Coca Cola |
"Watch this fellas."
<Coca pulls an apple out of his backpack and walks away. Everyone wonders what the hell he's doing. He walks down the road and disappears. After a while anyone with good eyes sees him climbing a hill about 3/4 of a mile away. He sets the apple on a stump. He walks back, sets up Nixon and lays down, peering through the scope.>
"I'm gunna bring da appo back to yous Billy-Ray. In one piece."
"Yous gonna miss agin Coca," someone shouts from the window on the second floor of the saloon.
<He lays there a few seconds, plays with the scope, stops breathing, and then draws the trigger back.>
BOOOOM!
50 cal, damage: (1d20 10=30, 2d12=7)
confirm, damage: (1d20 10=26, 2d12=19)
<The stump explodes. Coca jumps up, walks off again, disappears, reappears on the hill, climbs the hill, picks something up, walks back, and after finally getting back to the porch, hands Billy-Ray the apple.>
"Enjoy."
That was real. Me and Invisible Castle have an understanding.

can I have a wolf or dog the size of a horse ;D...oh or a cat named skipp the size of a horse...with horns and...stripped, or something or better yet...can I have an owlbear as a mount?
LOL I missed this post earlier. LMAO go nuts Seeker, design whatever pets you want, but like stated before, mounts don't get no frackin' lasers or telekenesis or built in machine guns. Just plain ol' mutational weirdness.

Noratom's local sundries store, Walmert's is on Main Street a few blocks down from Breeanson's Gunsmithy. A river stone and clapboard affair, the gothic peaks of this Noratom landmark have been here since before even the Golden Age. Walmert, the robot that runs the store, is a few RAM shy of a motherboard, but a good little guy none the less.

I think I'll make B-R's last feat 'Far Shot'. Not that I mind, but his friends might prefer if his range increment for a grenade at least equaled its blast radius.
Just to make it interesting, I think his standard throwing weapon will be rocks the same size as the grenades (1 lb). Makes for more interesting fumbles.
1 lb rock = treat as dart but blunt?
1 lb rock = treat as small throwing club?
1 lb rock = hopefully not considered an improvised weapon with the -4 on attacks as the rules list. May be select rocks or metal nuts left from ancient days as a simple or archaic weapon? (Ooo- throwing nuts at people sounds dirty!)

Since B-R not good with guns, I'd like to trade the AK and ammo/clips in for 5 more grenades.
Also as B-R is a primitive, he doesn't need much expensive stuff- Ifn's yall wan' him to be buyin' group stuff- jes spout owt idears. Otherwise, he stocking up on food and grenades.
Compass is worth it- gives a plus two on Navigate checks.

OK, looks like we are getting closer to start. A vest would be 2 GP Billy-Ray, they are available. There are other higher-tech armor options later in the game, but you would have to get to the Happy Valley to avail yourself of them. Also the laser cannons; high-tech is squarely in OMNUS' demense.
Just a munchkin joke.

Actually I was refering to the 'mesh vest' on page 119 (modern), under survival gear. It 'provides a +2 equiptment bonus to strength for the purpose of determining your carrying capacity' and can 'hold up to 40 lbs of equiptment'. B-R doesn't wear know about wearing armor yet- he thinks its some kind of odd fasion trend. But the vest pretty much gives free carrying weight and B-R wants to be able to carry his roks and metl egs (in seperate pockets) on him. The backpack is for food.

