I think there is confusion(caused by me) about the monetary system here
Mostly, when creating characters, things are normal (standard PRD values for goods)
Then you get to Fort Horizon, where everyone talks in "dollars" and the prices are wacky
A Dollar is a silver piece
A Ten Dollar gold piece, is a gold piece (there are not a lot of these around in circulation)
Prices, from the WEAC are fixed, and rarely change
Prices from local merchants change with regularity
Any questions?

Ritmush Noscale |

@Minerva: that would make for some interesting family reunions.
@Thikka: I see Ratfolk, Skaven and Nezumi*, apparently your family lives in the walls of the Tardis.
* The Nezumi bonereader if my memory of that set is right, loved me the flavor of Kamigawa. Soulshift was a fun ability at the time.
@Terquem
Would that mean that base materials purchased from local merchants for crafting some items are significantly lower than others? EX: if a battlestaff works out to 10gp would that mean I could craft one for that price or will the players be restricted by core rules (ex: materwork= 300gp) as to what prices we can make stuff at?

Terquem |
Prices from local merchants change with regularity.
Also, finding raw materials, here, of the kind necessary to fabricate masterwork tools, weapons, items, is difficult at best
Now, if you are a merchant who Makes a Masterwork Item, and there just isn't anyone interested in buying it for a long time, you might find yourself letting it go for a loss

WHile we wait, anyone want to make a maid?
I'll be posting an interest for a Maid rpg game on another roleplaying site (Rpg.net) and it might be fun to make some maids/butlers to serve as NPC/DMPCs
If you want to give it a go, start off by rolling 2d6 for your maid types and 2d6 divided by three for each of your 6 stats :)

Minerva Malifect |

Here's one I made in a few minutes :)
[Name]
Female Maid
Pure/Heroine: [Aff+1-Cunn-1/Will+1-Luck-1]
Abilities-
Athletics:0
Affection:3
Skill:2
Cunning:3
Luck:1
Will:3
Special Quality - Membership [Government official]
Colorscheme - Pink [Red/White]
Next I roll 2d6 for my color and 1d66 twice for two special qualities
(You can have as many as 6 of those at the GM's Approval.
Color: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 1) = 5
Special Quality: 2d6 ⇒ (6, 2) = 8
Special Quality2: 2d6 ⇒ (6, 4) = 10
Looks Like I got a 4 (red) and 1 (white), which are added together to make Pink. Making pink the primary color in my maid's color scheme
For my Sp. Qualitie I got 62 (Membership*) Which means I have to roll on the chart, and 64 (Monster*) which is another chart
Membership chart: 1d6 ⇒ 2
6 (Government official) Which tells me that my maid, in addition to being a maid, is also secretly (or not) part of the government, my maid could be a government nurse, or a detective going undercover, or a secretary on hire.
To be continued, when I'll add on my Powers, stress explosion and etcetera (and roll for my second Special quality

Minerva Malifect |

For my second special quality [64 - Monster*] I rolled a 3 on the chart, making my maid a Werewolf. :D
So, to review, thus far -
[Name]
Female Maid
Pure/Heroine: [Aff+1-Cunn-1/Will+1-Luck-1]
Abilities-
Athletics:0
Affection:3
Skill:2
Cunning:3
Luck:1
Will:3
Special Quality -
Membership [Government official]
Monster [Werewolf]
Maid Power -
Coercion: If you win a roll of Cunning Vs. Athletics, you can completely damage or tear off someone’s clothes, even “accidentally”.
Color-Scheme - Pink [Red/White]
Next up, her maid power. to do this I simply roll 1d6. then I check the result against the chart for her highest attribute.
If her attributes as a whole totaled equal to or less than 9, my maid would receive two powers.
Maid Power: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Since my maids highest attributes are tied between 3; Cunning, affection and will, I get to choose. For simplicity/hilarity's sake I choose the cunning power: Coercion.
Next up, my maid's roots and her Stress explosion. Her roots are where my maid comes from, and her stress explosion is the activity she takes part in whenever the stress(the maid rpg's damage system) of maid life overcomes her spirit (a maid's 'health') For both I roll 1d66.
Maid Roots: 2d6 ⇒ (6, 2) = 8
Stress Explosion: 2d6 ⇒ (5, 3) = 8
62(Distant Relative) on the maid roots means that my maid is distantly related to the master of the house.
Her stress explosion is 53 (sleeping), which is a little boring, but being a werewolf makes up for it.
The final numbers are Spirit and Favor. Favor determines how well my maid is thought of by the master of the manse, and spirit (hp in simpler terms) determines how far she is from a stress explosion.
Favor is Affection times two. So 6
Spirit is Will times ten. So 30
lastly, you note down the name and age of your maid. After that, you simply add on details as fitting the framework the dice have determined.
Samantha Ovaltine
Female Maid - 24 yrs old
Pure/Heroine: [Aff+1-Cunn-1/Will+1-Luck-1]
Spirit:30
Favor :6
Abilities-
Athletics:0
Affection:3
Skill:2
Cunning:3
Luck:1
Will:3
Special Quality -
Membership [Government official]
Monster [Werewolf]
Maid Power -
Coercion: If you win a roll of Cunning Vs. Athletics, you can completely damage or tear off someone’s clothes, even “accidentally”.
Color-Scheme - Pink [Red/White]

Well, you not not to be a wet blanket or anything, but you might want to create your own thread here to do this sort of thing instead of doing it here.
I know there is a delay, but everything should start ,moving again tomorrow.
There will be a very brief exchange with Valind, Sithundan, and Portia, who have walked in silence to a small farm outside of the fort, then we will move to tomorrow morning and get the wagon started toward Mystic Valley

Ritmush Noscale |

hopefully the site avoids imploding for a little while this time. always annoying when it does that.
As to the picnic, perhaps you can find a nice lake or some other natural feature to sit down and take a meal at on the journey. I can only imagine that a place called "Mystic valley" would have some lovely places to go.

