And now, for one last flurry of PbP before the famine of Ash Wednesday befalls!
Fun? Yeah, pretty much. Crowds are NOT my thing, but If I have to face them, I'd rather be catching beads than Christmas shopping! :)
Mostly I'm just enjoying the couple of days that I get off since campus is closed!
Hows the party over in Sydney? New Orleans is pretty much back to 'normal' for Mardi Gras it seems. (PLease don't ask what 'normal' for Mardi Gras is unleess you REELY want to know. ;P)

The one in Sydney is very different to New Orleans’. For one, it is much smaller in scope and scale, but secondly … well, the full name is the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras. It basically started off twenty years or so ago (I think) as a gay pride parade and has kind of grown from there.
Personally, I think I’d prefer the New Orleans Mardi Gras ;-)
Um, yeah, probably.
We have our share of that too, but the party here is rooted in tradition and history, especially with the 'Krewes' (originally well-intentioned civic groups or private clubs, now mostly an excuse for those with more money than sense to spend some of it,)
But for the MOST part, it is good, clean (if occasionally rowdy and annoying) fun.
Mostly I'm just glad it's OVER!
I think next year I'll join the growing throng of New Orleans area residents who migrate to Disney World about this time every year! :)

So ... this battle is kind of bogging down. I know that people have been busy, and sick, and had other commitments. That's cool, and I totally understand; I've been in that boat myself lately. But I'm getting a little concerned at the pace of the game, so I think I'm going to instigate a 24 hour posting rule for combat type situations; if we're waiting longer than that for someone's turn I'll either NPC the character or they will delay - drop back in initiative. Sound fair?
Arctaris, I know work and/or school commitments seem to be eating into your online time lately. What is your usual postin schedule these days? I don't mind that its reduced, but it would be good to know when I should wait for you, and when you might not be around for a few days.

Sounds fair, I have been feeling the same way. Its a shame because the fight started full of energy and lots of posting..now I struggle to remember where everyone is.
But I don't generally have the RL issues that some of you have, so I'll just finish by saying that this is my favourite character and game and I hope we can get unbogged!

Ragadolf and ADMAE, how are you guys feeling about your “take-over” characters? Feeling it? Prefer to be running something you’d rolled up yourself?
We’re nearing the end of a story arc, so if you’d rather make a new character I could probably arrange something. Ragadolf seems to have taken to Nicolai with flair, I’m not so sure about ADMAE and Kajetan. I know you’ve got some real life stuff going on, so its cool that your priorities are different, I just want to make sure everyone’s still having fun.

I'll admit I'm still 'breaking in' my character voice. But that would be normal whether I made him from scratch or took one over like this.(Heh. When I get stuck, I just channel an old college buddy of mine. He WAS Nicholai, minus the magic.)
Just FYI, Real Life/Work has reared it's ugly head once again. I was looking over my schedule and realized that I have something in my auditorium EVERY DAY from now through June!
So If I ever disappear, just wait, I'll pop back up gasping for PbP air! ;)

You have a great looking group already and you know where I am if it comes to that (which I doubt).
As for the PC, its ironic that my wife and her laptop were away on business at the same time.
My copies of the scenario and guide should be arriving soon and I'll probably put my hat in the ring then.

I don't do the whole inspecting my navel stuff very often, but here goes.
Pharris is an impulsive little girl with the attention span of a gnat but I hope her bursting into the imps hasn't annoyed anyone. If so say and I'll tone it down.
Better yet tell her off and she will listen, she's bright. The girl just lacks common sense. Needs guidance perhaps.
Like I said I don't usually do this ooc but I don't want to spoil this for you guys.

I'm just trying to avoid my (old) habits of meeting force with force. (Though, it DID always seem to work for my old group!) I think if we go toe-to-toe with these guys, we gonna end up Imp-chow! ;P Ergo Nicholai making himself a target, giving the guys who can actually deal some dmg the chance to do it!

Guys, well done for defeating the devils and their (reluctant) were-rat allies! I hope people aren’t too disappointed that a couple of them got away … it’s unfortunate, but its not the end of the world (well … yet), and if we stick with the campaign long enough you might yet get a chance to tie up those loose ends.
I admit, I made it very hard for you to catch the one that was upstairs (there was a way, but I didn’t really think you’d stumble onto it), and the one down stairs, well, it kinda sucked for you that it escaped, but sometimes you can’t help bad rolls – that’s the game. You definitely made the right choice by concentrating on getting the chain devil into the box rather than the imp; you were on the clock as far as restraining it before it returned to its normal size and power (and the box no longer worked on it) … that would not have been pretty. Very well done.
And for no-one dying too. I kind of wondered there a couple of times, but you all managed to pull through (some only just!).
We’re almost at the end of this chapter, once a few loose ends are tied up (although there’s a number of loose ends that will continue into the next one and beyond). I’ll be giving out XP soon too. I think I’m going to steer away from the half RP XP, half encounter XP, as I’m having trouble keeping track. I’ll probably just give full XP for encounters, with some bonus story award xp here and there.

Was tossing up between a level in scout or a level in druid. Went again with druid as 4th turns out to be a bit of a milestone; +1 base attack, +1 to hit & damage with claws (which also count as being magical), and went with +1 to strength to give him a little more punch on the damage front.
Only othe thing note-worthy is that I spent 4 skill points on a couple of ranks in Sense Motive (a non-class skill).
Yeah, sorry 'bout that.

No worries mate. I was getting concerned that something had happened. Glad to hear its no more serious than busyness and money-making. I can't remember where you were up to in your studies, are you finishing high school or doing college or university or something?
Alton's still around ... I was probably about a week away from having to decide whether or not to write him out, but if you're still interested in playing and think you'll be able to keep up a reasonable posting schedule (at least every 2-3 days, more if possible) you're very welcome back.

Took scorching ray (NAtch) as my only 2nd lvl spell for now. FIgured he needed the fire-power and it went well with the bloodline theme. (His scorching ray will be a burning beam of light, instead of a line of flames)

Guys, can you each provide me with a short wish-list of two items (magical or otherwise) that you would like your character to have?
I’ll see about working them in as treasure or whatever in upcoming parts of the game. Hint: stuff that is thematically and level appropriate will see you more of a chance of getting it sooner!

Seriously, I am fine to survive on his wits, Karejan is so far from what I would normally play he is a challenge and I think I finally have his angle worked out.
I am also a big fan of low power magic items, so when you do find one it is wow a plus one sword!
