My wife could give birth any day now, so be prepared for a few days of no posts from me. Of course it could be in four weeks time too.

Cheers

Aw yes! The joys of natural childbirth!
(Yet one of the many reasons that My wife chose to have a zipper installed! I mean a C-section!) ;P

Congratz in advance Frenchie! Let us know when it shows up! :)

Male Human Scribe/4

Seconds on the congratulations! Hope it all goes smoothly; well as smoothly as possible anyway.

Gratz man, I don't think I knew you were expecting.

Hey, congratulations in advance.

First one?

The Exchange

Second one, the family is willing us to have a little girl since there isn't one in my family yet and this is probably the last chance.

Hows your wife getting on?

Cheers

She is on the mend and getting a little better every day thanks.

It is trying for a child that got us into this predicament in the first place, the minor op that left her with bleeding was to check out a blocked tube.

Glad to hear she's mending man.

And yeah, sorry about the latest development in the game thread. I don't like doing that to characters ... much. You actually got him with the touch attack, but he has a Will save of +7, so better than average chance of making the save. And given your position ... well, he was going to attack you, and even if I rolled as poorly as I did against Pharris last round, he was going to hit. Ouch.

Next time, save the chill touch for the other more normal undead that are sneaking up behind Nicolai and Keildrithe ... ;-)

To quote Mark Twain "The reports of my death are greatly exaggerated."

Or so I hope.

I knew what I was doing when I went to face him, but the rewards out weighed the risks as the 'Panicked' condition is a game ender for him.

Sheesh! Yeah, Sorry for the disappearance!
Work hours ended up being a LOT longer than I had planned for, and the lil guy made 7 yesterday.

SO, I'm working all weekend, BUT I'll catch up ASAP, promise! (Hopefully by tonight!)

Thx guys!

Sick, pregnant wife and sick child sent home from school so might not be posting for a while...

Hope things are ok FW, that's fine, post when you are able.

The Exchange

Hi a quick update for you guys,

My son is better but my wife has gone into hospital today with a chest infection. It shouldn't take too long to get her back on track and then there is the small matter of giving birth.

I'll keep you posted although this stuff is low priority this week.

Cheers

Hope she's ok mate. Hang in there.

Male Human Bard 1/Ranger 1/Expert 3

Heads up - big week ahead for me. I'm prepping for my organization's Annual General Meeting (on Thursday), and will be moving on Friday/Saturday. Hopefully the internet will be re-connected without hassle over the weekend. If I'm slow to post, NPC me as needed, Moth!

FW, good luck to you and your wife -- hope she feels better soon and that the delivery goes well!

The Exchange

Ellie Rose was born at 3.46pm GMT and everyone is doing fine.

Good luck to all of you, I've just had my slice for the week.

Cheers

Congrats FW, great news!

I'm going to be out this weekend, heading down the coast. Feel free to act for Laithe.

Congratulations on the new born French Wolf. I don't remember if I asked if this was your first?

The Exchange

Second, the first one is a boy so I'm still getting used to all the pinkness around.

Apologies for not posting this sooner but my half-term week has been a constant stream of visitors and lost sleep. Now that that is over I can get back to a bit of gaming. I'll post on this tomorrow.

Cheers

Here are the treasures we've found from the lower chambers thus far. Once the chest is opened, I'll add any contents found within. If anyone wants to claim any of these to carry, please do so and post here so I can strike them from the common list. Laithe only shows any real interest in the short-spear at this stage, but is happy to assist in carrying other items.

* 7 x bracelets/armbands
* 2 x necklaces
* 3 x earrings
* silver comb & matching silver mirror
* palm box made of mother of pearl
* large silver bowl (carved with animal images)
* Great Sword (Tamiach)
* two golden stirrups hanging from a rotten saddle;
* small metal shield (rusted) decorated with gold studs;
* gold medallion with 6 sapphires (engraved with galloping horse);
* large emerald (set in rusted iron sceptre),
* golden dagger sheath encrusted with semi-precious stones;
* shortspear wrapped up in a mold covered sheet;
* large wooden chest, securely locked.

Nice work Ash!
My time is so erratic, I nominate anyone BUT me as 'official' treasure -keeper! ;)

Nicholai will be happy to help carry anything that needs carrying. (He'll just drop his pack if it comes to run-or-die!) But he's not interested in claiming anything at this point. (Well, he IS, after all, a little selfish, but he's more than happy to share with his new friends!) :)

And he is a little distracted/worried by the fact that he can't find the last wraith!

