Badger Woods wrote:Fox and Hound will delay to Badger's Init unless they are attacked or an orc attempts to melee Badger.
Init 5, Badger will use a free action to pronounce Judgment of Healing. First round this acts as Fast Heal 1.
Free Action spend 1 round from Domain Animal for Speak with Animals to order Fox and Hound to Attack the Orc at the end of the line closest to my starting position.
Fox attack 1d20+2
Fox damage 1d4+1Hunter attack 1d20+2
Hunter damage 1d4+1Badger will ride his mule to follow up the pair but not take an attack this round. Badger wants to use the bushes, trees, and confusion of combat to cover his usage of Ghost Sound (Gnome ability).
I can make the equivalent sound of 4 people. I am going to try for the sound of twanging bow strings combined with some screams of pain and words for Orc of Ambush and epitah Elves. I am hoping to panic the orcs on the flank that I am on. Normal DC is 13 plus 1 for illusions by Gnome makes DC 14 Will Save to believe there might be a couple of additional elves attacking with bows.
So the one south-west of you? okey and not moving the Orcs until Whisper replies since she goes just before they do.
** spoiler omitted **
Been mauling over rules of this spell andit seems to have gotten much better than 3.5 version. Almost too good says a friend of mine
So anyway they they all appear to notice the sound and start trying to take cover from the sound besides the one Orc on the other side of the ridge who can tell there is something wrong with the sound, but he assumes the others can see it and takes cover. The leader too seems to have been distracted by the sound and is unsure what to do.
Still wating for whisper's action before the Orcs take their action, due to initiative order.

Round 2
Whisper attempts to tumble off the cart to flank the fox nearest the horse (Acrobatics: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11).
If she managed to land upright, she will take a swing at the fox.
Attack, incl. flanking bonus: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
If hit, damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5 plus sneak attack 1d6 ⇒ 4
If she fell, she will pick herself up, cursing in a language it is best not to try to translate. (second move action to stand up, provoking an AOO)
Sorry, I am posting from Eastern Time, and online at different times of the day. GM may bot me if I am unable to get on.

Whisper attempts to tumble off the cart to flank the fox nearest the horse (Acrobatics: 1d20+6).

If hit, damage: 1d6+2 plus sneak attack 1d6If she fell, she will pick herself up, cursing in a language it is best not to try to translate. (second move action to stand up, provoking an AOO)
Sorry, I am posting from Eastern Time, and online at different times of the day. GM may bot me if I am unable to get on.
Fox is the guard dog that the Gnome owns. It's actually the name of the Dog, so you might want to rethink the attack, but you failed the tumble check anyway.
The Orc leader runs past the Tiefling, far more interested in trying to get the elf, provoking an attack of oppitunity from the Tiefling who takes that chance:
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
Narrowly missing the large orc in it's Scalemail.
The Orc leader swings his axe towards Malstei:
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
Hitting him squarly and dealing:
1d12 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
Orc vs Whisper
1d20 - 3 ⇒ (7) - 3 = 4
Orcs vs Badger
1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20
1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Orcs vs Malthier and Whisper
1d20 - 3 ⇒ (8) - 3 = 5
1d20 - 3 ⇒ (18) - 3 = 15
1d20 - 3 ⇒ (6) - 3 = 3
Roaring with pleasure as he manages to swat at this elf and landing the axe hard in the chest. He growls in a smirk, loving the feel of the axe having landed into the elf's chest and enjoying the dripping of blood.
The Orcs throw their Javalins and many of them miss and here's the outcum.
Badger is hit for: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
One of the four Javalins aimed at Whisper hit dealing 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
But the other three are such terrible misses that they hit their leader dealing:
1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
The Orc leader Roars in rage as he was hit by his own men so many times and he screams in absolute rage. The wounds that were delt to him looked mortal but he is still standing.
First I fear that the group is going to die and now with those horrible damage roles I fear everything might've gotten far too easy now.

Sorry. Following this was a bit confusing, and I skipped past some of the action in a hurry. Can folks please wait to post on their turn? I know it slows things down but it will make things a lot easier to follow. Most of the PBPs I've played it in do it that way. I can understand if not, but it would be much appreciated.
Since she spent a full turn getting off the wagon, she'll have to get after the orcs on Round 3

Winching as he sees the axe thud into Malstei Kyras feel angry toward the orc's and the cowardly trader. By no means suicidal and knowing full well the power of his bombs he opts to pull out his crossbow and takes a pop shot at the orc leaders back rather than blowing up everyone.

Won't have to. Due to the square you ended up in you got to try to stab the leader and you're effectively flanking him is Malthei is able to get a weapon out.

1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17
2d6 + 2 ⇒ (4, 6) + 2 = 12
With that final blow from the Whisper, she stabs the blade straight through his back with the blade coming out the chest, spreying blood over the elf ranger and twisting the blade as she removes her short sword, watching the body fall and her blades drip in blood. The nearest living Orc cried out something.

I'm here, man. When I said "bot me in case I don't show up" I meant like in a matter of several hours. The new round post was up just an hour ago!
Whisper actually had drawn a dagger into her off hand (the rationale being in case she wanted to throw a dagger rather than enter melee) so the damage should be 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3 plus the sneak attack you rolled.

sorry didn't know you were still around. Perhaps we should say a ooc when we're leaving. Heh...sorry I'm new to DMing and VERY new to PBP so far I think I've done pretty crappy job. Also it says on your profile TWF was short sword and short sword not short sword and dagger so I was confused.
Whisper Blueflame
Don't put yourself down, man -- GMing is hard, and PbP brings its own bucket of challenges. You're doing fine. You've got a great story hook and a lot of people on board. You're running an NPC and a lot of enemies and you're tracking it all very well.
All I might note is-- Play-by-Post is not Play-by-Chat. Your post rate is fast and furious and that's great--but some people are not going to be able to keep up with that. If you expect a very fast rate, it's important to be clear about that. You said "once a day, maybe more" -- some people may do that "once a day" and stick with it unless you say otherwise.
I'm usually at work or at home doing other things, so while I check the threads often, I am not checking constantly and am unable to do so. If you need a faster post rate than I'm doing, then I need to bow out. If it's alright then... just relax--people will show up and everything will be fine. :)
I also should have clarified my 'bot rights statement when I said it, so that's not your fault, it's mine. :)
If you prefer this moved to the discussion post, I will do so.

