Janosz.

Male Human Ranger 7/Eldeen ranger (Gatekeeper) 5/Fighter 1

With a kick, Janosz glides past the corner. Spotting the dark mass of the mecha-octopus, he squeezes off a shot.

Move to S16 before firing. Attack roll 13+18+1(PBS)-4(non-proficient exotic weapon)=AC 28, damage 2d8+1+1(PBS)=11.

Janosz fires the unfamiliar weapon. The bolt heads into the gloom and Janosz thinks he hits something, but he seems to do little damage and the kraken's attacks are not weakened.

One attack each on Gil and Rolund.
Gil: 1d20 + 17 - 4 ⇒ (15) + 17 - 4 = 28 to hit, damage 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (3, 6) + 7 = 16; on a hit, attempts to grapple 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (6) + 25 = 31 CMB
Rolund: 1d20 + 17 - 4 ⇒ (3) + 17 - 4 = 16 to hit, damage 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (3, 2) + 7 = 12; on a hit, attempts to grapple 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (12) + 25 = 37 CMB
It will drill whoever it has held in a grapple for 3d8 + 10 ⇒ (3, 2, 6) + 10 = 21; if it has a choice, it will drill Rolund as he is closer.

The Gilbot is struck again and grappled. It appears that attack misses Rolund, so I will record the squeeze damage to the golem suit.

For those that can see, the damage to the golem suit is apparent.

hp 73 of 156; AC 23 (29); Fort +15, Ref +8, Will +13 Warforged Paladin 9 / Exorcist of the Silver Flame 4; Effects: Bless, Airwalk, Weapon of Awe, Ironskin, Bull’s Strength

Lightbringer will delay until after Rolund has acted. If the rope appears to tangle in the drill bit, he will then take the rope where it passes him and try to wrap it around the loose end of a nearby tentacle, preferably one grappling Gil. If the rope does not catch in the drill he will try to pry one of the tentacles grappling Gil off the suit.

Either way I assume it will be a grapple check that will draw an AoO: CMB: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (19) + 14 = 33

As the drill bites into the construct armor once again, Rolund takes the opportunity and throws the rope to entangle it.

From previous rolls, I hit AC 22 and I’m hoping the rope is now entangling the drill.

Gil

Grapple check to escape the creature's grapple

1d20 + 16 ⇒ (19) + 16 = 35

Oh, system failure check, 01 - 12 fails

1d100 ⇒ 86

Next check: 13%

Rolund throws the looped rope and snags the drill, dragging it away from where it is ripping open Gil's suit. Gil again shrugs off the entangling tentacles.

I think Gil still has a move action if she wants it. Otherwise it's the boys at the end of the rope.

79/79 hp, 0 nonlethal; Effects: ; Perception +16, vs traps +20; Guise: Non-descript male gambler

She does, but.... OK, Gil will retreat for repairs and sent Basher down for additional muscle. However far she can get back toward the rest of the party. Her speed is 20', but I don't know if the stairs will slow her down.

It's not a directive, so you don't have to take it. But yeah, it might be wise after holding the line like that... We'll assume Basher comes down and takes the AoO.

AoO: 1d20 + 17 - 4 ⇒ (15) + 17 - 4 = 28, damage 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (4, 5) + 7 = 16

Time for Bor and whoever is helping him to pull that rope.

Sorry for being dense. Is the AoO to Gil or Basher?

Basher.

1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23

Bor and Rod strain on the rope. But the kraken resists with all its might, a jet of water surging from it as it fights to stay in position.

Janosz.

I believe Ez and Runzyl should start to help out otherwise the squid isn't going anywhere. Also, I'm getting nervous that the rope may snap from the weight we're trying to drag.

Yeah, we dropped the ball, we should have had Runzyl on the rope in Fate’s semi-absence. I haven’t been paying enough attention to what the other characters are doing, sorry. Next round (assuming the rope holds), LB intends to delay to act with Bor and Aid Another on the rope, I suggest Runzyl do the same.

Both Fatey and Ez are a bit intermittent at the moment. You can have them roll their STR rolls if you want and add it above.

No move. Reload and then fire again. Attack roll 11+18+1(PBS)-4(non-proficient exotic weapon)=AC 26, damage 2d8+1+1(PBS)=12.

HPs: 96 / 96, APs: 11/8 Effects: Karnnathi Wizard (Universalist) 12 / Cataclysm Mage 1

For this turn, yes. Once Gil-bot clears the water I may throw down a repair then let her tow me into position for the electro-bomb.

Str 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (6) + 0 = 6

Hate to burst your bubble but it takes a full round action to reload a great crossbow and it draws AoO.

Sir Rolund ir'Kraal wrote:

Took the words out of my mouth. The dwarf using it was able to reload faster because she had relevant feats.

In any case...

Despite its struggles, the kraken is hauled incrementally up the corridor.

AoO from Roly and Basher.

Bah! Stupid mega-crossbow.

And since I'm sitting here: AoO Basher 12+13=AC 25, damage 1d8+9=16. Damage counts as magic and adamantine.

Gripping his weapon two-handed, Rolund strikes as his companions begin dragging the construct squid out of the water.

AoO (-2 slashing): 1d20 + 13 - 2 ⇒ (17) + 13 - 2 = 28. Damage (1/2 slashing): 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11.

Basher's mighty punch puts a dent in the squid-machine. Rolund's blow scratches its paintwork.

Janosz, are you still reloading? If you do you heroically take an AoO.

Male Human Ranger 7/Eldeen ranger (Gatekeeper) 5/Fighter 1

I think I'll just withdraw back up the staircase. The way this is working out, I'll be more useful pulling the rope.

