I apologize for my spotty posting this week and weekend. I have been spending much needed time with my son and my wife, facilitated by several unexpected days off work. Kids.. they are only young once, and you have to make the best of it when you can!

Tellerin pokes his head into the room where he previously saw the gnome. The gnome still stands at the bookcase, perusing the books but does not react to his audience.
Tellerin: Will save DC 20 please.

Calephe and Hskoro move to the north eastern door and opens it to show what must be a study of some sort. This chamber is filled with desks, chairs, and cushions.. enough to comfortably seat 6 people at least. Papers and books lie scattered about on the desktops, creating an air of clutter in a well used room.

He waves at the gnome, jumps up once to clap his feet on the floor, and then follows it up with a loud "Helloooooo!"

Anyone else wanna try the will save?

Calephe: You can see that the gnome perusing the bookshelf is actually an illusion.

Hskoro searches the study, finding a trove of information. Within the stack of papers on the desk, he finds a note, Last handout on the link and underneath the note is a page with a single word hastily scrawled that simply reads "Zimpar". Off to the side, Hskoro notes two vials, each one labeled with an aging but still readable tag.

Tellerin looks incredulously at Calephe as she begins to converse with the gnome. "Whats this? Telepathy? Sign language? Why is he talking to you and not a fellow--" He cuts off when he realizes that Calephe is holding her laughter in.

A momentary scowl turns into a giggle of his own. He gives a smile to Hskoro when he shows up with the important news.

"Great idea! I'm not too eager to go picking about Fimbrik's things. He might hold it against us when he does return. 'Wiffle' is it? What an odd codeword, never would have guessed it."

"I'm ready to go when you are."

"This house is bizarre though. So much effort in illusions just to give it away by letting the mail pile up. I'd love to meet this Fimbrik, sounds like an interesting sort of gnome." He glances again at the illusion-gnome, as if expecting him to pipe up and admit that he's Fimbrik after all.

BTW Did we end up returning the coin? I think Calephe said we'd do it earlier, and then I totally forgot.

|Ruins |WBGoblins|RotRL| Emerald Spire|

Calephe mentioned returning the coin at the tail end of the conversation with Janira, but it looks like I just pushed things through to Fimbriks house. PbP being the unique creature that it is, I am willing to hand wave that segue way and move forward. At a table that would have simply been a stop on your way to Fimbrik's house.

The group realized Calephes joke, especially as Hskoro joins the rest of the team explaining his finds in the other room. With nothing more to find here, and no desire to root through the absent gnomes personal belongings, the team decides that their work here is done.. but where to for the next episode of this saga of intrigue?

The young adventurers troop off down the road and back towards the Shrine of the Failed. Arriving at the Shrine, you find that despite the early hour, a crowd has already begun to form. From the muttering of the people gathered, it seems that Sir Reinhart, a Mendevian crusader intent on becoming a god, is about to attempt the Test of the Starstone atop his trusty steed.

As you push towards the Shrine of the Failed and down the basement stairs, you hear everything from wagers and bets being placed to hopeful pleas and affirmations of success for the divine hopeful. Entering the cool marble building once more, you note that once again, the building is empty of even the caretakers.. it seems that everyone is watching Sir Reinhart attempt to prove himself a god. Quickly, you move down the steps to the shrine you discovered, pull out the chalkboard, and carefully scribe the word "Wiffle" thereon. With a quiet grinding, the illusion covered wall slides away to reveal a rough hewn passage.

You move through what seems to be almost a maze, with several corridors and tunnels twining their way through the area and culminating in a dimly lit little alcove. Several desks are arranged along the northern and eastern edges of this small stone alcove. Whereas the stonework leading to this chamber is rough, the walls in the alcove are polished. A single gem rests among the neatly filed papers on the desk, emitting a soft luminescence that brightens the
small room.

"You're right Hskoro, with how much this place was hidden, I thought there would be something nasty sealed away." He shrugs "Doesn't make for a very good story, but what can we do?"

Tellerin casts detect magic, sweeping the room for any interesting magical artifacts or active spells. He also focuses his attention on the stone to determine what kind of magic might be invested in it.

The group pours over the desks and the documents, and Tellerin and Dolvin work together to identify the stone as nothing more than a very expensive gemstone with a "Continual Flame" spell cast on it for use as a light source.

The trove of documents seem to not only be written in a different language, but also in a type of cypher unreadable to any present. This alone would be enough to indicate their importance, even if they were not secreted within a hidden room underneath the shrine. Other than the stacks upon stacks of documents and papers, all written in the same coded hand, there is nothing of any note to be found here.

"I would have liked if we worked out the incredible secret ourselves, but if none of us can read them, we might as well deliver the papers to someone who can." And they'll get all the credit, won't they? Tellerin hops up onto one of the chairs and begins to take some notes on their experience, and what they found here.

Once he's done her takes a few of the most prominent coded papers and stows them in his pack.

Careful to grab everything they find, they move quickly to secure the site and move back to the lodge. Tellerin:
Aside from the reflex throw, I could find no ruling that the only way to put out the flames was to make the save. Therefore, I am treating this like any other flame.. ie that it can be extinguished by a full round action of smothering the flames. If you have any ruling or materiel that shows otherwise, please let me know!

Calephe keeps the pressure up against her target. Her first slash misses, but draws the halfling into her kukri for a slice he will not soon forget!

The halfing swats at his clothes, trying to put out the fires from Tellerin's flames. Getting that under control, he pokes back at Calephe. His rapier seems to be aimed straight for her eye, but at the last moment, Calephe ducks her head and ends with a long cut along her cheek.

Tellering runs from the battle, waves of terror clouding his mind and nearly stopping his heart.

The witch makes a short incantation and points a finger to Calephe, who suddenly feels her limbs sapped of strength!

Tellerin screams something unintelligible while running. Between his mad screaming, there are snippets of "Agh! Demon Orcs!" and "Save meee!"

Cupper separates from the frightened gnome and hides somewhere safe, clearly not wanting to be part of this embarrassing display.

Wow, our group is pretty cleanly disabled other than Dolvin. 6 STR penalty is brutal for Calephe, and that entangle-root isn't letting up either :<

Dolvin manages to knock the rogues rapier from his hand, but in doing so, takes another poke to the chest!

Hskoro continues to fight valiantly against the goo encasing him, but is unable to break free!

The dwarf gets to his feet touches the shoulder of the fighter next to him. Suddenly, the fighter is wreathed in a golden glow that heals some of his wounds.

Ahh.. I moved him by accident.. but its still all yours, Calephe, since it was my mistake.!

Calephe takes advantage of the dwarf stepping too close to her and nearly cuts him in half with two very precise swings of her sword and kukri!

The fighters continue to press the attack, with Calephe's opponent nearly skewering her. Thankfully, the point of the rapier glances off of her armor harmlessly.

AOO from Dolvin

Tellerin exits the shrine at full speed, screaming like a banshee the whole way!

The witch turns her attentions to Dolvin, pulling out a scroll and beginning to read it. As the magical words flash and flare up from the paper, Dolvin feels a powerful will pressing in on his mind, ordering him to flee!

Dolvin Slams his great warhammer into his unarmed attacker and begins to say something before the feeling of pure terror washes over him and he screams and runs to cower in the corner.

So Dolvin retreats but I don't think that it threatens because he is unarmed.

Also I know I am supposed to run away far, so if you want to move me far you can but I figured the corner would work, if not just put me where you want me.
