Ok, I'll create the ex-ruling elite of Cinnar as soon as I can. What happened to Earth in all of this?

[Sheets] [Map]

Oo oo can we leave it to chance?
Possibilities:
A hubworld and neutral ground
A barren wasteland
Totally destroyed
Lost after an exodus
Won't exist for a long time
A nature presurve
A constant religious battleground
Disappeared long ago

Any other ideas?

Random chance on what happened to Earth is fine with me.

Also for those who have not yet built characters, the Class Warfare supplement lets you build some pretty unique and varied classes. I'd recommend it.

Anyone that would like to RP in the game thread while we get a sense of who your group is and what you are doing is welcome. You are on your ship on a mission of some sort for one of the factions. Your ship is currently in riftspace (working title) traveling unbelievably fast outside of normal space. Sona has already started so feel free to tell us about how you spend these moments of relative quiet.

That said. Who are you? Traders? Mercenaries? Freedom fighters? Oppressors? Archeologists? Performers? Fugitives? Pirates? Soldiers? Diplomats? A bit of all or some? Doctors? Spies?

Honestly Sona is giving me a serious Dark Matter (TV show) vibe so far.

My (ex)-faction: A Polite Group of Like-Minded Individuals

The name is ridiculous, but APGLMI has stuck over the centuries. It’s gone through multiple names and faces, but in essence, they run planet Cinnar and the system as a whole. They ran planet Cinnar. The combined wealth of their members is, that is, was, a significant portion of the entire value of the system itself. They ran governments, terrorist organisations, big business, the media, the unions, more or less everything. They let some things slide to maintain the façade, but stopped anything from really impacting on the livelihood of the majority. Lining their pockets on the way, of course. Each was first among equals, like-minded partners who sought to push Cinnar on it’s way to prosperity, with each member having a particular facet of the system they controlled. Rejuvenation pushing their lifespans into the hundreds of years, a network of contacts, and a large flow of ready cash kept everything ticking along under their control. Benevolent, of course.

It fell apart when one became disillusioned with the scheme and revealed their presence to the general public. They believed that the people of Cinnar had matured enough under their care to choose their own destiny.

They were the first against the wall. No one remembers their name, as the final revenge of the remaining members was to wipe them from the records of every society in their reach.

Of course, the Kvothan Protectorate tells the story differently. Who knows what actually happened in the brutal war of independence. Either way, APGLMI lost. It’s yet to be determined if the Kvothan Protectorate won.

Yeah. "Traders". Completely legitimate. No shady business at all.

None. Zero. Nada. Nil.

...We'll accept cash.

Traders sounds good to me. I fell in with this group out of fascination for all the alien tech they had gathered in one place. The fact that they looked like they had seen some action helped my decision.

This is Mooshy's elven child prodigy character, Jamee Lestrade. He's a boy, despite his somewhat girlish looks, and very defensive about it. The dome you see over his head is the VR helmet that allows him 360-degree vision around his ranger-bot.

During moments of quiet, Jamee would be using Blast-O-Tron to explore the ship while staying within the safety and privacy of his room. Jamee is agoraphobic, rarely wishing to leave the confines of his own personal space, but his ranger-bot helps him to overcome that. When he speaks through the robot, he uses a voice modulator to make it sound deeper and (he thinks) more imposing. Still, genius though he is, he's still a kid, and it comes through in the way he talks sometimes.

Male Ogre Ogre | Lvl 4 | XP: 0/10 | HP: 26/26 | Armor 3 | d10 dam | STR 3 | DEX 0 | CON 2 | INT -1 | WIS 0 | CHA 1 | C: 0

Bone'ead would probabbly be confused by the idea that Blast-O-Bot is controlled by Jamee. He'll probabbly think "Blasto" is just another "Tin-man" who can walk and talk just like BunkR. Complex ideas like "VR" and "Remote control" are beyond his simple mind!

Also, Bone'ead will have nicknames for all of you, so it's easier for him to remember.

