Gil, in case that got lost back there.

No, I was afk. It just seems like I live on the boards.

Reflex save 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10

Can you show the cone of steam on the map? And where does one need to be to try to stop it? She will move south (presumably) to get out of the cone and see if she can stop the steam, but I don't know how much movement that will require/if I can make a check this round.

"Need you more evidence, Caretaker? We are here to protect the facility from that creature and he destroys it before your very eyes! Stop the hobgoblin!"

Diplomacy? 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (16) + 15 = 31

It isn't an ongoing thing, it's a quick blast that has now ended. It came from a movable hose. You also failed your save, which means you are dazed for this round.

Rod, who is dazed, then Rolund.

Sorry - between seeing that I needed to roll and entering the save, I forgot about the secondary effect. Your comment about the checks that might help with the steam made me think it was ongoing.

Gil is burned and blistered pretty good in the steam blast and appears a little unsteady on her feet.

Ikar smirks, "Really? Do you ever dream at night?"

The fight will be over by the time Janosz and Ikar stop exchanging pleasantries.

Using his shield to protect himself from the worst of the steam, Rolund then turns at the Purified.

“Gather your wits, idiot,” he snaps before uttering a short prayer and drawing his blade.

Standard action: cast extended bull’s strength on self with blessing of fervor.
Move action: draw sword.

Meanwhile, the Valenar reaches the hobgoblin’s hiding space and slashes at him with Falla Caensenri.

As Runzyl slashes across the hobgoblin's body Ikar grunts, a red stain spreading across his chest. "Ah yes - flesh. So fragile." He grits his pointed teeth in a grimace.

The Caretaker continues to dither, unsure of what to do.

"Kadesh, stay clear!"

If I don't get in there faster, he's going to be free of that body before I can lock him down. Ezreal invokes another spell while running a finger down the raven's feather on his necklace. The mage gets a running start and leaps up flying in a wide loop around the creation forge at Ikar.

First, Ref save from Kadesh, DC 20, or take 5d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 1, 3, 3) = 12 damage - the forge is hot. Second...

The top of the creation forge begins to writhe as it flexes, like a tree in a gale, ripping free and showering the floor with debris. An articulated limb like a knotty, silvered branch slams down to the floor, rears up, and slams down again.

Everyone, DC 15 Ref save or take 2d6 from falling bits and pieces - you roll the damage. Rolund, lucky chap, avoids this as he is outside the room.

Limb is attacking LB and Janosz.

Janosz runs up the stair and onto the platform. Once there, he dives at Ikar, grabbing the hobgoblin.

Move to K4 before grappling Ikar. He gets an AoO if holds a weapon. Attack roll 14+12=26 vs his CMD.

Concentration check from Ikar 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (11) + 15 = 26 v DC 25

Janosz charges up the stairs and pins Ikar's arms to his side. Ikar snarls through gritted teeth, "The great thing about possessing mental powers is that I can kill you without moving a muscle!" Ikar's eyes flash silver as he sends a massive psychic assault through Janosz's neural pathways. The feedback washes over Runzyl's largely defenceless mind, wracking him with pain.

9d10 ⇒ (10, 10, 1, 5, 10, 5, 9, 6, 3) = 59 damage, Will save DC 21 negates.

Also, second Concentration check 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (13) + 15 = 28 v DC 19. Runzyl take a -4 penalty to attack rolls, skill checks and ability checks. Will save DC 18 reduces this penalty to -2.

Runzyl Will save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24 plus an extra +2 (elf resistance) if applicable.

That's another natural 20 on Runzyl's save. :D

Will save 11+7+4(action point)=22. I saved my action points for stuff like this.

With a grimace, Janosz shakes off Ikar's mental assault. "Uh-huh. Coincidentally, we can kill you without moving too many muscles either, mental powers or no." With a grunt, Janosz slams his forehead into the hobgoblin's face. "I think the time for polite chitchat is over."

Next turn I'll try to pin him. Then he'll take a -4 penalty on all Concentration checks.

Gil's next.

“Awake, Tarrnish! Awake and serve me once more!” Rolund’s cry cuts through the Creation Forge’s rumbling as he steps forward to challenge it. The flametouched iron sword is suddenly enveloped in frost.

Swift Action: cast grace, no AoO from the forge.
Standard Action: activate Death’s Bond. Transform +1 flametouched iron longsword into +1 icy burst flametouched iron longsword.
Move Action: Move to O13 with blessing of fervor’s speed enhancement.

Attack #1 (blessing of fervor, righteous vigor): 1d20 + 16 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (5) + 16 + 1 - 2 = 20. Damage: 1d6 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12 plus 1d6 ⇒ 6 cold.

