DM Aron Marczylo |
"Thank you Tymora for the fortunes you bring and for never making me drink 'dark nectar.'"
Yeah, just reapply her next attack to a zombie--preferably, one adjacent to another one so it takes the splash damage.
The zombie that was already hurt from Kyras's bomb now get's drenched in holy water, burning it's rotten flesh as it then crumbles to the floor. 3 more undead are in the room.
DM Aron Marczylo |
Just want to double check on if these are the final position that Mal and Whisper want to be in? I moved Mal so that he did a 5ft step and stabbed the zombie, then whisper moved where he was and hit the nearest undead with holy water.
Kyras Quinta |
Watching with a distant interest as the undead dissolve under the holy water Kyras can't help but wonder at the alchemical coppostition of the undead and their reaction to the blessed water.
Snapping out of his reverie at the sound of a moan he quickly pulls out his crossbow and aims it at the closest zombie and pulls the trigger.

Round 3
'Beware the ghoul's...,' Badger begins to say as he sees the ghoul crumple and fizz away. 'ah, I'll tell ya later.
'The zombies that now face us. Swords and axes work best as other weapons do little to slow the creatures down.'
Held action. Waiting for the zombies to get within 10' of the people guarding the door. When the zombies get close enough, Badger will move to within 25' of them and cast 'Disrupt Undead' spell.
Ride Check to cast and ride DC 10 with mil saddle 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17

Whisper Blueflame |
By my accounting, Whisper should be 2 squares to the right and 1 square down. However, at this point it doesn't make much of a difference. I will hold posting my Round 3 action until Solari has gone. If this happens overnight (it's 9:23 here) and you need her to act, then have Whisper draw her rapier and enter melee with the nearest zombie. Want to save my other 2 flasks of holy water for later
Solaria Jesari |
Can you move Solari forward 1 south, 3 east for the 2nd round and she will reload her crossbow as her 2nd round action, rather than the summoning.Cos I think you want to play the new rules.
DM Aron Marczylo |
Round 3
Initiative:
TzeTing
Kyras (because he delayed to go after TzeTing)
Badger+Dogs
Malstei
Solaria
Whisper
Zombies
The zombies mill around and move up to the group, however due to their fragile state all they manage to do it move right up next to a few people and nothing else.

Round 3
Initiative:
TzeTing
Kyras (because he delayed to go after TzeTing)
Badger+Dogs
Malstei
Solaria
Whisper
Zombies
Zombies last action was to move up close to everyone and due to their fragile state, they were unable to attack and simply stand there, seering. No life sparks in those eyes and you can even seen freshly dried blood on their lips from last night.
Edited Map
Since Whisper stepped forward to combat the frist undead they are piling her, though only 2 get attacks.
Attacks:
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
1d6 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
1d6 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Both undead hidiously knock whisper to the ground, knocking her down. Normally these creatures would feed, however their last command was to kill everyone and thinking the tiefling was dead, they began to look at the group with hungry eyes.
By my count you're at -9, yowch. Reason why auto max at start is a good thing otherwise it would've been worse. I'll roll a stabalise for you just to keep things tense. Don't worry too much though, I'm sure you'll be okey.
TzeTing |
TzeTing watches as Whisper hits the deck, he brings his head high in a menacing pose and moves forward 20ft towards the undead. This brings him into range of one of the undead, so he brings his head down, his maw still bloody and dripping from biting the ghoul.
Attack 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
Damage 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Solaria Jesari |
Solaria hearing the crumbling statue behind her, turns around crossbow at the ready, tensed in the horror of the happenings in this dreadful place. She slowly moves backwards towards the doors, ending up just inside the chamber, but watching the group's back, should anything materialize out of the remains of the statue.
Ends up 1 space east of where TzeTing started the round.
Malstei Alenuath |
Round 3
Seeing Whisper go down Mal charges forward and slashes at the Zombie to Whisper's left. Mal is not sure if they will descend upon Whisper and does not want to find out the hard way.
Melee Attack - 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11