BunR = "Tooo-Brrrrr"
Sona = "Sona/Lil 'un"
Blast-O-Tron = "Blasto"
Ilztzaer = "Spidy"
Jamee = "Jamee/ Other Lil 'un"

I'll come up with more as needed :P

So, here be some background on The Space Ogre Species, and Home Planet. Sorry if it's an eyeful, I had alot of time on my hands waiting for Fallout <.<

Space Ogre Homeworld - IP19114 "The Great Green" by indigious population.

Orbital Radius- 1.5 AU

Temperature - low 77 degress fahrenheit high 110

Population - 50,000 - 100,000 Ogres (est) Unknown number of T.E.R.R.A Employees/Miners.

Gravity - 0.7 G

Description:
- IP19114 is is a dangerous planet, classified as a "Death World", with an equitorial jungle covering 50% of the planets landmass, with the rest being covered in more traditional forests and occasional mountain ranges. The world has 2 large oceans seperating the 2 main landmasses, however, the landmasses are crisscrossed with rivers of various sizes. While seeming to be a calm blue and emerald orb from orbit, it was soon discovered upon landing that almost the entire ecosystem is hostile to all foreign life. All of the animals and plants of IP19114 are deadly predators who have evolved potent biological attack and defense mechanisms against other lifeforms. Every known plant species is toxic, making foraging for native food impossible for non Ogres. Some plants secrete pollen into the air which is poisonous and destroys air-filters. Others secrete sticky liquid to capture passing animals and slowly dissolve them, much like giant Venus Fly-Traps. Other plants poison the ground and turn the immediate area around them into boggy wasteland to trap invaders. The native animals are as deadly as the plant life. For instance, the massive insectoid predator called the Swamp Roach possesses jaws as big as a tank and is a major threat to population centres on the world. The Rhinox of the mountainous regions are also a great danger to settlement.

Native Inhabitants:
- The native species of IP19114, named "Ogres", seemed to be unaffected by the harsh ecosystem of the planet, easily walking through poisonous gasses without care. Though Ogres commonly do fall prey to the other native predators of the planet, thus keeping the total population of Ogres quite small planet wide, those who survive end up growing into quite impressive and dangerous examples of their species. While roughly humanoid in apperance, Ogre's are vastly diffrent from a physiological standpoint. The lower gravity of IP19114 has lead to Ogres standing taller then your average human, with smaller individuals standing around 7 feet, while "Alpha" Ogres can reach up to 13 feet in height.

Intellectually, most would consider Ogres little more then dumb brutes. They tend to be confused easily, and Ogre speech is limited for the most part to grunts and acts of casual violence upon eachother. However, Psychologist's theorize that Ogre have evolved to focus more on survival then anything else, due to the harsh and dangerous nature of their world. For protections, Ogres tend to gather into small tribes of no more then 20 individuals, with an "Alpha" Ogre at it's head. Day to day life of the average Ogre is spent feeding their progidous appetites, with your average Ogre easily being able to devour their body weight in food per day. This desire to eat manifests itself culturally as well, with "Cooks" being quite respected members of Ogre clans, and grand feasts are held without rhyme or reason. Ogres are entirely sexless individuals, who reproduce via a strange process known as "Budding". A large growth or "Bud" Grows out of the skin and drops onto the ground, where it is usually ignored by the "parent" Ogre. If the bud is not devoured by local wildlife, or by another Ogre, the Bud will eventually grow into a fully developed Ogre after a period of 7 weeks.

