Dolvin steps up next to Celaphe out stretches his hand to touch the woman gently on the shoulder. "May Desna be your guide," and with that casts bit of luck.

Celaphe anytime you roll a d20 next round roll 2 and take the better result.

Also this is where the question of initiative order comes in. Technically Celaphe acts before me in order so my bit of luck wouldn't effect her this round but I think I can make a case for me acting before her because I charged in and took the doom will save. Whatever the GM thinks is fair I just wanted to stay honest in the eyes of Desna.

Rashid stows his sling and picks up his rapier. "Whew - that wasn't so bad...let's search the bodies and the rest of this cavern." Rashid makes some quick notes about the creatures and the encounter, and then he looks around the cavern while the party regroups.

Tellerin quickly stows his crossbow, brushing his hands together afterward as if trying to get them clean. He gives a quick look around and then eyes the river warily. "Those creatures didn't seem too bad, but I'm worried they were just a rut in the road. The gillman's descriptions are making me think that there are a lot of evil beings lurking about in these tunnels and these probably weren't the strongest ones."

He looks over the corpse of the big bug and checks if there is anything interesting about it (any gear? unusual markings? a collar? etc). As soon as he's done he returns to watching the river with trepidation. I guess I don't have a choice...

Tellerin puffs out his chest and wades on into the river. Its clearly even slower going for him than it was for Hskoro, with the water coming up to his waist. As soon as he reaches dry land he begins to shiver and starts drying himself as best he can.

As he rubs at his exposed skin, his tattoos glow dimly and suddenly he is dry again. Used Prestidigitation spell-like

Somewhat unsatisfied that he only hit a bug and not the little humanoids, he lets his battle lust subside while the others check the bodies and he guards the group.

"Should we continue to explore this area or head back and take the other path?" Hskoro asks the others.

The companions search over the creatures, but don't find anything of any real use. The bug is just a bug, no trappings or markings. The party looks forward and back, they have a choice of directions.. They may return to the Gillman or continue past the stream.

"Haha," Dolvin laughs as Calephe takes down the last of the creatures. "Those little guys didn't stand a chance. And that bug," He looks at Hskoro and Rashid "You disposed of it with ease. Praise Desna, what warriors we all are."

Dolvin is swept up in his post battle elation looks to the ceiling "Desna bring me swiftness," he stows his crossbow and pulls out spear. His feet begin to glow and he uses the spear to aid in vaulting over the stream.

Jump: 1d20 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (18) + 2 - 4 = 16+ for the aid of the pole, this is all flair anyway

With the aid of Desna Dolvin whoops loudly as he goes flying through the air holding on to the spear with one hand and his hat with the other. "A dwarfs place is firmly planted on the ground, but it is fun to fly now and then." With a thump he lands on the other side and laughs again. "Onward we must go, haha"

Dolvin cast agile feet to not take any effect of difficult terrain for his jump because I wanted a chance to use the ability.

The team decides to continue to the east. Moving through a maze of tight passages loaded with steep ascents and short climbs, you begin to hear the sounds of a far off battle. At one point, you can clearly hear Janira half shouting, half reciting "As the legendary Gregaro Voth successfully battled the wild beasts in the deepest reaches of the Mwangi Expanse, so shall I defeat you, foul servant of Lamashtu!" Her voice is strong, but the weariness is hard to mistake. As you continue, you are able to catch snatches of the distant battle.. earthy roars and loud crashes mixed with inspirational tales of famous Pathfinders and their heroic deeds.

To clarify, since I have no training in Dungeoneering, and the DC is 11, I cannot make a roll, right?

Rashid tenses up when he recognizes Janira's voice. How is she up ahead? A small wave of nausea rolls through him when he sees the mass of jelly blocking the path. Man up, boy... Rashid pulls out his sling and loads it as he tries to avoid retching.

That is correct. The base DC to identify a creature is 10+ the creatures CR rating. This makes identifying all but the most common of creatures impossible if you don't have at least training in a specific knowledge. The Base DC does go up or down for common or rare creatures, but generally speaking, you either do or don't have the knowledge to identify them.

Mwangi Expanse, foul servant of Lamashtu... what is that all about? Wait... that voice! "Wait, do you all hear Janira? If she's in trouble we need to get to her quick! We have a debt to repay, and besides!" Tellerin stops well ahead of the strange jelly, staring in surprise when he sees that it blocks the whole path. His brow furrows when he continues to hear the sounds of combat. "This goop isn't stopping us!"

Tellerin traces his tattoos and then shouts as he points directly at the mass. A thin beam of flame streams forth!

Ray of Flames (burning amplification): 1d20 + 3 - 1 ⇒ (17) + 3 - 1 = 19
Ray of Flames damage: 1d3 ⇒ 3 If this is a creature, its a DC14 REF to stop burning at the end of its turn each round, otherwise it takes 1d6/round. If its an object, I guess it just burns?

Calephe runs and attempts to jump over the stream. She trips on a small rock and barely makes it to the edge. "Ouch that hurt." After wading out of the edge of the stream she looks around to pick up her chakrams.

"I sure don't, Calephe! Whatever that is, it's really gnarly and gross - certainly nothing to negotiate with!" Rashid joins into the attack, maintaining as much distance as he can from the blob. His sling bullet goes deep into the monstrosity, with a plopping, sucking sound.

Spotting the slime creature, Hskoro grabs his warhammer and rushes to take the lead but stops just behind Tellerin as slipping past the others in the group is harder in such tight confines.

Hearing Janira mention Lamashtu gets Dolvin's blood boiling.

