I think I need to get disciplined and get into a routine for checking and posting. I used to sit down and spend one hour a day posting in various PBPs
I don’t mind doing that Bull, I was afraid I was being a pest…I’ll continue to do that if you can put up with it as I’d like Bull to stay on as well…
Almost to Ft Worth; long day…
Woot! Almost to where I am!
I'd say let's meet up, but I'm too ugly. One look and you'd keel over from the horror. :)
And where I am. I would also suggest meeting up, as I am very handsome, but I'm actually going out of town for the day, today.
Findurêl |
I won’t be in town for long, my son moved to a new more permanent place so we loaded up the furniture he inherited from his grandparents in a truck along with other stored belongings, and made the long trek from Georgia. We got here late last night and crashed. We’ll unload, and then head back in a couple of days. Our son has a couple of day trips planned for us…
But we’ll have to keep that in mind when we visit next as we’ll be flying and have more time…we should make quite the trio as I’m stunningly average looking…

And me. Didn't realize so many of us were down in Texas. I'll be at the Clipping. show in Austin tonight if anyone happens to be here.
He walks up to Sakitu, hugs her warmly, brushes his lips against hers, and then gooses her lightly on her tush…
It's an old circus term! That's why we say that!
Findurêl |
Got the long trip back to Georgia, might be sparse till late tonight or tomorrow…
Bulvi |
A bit of a commute from Europe so I wont be participating in any meet ups.
I know a few of ye have gone to Paizocon, if I ever went I'd be happy to buy people drinks. But if I was going to any that side I'd be considering PAX East but thats a long way and a lot of money.
I just googled to get a rough distance involved in that trip and wow. Be careful and take breaks as you need.

Before COVID and before the Russian invasion, I used to travel to Ukraine a couple times per year and generally I had a lay over in Munich. Bulvi, if you're anywhere in those area, maybe the next time I make that trip, it would be fun to meet up.
Quasit* |
There was a doorway out of the cauldron room and also the fireplace exit/portal. We took the fireplace initially, and have just re-entered it through the doorway. So hopefully the magic portals are at least stable.

Afraid not. The closest I get to that is Essen Spiel. Essen does seem to be a nice city with some really good restaurants which is nice bonus to the trips.

So I’m guessing Chest Thumper needs some sort of a restoration spell cast upon him to remove the wisdom damage…do any of our casters have that? Or do we carry any scrolls like that?
Findurêl |
Just an FYI for those not on Selena’s Discord server; the GM mentioned he’s traveling and may not be able to respond as regular as usual…
Findurêl |
I’m guessing everyone has to roll bluff & sense motive checks?
Findurêl |
Seeing the GM’s post on Discord that we made it to the treeline undetected, I moved Fin’s icon to his current position (described in my last post); posting from phone so can’t move everyone at the moment (I’ll try when I get home) but I’ll assume y’all are just behind me in the trees. Will await till the GM posts telling us what we see from that perspective before acting again…

Hey guys, sorry I disappeared for a bit. I came down with a fever on Wednesday which I found out yesterday was Covid. I'm not 100% but I feel up to doing things other than sleeping and watching TV so I'm catching up.
Maka Na'Shota |
With open space and multiple people at multiple locations, we don't have much chance quietly capturing someone. I also don't see much reason to try diplomacy with what is 90% likely Rasputin's troops who destroyed the town to turtle up and get the drop on Baba Yaga's agents once the hut appeared.
Finn has blend. I say Saki casts greater invisibility on Quasit and Bulvi so they can get up close to one of the buildings. If they can pull all a stealth takedown and get some info, great. If not, our two main melee people are in position and our casters are still safe in the cover of the woods.
Casters can provide support from a distance and Maka's mobility will allow her to move to wherever we need her.
I like Fin's idea of staying around to observe, no real hurry.
We can also just keep moving through the woods and leave. Try to follow that road from the cover of the trees and see where it goes.

Get lots of vitamin D. That's particularly important against these kinds of flus.

Well...I don't have the flu, I have Covid 19 and, unless there is a serious reversal I'm mostly over it after just 3 days thanks to be fully immunized and boosted, but eating better probably would help my overall health and immune system.

If the hut we arrived in is at the upper right then isn't the tank pointed away from it?
Bulvi |
Vaccines are great. I finally got it and while it took a few days but it was never too bad.
I assume Bulvi is holding onto that sword of the planes for now? At least until we sell or decide to keep it. I actually need to have a conversation in character with Selena to see if she knows what creature type her Great Great Great.... Great Great Aunt is. Native Outsider? Fey? I am thinking holy and bane on his longsword for the final fight would help a bit.

