Yeah, flat-footed is confusing and difficult to accomplish a lot. Blinded and Entangled can both be pulled off with a Dirty Trick maneuver, though, so there's a fair chance that'll crop up, especially if someone works with you to do it.
Derrick's in leather, although it's lamellar and does more to protect him than flaunt his appearance, so you'll have to catch him at the right time to see much ;)
As for getting along, Derrick's pretty passive, so he'll most likely do fine with everybody. Minerva's more... illicit activities may grate on him, and he'll take a while to get used to Ritmush, but he's a loyal ally above all else. I'm sure we'll do fine.

Ritmush Noscale |

Lies, your sword saint just knows that his blade would get jealous if it had to reflect your visage in leather. It would be unable to resist a closer look and suddenly you would have a sword in your liver.
what with the Sword saints intimidate powers you could be a fairly nasty debuffer with a cruel enhancement on your weapon.
Intimidate+ sickened are some nasty modifiers.
and yes Flatfooted is dumb and it frustrates me that my fun little sorcerer ability is rendered next to useless in an actual combat by that rules quirk.
I mean I suppose I could use Feint on someone, but that seems suicidal for a sorcerer to get into melee.
I imagine Ritmush will eventually worm his way into everyones mind. Like a puppydog, or a really nasty tapeworm.

Thikka |

If Thikka and Minerva meet, I think they'd get along :)
(Probably bug you about getting some delicious poisons and lock-melting acids for her roguing/alchemical paints for her art)We both look odd to society, and have skills that might be frowned upon.
Yes, although asking her to make poisons (that kill, those that weaken are ok) is probably contraindicated. She is NG. Acid is fine.
I think she'd look very sexy in leather.
Of course she is, but only another Ratfolk would realize it.
nd yes Flatfooted is dumb and it frustrates me that my fun little sorcerer ability is rendered next to useless in an actual combat by that rules quirk.
This is what vanish, invisibility and grater invisibility is for. All three let you get the enemy flat footed. Do note, that someone can be in combat and still be flat footed, but only to you. In other words, if you're invisible, they are flat footed against you.

Yeah, I'm thinking about grabbing a couple feats to take that route when I get the chance. Intimidating Prowess is necessary if I want to use Intimidate effectively, and Cornugon Smash (assuming it's allowed) would be useful for getting the free demoralize whenever I hit somebody.
By the way, does anyone know if fear conditions stack to get worse? I recall that they do, but a brief search before sleep didn't give me a yes or no. (What I mean is, if you hit a shaken enemy with an effect that would make them shaken, do they become frightened instead?)

Unbolath |

Have the new players been formally introduced to the storyline yet? I am trying to determine exactly where I and others may be based on the gameplay dialogue. Are we in a slight holding pattern as those details are ironed out?

Ritmush Noscale |

Hrmm... I suppose invisibility and stealth are going to be the big options.
@Thikka would that mean that a blinded target is flatfooted, not being able to see me and not being able to See me seems a very annoying distinction to make.
@Derrik- Intimidate is specifically spelled out to never stack upwards with its shaken ability. Though there is a rogue archetype that gives you that as an ability.
Thug
you might consider it if you like the concept of frightening people. though actually getting that off is Really difficult.
@Unbolath- I think our GM is waiting on something, though I'm not sure what. Likely one of the players hasn't chimed in yet. considering a "2/3rds have responded or more" rule could likely help speed that.

Thikka |

My understanding is that without the blind fighting feat, a blind opponent is flat footed against everyone.

Terquem |
So far, Thikka has been introduced to an NPC of Fort Horizon
It is Day 4, of this campaign, and the existing Player Characters have just been informed of a request of the Major to act as escort and guard to a wagon load of supplies that will be delivered to an outlying settlement (in a place called Mystic Valley)
Thikka has spoken to Melana, and I will post a short reply. Then place everyone else (so you will know where you are in Fort Horizon). Everyone is in Fort Horizon, other than Ritmush
Can everyone see the map of Fort Horizon?
On the morning of the 5th day of this campaign, the wagon will leave for Mystic Valley. Those Player Characters that stay behind will probably be offered an opportunity to return to the caves with Jeannine and Karl (but they will probably not want to leave until Day 6 or7)
I am working on a list of NPCs, so bare with me for a little while

Thikka |

You open the door and find before you..
... a large white gazebo, what do you do?

Minerva Malifect |

Halfway hoping one of the lawful among you catch Minerva stealing something.
SHould be an interesting interaction. And a dramatic way for her quarter-fiend blood (horns tail & teeth) to be revealed.
(Possibly going to be robbing this 'fine clothed gent' in the tailors, if I can get this farmer man out of the way.)