3 potions of cure light wounds, 1 of Bears Endurance, 1 of cure Moderate wounds and finally 2 of Anti-venum. With a grin, Whisper wipes the blood on her sword on a rag hanging off her belt before resheathing it.
"How's the driver?" She asks with concern (about her paycheck), and she peers into the wagon.
You see the driver climbing out, looking in better condition that he was origonally. He observes the area and then scheaths his sword before sitting down back in his seat.
"Wow, ya got 'im." he beems as he looks down at the dead Orc, recognising him since he was the only one with such a huge weapon. "I thought we were all done for. We better get going before they return." he continues to look around, wondering who made it and who didn't if something happened to them.| Kyras Quinta |
Handing one cure light wound potion to Malstei, "Here, chuck that down. It's a healing potion," he continues to sort though the orcs things. Setting his things in three piles, one potion pile, one arms n'armor pile and one coin pile.
"It's some nice stuff gang, and allot of gold too." He says as he gets back up with the axe in his hands. Testing the edge he looks from the axe to the orc and back again, paying for orc head he said. Oh, well... and finally raises the axe over his head and lops of the orcs head.

Those are both 'Trained Only' skills and unfortunately I have no ranks in either skill. I have no clue on further details of who the people the orcs might be meeting or the identity of the War Banner shown by the attacking orcs. I am in the dark until I can try to locate some tracks and try something like Survival or Know Nature to identify.

Oh, okey didn't realise. Well then all you know is the bird tries to describe them to you but since it's interpretation of a language leaves things so vague you are not totally sure what it's trying to describe. Mal nods to Badger, "Thanks for the assist". He turns to Kyras, "I dropped at least one in the woods as well do not forget his head".
Mal looks through the goods to see if there are any arrows that can replace the two that he fired. "If there are prisoners of the Orcs nearby then we should get this caravan to Beregost as soon as possible, then I would like to come back to repay the Orcs for their hospitality, anyone else interested?"
Whisper Blueflame
Whisper turns back to the group, catching on to the discussion. She joins Kyras, counting out an equal share of the coin and swiftly grabbing the potion of bear's endurance and a vial of antivenom from the pile without asking anyone of their opinion of what she should get.
She looks up to see what Kyras is doing. "Hey! I should get that head! I killed him!"
She pauses, adding reluctantly, "I mean, you'll all get your share of the bounty. This was part of the job." But continues in a low hiss, pouting. "But I should still get the head.
She starts following Kyras, prancing delicately through the bloodstained grass. "Did you see that banner? It's not a tribe from around here. Or it's a new one."
Kyras Quinta
Looking up from his gruesome work he looks Wisper up and down before continuing to decapitate the orc with an arrow between his eyes. "Huh? Well, we need to present the head for the bounty. You could always persuade the copers to allow you to keep it if you wish. I personaly can think of no use for it. pausing in thought at his own word, he mumbles to himself. "Wold look nice pickled in a jar though? A good conversation piece I suppose."
"But I know nothing of orc banners, new or old. Better talk to the ranger or the snoop about that one."
Whisper Blueflame
"Eh, I don't need it forever. I just want to make sure... eh, I don't know. Do what you want. Just make sure we get that bounty."
She looks around, keeping an eye out in case any further trouble comes along. "Ya might make some preserving fluid anyway. You seem good at that stuff."
She wanders back toward the wagon, addressing the others. "That banner--you guys seen it before? Because it's not from around here."

The driver looks at him wide eyed when he says this.

'I don't know banners but the regular groups of goblins have been disappearing of late. It would make sense if they were getting swept away or up as part of some new group moving into the area.'
'I agree that we should pay those orcs a visit once we've dealt with the caravan. I don't think they're the ones giving the orders; so, we'll have to decide whether it might be good to just watch them for a few days and find out who those goblinoid people are that keep visiting them.'
Badger takes a moment to wipe sweat from his brow.
'Going a bit slower on dealing with the village will allow us to pick them off by ones and twos and seed some havoc in their ranks. I'm fairly sure I can find some Poison Oak or similar plants. I wouldn't mind tossing a few of those in some fires and letting the smoke drift over the villagers. Rashy skin doesn't sit armour well and keeps people distracted. We might sew a few small pit stake traps and see if we can't hobble a few ankles.'
Whisper Blueflame
Whisper smiles at the driver (and all the more widely because she knows her teeth spook him). "Don't worry, boss. We'll get you off safe. Then we can kit out while we're in town, and set up to do a little bounty hunting."
She addresses Badger as she clambers back to her perch atop the wagon. "If ya know poisonous plants and stuff maybe you should work with Kyras. I bet between you two you'd really come up with something to make the pig-noses itch."
Malstei Alenuath
"Once we get to Beregost we can see if someone there know anything further of this banner as it does not look familiar to me but then we are getting out of the areas I have regularly explored". Mal with his skin tone returned to normal grabs the banner and rolls it up and places it in his backpack. "As far as treasure is concerned, as long as I can buy arrows and a good meal and ale, I will be satisfied". Mal remounts his horse getting ready to move along again.