Findurêl |
Looks that way…might be 2 platoons, one per hut…
Hoping to find out more about the dude by the fire…
GM_Almonihah |
You have encountered a Troop! Okay, well, two.
They work somewhat similar to swarms, if you're not familiar with them. Single-target effects are ineffective, though single-target attacks work because they are large enough and few enough that killing them one-by-one is a workable strategy. Otherwise, they always hit anything adjacent to or in their space, and make spellcasting and other concentration tasks difficult while in that area.
Also these ones have guns and other fun stuff that you may soon find out about.
Findurêl |
From his demeanor and mention of ‘my troops’, I’m thinking this might be Rasputin? If so, wasn’t thinking we’d run into him this early…
Maka Na'Shota |
I'm not liking that +18 to Rasputin's dispel check. Is it time to deal with 9th level spell slots already? I guess it was too much to hope that he was a high level monk.
Maka Na'Shota |
I'm not so sure circling around in that much open terrain is a great idea, we'd be sitting ducks. And even if we get there, I'm not clear on what advantage that spot has? We'd be further away from the tank, which is very much to its advantage.
The woods already provide cover, we can escape into them if need be, and we can kite the enemy into melee range. We should buff up and attack, not keep trying to do stealth stuff when we already got caught.
Findurêl |
It’s not gonna matter if we’re far away or close to the tank, as most come with mounted machine guns for up close fighting…if so, that might prove more lethal than the big gun…
I’m hoping Rasputin sends his troops into the woods after us; from their current position, they’d be entering from the southeast while we’ve moved around to the west and then headed south…
If we get to our target and the troops attack us first, we can use the hovels for cover and they’ll be out in the open and the tank’s not likely to engage us if its troops are close to us…if the tank tries to attack, it’ll likely be unwieldy and slow moving. It doesn’t look like it has a traditional tank turret per se, so it might have to move and turn to change direction to fire at us; that being the case, if we stay mobile, we should be able to avoid its big gun. And Maka can go airborne and light up the tank, making it uncomfortable for those inside as well as obscuring their vision; some flame will inevitably find its way into the arrow slits, so they might not be too enthused to peek out of those slits to target us…
I’m using stealth because I got caught since he sees invisibility; from my understanding, that doesn’t mean he can automatically see me in stealth mode…but then again, he might have an unbelievably high perception so there’s that…
Sakitu |
I'm reviewing all those magic things that the skeleton gave us and it hints at a strategy. There's a mass hold person and a wall of stone. I don't know how many people I can get with mass hold person but probably at least one troop. But then, if the troop is really a swarm, maybe that won't work. We should all drink the Good Hope potions (or at least 4 of us).
Someone should use the iron body scroll but I'm not sure who can.

Covid is a flu. Flu is a whole grouping of species families, similar to how mammal is a grouping of species families. Covid 19 in particular was heavily politicized, so you can't trust anything the news put out about it (because of the general principle of anything heavily politicized is inherently untrustworthy), you have to go to the sciente papers and old reports when covid had not yet been tampered with (cause yes, it already existed).

All of that is very sensible.
Quasit is no soldier. As a rogue, her instinct when freaked out is 'Hide'. She's pretty worried about these wonder weapons, especially with Rasputin in the town, so her best idea is ''move to a better hiding spot and see what they do'. Her second best idea is 'run for our lives'. Someone with a better idea could probably convince her.
Now that we know Rasputin is here, it makes sense why the soldiers are on the defensive -- he knows the Hut can stomp around and murder everyone, even if they have modern guns. They were waiting for people to come out -- which makes me wonder why they didn't open fire the second we emerged, It seems like we're in range.
Sakitu |
I was also wondering why they didn't shoot when we first came out.
Findurêl |
Yeah, don’t think there’s a great plan here either way…if we stay in the woods, Maka might be limited offensively as we wouldn’t want the woods to catch fire…and Rasputin/the soldiers might try to start a fire to smoke us out if we stayed there as well…getting caught out in the open’s not ideal either, I’m just hoping we were able to start moving quicker than Rasputin can get his troops to react…guess we’ll see…
Maka Na'Shota |
And Maka can go airborne and light up the tank, making it uncomfortable for those inside as well as obscuring their vision; some flame will inevitably find its way into the arrow slits, so they might not be too enthused to peek out of those slits to target us…
Maka can turn into fire and use the arrow/gun slits in the tank to shoot herself inside to attack the operators directly. Being inside the tank will also give her good cover so it won't be as dangerous to be by herself.
Where as attacking Rasputin by herself would be pretty dangerous and leave her whole ass open to the tank and the troops. Not that my fire goblin wouldn't try it.

Both are good options. Wall of stone especially gives us good battlefield control. We can separate the groups, block line of sight, and/or even just form the wall around one of them.
Someone with a better idea could probably convince her.
Unfortunately Maka makes fire, not ideas.
They were waiting for people to come out -- which makes me wonder why they didn't open fire the second we emerged, It seems like we're in range.
Fin is Batman so he snuck out without them seeing him, he spotted them, and we snuck out to avoid the and over half the party actually made the check.

@GM: with the tank being 30’ tall, I’m assuming Fin is at least 20+’ up, putting him up over 10’ above the ice wall the troops are behind; with the troop swarm taking up a 20x20 space, being that high at that angle, would Fin have LOS on them?
Bulvi |
Ok I need to look over the guns carefully... I'm awfully tempted to have Bulvi take a level in Gunslinger but it might be a bit late in the day. I'm a little too amused at the idea of him leveling a light machine gun at folks back on Gollarion.
Maka Na'Shota |
You'll really want to pick up firearm proficiency if you want to use them. The -4 to attack isn't so bad given advanced/modern firearms will basically always be targeting touch AC since they go out 5 range increments. The +4 to misfire chance really hurts though.
A single level of gunslinger is enough to make them a good backup option, but you might also consider retraining some class levels and feats. This is one of the best opportunities to focus on guns.
Quasit* |
Before the Advanced Class Guide came out and gave us a Hunter class, I made a gunslinger/druid character that was basically Daniel Boone. He had a pig for an animal companion, and I'd use him sort of like a hunter pet in Warcraft, to rush the enemy and keep him at a distance while I plugged away. To be honest, the druid part never really worked, but he was sure fun to play.
One year at Gen Con, I won the auction for an Android race boon for Pathfinder. This was before Starcraft came out -- it was the only Android character in the organized play campaign for a while. I never really found a great character concept that fit perfectly, but I ended up making that character a gunslinger and played it unimaginatively like Mr. Data, but it was always fun to pull out the fancy boon and hand it to the GM at the table and watch his eyes go wide with envy.
