I'm looking for 5-6 player's, who are scoundrels at heart, who want to join in an adventure on the high seas.
The Rules:
• Races: All standard races from the Pathfinder Core Rulebook will be allowed. Any other 0HD race will be considered on a case by case basis.
• Classes: All classes (Base and Prestige) and Archetypes from Paizo Publishing will be allowed. 3.5 or 3PP classes/archetypes will have to be approved by me prior to acceptance.
• Alignment: Characters can be of any alignment, but must be able to play well with others.
• Abilities: Characters will be based on the High Fantasy (20 point) buy, found in the PFRPG Core Rulebook on page 16. No ability can be raised higher than 18 (prior to racial modifiers). Only one ability may be lowered below 10 and that ability cannot be lowered below 8 (prior to racial modifiers).
• Feats: Any feat published by Paizo Publishing will be acceptable. Any 3.5 or 3PP material you wish to use will have to be approved by me prior to acceptance.
• Traits: Character's will start with two traits, one of which MUST be from the Skulls & Shackles Player's Guide.
• Hit Points: Characters will start out with Maximum hit points for their class at 1st level. Thereafter players may either roll for HP's or take the average (whichever is greater).
• Starting Gold: Characters will start with Maximum starting gold for their base class as found in the PFRPG Core Rulebook on page 140, the APG on page 26, UC on page 8, or in the UM on page 8.
Recruitment will close at 6:00 pm. (CDT) on Friday, September 27th.
Please feel free to PM me with any questions you may have.

I've got a question... Would you allow the Scarred Witch Doctor, normally Orc only, to function for Half-orcs as well? The ARG states that racial archetypes can work fine with half-races as well, but only if the GM permits it.
I've got a fun character concept built around that, but if you don't want to allow it, then I have a back-up as well.

Yes, the Scarred Witch Doctor will work with Half orcs as well.
Let me clear up something regarding exotic races. While I don't want to limit anyone's creativity I do have a bias toward the more standard races. If two characters are mechanically similar I will tend to choose the standard race over the more exotic one. That being said, I do recognize this bias and tend to compensate for it. So feel free to post your builds as you see fit.

*nods* I might try and post up a character on this. Would my familiarity with this AP be something you'd dislike?
I've only played through the game once, and only from a later point in the game.
My character was introduced at the party that preceded The Eel, the halfling alchemist, and the attack on the harbor. I played all the way from then onwards to the finish of the AP.

Thinking I might try a buccaneer archetype gunslinger. I am wondering, though, about the starting weapon. I know it says you start with either a blunderbuss, musket, or pistol. Is the pistol just a plain pistol? Or can it be a dragon pistol? :)
Regardless, I'm very much interested in this. :) Yay! It'll be my first chance to play a gunslinger in a setting that fits for one.

Would you allow the Force Adept Magus Arcana from Rite Publishing, it's an arcana that expands the Spellblade archtype via adding telekinetic abilities which considering that the spellblade is about manipulating force makes sense.

"Did somebody call for a doctor?" the lean man with short brown hair asks. "Well, I'm close enough as makes no matter." He pulls a saw from his belt. "Daddy was a carpenter. Out here on the high seas, it's my job to keep you alive. I'm no physician but I'm the best hope you've got."

Here's my submission! Hope you enjoy it!

I built this character for a homebrew pirate game that went under. Revived for her a Skull & Shackles game on these boards that went under, as well. I can't remember what her point-buy is off the top of my head, but I'll check her when I get home tonight. Crunch-wise, she's a musket master gunslinger focused on heavy ranged support and high-dex hijinks. Fluff-wise, she's a disillusioned mercenary who only looks forward to one night stands and her next bottle of rum. Let me know what you think.
| Reijo Ilvonen |
At the Formidably Maid, a fairly inebriated man looks over the other seaworthy patrons as he takes another swig of rum. In a gruff, slurred voice, he mutters aloud to himself, "Arrr... T'plunder the dungbies 'at be sailin' Besmara's oggin once more..."
...
I present Reijo Ilvonen for your consideration, freebooter extraordinaire. Played him in S&S twice before (once via PbP here), though we never got very far in either case. He's all set, except I need to add to his starting equipment (he was generated with average starting gold for the last run).

