Kendryl |
Just checking I read that correctly, Kendryl-- you intended to insult Zsófia, right? :)
Insult is a strong word, I had hoped it read more like poke fun. Although which of those it turned out to be would say a lot about demeanor. The interchange was pretty brilliant, thank you for that.

Never know. I've had some disappear and come back an hour later....

Eris Northanger |
Oh, and Eris doesn't actually have a low charisma. It's the standard issue 10. Maybe that's low for this group? In any case, she uses INT for Bluff and Diplomacy so she gets by alright.
Jorrast Feorte |
I don't think anyone meant that you had a low charisma. I think the intent was that Eris isn't an attention hound like several of the people here.... Jorrast normally would be in the background as well. But joining this new group he feels that he needs to be known.

Aw, thank you too! Let me explain my thinking: As Kendryl entered, he belittled Zsófia's title (mildly, by putting it in quotes) and corrected her speech. Though she herself had undermined it before with the other recruits who did not claim positions of nobility, her title is actually very important to her, especially with members of the Greenwatch High Council, because she wants them to recognize its legitimacy. Zsófia also has the Pride drawback trait. I decided this meant that while she could not afford to insult Kendryl back, neither could she let it pass, so she subtly challenged him to a duel with her plume-- close enough to a challenge to let her feel she had addressed it, though it probably wasn't enough to overcome her drawback for this scene. She also made a show of giving Kendryl's title the respect it deserves, by way of setting an example of how she hopes they will respect her title going forward. All in all, there was a lot going on in that brief exchange. :)
There are probably some fairly perceptive people in that room, so perhaps this little outline will give more insight into Zsófia's motivations if anyone is interested.

Oh, sorry! I shouldn't have implied Eris has a low Charisma, since I just assumed it. I figured you were doing the same thing I do when I have a character with Charisma 7 or whatever, making her watch and have lots of thoughts but not speak much.
Zsófia feels she needs to make a good first impression-- she wants everyone to remember that she has a title, but she doesn't want to seem stuck up about it. But I've also been enthusiastic about this game and making lots of long posts, so I wanted to make sure no one feels like I'm talking over them or hogging the spotlight. My apologies if so!

and now I have not 1 but 2 posts which are gone!
UGH indeed! I hate when that happens. I used to have an Extension for Chrome that saved everything I type in textboxes, so that if Paizo's site choked or I forgot to copy what I had typed before hitting Submit I could recover what I lost. But then the Extension stopped working. Since then I've switched to Firefox, and that's a little better because while it doesn't save posts to easily call them up again, it does retain the text in the textarea after I submit if I click Back, so most of the problem is resolved.

Vandomir bows again, "very well sir, the Mercenary Brigade it is. Does the Brigade have any uniforms or other emblems to demonstrate its esprit de corps? And if so, where is the quartermaster, so I can draw my issuance please?"
He calmly replies, "Uniforms yes, we had thought a of a few options but felt it would be better for the brigade to decide. The dark grey suits with Green and white tassels will be provided to you in at most a week's time. The maids in the castle await our arrival."

Also, GM, I think I'm a bit lost. Should I just go ahead and post in Gameplay?
Yes just post in gameplay! Beariks meeting was just a formality.
Same. Or would you rather we post an introductory post here first?
Many have answered the question that started discussion. If you want a formal meeting then make a spoiler to Bearik. Otherwise you are more than welcome to post in gameplay!

So it looks like two more characters to join before we get this rolling. Quince feel free to take the reigns!

No apologies needed, they're really good posts.

No worries, I'm not insulted or anything. It'll be true that Eris thinks more than she talks, is brutally direct, and is something of a misanthrope (in her head at least).
But! She is prepared to be victorious if any verbal duels happen her way.

Okay posted. Will finish up background and description later this evening and should be good for regular posting from tomorrow on.

