 6- is rolled.
When you act despite an imminent threat or suffer a calamity, say how you deal with it and roll. If you do it
by powering through, +Str
by getting out of the way or acting fast, +Dex
by enduring, +Con
with quick thinking, +Int
through mental fortitude, +Wis
using charm and social grace, +Cha
✴On a 7+, you do what you set out to and the specific threat doesn’t come to bear.
✴On a 7–9, describe how the situation worsens for your character, the party, or the world. If the GM is impressed by your creative masochism, mark XP.
