Barkhad, then LB.
The shaken Barkad moves to aa13, trying to engage the dragon in melee.
r16+9-2(shaken)+1(inspire)=24; damage 9+4=13 with his greataxe."Fear is.....the mindkiller.....I will bend like the willow...."
(edit) not enuff movement (deedee DEE)!!! reposted his stuff two posts down.

I don’t think Barkhad has the movement to get from U14 to AA13 and attack. He’s a dwarf after all. What would be more cinematic is for him to jump down (DC 15, -2 shaken) from the raised stern next to Rod (V14), saying something witty to him, continue his movement to Y14 while drawing his throwing axe, and making a ranged attack (-2 shaken, +1 inspire courage) with it.

duuh....
jump r11+?-2=9+? (all I see is intimidate; guess he gets no bonus)
to hit with the axe r16 (I re rolled it in the spirit of gamesmanship).
+6-2+1=21 to hit; damg r4+2=6 on the dragonbone.
"Axe me no question, I'll tell you no lies!" hows that; so I think he bolloxed the jump and is at v14; if not y14.

He’s also got an armor check penalty too! However, I don’t think missing your jumping down check stops your movement. It simply means you took the full damage of the height jumped instead of height – 10 feet.

Barkhad trundles like a miniature warforged over the edge of the deck and lands painfully with a thud besides Rodergo. (His armour is so heavy it's not even in the main rulebook, and he's taken no points in Jump.) He staggers to his feet, still clutching a throwing axe and growls, "Kiss me axe, lizard!" (See, we can all do this witty dwarf stuff. This works more with his skills and he missed anyway, so it's no loss.)

Lightbringer |

Rolled a 5 for the AoO on the dragon, which I imagine would be a miss. I don't have my map at home, will need to re-draw everyone's positions to work out if LB can reach the dragon in melee again this round, which will likely be the plan...

Lightbringer |

Alright, hopefully I’ve mapped this right…
Lightbringer, still flying, launches himself off the support strut, charging through midair, underneath the elemental ring, silvery blade swinging. “Do not think you can escape justice, evil-doer,” he cries as he lands on the deck beside the skeletal dragon, all his momentum and faith going into the swing of his blade as it arcs towards his foe.
Fly / charge to AA14. Another use of Charging Smite with a smite evil power attack – no Devastating smite this time unfortunately. I’m going to assume, if the dragon still has an AoO this round, I manage to survive it, however barely. My attack rolls (and action point rolls) are ridiculously good against this thing, apart from that last AoO:
Attack: 19+13+2 (charge) +1 (bardic) +3 (smite) +6 (AP) -6 (PA) = 38
Damage: 9+8+1 (bardic) + 12 (PA) + 6 (smite) + 12 (charging smite) = 48.

Lightbringer hurls himslef into the fray again. The dragon spins and its long neck snaps out, catching the paladin in its jaws and holding him fast between its snaggled teeth.
21 points of damage, including 4 cold damage. You are also grappled - his grapple check is +51. If (if!) you fail your grapple check, you are held fast and your attack fails. For reference, the dragon does not count as grappled himself to anyone else.

Gil |

I'm confused here - the dragon can do damage while initiating a grapple and does not count as grappling even while performing a grapple. How is that even possible?
Not terribly well versed in those particular rules, but I know that if the creature takes a -20 on their grapple check, they can grapple with whatever part of the body initiated the grapple while not being considered grappled. Being considered grappled refers to things like whether he loses his Dexterity bonus to AC, whether he threatens adjacent squares, etc. Essentially, he's so blasted much larger than LB, he can hold the paladin fast without giving up his ability to fight with the rest of us. (Previous knowledge brought to you courtesy of a near-death encounter with a Huge Anaconda at a recent tabletop session. Might have been a TPK without the druid and her Dominate Animal spell.)

Lightbringer |

Except you can’t grapple (or use other special attacks) as part of an AoO.
That’s my story anyway, and I’m sticking to it! ;-)
In all seriousness, I thought that was the case – an AoO can only be a straight attack, not a trip or disarm or grapple or what have you. If that’s not the case – either in this game or by the RAW – that’s cool, I’ll consider myself educated (and stuck fast).

Lightbringer |

Snatch feat again. It's sort of like Swallow Whole in a feat - attack, and start a grapple as a free action without suffering an AoO yourself. It has taken him two feats to be able to do that to LB, of course. It's worth pointing out, too, that dragons are essentially unfair anyway.
Fair enough.
Lightbringer kicks and rails against the dangerous and unjust position he has found himself in, but to no avail - he cannot free himself from the dragon's claw.
So since I didn't get to actually attack, is my smite evil wasted? Or just not considered used?

Runzyl Steelsong |

Runzyl, hearing the dragon land behind him, drops his bow to the deck (a free action) and bolts into the fray, pulling Falla Caesenri from his back (drawing the weapon as part of my movement). He quickly darts inside the dragon's considerable reach and delivers a furious slash to it's underside, leaping back just as suddenly and doing his best to avoid the gaze of the vampiress on it's back (gotta love Spring Attack).
Starting from X12, I move to AA14 (20' move) to deliver my attack with a two-handed swing. Attack roll: 17 + 14 + 1(bardic) = 32. That sure as hell better hit. :) Damage: 12 (physical) + 5 (fire). Good aligned and magical. Then, with Spring Attack, I retreat to W14 (another 20'). The dragon is my Dodge target.

