Varin Akorr
Well, I suppose I'll go ahead and put Varin up here then.
Statblock is listed on the alias, along with a breakdown of how all of those stats have been obtained. I'll probably have a backstory up at some point, once I figure out how to write it without him seeming quite as obviously evil as he is... :/
Just a few things of note:
-I'm not entirely positive if an insight bonus applies to flat-footed AC? It's only a difference of 1, but still.
-When a class's skills include 'Knowledge (all skills taken individually),' I'm guessing that means they count as class skills once a rank is put into them? It's an easy fix if not, though.
-I haven't tallied up his weight as of yet, but he can carry just under 700 pounds as a light load so... I think he's probably okay on it unless he picks up a truck.
-Edit: Also... I'm pretty sure I recall hearing that reslotting items was allowed? I certainly hope so, cuz I did a fair bit of that.
Any problems anyone sees or questions on something, let me know.
Incidentally, his picture may need to change... I was picturing him with black hair. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any such pictures that seemed to fit him, but I like this one for him now. I suppose his hair can change to go along with this, instead. Hmm.

Nice.
Everything seems in order to me.
Is it really necesarry that we present the builds here like that? You're the GM wich means only your decision counts either way.
My build is kind of a one trick pony and I'm not very comfortable with showcasing it here and ruining the surprise.
BTW how many players do we have now?
Jehova
I agree with Sleet Storm, I'd prefer to be able to keep at least a few things secret, though now someone has already posted a character, so if we switched it they may be at a disadvantage :\
Automatically knowing the opponents' saves, AC, special attacks, etc, seems like it leaves less room for cool, out-there, character concepts that nobody sees coming, because such a build is crippled by the opponents knowing about it, as opposed to AM BARBARIAN, who isn't overly disadvantaged by such things. If we enforce some strict policies about not using out-of-game information within the arena, this is mitigated somewhat, but it's still tempting to target a weak save if you know what it is, or use the opponent's AC to decide whether or not to power attack.
MoG, obviously it's all up to you, I'll have fun either way.

I've got no problem with it either way. I find it just as easy to have the build located here (helps in keeping track of stuff), and I'll more or less trust people not to metagame too much. Even if they do, it won't bother me that much either.
So, yeah, if your build should be sneaky and/or unexpected, don't let the fact that I posted stats bother you. It's no big deal.
That said, @ MotG, if you think I should get rid of any information on there, I'll go ahead and do so.
Master Of The Games
@Darkwolf117: If you want to cut down the information feel free.
If I was Perticipating I would just put the basics and add in the information as I used it.
Also if you wish I am prepping a campaign to run once this is concluded. If you wish to switch to it you will gain bonuses.
[PEACH]Academie Campaign Guide Thread
Once I get the Guide complete I will open the Recruitment Thread for that Campaign. It will have 24 Slots for Players. Each Player will get 5 Character Slots.

So should we not have things like AC and Saves listed? That seems like something that would be smart to have readily available.
Perhaps it would actually be easier to just ask: What should be visible?
-Ability Scores?
-Defenses? (AC, Saves, Immunities or any other special things)
-Attacks? (Melee, Ranged, Special)
-Any other special abilities?
-Skills?
-Feats?
-Gear?
-Spells?
Like I said, it honestly doesn't matter that much to me (I might rather just leave it up there tbh), but a quick rundown on what should or should not be visible would be appreciated.
Darkwolf117
Well, honestly, I think I'm fine with leaving what I've got up there as is. In most cases, I doubt it'll make a huge difference in how anything actually plays out in the game. And if it does, again, not too big a deal.
The Academie Campaign is very Player Oriented.
What exactly does player-oriented mean :?
Master Of The Games
And they can't majorly change their characters anyway.
I feel obligated to clarify that the AotG Transfer means you lose your slot here but gain the bonuses for that campaign.
Also the whole thought on that campaign is to allow people to build characters they might not play otherwise. Mainly do to them being able to pick their Missions and such.

There is something to be said for having multiple pairs of eyes looking at each character in advance, rather than being halfway through the arena and having to go "Wait, how did you just do that?" I've been in that situation before (as the asker), and it wasn't fun. It wasn't that I really believed that he had miscalculated, but I needed to assure myself that all the damage was, in fact, legitimate, since it was such a close line between surviving (and probably winning) and death.
Plus, there's the learning experience afterwards of going "Wow, I didn't know that's possible, how did you do it so I can use it?"
That all being said, I'm fine either way, so long as all the sheets are visible after the fact, and people are willing to explain their numbers when questioned during.
Basically, I don't feel any need to know what people can do, but I'm going to want to know how they did it, once they have. Especially with 20th level builds.

Master Of The Games wrote:I feel obligated to clarify that the AotG Transfer means you lose your slot here but gain the bonuses for that campaign.Oh, did you mean actually transferring a character from here to that campaign? I'm a little confused now.
I mean giving up your slot here in favor of the bonuses in that campaign for your first character and some hidden bonuses for every character you make.