Physiologically, Ogres present a fascinating and curious biology that continues to astound and confuse Biologists. Genetically, Ogres seems to be a a hybrid mixture of mammalian and fungal DNA. Strangely, both sets of DNA seems to compliment eachother, forming a tough and resilient species. An example of this is found when comparing an Ogre to a human. It appears that the fungus allows the Ogre's body to negate the use of complex internal organs, the immune system and the reproductive anatomy. The fungus therefore allows the Ogre to reduce the number of potentially fatal injuries possible, further improving their survivability. The Ogre's animal side however suggests a primitive pack-based omnivorous growth pattern; the Ogres relying on each other to hunt for food etc, in order to feed their enormous appetites. Ogre's digestive system is highly efficient, with an unusually powerful stomach acid that seems to grow stronger with age, and an ability to convert digested meat into energy that is then used to heal the Ogre of whatever wounds it may have gathered, thus furthering the species ability to survive on it's harsh planet. Waste is desposed excreted via skin pores, leading Ogres to develop the stench follows them. It is The most interesting feature however, is the lack of any sign for any evolution or evolutionary process. This indicates that the Ogres may have been created, or grown, as a result of highly advanced biological engineering, or magical enhancment.

Points of interest:
- A number of Pyramid like structures dot the deeper equitorial jungles. Attempts to question Ogre natives have lead to more questions then answers. The most common response from B.O.N.E enhanced Ogres when asked about said structures is "Big huts belong to Old 'uns. No go there". Attempts to explore said structures have all met with failure as a result of the native flora and fauna seeming to grow agitated and attack anything that lands near the pyramids, in addition to Ogre tribes appearing out of the Jungles to attack anything that gets too close. Vid-captures also show what appears to be magical defences protecting the structures as well.

The Ogre natives also seem to worship a semi-sentient worm like creature whom they identify as "The Great Maw". Whole Ogres do not allow outsiders near the creature, aerial observation has shown the creature to be a enormous circular crater the size of an inland sea filled with ridge upon ridge of jagged teeth and rippling, convulsing muscles that stretched down and down into nothingness; a gullet so huge it could swallow a battleship whole, with lashing tentacles of various sizing wriggling out and attempting to snatch and devour any creature that comes forth. The "Maw" seems to exhale a toxic fume that, due to Ogres unique Physiology, bothers them none in the least. Ogres travel from far and wide to pay homage to this Great Maw, bellowing what can be assumed to be prayers. Occasionally, the Great Maw will grab an Ogre with one of it's tentacles and and drag the Ogre down to be devoured. Ogres seem to be ambivalent to the fare of those those devoured by the Maw. Ogres also claim the Maw is able to "Head-speak" into those Ogre near it, in order to answer prayers or express it's will.

Factional Involvment:
- T.E.R.R.A discovered that the mountain regions of the planet held abundant stores of Rodemion Ore, which it eagerly wanted to get it's hands on. Despite the difficulty the planet presented due to the dangers of the native flora/fauna, the mountain regions actually proved to be about the safest places on the planet, and a number of mining settlements have been established on the various mountain ranges scattered on the planet. In addition, costs were offset further when T.E.R.R.A found that the Native Ogres made for durable and loyal workers, if given enormous amounts of food to sate their appetites and simple instructions. At first communication between the various tribes and T.E.R.R.A proved almost impossible, until close observation showed that amoung the dim-witted Ogre species there exist certain rare individuals who, despite their primitive mind-set, exhibit a rare glimmer of intelligence, problem solving capabilities, memory, or natural drive. Such individuals quickly stood out among their bretheren, making them ideal candidates for Biochemical Ogre Neural Enhancement (B.O.N.E). Recipients of such procedures generally refer to themselves as Bone'ead/Tribal name, and possess enhanced cognitive capabilities well beyond those of an unaltered specimen. In addition to being able to communicate in a manner that is at least understandable to most, many are able to remember thieir own names, count some of their fingers, or even make tactical decisions beyond hitting things -- capabilities that quickly mark them as eligible for positions of limited authority. These more intelligent Ogres were lured in with promises of enormous amounts of food. Once the procedure was complete, communication was found to be much easier, and T.E.R.R.A found the Ogres to be naive and loyal workers, as long as food was readily given. In addition to the Ogre workforce, Slaves of various races are also brought in to work the mines, these slaves also providing a ready food source when they inevitably die due to the many dangers of either the planet itself, mining, or working in such close proximity to the large Ogres. In addition to Mining, The planet also exports a wide variety of it's poisonus flora to various scientific institudes, and other less legal organizations Ogres simply lumber off into the swamp in groups of 10 and harvest as much as they can, immune to the effects of the Toxins.