If the second attack hits, Runzyl’s third attack gets a +3 to hit and 1d8 ⇒ 2 temporary hps (Max. 20 hps).
If the third attack hits, Runzyl’s fourth attack gets a +4 to hit and 1d8 ⇒ 2 temporary hps (Max. 20 hps).
If the fourth attack hits, Runzyl’s fifth attack gets a +4 to hit and 1d8 ⇒ 1 temporary hps (Max. 20 hps).
If the fifth attack hits, Runzyl’s sixth attack gets a +4 to hit and 1d8 ⇒ 5 temporary hps (Max. 20 hps).
If the sixth attack hits, Runzyl’s next attack gets a +4 to hit and 1d8 ⇒ 6 temporary hps (Max. 20 hps).

If any of the attack’s miss, the bonus to hit returns to +0, no temporary hps are gained, and the process begins anew.

Seriously injured, Bor finally shakes off the dizziness and continues to watch the Caretaker and the Creation Forge for any more hostile movement.

Standard action: full defense. AC 28.
Move action: nil.

I've noticed that PF has got rid of the rule in 3.5 whereby if you attack into a grapple you have an equal chance of hitting either grappler. I'm reinstating that rule. Please roll a 50% chance to affect Janosz for each of those attacks by Runzyl. Also note that Janosz's DEX is reduced by 4 as a result of his grappled condition.

Caretaker still doesn't move.

"Runzyl! I am coming in! Do not slash me!" Ezreal ascends and flies up next to the elf while casting. He reaches out to touch him and a band of silvery blue runes momentarily appear in a wide circle around everyone on the platform before vanishing.

MA: Fly to M4 at whatever elevation that is.
Ikar doesn't have AoO's while grappled.
SA: Magic Circle Against Evil on Runzyl, 100 minutes, 10' radius emanation, +2 on all saves vs evil, +2 deflection vs evil if you don't already have it, immune to possession or mental control from evil creatures.
Currently affecting: Runzyl, Janosz, & Ezreal

If we are going back to the 50% wrong target to hit someone in a grapple it is worth reminding that the Improved Precise Shot feat was the way to get around that in 3.5. Alas- Ezreal has regular Precise Shot, and cannot risk hitting Janosz with the enervation he planned or the dimensional anchor that was to follow it. I planned on locking him down so that he can't escape when the hobgoblin falls then everyone can beat the stuffing out of the real guy.
EDIT: Just realized enervation is only going to affect Ikar until Fourgri emerges. We need to shore up some of the potential hosts with protection from evil to lessen his chances of grabbing up Runzyl, Bor, or Basher. I suspect he goes for the Caretaker next, but I'm not going over there to cast protection from evil on him.

Male Human Ranger 7/Eldeen ranger (Gatekeeper) 5/Fighter 1

The 50% chance of missing Ikar while he's grappled is just too much - Janosz can't take a couple of big hits from Lightbringer. Instead, I can just drop him, after which LB, Runzyl and myself unleash on him. Ikar's body just can't handle that sort of punishment. So if LB delays until after me, I'll let go of him, pull my flail and then pop Ikar twice, followed by a full attack action from LB.

I won't be able to reach him and still attack this round, unless you are thinking of literally throwing him over the edge of the platform.

Also, if Janosz and / or Runzyl want to take 5 foot steps around it will give LB a better chance to get in there.
Having said that, I tend to agree with Ith, that Fourgri is likely to possess the Caretaker when Ikar's body is wrecked - I'm half inclined to have LB wait down here for that eventuality.

Runzyl would take a 5' step to M5 if possible after his last action, he tends to do a lot of moving and shifting in combat anyway, so it would be natural for him to move to surround an opponent. Also, thank you for rolling 20s on my saves, GG. :) I'm back now.

Runzyl's ghost touch weapons can probably hurt it while it is outside a host body as well... if that's how it goes.

Anybody worried that the Creation Forge may have come alive by our activities or may be under the influence of an animate object spell or power?

m ROD! CLERIC 6 EXORCIST SLVR FLAME 5exp =125,535(cast as a 9th level cleric)

brainstorming here;....I have a portable hole. If it will fit and is not bolted down could we push it in the portable hole?

79/79 hp, 0 nonlethal; Effects: ; Perception +16, vs traps +20; Guise: Non-descript male gambler

Sure, but in my mind's eye, it is both too large and bolted down. I'm not sure what of our activities could have brought it to life, but I suspect Fourgi might be able to do it -- unless the Forge was a type of warforged itself and has been animate all along.