Terquem |
Happy Father's Day to all the Dads playing in these games!
For my Father's Day, I received the Campaign Cartographer 3 bundle pack (with City and Dungeon builder)
I'm a long time AutoCad user, so I hope the learning curve isn't steep
Soon, I hope, you will all see better maps
I hope all the player's willing to put up with me are having fun in these games.

Gavmania |

Se..that's why I don't have kids.....they are always interrupting. Just kidding man....have a great St. Pappy's day (as I call it since I'm Irish!!
Lol, they don't interrupt when they're at school, and they don't interrupt much when they've gone to bed. And when they grow up, they can join you in your games! (or even before that for some games).

Derrick Tramsen |

I hope all the player's willing to put up with me are having fun in these games.
Hey, I know I am. Maps will be cool to see, but I've been fine so far. It's a fun and ambitious game, and I hope to see it through to the end (whatever that may be).

Valind |

@Terquem: just checking I haven't screwed this up. 1 gold piece of starting money = 10 dollars, right?
A silver dollar system?
So the pemican bars are 5sp, and we got 7.5gp for the journey to the mines?
I'm all good with it but the salt comment made me reconsult my finnces.

Ritmush Noscale |

Huh, so with a silver economy that means Ritmush has 2000 dollars worth of stuff. Is that a great deal of money in this setting? Hrmm... I'm gonna say he found most of it on a dead guy in the forest. Ritmush would likely be in the same situation if not for his sorcerer power to make bundles of flaming explosion traps. I figure the local wildlife learns jumping the little human is fraught with peril even if he is terrible at catching food.
Oh and peanut gallery for the current conversations.
Not to worry, Dream ensures that dreamers having particularly interesting shows forget them when they wake.
---------
*munch* wow, this stuffs good, didn' figure burnin' corn'd make it better but here we are. This has ta be the weirdest dream I ever had, well except for that time when Baba gnarlish wasn't lookin' an' I took some ah her potions.
I didn't even realize spiders could be so graceful til they started tapdancin' though, still wonder what a waltz is.
Wow, that sure is one grumpy rat person. Bet she's hungry, hrmm... *rustle* -clank- *popwhizz* nope, no cheese. Oh! but I got some bacon that i'll solve grumpy! Everyone loves bacon, even rat persons, least I hope a rat person likes bacon else it'b be like. "-A universal constant has been upended and used as a card table in my presence-" or somethin', if it didn't. Jus' with lessa me sneezing and knockin' over that smokey bearded guys house.
Hrmm... can I even feed somethin' in a dream? Can I feed myself? or am I just dreaming i'm not hungry?
That short guy shes talkin' at sure makes funny faces, no idea what they are saying but it sounds like too many words fer' me ta want anything to do with. Oh, that face right there looks just like a surprised badger! Too bad the rat person is, well a rat person. I bet she'd make some really funny faces while having a -"civilized conversation"- jus' like the smokey beardy guy an' the guy tha' had bat poop in his pockets talkin' about levers turnin' the world.
Wow, look its the horney lady, oh and that guy! I like that guys hat, hes all -sucks in chest and fails at sounding adult- official and fancy. I bet he eats bacon all the time, wish I had his job.
Lossa different people in this place, I hope I see it one day.
Huh, when I wake up from this I should go to town and see if that butcher guy has any more bacon fer sale. Wolves smell really bad on fire and they don't taste much better, maybe he'll have forgotten last time and leave the back door open again?

Terquem |
Yes I am here, sorry for the absence. The message I posted up there that talked about my out of town trip ended up being emotionally draining. I am not well from the whole thing. But I am going to try and update the game today.
Sorry you had to go Gavmania, good luck wherever you roam
Minerva, is now following an NPC, dressed in expensive clothing, who is headed toward a small cabin in the center of the fort
Interesting stuff, Ritmush. I promise to try to get you into the active game as fast as I can

Ritmush Noscale |

*chuckle* I'm in no hurry, but I am well aware that the biggest thing you can do for a PbP is post something, so people can respond. if there is something new posted folks will look at the page and perhaps consider posting themselves.
Well that and I wanted Ritmush to comment on stuff because that bit between the halfling and the ratfolk was great. Just want to let you two know I enjoyed reading that.
As to updating, sorry to hear about the difficulties. I wish you well and hope that life gets better soon.

Unbolath |

No worries! Somehow I missed the message above, but managed to see a message by you in another thread, but a good thing came of it, because I saw another pbp oppurtunity with your goblin campaign.

Unbolath |

Also, I myself will be camping from saturday jun 28 through thursday jul 3, with questionable reception, and its on an island, so if I dont get a signal, I wont be online those few days.

Thikka |

Thikka does, although I'd keep it quiet how you came across it. :)