1d20 - 7 ⇒ (20) - 7 = 13 VS DC10
You stabalised at -9. Phew. Didn't want to be a PC killer.
The undead move close to the two team members who are engaged with them in Mellee.
Attack:
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Damage:
1d6 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
First one hits Milstei but the other flails it's arms as Mal dodges it's attack and the final one strikes at the summoned creature, but completely misses as it's snake head ducks quickly to avoid the creature.
TzeTing |
TzeTing changes his point of attack from the undead diagonally away from him, to the one immediately in front of him which tried to strike him. Hissing wildly at the undead, he raises his head and gaining the undead's attention as his tail swings round viscously, then plunges his open mouth down to bite.
Attack bite 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Attack Tail Slap 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (7) - 2 = 5

Crit Confirm bite 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
Crit Damage bite 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Solaria Jesari |
The faling statue was a false alarm, so Solaria turns round and sees TzeTing and Mal in combat with undead. She immediately lifts the loaded crossbow to take aim at the undead in combat (with TzeTing, then with Mal, then any other) and fires a bolt.
attack x-bow 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21 (need to deduct 4 for firing into melee)

Ooops, sorry forgot that in my excitement of getting a 20.
Whisper Blueflame |
Undead are not immune to critical hits in Pathfinder, unless they are incorporeal. Undead can also be sneak attacked (unless they are incorporeal). Only creatures usually immune to crits and sneak attack are plants, oozes, and elementals, IIRC. I apologize for... well, not rules lawyering, because I don't care that much, but being the rules pedant.
Whisper has dreams of vengeance against the undead on her turn.

Yeah I thought that changed. Too much time doing 3.5 rules IRL I guess. But yeah, I remember that change about sneak attacks yet crits are so rare for me it's easy to forget these. Also you don't need to apologise. This is my first time DMing so I'm open to learning the rules and having them scribed into my head.
The summoned creature, TzeTing had streached up, biting the undead's neck and tearing out the throat as the creature then falls to the floor, once again lifeless.

Round 4
Move up on Victor to the lower side of map doorway. That should put me within 25' of Whisper. Badger will expend one of his rounds of his domain Speak with Animals ability to order Fox and Hunter to block the doorway on the inside of the doorway and just ahead of Badger on Victor. They'll adopt defensive fighting posture.
Action will be to cast the spell Stabilize on Whisper with Range 25'
Ride check to move and cast need DC 10 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
Badger sees Whisper rush forward and he shouts out as he rides forward, 'Whisper!'
Dang it! I have ride 6, military saddle for +2 and I still manage to fail the DC 10. :< Well, I guess next round I'll have to try to Stabilize when my spell won't be spoiled by moving.
Malstei Alenuath |
Malstei continues to attack the undead foe that struck him. "They move slow but they certainly strike hard!"
Melee Attack - 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Melee Damage - 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
I guess I will get a 13 on the next attack :-)

Don't you add your Dex too? That'll be another +2. Plus if it's a class skill a extra +3 from being a class skill, but I don't think it is so just the dex is probably missing.

Unfortunately, my Dex is already in my +6. 1 Rank + 3 for Class Skill + 2 Dex Bonus = +6 for Ride. +2 Situation Modifier for Military Saddle is +8. A roll of 1 is still a total of 9 which is less than the DC. Badger had a 95% chance of success and he still 'Storked it'. That's okay, I'm used to it. he he.

Yeah I did terrible rolls not long ago. I didn't get above 5 on the dice roll. Was a real pain cause I had a huge elemental trying to punch a iron golem which would be +17 however the Golem had AC 28. Should've had a good chance at hitting but as I said, didn't roll above 5 not to mention failed my fort save.

The undead attack Mal again, attempting to take him down like they did the Tiefling. They swing their arms in they're typical clumbsy way.

Malstei - Down
Solaria
Whisper - Down
Zombies
Okey well unfortunatly two are down, Badger still had his dogs and TzeTing appears to have been making a feast out of these creatures.
Badger Woods |
My ride on round 4 should put Badger on the map, one 5' square in front of Solari (lower side of double doors). The dogs Fox and Hunter should be formed side by side in front of that (10' from Kyras and Solari).
I checked, Mal has a Con of 10 which means -11 is Ouch! I can't fix that.
DM Aron Marczylo |
That puts Mal at -11, I think he's dead Jim.
Thought he had 11 hit points?