The Association of Silence scientists were the first to suggest that Ogres were a created race, and eagerly wish to get ahold of Ogre's in order to conduct further experiments/vivisections. It is their belief that such research may hold further clues in their search for the illusive Merlinial Bozon. However, due to Ogres unique Physiology, This has proven difficult, as after death Ogres putrify rapidy, with the corpse becoming nothing more then a pile of green sludge in a matter of hours. Luring an Orgre off planet with food is also difficult, as the race as a whole seems to suffer claustrophobia, and do not willingly enter confined spaces, and tend to only endure for a small perios of time. (SEE: Subject BONE'EAD ROTGUT for further details) The Silence also desires to enter the Pyramid structures scattered throughout the planet. They Theorize that these "Old 'Uns" The Ogres speak of may actually be a creator race, and that entering the structures may reveal knowledge that would grant them great power, for surley a species that is able to create a race as biologically complex as the Ogres would be familiar with the Merlinial Bozon. However, with the Ogre Tribes ties with T.E.R.R.A, they do not wish to reveal to that there may be more to the planet then Ores and Minerals., and the difficulty of getting past the Flora/Fauna of the planet itself, in addition the defences the Pyramids themselves present, no overt attempts have been attempted, and more sublte attempts have failed miserably. T.E.R.R.A itself has displayed no more the a cursory interest of the pyramids, as they know that attempts to disturb them seem to send the Ogres into a rumbling rage that no amount of Food can satisfy, and would rather keep their loyal, if dumb workforce as happy and productive as possible.

Im going to be going over the recruitment thread later, but thought id pop in with my initial idea for what I want to play, make sure im not stepping on toes.

My first thought was a scientist and/or doctor, probably a boring old human late thirties to mid forties, with an addiction problem. Im thinking simply alcohol, both for potential humor and so as to not make it an overly bothersome trait (You can still fight while drunk. Drugged up, probably not so much)

He will have a bit of an apathetic world view, though he values the companionship of his crewmates highly (Even if he rarely admits it) Im thinking it would be fun to play him as a rough and tumble warrior, who likes to get into melee when he has the option, and probably augments himself with drugs (non-addictive). He is a doctor with all the sworn oaths that come with it, but tends to see it as far more effective to remove the harmful elements instead of waiting around to heal the damage they inflict.

He was probably a bit gentler and more optimistic in his early life. Right now im thinking he is the classic war vet who has seen some stuff and thats why he drinks.

This is all a bit vague, but thought id get it out there now so anyone who has a similar character already can tell me as much.

Cheers.

EDIT: Btw those ogres look ripe for a storyline about some organization weaponising them. 7 weeks for full grown 7 foot tall "super soldier"? Jackpot!

I think we are about ready to start in earnest. However, I have a series of questions that need answering:

@Jamee - What is the name of your ship?
@Rotgut - What type of cargo are you carrying? Does it belong to a particular faction, or is this your own cargo?
@Sona - What other faction would be interested in your cargo?
@2BR - What was your last port of call? What is your destination?

I believe you currently have an upgraded Merchant Ship:

MERCHANT SHIP Fast, Voracious Engines
Laser Cannon (1d8 damage) Near, Far
Torpedo Launcher (best 2d8, Near
12 HP, 1 Armor

As long as commerce between worlds exists there will be
merchants, and merchants who buy and sell amongst the worlds
require ships to travel. A merchant ship is primarily devoted to its
storage capacity.

-- Jump Drive
-- Sensor Array
-- Tractor Beam
-- Military Engineering (12 HP)

-- Laser Cannons