You stil take an AoO, since withdrawal only works from the space you actually left.

Janosz realises his lack of facility with the crossbow is more of a liability than a help, and tries to dodge the flailing tentacles as he heads back topside.

1d20 + 17 - 4 ⇒ (6) + 17 - 4 = 19 to hit, damage 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (5, 4) + 7 = 16

The creature now concentrates on its nearer foes.

Attacks on Rolund and Basher:
Rolund: 1d20 + 17 - 4 ⇒ (9) + 17 - 4 = 22 to hit, damage 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (6, 5) + 7 = 18, on a hit attempts to grapple CMB 1d20 + 25 - 4 ⇒ (5) + 25 - 4 = 26
Basher: 1d20 + 17 - 4 ⇒ (5) + 17 - 4 = 18 to hit, damage 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (4, 3) + 7 = 14, on a hit attempts to grapple CMB 1d20 + 25 - 4 ⇒ (17) + 25 - 4 = 38
It's drill is out of commission for the moment while it is tangled up (lucky you!).

LB, though Mothy mentioned he might not be about so someone else can take his turn.

Here for the moment but not on a good device. LB will again delay to aid another on the rope with Bor, only this time he will move back up the stairs with the rope and kraken if they move it.

Basher and Rolund narrowly dodge the tentacles and the bone knight takes advantage to strike the squid construct.

Full-round action: attack construct squid.
Attack (-2 slashing) #1: 1d20 + 13 - 2 ⇒ (2) + 13 - 2 = 13. Damage (1/2 slashing): 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7.

Gil continues her retreat in hopes that Ezreal has some Repair spells prepared.

Man, I hate bailing on you guys, but that thing drilled me pretty good. Pun intended.

Gil's suit and Lightbringher emerge from the water.

Is Ez throwing down a Repair now or waiting until after the fight? Otherwise, it's Basher.

When she explains he grits his teeth, "I want you to pull me into place so that I can attempt to disable the construct. I don't know if any of you guys read Rendar's spoilered advice in the ooc a little while back with Aubrey's follow up, but it was a damn good idea considering how this is going. Short version- open the tent underwater to drop the water level leaving the squid at a huge disadvantage.
I don't recall if it is Janosz or Rodergo who has the tent, but it was a pretty creative solution if you are into it.

m ROD! CLERIC 6 EXORCIST SLVR FLAME 5exp =125,535(cast as a 9th level cleric)

I don't wanna trash the tent; I will if this tug of war doesn't do better with Jan and others on the rope.

I missed two failure checks:

Failure on 1 - 13: 1d100 ⇒ 21
Failure on 1 - 14: 1d100 ⇒ 9

Uh-oh. This is just prior to her last move up the stairs.

Result of failure: 1d100 ⇒ 22

The Suit ceases to operate until it recharges.

Suddenly, the suit stops moving. Lightbringer can see her through the canopy trying to get some sort of response from the suit, but it is not moving. The lights on the unit are fading, however, and she seems to be blind to where he is. "Lightbringer? Are you still out there? This crazy thing has stopped - I think it's out of power!"

Save your RMD spell unless you are swimming down to apply it to me.

Sorry I've been intermittant lately, guys. We're preparing for another move in a few weeks. Runzyl will continue to assist with the rope until the kraken is fully 'beached,' at which point he will wade in and try to carve it apart.

Lightbringer was actually delaying until Bor pulls on the rope, to Aid Another. If / when they move the kraken forward with the rope he will move back up the stairs by the same amount, as per my post above.

However, while he is delaying, if he sees that Gil is in trouble he will instead attempt to drag / manhandle the suit back up the stairs instead of assisting with the rope. Stregnth check if required (either for rope or to drag the suit: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13

The suit is incredibly heavy - it can't be moved. I'll have to rejig the map to put it back on but for the moment it probably won't be going anywhere.

I think we are a bit messed up on init at the moment, what with Gil’s suit malfunction.

LB is delaying to help Bor with the rope (and step backwards as the kraken is pulled up).

Rolund attacked.

Gil-bot was planning to move out of the water, but the suit malfunctioned and she got stuck.

Ez was going to repair Gil-bot, but she is still under water ... so we need a different action from Ez?

Heath acted for Basher, he attacked the squid again (it is under a spoiler).

Rod is on the rope, waiting for Bor.

So we need an action or confirmation of delay from Ez, then Bor (and assistants) on the rope.

In the interest of keeping things moving, while we wait on Ez ...

Muscles straining, Bor adjusts his grip on the rope. “Ready?” he bellows at Rodergo and Runzyl, then heaves again.

Feeling the rope grow taut again below the surface, Lightbringer also grips and pulls. Str Aid Another: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16 – he will move back by whatever distance (if any) the kraken is pulled forward.

Rod, Runzyl and whoever else (if any) is helping on the rope also get an Aid Another check.

Bor fails to get much of a grip on the rope this time, and Rodergo and Ezreal aren't much help either. The kraken easily resists the pull of the rope this time. Its tentacles lash at Rolund and Bor.

Basher: 1d20 + 17 - 4 ⇒ (15) + 17 - 4 = 28 to hit, damage 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (4, 6) + 7 = 17 and on a successful hit CMD 1d20 + 25 - 4 ⇒ (4) + 25 - 4 = 25 to grapple

Actually, I think, in line with Mothy's comment, we probably have Rolund, Basher and Bor's rope-pullers on the initiaitve, rather than anything else, unless people decide otherwise. So - Rolund.
