Can we just assume that we successfully make it back across the stream and carry a tied up Jarred back to the ruin of his cabin, just to keep the story moving along? I don't mean to be pushy, but I do think that the main story element here is that we managed to capture and bind Jarred... now on to camp set up and recon! ;-)

Yes indeed, and I'm generally happy to move things along like that ... but one more choice to make before then!

TwiceBorn |

I'm not trying to be pushy, or drop hints or anything with this second campsite ... Grall's just trying to be helpful (and kudos on getting his name Twiceborn). But if you want to camp on the hill, it's up to you guys.
No worries. I think this place might be more secure than the last. After all, someone burned down the cabin (though whether goblins or Jarred in a fit of madness, I'm not sure)... I'll leave it up to Laithe to assess the security of the location... It also seems like it might be easier to carry an unconscious man here than back up a hill.

He has mentioned that from time to time. I think he also mentioned he had some family visiting at some point, so maybe that's taken up his usual computer time.

Sorry Arctaris, I didn't mean to contest the wildlife education you've received, my apologies if that's what my post in the in-game thread sounded like. Just providing another point of view and experience, that's all... Like anything in this world, different people have different approaches to common problems, all of which are supposed to be the "correct way to do things"... I certainly didn't want this to come across as an "I've got a zillion years of experience and I know everything about bears and cougars" type response...
Cheers...

No problem Twice Born. I've no problem accepting that some people are more educated than me in some fields. Also thats probably a good thing to know, considering where I live.
It didn't seem like railroading to me. Its pretty much what I was planning to do anyway.

I on the other hand am feeling somewhat inadequete, what with playing the druid in the campaign and yet having much less knowledge of nature than either of you! : )

Cool... But it seems like I may need to take back what I said about black bears being big wimps... Front page of the paper today: a black bear mauled a cyclist to death... oh well, stuff happens... But that also reinforces another rule of bear encounters: if you run (or bike rapidly) instead of moving back very slowly, they'll chase you and do nasty things to you when they finally catch you!

Ash Walker |

What? No Crocodile Dundee-type stories from you? ;-)
Well, I did step on a red belly black snake once, during a 42km, 2 day hike in the mountains. They are not the most venomous of snakes, though are dangerous enough. Still pretty scary to look down and see the snakes head rearing up about to strike; I possibly broke some high jump record that day as I leapt back to avoid its bite!!
But as for crocs, most of them live in the North of the country; Sydney and the surrounding land is a little too cold for their liking.

Experience for Day 2!
Alton:
Jirkin:
Keildrithe:
Laithe:
Yruch:
By my calculations, everyone should have enough XP to level up. So level up now! Please feel free to discuss any questions or anything on leveling in this thread. Spellcasters will have their new spell slots and/or be able to prepare their new complement of spells in the morning.
HP may be rolled or you may take the average.
Anyone who has leveled will be Level 2 over night, so will regain 2hp if you get a good night’s rest.
Anything else you need to know let me know.
In a number of the PBP games here, people are putting their character details / stats in their character’s profile. I think that’s a good idea, if it suits everyone we might do that for this game too, rather than sending me an updated character sheet – what do you all think?
Oh, one more thing Dirk, I’ve been thinking about my take on paladins, and I’ve come to the conclusion that giving them Detect Chaos rather than Detect Evil is shortchanging their ability a little (both in general and in the context of this campaign). So, unless you really prefer the Detect Chaos ability, go ahead and change it back to Detect Evil (and the smite ability is against Evil as well.)
Alton recently voiced a desire to learn Karandic. I put a bit of a delay on learning languages. You assign the skill points first, and then gain fluency with the language at a later date. In the case of Alton, since he has a ready supply of teachers, and it has previously been stated on a number of occasions (starting with his character background) that he has a knack for languages, this delay would not be too great, probably a week of game time, the beginning of the next adventure, or the time he reaches 3rd level, whichever comes first. (We’ll assume he’s a VERY quick learner!)