Ahh, but your character doesn't know it. All he saw was what the other's saw, two undead smacking him about and knocking him to the floor with a powerful blow.
Solaria Jesari |
Round 5
Just a question, if the zombies only have a normal reach of 5ft, then can both the currently standing zombies both attack Mal, I thought only one could attack Mal, the other has to attack TzeTing at a diagonal and not through the other undead.
When it get to Solaria's turn
Solaria seeing her TzeTing alone against the undead, cries "Please come help my TzeTing against these beasts. Black slippery oils of the ground spill for me." With that a stream of black liquid flies forth from her hand and spills under the undead.
Solaria casts grease under both Zombies, DC=16

It was the one directly infront of the summoned creature you hit with the attack, wasn't it?
Solaria Jesari |
TzeTing attacked the zombie directly north of him.
Solaria's Grease spell is 10ft square taking in both Zombies and the 2 squares north of them.
Umm, just thought that the 1st zombie has moved through a square threatened by TzeTing (the diagonal one NE, currently occupied by zombie 2), so TzeTing may have an attack of opportunity.
A Ranger with a Con of 10, can start the game with 11 hit points, if he takes 1 HP for his favored class, rather than taking a skill point for his favored class. Not sure if that makes any difference to Mal.
Kyras Quinta |
'Oh boy.' Kyras sighs inwardly as he ponders chucking another bomb at the undead. Analizing the grounds before he decides not to as he would rather not burn his 'friends' or that monstrous snake. Opting instead to continue with his only other sane option he reloads his crossbow, aims and fires.

Round 5
Yup, I know that I don't know the status of Mal and will consider him alive till proven elsewise. Whisper went down first so he's the priority to heal.
Badger riding Victor leads Fox and Hunter around to attack the pair of zombies from the flank.
From the door the dogs have move of 40'. We'll first go up on the map and then turn into the temple to ride to the point of the zombies and then pull to a stop with an order of Fox, Victor, and Hunter. Fox should be above the zombie and flanked with TzeTing. The next further into the temple should be Victor above the second zombie. Hunter will be the furthest into the temple and again flanked with TzeTing and the second zombie. The ride up, in, and down in a hook is to avoid attacks of opportunity.
While riding Victor, Badger again tries to remember the holy words his mentor taught him to save a life.

The only zombie directly north of him is where Mal was and where the Zombie moved after it's attack.Unless you mean he attacked the one NE of the creature?

Remember Mal took 6 damage the previous round plus 17 this round for a total of 23 so actually he is at -12. The life of an adventurer is not for the faint of heart!

DM Aron Marczylo |
Badger's dogs tear into the last undead relentlessly, bringing it to the ground and tearing into it until it stops moving. Silence falls upon the area and now that you are less tense you all have a feeling of welcome here as if you just arrived back home. Something familiar and yet alien about this place.
As the map will show there's various points, The Grey block is meant to be the alter, covered in dried blood, steps leading downstairs and two sets of double doors you have not yet entered. It's also assuming that everyone likes to step in and enter.
Badger Woods |
Badger speaks words of a holy prayer to help save Mal's life.
Cast Stabilize on Mal. Will work with others on healing for Whisper and Mal. I have 4 scrolls that I can cast of cure light wounds if needed. Anyone else with scrolls or potions? I think Mal said that he stuffed his pockets with some potions so you might start with those 8 potions < Mal, if you want to roll for your own potions then go for it and just let me know how many you had me shove down your throat. hehe >
'Solaria can you have TzeTing guard the top of the stairs? We should also do something to guard or block the double doors. When I am done tending to Whisper and Mal then I can put my hounds there.'
Solaria Jesari |
Solaria's tense muscles calm, now the battle is won, but at what cost. Mal and Whisper had seemed a competent adventurers until the zombie swiped their health away. Her whole body shakes as her adrenalin and breathing comes back to normal. After several moments she gathers herself and starts to look around. "Badger, I can't do much to help our injured comrades, I'm gonna take a look round." With that Solaria wanders round the chapel area, looking up and down each aisle and pew for anything of interest.
She takes in the sides of the chapel, before ending at the altar. Once here she waves her hands in patterns in the air, almost magicing colored winds that fly around the chapel, illuminating any magical item.
Perception 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16 from wandering around the chapel and the altar