I've has this character written up for some time now. Just never submitted him because I wasn't sure of my chance. But here's a shot. Let me know what you think. The Backstory and everything is completely original. I'm hoping to get a chance to play him. I love immersing myself in the characters I create.

Ferdinand is the bastard son of Ralish Kallinash, an infamous pirate operating out of Illizamagorti. His mother was an exotic dancer and raised him until the age of 10 at which point he was able to flee and became a pirate. The only skill his mother taught him was how to dance but he has been able to incorporate it into a rather unique fighting style. He does get his fair share of joking about style but no one can doubt it's deadliness. He has never actually met his father.

I am building a Half-Elven Rogue (Pirate archetype) Face with no THIEF training at all.
I am considering Bard, Fighter and Duelist multi-classing. For once, I'm far from positive how the build will advance and am planning to let the game play dictate that decision process instead of simply influencing it (which is my norm).
I mostly need to finish up gear purchasing, but I will do that later. Time to get away from the computer for a bit.

Fourth time is the charm, right? Maybe Isabella will actually get to sail this time.
Isabella has spent the last several months searching for her missing husband, taken in a raid by pirates. Her quest led her to Port Peril, where she was investigating a known pirate watering hole, the Formidably Maid. She was quenching her thirst and getting a lead on her husband's trail when something hit the back of her head, and everything went black.

"Dottin' fer interest. Yeah so I'ze gobbo, ya gots a problem vith zat, longshanks?"
No, I don't actually expect anyone to take a goblin gunslinger seriously... hopefully that's a mistake any enemies will make as well. However I will come up with a more considered character submission shortly. I just happened to have this profile already set up for a less serious S&S game. :)

Wow. Well, I see that half-elven Rogue (Pirate) submissions seem to be all the rage. Drat. That has got to hurt my chances pretty seriously.
Oh, well. I like the character concept, how I've tied it into the setting, and the opportunities that these ties provide for making things more complicated later. Hopefully that will help my submission stand out from all the similar builds.
I do not really know much more about the story than how it starts. Searching for names found on the Golarion Wiki, I found a website with some information (no stats, at least not that I saw) on quite a few NPCS from this AP. I had the core of my story before I found that site. It just let me round things out a little bit.
I will make an alias if selected.
Without further ado:
Terry of Quent, Half-Elf Rogue (Pirate)
His clothes speak of him having recently come into some money, as the boots, pants, vest and tricorn hat are all matching leather pieces in a dark brown (which will hide stains better in the long run) without any salt damage or marring, yet. The shirt was once bright red, but it has faded through sun and salt, and is now a faded and pale memory of it's former self.
A typical hormone driven youth, Jon went looking for a way to make his way that didn't depend on his in-home authority figures. He ended up joining the "marks" from whom his "family" made their living. He started like anybody else his age, as an "able seaman", which means he spent most of his time cleaning and polishing things that other people got to use, except for quick, panicked bouts of combat. As he did this, though, he learned what he was supposed to learn, and began to understand how a ship operates and why the crew does the things that they do. It was during this portion of his life that someone first commented about how much Jon resembles Tessa Fairwinds.
Living amongst pirates, Jon had already come to an understanding of how bad things could go for him if Tessa found out he was claiming kinship. He had also come to understand how useful it could be to let people make assumptions and associations without actually making any claims. During this period Jon swapped ships and names. He joined the crew of The Drenched Highwayman as "Terry of Quent" and allowed people to take note of his bright red hair, green eyes, and pointed ears to draw whatever conclusions they might on their own. The new name wasn't even that much of a stretch . . .. Jon IS from Quent, after all. He was even raised in an environment where Tessa might have placed her own child for safekeeping! So, while he makes no claims that the stories are true, he also makes no effort to deny them. He justifies this by remembering that he doesn't know the truth himself.
Sometimes, in the quiet of the night, while on watch alone, "Terry" will admit to himself that he doesn't know if he wants the stories to be true or not. He doesn't know if he wants to know who, specifically, his parents are. He understands that his mother was probably just another whore at The House of Stolen Kisses, and that he will probably never know any more than that. This doesn't keep him from wondering, or worrying about the possibilities.
He just left The Drenched Highwayman, and is quickly spending his ill-gotten gains. As he is working his way down to the last few coins he has for drink, he finds his way into the Formidably Maid . . ..