Yay! Ranks in Spot! I've put the updated Alton Hilltopple in his profile. Let me know if there is anything I need to change.
The language things sounds fine. Being a quick learner is (unsurprisingly) fine too.
Don't forget your bonus feat (Dedicated). Also a general note to all, don't forget to add any items / treasures you have found so far to your character sheets. If it's not there, I'll assume you dont have it!

Cool! I've leveled up Laithe and added all his details to the profile.
Laithe's (Extra) Spells:
** spoiler omitted **
Ash, an you add equipment and stuff too? Also, for some reason if you add your languages in the "languages" field it doesnt show up, so can you put those in the general description too?
Thanks.

No problem with updating the character info in our Paizo profiles rather than via e-mail, although it may have to wait until the weekend.
Some other PbP games have a house rule that spell casters also get bonus 0 level spells = to their relevant ability bonus (Int for Wizards, wisdom for clerics, etc.). What do you think about that? I think that house rule would give Jirkin a little bit more to do...

TwiceBorn |

Yeah, that houserule makes a lot of sense to me. Unless there are any objections (and I don't imagine there would be) we can go with that. So that should effect Jirkin, Laithe and Keildrithe.
No problem with waiting for the weekend to update.
Cool... now should this apply to spells known, spells per day, or both? I'm thinking both (since high charisma applies to both the number of spells a bard knows and the number of spells they can cast per day), but...???

Yeah, for spontaneous casters, lets say both. A few extra 0 level spells isn't going to seriously unbalance anything. (Hmmm, why do those sound like famous last words?)

AWED |

AWED, if your still interested in my Eberron PbP we need another player.
Sorry Arctaris, i am in too many PbP right now, Sorry i am busy.
Oh Mothman good new and bad news, Bad News:I am going away again. Good new: The place i am going to has a computer, YAY! I CAN STILL POST, leaving thursday.

AWED |

Hey AWED, how was the trip to Canada anyway?
With your character, is it possible to put the details in Jirkin's profile?
Also, I can't tell at a glance, but which skill/s did you allocate your new skill points to?
When i am in CT i will be able to fill in the profile, thankfully. Canada was Awesome!Went to Ottowa, then to museum and then went canoing. DOH! Yeah i just remember i forgot to put the skills in.
I right now put 2 points in concentration and knowledge(Arcana)2=4points all together.

So is everyone back, caught up, levelled up? Any questions in regards to levelling or anything?
Yep, Laithe is levelled up and good to go. I've added current spells to the character profile online.
I should warn you I won't get a chance to post on Wednesday, as I'm heading to Melbourne for work. Just the one day; but feel free to act on behalf of Laithe if my absense is holding things up.

Ash Walker |

Ok, thanks for letting me know. You flying down and back within the day?
Oh, also, don't forget to include the potion from Gosia's cottage (if any) on your character sheet.
Yep, up and back in the same day. Does make for a long day.
Thanks for the reminder of the potion - I've just added it.
Ash Walker |

Ok, so what is the plan of attack with the goblins? Without having had a proper look at their village/lair here are a couple of possibilities.
We could approach them in the open and try and draw them and their leader out, without attacking. Keildrithe might have a chance to fascinate them and isolate their leader. But that takes away any element of surprise we might have.
We could try and (quietly) take out the sentries and sneak in, though from the description Jarred had given us, this might be a difficult option. It might also be tough to do with Jarred along, in his current state of mind.
We could just try and walk in, hack and slash like, but probably best to avoid this option if possible.
We could try and lure a few out into an ambush a little way off, and take as many of them out as possible before having to enter their lair. Then head in once they are suitably weakened.
What do you think? (I'm sure there are other options as well). Bare in mind they might still have a child from Barg (one of the girls was unaccounted for).

Arctaris |

I think that we should take advantage of the Boar King's lack of planning. I think that two of us should get into good positions for sniping. Then we let the Boar King do his frontal assault, accompanied by one of us (logically Yruch). The snipers will provide ranged support for the Boar King's assault. Two of us who are adept at stealth (probably myself and someone else) will try to sneak in and resuce the child if she's still alive and mabye covertly take out their leader.
