Tongues was a pretty strong pick for someone whose powerful spells depend on language. If you are looking further some other interesting ones might be- discern lies, gaseous form, bestow curse (will save), blindness/deafness (fort save), call lightning (3d6 every round, active 1 min /level for max of 1 bolt / level), eagle's splendor (for higher DCs, though an item will eventually replace it), or one of the other blasting spells Scorching Ray (no save), fireball, or lightning bolt.
You have experience using all of the energy types of those blasting spells through items so have had time to break down the concepts and rework them as a recaster would do.
Also Command Undead is basically Charm Person for undead. Charm Monster is restricted to 1 living creature, so this would expand your mind control to another type of enemies who are immune to all your other mind spells.

I keep coming back to Tongues as appropriate from a role-playing standpoint, even if we don't encounter any "foreigners". I'll go with that.

Expanded Knowledge is Recaster. The difference is she can take a spell from ANY class, but only 3rd level or lower.
Something that just occurred to me - can these be divine spells? Some healing could be useful if the party gets split up. And there are some cool bard spells at tht level too, like Confusion, Fear, Good hope and Scrying.

It can be divine. She has Confusion and Crushing Despair with this level. There is a divine spell from an Eberron book that allows a warforged to fully benefit from healing spells for a few rounds -- I debated that one, too. I'll be doing this again in two levels, maybe I will look at some healing then. Unless someone is very intent on seeing a different choice, I'm going with Tongues.

Fates (or anyone)> Correct me if I'm wrong, but keen edge is not stackable with Improved Critical, correct? So I cannot bump your crit range up to 12-20.
EDIT: Nm, I found it.
prd wrote:Special: You can gain Improved Critical multiple times. The effects do not stack. Each time you take the feat, it applies to a new type of weapon.
This effect doesn't stack with any other effect that expands the threat range of a weapon.
Yeah, I figured there was no sense in making you "spend" a 3rd-level spell slot for something like that each day and then have to waste your first action in any given combat to bestow the benefits on me... when I could just have it "on" all the time for the cost of a feat. Plus, the feat is non-magical and therefore cannot be removed by dispel magic or antimagic field.

I just kept a scroll handy for crunch time situations, but outside of the two weapon flurrying guy with a higher crit range it is a lot less bang for your buck. I have one more scroll of it which I'll cast on someone else at some point then other utility/situational spells will go into my scroll collection.

Lightbringer's greatsword would become 17-20/x2 and with Power Attack and all that, his crits are going to hurt a heck of a lot more than mine ever would. He should be your prime candidate now.

Ain't that the truth. I have a dual-scimitar-wielding dervish (and no, not a Drizz't wannabe) that crits often, but it just doesn't have the same satisfaction as my recently-departed greatsword-wielding gnoll had with a normal hit -- and if he critted, OMG!
The dervish does more damage per round (I've done the averages), but he attacks six times per round while the gnoll was only getting two attacks. It's just not fair. ;-)

Ain't that the truth. In that last fight (while we were still in spoilers), LB did 85 points of damage to a gnoll in one hit on a crit (smiting evil).

Has anyone seen this film ‘Sauna’? I think it’s Finnish, and the original title is ‘Filth’.
One of the guys in my gaming group brought it over to watch on the weekend, figuring it might be good inspiration for Kingmaker. It’s a good (if weird and creepy-tense) movie. The landscapes, environment, cultural background and even to some extent the storyline may indeed provide a good inspiration or ‘feel’ for a Kingmaker campaign.

It’s been ok so far. Just some intermittent showers. House is boarded up and supplies have been bought.
I don’t expect the hurricane to hit us since its tracking to the south of us toward the Mexican state of Tamaulipas but the rain bands and winds tend to be heaviest north of the eye. So we should see something.

Thought you guys might enjoy this:
When you push play it opens a new tab which is an ad. Ignore that or close it immediately and then push play again on the video.
Nice one Ithers. I never really got that into the IT Crowd, but I hadn't seen this one, good episode.
Eiffel Tower!

I probably should have revealed that I posted this one for you guys because Moss runs a D&D session in the middle of the episode.
Glad you like it Mothman. It wasn't one of the stronger episodes, but it had the gaming so that = bonus points. Have you see the one where they convince Jen that the internet resides in a tiny black box with a blinking red light? That one is sooo good.
We kind of love Richard Ayoade (Moss) and Matt Berry (the boss). We've been watching basically anything they've been in. Nathan Barley was another favorite with them, also Garth Merenghi's Darkplace, and Man to Man with Dean Learner. Not for everyone, but it makes us laugh. :)
One of the first scenes from Nathan Barley. (only 37 seconds long here)

thanx! We did the fireworks thing today.
It's been raining a lot. we got drenched.
It's weird for Texas; Hurricane did this; I don't care because walking around wet for a couple hours beats the shit out of walking around in 100 degrees for a coupela hours.

Yeah, long weekend for a lot of folks -- extra hours with overtime pay for a lot of others -- extra hours at normal pay for the new guys in a lot of companies. Pretty much everyone I saw yesterday that I wished a happy holiday to indicated that they were working the whole weekend because those with the seniority to have vacation were using it, so all the newbies were keeping the stores open.
Maybe it will teach them to appreciate it when they've earned it. Maybe not.
Hoping everyone has a safe and sane weekend.
I've stopped spending my money on fireworks long ago -- our community has a pretty cool 30-minute display as part of a local festival that we can see for free, so our family comes to visit and ooh and aah with us. It's kind of become our holiday, I guess. The rest of the year, we go to see them.

Moth>> Yeah started to do that yesterday, but I was indecisive about my options. Then we had the cook out and I was toasty for the rest of the day (as has been known to happen when you start drinking from noon). I'm on it though. Heading over there now.
No worries mate, just wasn't sure if you saw you had an AoO and missed that it was your turn also.
Hey, sounds like a good day!

So, I managed to get a job... for 7 days. Then they laid me off because they didn't need the position anymore. I'm so tired of getting screwed at every turn. So, I've decided to do something about it. The next few weeks should be exciting, but I doubt it's going to interfere with my posting. :D