I say give Laithe or Keildrithe the spear. (Don't we already have another magic spear? I think that Keildrithe was carrying it?) OH! That was a javelin, wasn't it?!? ;P

COngratz on the RPing by the way guys! Usually when My old group found a magic weapon, all RPing goes out the window as we all tried to claim it! ;)

Laithe carries a short-spear as his primary weapon, but in reality his primary weapon is his predator form, which at fourth level is the equivilent of a +1 weapon. So more than happy for Keildrithe or someone else to take the spear if they would use it. If no one claims it, then Laithe will take it.

In relation to treasure, perhaps if I post a note as above and then leave a week or so for everyone to claim specific items? After that, I'll do my best to divvy up any unclaimed items evenly among the group? That means we won't have one person carrying all the treasure, and also won't have times where we are uncertain of who's got what. It can also serve as a handy reference to look back on if we need to check anything at a later date.

Let me know if that's ok?

Sounds like an excellent plan.

The Exchange

I don't tend to play characters that grab for treasure and Pharris is no exception. Her own greatsword is masterwork but in our party she may be the best choice for Tamiach's weapon so if it proves to be kosher she would like it.

Even if its a little bit shady I guess she will bite for it.

As for the rest of the stuff, I'm guessing it will create a stir wherever we try to fence it.

Pharris would like to take the earrings too. For wearing when she is trying to appear all womanly.

Ash. if you are willing to take care of the treasure, then that system would be fine by me.

Cheers

Just a heads up I might be a touch slow to post over the next 4-5 days. Am heading interstate for work Thursday and Friday, and then a long weekend here in Oz might limit my access to a PC until Tuesday. Feel free to act on behalf of Laithe if I'm holding things up.

Can some one remind me how we are doing hit points? I have 11 at 4th level, which is correct if we are doing the DMG fixed hit points system.
4+2+3+2 = 11

Which seems right, or did we roll and I just got a bit above average.

I am guessing I have not rolled 4,4,3 and forgot a roll, as my character sheet says: 3d4+0 = 11. I am assuming I just forgot to update the 3d4 to 4d4.

On another note, I am a big football fan, so I might be a tiny bit patchy posting over the next month, as the football, work and looking after the wife, who is still Tachycardic 7 weeks after surgery and gets faint if she does too much, will take up a lot of my day.

You know what, you're right. I went back and checked Kajetan's 3rd level character sheet, when he was played by Utak. Guess what? 11 hit points. So it looks like you did forget to roll hit points at 4th level.

The World Cup will not affect my posting unless by some miracle England reach the final.

Yeah, I don't think we have too much to worry about in that regard for Australia either, and England probably have a better chance than us.

Fingers crossed!

Legen..... wait for it..... DARY!

So I now have 3HP instead of 2HP.

Ah -HAH! I wondered where I put those dice! ;)

Sounds good to me. Any treasure -keeping system we come with is fine by me. As long as you don't expect ME to keep track of it! ;P (With my record, we'd all be broke and starving by next level!)

;)

I think that anything we do not claim personally we should try to sell. But with our luck, probably not all at once! That might cause a stir indeed! Perhaps we can find some university professor who would like to buy the artifacts off of us for historical study?

The Exchange

We started a Kingmaker campaign on Saturday and the first dice roll, the first initiative of my first game playing in so long fell to me, guess what I got. Yep a 1. What a way to start things off.

Maybe Mr Evil DM will let you re-roll, I would. 4th level and 12 hit points is not good.

But then my mate DM'ed in a Living Greyhawk special at GenconUK once where the wizard had con 8 and 18 hit points. It was a 10th level party.

Maybe one of us should take a level of rogue? just in case Mothman has a few more surprises like he hinted.

I'll allow re-rolls on 1s for hit points.

To be fair, I have an average of 3 on the rolls, so the one is not a major problem. I also like the challenge of keeping him alive on low hit points, lots of uses of false life from now on.