Interesting. But I'm still looking forward to this so far, so I don't plan on skipping out. I see the bonuses for transfers now, but I think I'd like to see how this plays out :)
Assuming we're still free to join the Academie as normal though? (Provided slots aren't full, of course.)

Rumples, reporting for duty. Also, wow, looking at Varin's item list, Craft Wondrous items appears to be the most powerful feat available. It's possible that that will be mitigated somewhat by running into low/no magic zones, though.
Also, MoG, perhaps it would be a good idea to find some third party to check over the characters? I know what Bobson is talking about, and I would very much like to know if there's a problem with my character up front, so it's not a nasty surprise later. I think everyone has an investment in making sure we absolutely know each character is legit, so that if/when we encounter something crazy and surprising, we say 'Woah, nicely done', instead of crying foul.

Well, when you got 880,000 gold pieces to spend...
Craft Wondrous is pretty badass though. As for running into an antimagic zone, well, I think I'd be pretty unhappy in that situation regardless. I'd think most characters would be pretty unhappy in that situation, actually. I'd figure I'm not the only one with magic items.

I'm sure almost everyone would be unhappy, but some characters would be more unhappy than others. For instance, an AMZ will lower my defenses by a good chunk (and make me have to pick up a lot of ioun stones from the ground) but it won't have a huge effect on my damage output. They're also pretty easy to get out of, unless it's a whole zone and not just the field from the spell.
Speaking of which... MoG - you should figure out what the rules for making attacks into an AMF from outside and making them out from inside are. Do you get the attack bonus from your magic sword if it starts the swing inside the field? What if it has to enter the field to connect? Does a magic arrow shot into the field lose attack bonus? Or does one that's shot from a suppressed bow suddenly get more accurate when it leaves? What about reach attacks in or out? Magically enhanced natural weapons?
And yes, craft Wondrous is well worth the two feats and skill ranks. I bought all the wondrous items I could possibly think of finding a use for, and still had more than 250k left over for weapons, armor, consumables, rings, etc.
Master Of The Games
If you are outside the Field you gain the Attack Bonus. If the target is inside the field it loses the Damage Bonus.
If you are inside the field you lose the Attack Bonus. If the Target is outside the field you gain the Damage Bonus.
Exceptions: If it is a Magic Bow doesn't gain the Magic Bonuses when you are firing it inside the field. A Magic Arrow Fired inside a AMF doesn't get the attack bonus but still gets the Damage bonus if the target is outside the AMF.
But as I said a AMF might not effect everything.

Bah, alright, I suppose I'll toss all the BB code in a notepad and just put up the stats for now.
You know, stop bein' a rebel and all. Get back in line with the pack. Just be one of the sheeple. Good ol' conformity.
Okay, I'll stop rambling. At any rate, I'll hide the rest of the build, and just put it back up once the game starts or something. Funny enough though, my stats breakdown requires that I point out part of my classes anyway.
Darkwolf117
Well, 8 is not too bad a number, though for some reason I was under the impression we had a bit more than that. Huh.
Judging from the people that have joined in though, I doubt we'll be falling to 3 at this rate (barring unforeseen circumstances, I suppose). Seems like the people that are in are pretty well in.
Diajoubu, the Ok
2 people marked this as a favorite.
Here's my alias.
Background: Diajoubu the Ok was raised in Xa Hoi, where he was a huntsman of fair skill. Little did he know, that his GM awarded experience for encounters lower than below his CR-3 and automatically gave WPL stuff to you whenever you leveled up, and one fateful day, his experience was tallied(I expect a decimal place got moved somewhere, or that's a LOT of deer), and the commoner jumped to a fully equipped warrior of incredible powers in the form of some esoteric deities' blessing. Daijoubu is pretty much at a loss of how to deal with his sudden near-demigod level status.
Tactics: Included in his statblock.
Personality: Diajoubu the Ok is still very stunned by his ascent to power. What does a normal, humble halfling who values community and family do when he is empowered with magical artifacts and the skill of a warrior who could conquer nations? Since then, Balors, Nightwaves, and other level appropriate nonsense have dropped out of the sky to plague his community. Thus, Diajoubu has entered this tournament in hopes of finding a way to return his bizarre gift of power so that he can go home without being followed by super-powerful monsters. The most he wants to have to do with this whole affair is maybe have a book ghost-written for himself after he's done.
This is my comedic style background-personality. If you'd like one of more epic/seriousness, just say the word and I'll change it up.
Bobson
Yeah, Thank Shelyn.
Also my frakking computer deleted the Finalized Map. So we are falling back to my initial Over-World Style Map. And larger more Open Terrain.
It is annoying...
If you're on Windows 7, try accessing Previous Versions to recover it?

Thank you!

Personally, I want to be surprised and blindsided by the combos people pull off. I wonder, will we see a RageLance Barbarian? Maybe a Mystic Theurge from Ravingdork? (just my guess there, based off of the fact that he seemed to really like those guys in his character emporium) Fifty-thousand invisible rogues waiting for each other to de-cloak so they can attack without compromising their defenses?