Terquem |
I was just about to put Portia, Valind and Sithundan at their destination, but we can let the three of you take one more day, and talk about anything on your mind
Everyone else will be on hold, just for a bit.
I want to bring those three back, soon, then set all those going to Mystic Valley on the trail.

Unbolath |

Is there an inn or boarding house where Unbolath would spend the night? It's not terribly urgent, but in terms of realism/housekeeping he should be somewhere, unless they allow camping in the woods outside of the fort.

Terquem |
If you can see the map of Fort Horizon
28 is the Shady Dragon Inn, there are rooms available for the night here, they are small rooms, and not very comfortable. The Inn is managed by Emmitio and Delouse Maliozz, a young Elven couple
From the game thread, earlier
Emmitio and Delouse Maliozz are here. They are a young Elven couple. He is handsome and thin. He wears no shirt, and his lower body is wrapped in a long, bright red, skirt painted with strange tropical trees. He has green skin, as do all elves, and long straight brown hair. His wife is as attractive as he is handsome, but she is heavier than he is, even a bit on the plump side for an Elf. She wears a similar skirt, but she is not topless and instead wears a blousy yellow shirt made from light cotton and a woolen bodice. Her hair is golden bronze colored and very long, coming down to her waist.
Although no one was initially curios about this couple, I can go ahead and say now that they are not using their real, original, names, and have adopted new names that sound like the common names of the Aeromnians (Halflings) they are trying to fit in with
There are also Cabins (area 11, a thru e). Cabin 11 is the home of the Elven couple and a thru e are available for rent, as Emmitio explained earlier
He stands straight and addresses the group, “We’ve got four rooms upstairs, they are small, just big enough for a bed, no room to store things at all, and I rent them for a dollar twenty five per night. The cabins, well, I’ve got three of them that I can rent today, and a forth that I could rent as soon as the door is repaired. The cabins rent for three dollars a night, or ten dollars a week. They can be rented by the month, but you’ll have to see Mister Finster. Each of the small cabins can sleep four people comfortably, each has a nice pot belly stove and a pair of large chests that can be locked tight, if you happen to have a lock, and I recommend you get one. Now, let’s see there are some larger cabins, regular homes actually, but you want to see Mister Finster or the Captain about renting those.”
The larger houses for rent are 27, a thru c

Summer time can be a busy time for a lot of reasons. This weekend I am running to Salt Lake City to pick up my daughter who is returning from Nepal, so I'll be away for a couple of days. I'll try to post if anything important comes up like a question about the game or an important Character action

Ritmush Noscale |

Well something has to keep the wheels rolling, wood pulp or gold just won't do.
Plus if you want to trap a human all you have to do is bait a box with a slab of the stuff. Works on everything else too, but you need a slightly better trap than a box.

mdt |

Posting this in all my games.
I'll be travelling this week, Monday through Wednesday, and I likely won't be able to post as much as I usually do. I should be back to normal posting by the end of the week.

Terquem |
I want to thank everyone for checking in, looks like we have
Rolandor
Thikka
Derrick
Droka
Sithundan
Valind
Minerva
And
Portia
Ready to set out on this adventure
I will be doing the family theme park thing this weekend, so my posting will be sporadic.
We will begin in earnest on Monday with a major encounter, for that I will need everyone (talk among yourselves in the discussion thread if you need to) but I will need everyone to be sure they know where they are located in relationship to the wagon. The elves will walk directly behind the wagon, near the cows. There is only one room for a driver of the wagon, so someone has to sit there to drive the bull. The wagon moves at about 1 to 1.5 miles per hour.

Portia Morgan |

I will take point at the front, "passively" being on the lookout for any trouble whether animal or other b(essentially taking 10=13). Also taking 10 on survival = 25. My bow will be drawn, with Issabelle circling overhead for any signs of trouble as well, 10=12
note to self, give Issabelle ranks in perception *facepalm*

Ritmush Noscale |

I should mention I'm still here. I was unsure if you had wanted me to post or not.
Having Ritmush muttering about Bacon in the middle of the groups introductions seemed counter to the current thrust of things.
and yes to Ritmush Bacon requires capitalization for its glory.

Thikka |

Thikka would be in the middle, likely walking next to the wagon. She isn't a wagon driver. If she walks too slowly, she'll offer to ride on the wagon, if there's room, but only if she's slowing the caravan.

Derrick Tramsen |

Derrick will alternate positions, sometimes toward the front, sometimes working rear guard. He doesn't much care, and will probably stick near anybody he happens to be talking with.

Ritmush Noscale |

Hrmmm... guess this means I actually do need to figure out what Ritmush has for an inventory.
Now to figure out what would fit best for him to have picked off dead things in a forest or traded for from the town.