Heh, extended False Life, a mage's first spell every morning!
Followed swiftly by day's supply of Mage Armor! :)

Male Human Scribe/4

I've added in the items from the chest to the list below. Pharris has claimed the great sword and earings. Please make a claim for anything specific you are interested in. Laithe has shown interest in the wooden shield (though frowns at the skull motif) and the spear, but other claims to these should take precedent over his, given he spend a lot of his time in wolf form. As mentioned, I'll divvy up unclaimed items as best as possible:

CLAIMED
* 3 x earrings (PHARRIS)
* Tamiach's Great Sword (PHARRIS)
* heavy wooden shield (with skull motif) (LAITHE)
* shortspear wrapped up in a mold covered sheet; (LAITHE)

UNCLAIMED
* 7 x bracelets/armbands
* 2 x necklaces
* silver comb & matching silver mirror
* palm box made of mother of pearl
* large silver bowl (carved with animal images)
* two golden stirrups hanging from a rotten saddle;
* small metal shield (rusted) decorated with gold studs;
* gold medallion with 6 sapphires (engraved with galloping horse);
* large emerald (set in rusted iron sceptre),
* golden dagger sheath encrusted with semi-precious stones;
* ceramic painted dish;
* obsidian spearhead;
* 165 ancient gold coins;
* 380 tarnished ancient silver coins
* steel clawed fist sceptre (light mace),
* stoppered clay flask adorned with a rune;
* timber wand;
* four ceramic inscribed tablets

Several of the items appeal to Nicholai's sense of fashion. ;) BUT he's more than willing to see if we can sell them all and simply split the coins among the party. (Although he'll probably take to wearing a set of the armbands just because!) ;)

He would like to claim the Steel clawed Fist scepter (light mace) unless there another interest. The decor appeals to his sense of the absurd. (Is it masterwork? Thinking future enchantment here.)

He definitely takes an interest in the possibly mystic items. -The timber wand, the stoppered clay flask, and the 4 ceramic inscribed tablets. He will work with Kaj to see if they are indeed magic and ID them for future use by all!

Male Human Scribe/4

Just a heads up I'll be travelling interstate on Thursday, Friday and Saturday so might get limited chance to post. Please act for Laithe if this proves to be holding things up.

Ok, regarding the items we've found in the Cairn thus far, I've made an effort to spread them among the party as evenly as possible, hope that's ok? Please feel free to swap etc, or otherwise add the items to your character profile. Obviously as we identify and/or sell items we could seek to re-distribute as needed.

Pharris
* 28 ancient gold coins
* 64 ancient silver coins (tarnished)
* 3 x earings
* 1 x knecklace
* Tamiach's Great Sword
* 1 x bracelet / armband

Nicolai
* 28 ancient gold coins
* 64 ancient silver coins (tarnished)
* 1 x bracelet / armband
* 1 x knecklace
* silver comb & matching silver mirror
* steel clawed fist sceptre (light mace),
* stoppered clay flask adorned with a rune;

Kajetan
* 28 ancient gold coins
* 64 ancient silver coins (tarnished)
* 1 x bracelet / armband
* large emerald (set in rusted iron sceptre),
* timber wand;
* four ceramic inscribed tablets
* large silver bowl (carved with animal images)

Keildrithe
* 28 ancient gold coins
* 64 ancient silver coins (tarnished)
* 2 x bracelet / armband
* gold medallion with 6 sapphires (engraved with galloping horse);
* two golden stirrups hanging from a rotten saddle;
* ceramic painted dish;

Alton
* 28 ancient gold coins
* 64 ancient silver coins (tarnished)
* 1 x bracelet / armband
* golden dagger sheath encrusted with semi-precious stones;
* palm box made of mother of pearl
* small metal shield (rusted) decorated with gold studs;

Laithe
* 25 ancient gold coins
* 60 ancient silver coins (tarnished)
* 1 x bracelet / armband
* heavy wooden shield (with skull motif)
* shortspear wrapped up in a mold covered sheet;
* obsidian spearhead;

Hey folks,

Just a heads up, more real life delays for me... My car just died this weekend and I've got dental surgery coming up on Thursday, so my "spare time" this week will be spent car hunting before turning to nursing a soar mouth... and then probably more car hunting...

Grrr... sorry!

NPC Keildrithe as needed...

There should be laws limiting the amount of time that RL can suck from your life. So we can get on to the important things, like gaming and playing with our kids!

(Kids do NOT count as RL, unless they are sick, then they should be subject to the above-mentioned laws) ;P

Finding any time to watch the soccer?

The Exchange

I watched Spain beat Portugal, but luckily missed Germany doing the same to England. Still got the Dutch as my dark horses to win the whole thing.

As for RL we are just living day by day at the minute. Perhaps this weekend will give you Americans a chance to relax.

Cheers

I went to the pub with some of the lads to watch England get crushed by Germany, we drown our sorrows afterwards. I bet they will blame it on sludgy blood caused by too much high altitude training, or maybe I am clutching at straws.

Not seen hardly any of the football, but I agree that the Dutch have a decent chance, they were my pre-tournament favourites. Although I have missed every one of their matches for one reason or another.