"The mother of beasts, she and all who follow her must be stopped. " Dolvin shouts as he runs toward the sound of Janira. He squeezes the trigger of his crossbow and sends a bolt whizzing down the corridor at the creature. "Nothing will stop me from ridding this world of Lamashtu and all her subjects."

Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 1

I have two options for movement one puts me right in front of Tellerin but Hskoro's post threw me off, I thought mechanically speaking I can move through an allied square unhindered. I would justify the mechanics by saying that even though Dolvin is a medium creature he is smaller than an average guy and could get around Tellerin. The other is to move along a side passage but I would only do that if I can't get in front of Tellerin. I wouldn't get a shot off in that option. Let me know, I moved but I can re move if needed.

Sorry for the delay, everyone. We should be back on schedule now!!

All: even though it is aware of you, I will allow a surprise round for all of you due to Tellerin's sudden attack. However, anyone shooting from behind the front lines needs to take a -4 for firing through soft cover.

Calephe, I am not worried about you collecting the chakrams. I assume that after a battle, you would be able to recover all of them if you so desire.

Dolvin and Hskoro: You can indeed move through occupied squares, as long as you are not charging and end somewhere unoccupied. As a caveat to this (and only because it was tried recently at one of my other tables) You cannot move through friendly occupied squares, strike from an occupied square, and then go back to an unoccupied square. There are feats that allow move, attack, move, but certainly not at level 1, and not from occupied squares. Edit: Dolvin, looking at the history of map changes, it looks like Hskoro phrased it that way because Tellerin was in the square that would have been his 30'.

Tellerin moves in closer to launch a ray of fire and initiate combat! As he moves forward, he notices another creature off on a side tunnel.

Tellerin fires off a ray of fire, just barely striking the creature!

Rashid sends a sling stone into the creature where it lands with a soft plop. Did not confirm

Dolvin fires off a crossbow bolt, but it skitters off the stone near the creature.

Tellerin stiffens and his voice rises in pitch "There's another one over here, and its moving!!"
Not willing to be the front line against the quivering ooze near him, Tellerin backs up until his back scrapes against the wall of the narrow tunnel.

I should have a move action left in Round 1 after firing the ray. Where Tellerin moves depends on how tight a squeeze it is to enter the square directly NW of his current location. If it does not require an escape artist check to enter, he'll go there. Otherwise he'll go 3 squares west instead.

I've moved him to the NW square for now, but will adjust based on your feedback.

With the new ooze spotted, Hskoro shouts "I kill!" He then moves into range and brings his hammer down onto the ooze.

Tellerin: As for the move, you are correct and may take a full move action. None of these tunnels require any kind of checks to move through. You may move to whatever location you wish.

Tellerin moves into a side tunnel, while Hskoro moves south to confront the newest creature. He brings his warhammer down in a solid smack to the creature.

Another one? Rashid sees Hskoro dodge a slimy mass appearing from his flank after the blob straight ahead disintegrates into a puddle. He loads another bullet and moves to get behind Hskoro. Pretty sure I can't attack after using a standard action to reload my sling - if I can, please go ahead and roll for me, GM.

Tellerin looks around the tight tunnels to try to find a place from which he might be able to view the second blob. "Hskoro, I can't see it! Back up to get it into the corridor if you need our help dealing with the thing."

Can we risk heading straight for Janira without Hskoro? Time is ticking... Tellerin watches the eastern side of the tunnel anxiously and draws and loads his light crossbow.

Tellerin's voice has a slightly frantic edge as he calls out "Good! Lets go! Hopefully we're not too late to help Janira." Tellerin beckons at the others as he runs off to the east. He holds his light crossbow at the ready in one hand.

As he runs, he listens carefully to the sounds of Janira's voice echoing down the corridor. Can we still hear her? Has anything changed in what we hear to indicate how her (presumed) combat is progressing?

"Nice work, Hskoro! Let's get out of here!" Rashid pockets his sling and bullet and readies his rapier. He follows the others to the sounds of the battle.

The team hurries through the caverns, Janiras voice becoming clearer and more distinct as you move closer. Soon, the pure white radiance of star and moon light filters in through a cave mouth in front of you. As you rush out, you can see the battle raging below you between a very tired looking Janira, and an equally harassed Minotaur.

The light of the surface world above provides a welcome reprieve from the blue and green fungus of the caverns below, and light illuminates a stream whose water is hastened by runoff from a recent storm further up the mountains. A ledge to the west rises up to the nearby forest canopy.

Shaded green areas are difficult terrain and provide concealment. The stream is about 10 feet wide and 5 feet deep in this area, and the water moves downstream from east to west at 30 feet per round. Treat this as rough water, which requires a DC 15 Swim check to navigate. A Large creature can walk through the water as though it were difficult terrain with a successful DC 12 Strength check. On a failed Strength check, such a creature is checked and unable to move farther that turn. A 3-foot-diameter tree truck spans the width of the river, creating an impromptu bridge. The trunk is slippery from the splashing water, and crossing it at half speed requires a successful DC 7 Acrobatics check, during which time the creature is treated as flatfooted for moving on a narrow surface. If the creature fails this check, it falls into the water unless it succeeds at a DC 13 Reflex save, in which case it lands prone on the trunk instead.

Seeing the minotaur on the other side of the river and Janira still battling it, Dolvin takes off running toward the log.

Roaring again with hatred and pain, the beast steps in and swings its ax at the halfling before it. With his first chop, he nearly cuts the woman in half, dropping her where she stands. With a cry bubbling with her life blood, she slumps to the ground and lies still. He utters a roar of triumph before turning to the newcomers.