I'll look that up today Niel. For now, another list of useables culled from D20 Apocalypse and repurposed:
New goods prices:
Ammunition Kit: 2 GP
Can Opener (church key) 1 NC
Candle (beeswax): 2 NC
Cigarette(Zippo-style) lighter: 15 NC
Bottle of lighter fluid: 3 NC (good for 10 refills)
Electrical generator (ethanol based): 10 GP
HVCS Type 4 Portable Electrical generator (runs on bio-waste converted directly into fuel): 150 GP
Small Ethanol Still: 10 GP
Large Ethanol Still: 25 GP
Saddle and tack for a regular mount: 3 GP … larger mounts multiply by size difference to a regular mount.
Shell casings (10): 3 NC
Note: Most technologically simple items are made locally in the Berksh region. Breaanson the Town Boss/ Gunsmith has a good reputation throughout the Principalities of Appalachee for his gunsmithing.
The electrical generators, hand cranked flashlights, and Zippos are the province of the local tinker Hamilton “Ham” Froggerman. Ham and his family got the last name ‘Froggerman’ from a mutational strain in their pedigree that produces bulging eyes and long sticky fingers (which makes him a good tinker, never drops a tool!).
Most ethanol comes from a big still which also amkes most of the likker in the town. Grurumph runs it, on his apiary farmstead up valley north of town. Gurumph is an anthropomorphic bear mutant, who is good-natured until he gets a snort of corn likker in him. He brews one of the most delicious post-apocalyptic beverages, Appalachee Honeymead, as well as moonshine and ethanol.
Anything “sci-fi” is either salvaged or created by the Happy Valley Collectivist State. The HVCS deals in simple gadgets mostly, and will sell hand weapons to folks outside the valley, but not anything larger. Many folks have a dread of high-tech items (a hangover from the Final Wars), one reason the electronic gadgets haven't pushed the local crafters out of business.

Niel, looked up the mesh vest. Looks like it is just a phootog-style vest, so I'd say you could get one tailored for about 25 NC. I am running through a few things, but hopefully we can start up soon. Life is kinda in high gear for me, but I hope to keep posting at least once a day, even if it does have to be pre-dawn, lol.
Billy-Ray |
Gear list amended to include vest (and tools). Do we still need to pay for saddle and tack, or does it come with the mounts?
Billy-Ray stashes his t'rowin egs in da oter pokets o' his leather vest. ('is Ma made it fo' him a whyle bak- rite afta Pappy punished 'im for lettin 'is sistr get et. An wen Pappy say 'tan yer hide' he ain't foolin.)
"Hey yall, lok at dis. I gots me a reel shovel frum down ta Walmert's. No mor digin privy holes wit a stik fo me. Who-hee, Ahm a rich ole boy."

Just thinking - Billy-Ray's pretty obvious, but as we've all maxed out our mutation points, do any of us look like overt mutants? I was thinking that Roach, with his Scent ability and hypercharged senses, looks like a Pure Strain human, but he has a habit of 'tasting' the air and does a lot of sniffing and blinking. Most normal people don't act that way...

Coca Cola just has a few psionic powers, so he can pass, but a genetic test would blow his cover.

Being the rabid racists that the Wreckers are, they have a few tricks to uncovering 'Muties'
1: Mutie Dogs: These Staffordshire Terrier descendants have been trained to 'sniff' out mutations and attack those who smell wrong. While this is far from 100%, your mutations have to be pretty minor to escape. It seems the human endocrine/pheremone system is easily mutated off base.
2. Blood tests: The only hi-tech the Wreckers allow is medical, and that mostly for DNA testing. They are so paranoid about 'secret muties' that their hatred of hi-technology doesn't cover medical scannings. Now armies in the field don't have a lot of medical scanning gear, but if you are caught and profess Pure Strain pedigree, it is almost a fait accompli that you will be held over to one of the Wrecker's hospitals in the rear of the army.
3. If you ain't Rectified, you ain't right: This is just good old-fashioned predjudice. While the Wreckers don't kill folks out of hand wholesale, anyone ... Pure Strain or no ... who lives in their area of occupation and was not raised in the loving arms of the Rectified church is forever going to be a second-class citizen.
Oh and by the way, the Wreckers will spare your life if you are a 'mutie' and you volunteer for sterilization. Of course, then you face a life filled with predjudice and hate, but some have done it.

Just make it all up. Long range combat is a breeze.