Still cowering in the doorway, Salvorazo casts a spell at the bony dragon's master.
Casting Magic missile on the vampire. Spell penetration (if needed) 14+7=21. Damage 4+4+5+3=16.
Still cowed by the dragon's presence, Ferez looks for a way to make herself useful. Spotting a familiar-looking object, she starts digging around Ezreal's bandolier.
Ezreal is still down, right? If so, Ferez pulls out his potion of CLW and pours it down his throat. Ezreal recovers 6 hp, regains conciousness - and his new initiative is 5.
Trinkis grips the wheel tighter, willing the elemental to redouble its efforts.
As the dragon is sitting on the deck, it can't be rammed anymore. However, there are a pair of corpse brides floating in front of the ship. Any chance of running over one of them? He increases the speed by 5' per round anyway. Potential ramming roll 4=epic ramming fail.
Ezreal, red shirts - and then the enemy :/

Quandary |

I've been following along your guys thread on and off (it's so great!),
So in the spirit of rooting for the good guys, I wanted to mention that Lightbringer could take 1 hand off his Greatsword and draw a Light Weapon or make a Gauntlet/Slam attack with the Charging Smite and do a good amount of damage anyways. Or if you'd rather forego an Attack, make a Grapple Attempt to Escape instead.
If anybody ever has to drop out at some point, I know I'd love to join this game :-)

Lightbringer |

That was going to be my plan next round (smite with slam attack – assuming I’m still alive), but I wouldn’t be able to use Charging Smite seeing as by that time I won’t be charging.
I got the impression from Aubrey that the snatch effectively ended my action this turn if I didn’t succeed on the grapple check, so I couldn’t proceed with the charge (even changing to a slam attack). If that’s not the case, and he’ll still allow it, I’m more than happy to complete the charge with a slam attack rather than great sword!
That ship may have sailed though… Thanks for the suggestion anyway Quandary.

Sir Rolund ir'Kraal |

No longer able to shield Farlowe after his teleportation, Rolund turns his attention to the wyrm. A short trip brings him into melee with it. Move action: Move to EE14. Standard action: Attack – r17+11+1(inspire courage)=29; Damage – r6+3+1(inspire courage)=10.
No longer shieldless. AC 17 (19 vs. evil)

Aubrey the Demented/Malformed |

Rolund hews mightily, but barely scratches the creature, his sword skidding off its rime-covered bones and digging up splinters from the deck.
The dragon eases backwards (5' move to AA-CC/12-14). It clamps its jaws down harder on Lightbringer, its fangs slicing through fibres and plating (22 points of damage, including 2 cold damage). But it saves its other attacks for Rolund. In a flurry of wings and claws its rips and pummels the knight to the deck, unconscious and bleeding. (Two claws, two wings and a tail - they all hit and do 80 damage. That's thank you and goodnight from Rolund, but in line with the "back from the brink" rule in the house rules section you lose half your starting APs for this level and stabilise at -9.)
The angels focus their fire on Janosz and two arrows strike him. (9 and 7 damage respectively.) Orlaith grins in predatory fashion and raising her hand, fires two ruby rays at the ranger which burn where they touch his flesh. (15 and 11 fire damage respectively.)
Janosz (assuming you are still upright).

Janosz Frogshanks |

Still standing - only barely, though.
Janosz keeps pouring arrows into the vampire.
I'd forgotten about our bardic music so far. No move, using Rapid Shot and silver arrows. Attack 1: 11+13+1(PBS)+1(bard)=AC 26, damage 7+3+1+1=12. Attack 2: 9+13+1+1=AC 24, damage 6+3+1+1=11. Attack 3: 13+8+1+1=AC 23, damage 7+3+1+1=12.

Aubrey the Demented/Malformed |

Ah well, I should be used to your liberal rules interpretations by now...
Janosz fires three times, and three times the arrows hit the vampire priestess. The final missile lodges in her throat and she chokes, eyes wide. She reaches up to touch the arrow as smoke begins to pour from her open mouth. Her whole body then crumbles into a puff of dust and smoke which is swept away by the fierce wind made by the passage of the Crimson Eagle.
Orlaith down. Jalana, then Gil.

Ouch! So where does that leave me in APs – 5 or 4?
I had hoped that the dragon would turn its attention to me, otherwise LB was going to bear the brunt of its wrath. Still, serves me right for fighting without my bone armor.

Janosz Frogshanks |

You hit three times, but why do you keep giving yourself +1 for Point Blank Shot when she is more than 30' away?
I seriously thought they were about 30' away. However, I did give up on updating the map once the rest of the crew started streaming up on deck. Sorry about that. I guess it balances out not counting in the effects of Bless until now.

Orlaith down.
Huzzah! Good luck with getting back to the coffin before the sun rises.

Gil |

Gil has two focuses at this point - to maneuver to cast her Haste spell where it will benefit as many allies as possible (within 40' of her, 30' from each other) and to maneuver to where she can use the Want of Repair Light Wounds on Lightbringer, if she can reach him within the maw.
If she can cast the spell right now, she will do so and move to aid LB. Otherwise, LB is a project for next round.

Lightbringer |

I think Gil will need to move through the dragon’s reach (and therefore suffer AoOs for the movement) to reach LB. Honestly, 1 hit of the wand of CLW isn’t going to keep him going for an extra round anyway, so go with haste, see if we can take this dragon down this round.

Haste is getting cast this round. I just don't know if I need to move first to do it or not. If so, I will move and cast. If LB is looking as damaged as you imply, she will move up onto the rear deck by Trinkis instead and ready the wand of lightning bolt for next round.
OK, sorry I'm so indecisive. Here's Gil's action, based on my understanding that she had moved into the correct position last round:
Still invisible, Gil casts Haste on the aforementioned allies and moves up onto the rear deck near Trinkis, drawing the wand of lightning bolt as she moves, crouching down by the rail to avoid stray arrows from foes and allies alike since they cannot see her.