That I see in the above, there have been 15 characters submitted so far (including "Big Ears" who seems destined to be replaced with a different submission).
I guessed at character intent for the full BAB progression builds based on what you reported the best attack bonuses for and how well armed your character appears for ranged combat.
Fully 1/3 of the submissions (5 of 15) are not core races.
I'm GUESSING at:
3 Melee
4 Ranged
1 Mixed
3 Casters (all of which CAN be healers, 2 of which can be arcane damage dealers)
4 Skill characters, 3 of which are pretty similar builds (slightly different focus for each, of course)
Not knowing any more about what's going on inside the GM's head than anyone else, I'm guessing that casters are the least competitive category right now.

Throwing my hat in the ring here, with a half-elven cleric of Besmara.
Her parents, both quite talented in the art of alchemy and the creation of magical knick-knacks, tried to raise the young girl as their own. And even though her father loved her very much, his wife had trouble forgiving her husband's indiscretion. Amongst the burgeoning Korvosan nobility, two human parents raising a half-elf was also the source of much gossip and ridicule, and so Sasha was pushed aside relatively soon in her life by her mother, in favor of Sasha's brother and two sisters. She was left more and more in the care of the family's pseudodragon, her mother too busy with more important things to look after the girl.
This didn't bother Sasha all that much, since she was too busy exploring the sights and sounds of Korvosa. She especially enjoyed going down to the docks, to watch the ships arrive from all the exotic locales. Her father had always hoped for his half-elven offspring to be able to attend the Korvosan Acadamae, which Sasha had zero interest in.
Eventually Sasha fell in with some people of ill-repute, a criminal gang of cat burglars called the Catsdew Lofties. She botched her initiation however, running into the Korvosan Guard. After a chase where she led them to the docks, the only way she saw fit to loose them, was to swim out to one of the ships that was just about to leave. Trying to stow away on the vessel, she was quickly found by the captain, who allowed her to remain on the ship until they eventually returned to Korvosa. In the meantime, she would have to work on the ship, just like everyone else.
But Sasha didn't want to return home. She'd finally gotten what she wanted; to be on the wide seas, sailing off into the unknown. Learning all that she could aboard the vessel, she soon found herself drawn to Besmara, the Pirate Queen. With the meager earnings that she was granted, she purchased an old, thin leather journal from a fellow sailor. The journal, embossed with a skull and crossbones, it holds a holy text known as Besmara's Code. She proceeded to carve her own holy symbol out of a piece of weathered old driftwood, and although it isn't much to look at, it seems to work for her. Eventually Sasha jumped ship in the Shackles, before she ever got to see Korvosa again.
Physical description:
This shapely half-elf has a smug expression on her face, and she walks with a confident swagger. Her bronzed skin is a tell-tale sign of a life spent outdoors. Clad in ill-fitting, waterlogged leather armor, her nimble movements are also without grace, and it's obvious she is a very candid individual. Her burgundy hair is held back by a cloth headband, one hand resting on a slender rapier at her hip. With narrowed gray eyes, Sasha looks upon the world with a mixture of inquisitiveness and wariness.