ARE YOU ASKING FOR A CHALLENGE?!?! ;)
Alice Emmington |
Alice enters the space where people enlisted for the Greenwatch endeavor.
Reading the note with the description of the recruiter, she looks up to pick out the man named Baerik.
When the opportunity presents itself, she approaches him.
"Sir Baerik, i presume? I saw a flier, with a call for able bodies to aid in ventures in the Stolen Lands."
Bearik |
Sorry folks I just crashed last night!
Alice Emmington |
It you want to use honorifics then Lord would be best. You just came in with a flyer? So what would you bring to a group of elite adventurers? What achievements have you achieved?"
"Very well, 'Lord' Baerik.",
"Yes, i arrived here with a flyer. The agents spreading the word of the mission were spending the time more with yelling and handing these out, than taking time to speak in person. But what information could be gathered during a break of theirs, the prospect of aiding in development of barely explored, untamed lands, was something i could not resist, even if i tried to."
"As for what i could offer you and yours, for one i am a keen observer of my surroundings."
Alice is trying for the smallest detail on Lord Baerik's appearance, the average person may not notice.
Perception: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (10) + 20 = 30If this is sufficient...otherwise ignore.
"For example, two seams in your attire appear worn, in need of a tailor's attention. Even though your mantle covers it partially. The guardsman at the door is pretending to be fine, yet tends to lean heavily on his right leg. Had he injured the other, recently?"
"Desna as my witness, i have traveled much. It has provided me with experience in tracking and survival. Are you familiar with pilgrimages of Desna? Her faithful travel between sites sacred to her, far and wide. I have with me three portraits of scenery, which i've drawn at such sites."
"I have studied at Oppara's university, so i am no novice in knowledge of several fields. I graduated top of my class."
A tiny songbird, emitting a light, flies up onto her shoulder. It's feathers oddly an image of a starlit sky. "And i can commune with certain kinds of spirits. Which lends me a various choice in magics, appropriate to different situations. And if magics run out, i can tend to wounds and injuries through mundane efforts."
She presents it without a hint of hesitation.
Bearik |
He responds, "Ah yes that is a very good skill to have. Where is this seam?" With your help he casts mending and it is fixed. Looking at the guard he waves him forward with a hand and asks, "What did you do with your foot?" He lowers his head and explains how he nearly sprained his ankle, as he was rushing to his post. "Alice can you do something for him?"
He begins writing down several things nodding to himself as he does. Then he looks up and states, "I believe we could use you. All of the contracts have been for retainers, that is 70 gp per month with needs of living included. What does that sound to you?"
[ooc]Alice if you haven't already, get a post into gameplay ASAP.
Alice Emmington |
"That's fine with me. I'll head over to the other expedition members.
A good day to you, Lord Baerik."
With a nod she bids you goodbye, and heads off.

Yeah it's pretty chaotic with all the cross conversations. Been leaning on surly barbarian silence in the process
Xandarian Quartermain |
Yeah, but that's half the fun!!
Zsófia Dobós |
Ouch! Especially with cohorts, companions, etc. Still, it's probably better to have too many players than not enough.

Nope! We all signed up for a post every day, right!?! And everybody post default actions on your character sheet for in combat on the rare days when you can't be online.... ;-)
I remember playing marathon games back in '79. If anybody fell asleep they became our "trap detectors".
Eris Northanger |
It looks like I've gotten myself into something I'm not up for. There's been just shy of 48 posts in the last 2 days and the night is young. I don't have time for all that reading just to stay current, much less compose the kind of posts that would actually respond to all the things being said and done.
I thought I was joining a regular old Kingmaker campaign with maybe a few extra trappings, but I have no idea what's going on and again, I just don't have the spare time to read through all the stuff scattered around to try to figure it out.
This might be a super cool version of the game, but I can't invest in it. I hope you all have a great time.

I barely have enough time as my classroom is nearly ready for the next school year. We see kids on the 29th! I love the interactions and volume of posts. Eris it can be a bit daunting but stick with it and get a post in when you can, though I understand knowing your limit. Either way best regards for you and all! Let the show begin!
Alice Emmington |
GM, if you'll allow it, otherwise i'll revert the changes.
I'd like to swap my 1st class hex, the Heaven's Leap hex from my main spirit, to the shaman's general hex, Chant.
I'd spend the lvl 7 feat, which i overlooked not filling in, to retake that same feat, as it must be a spirit provided Hex.
The bouncing metamagic option, from sacred geometry, to switch with elemental, for versatility purposes down the road.
Ulricha the Unkillable |
If we are able to make last minute changes since we haven't engaged in our first combat yet, I'd pick up a composite longbow (+3), which would be more beneficial in the upcoming scenario than javelins anyway. I have the gold left over for it.
Alternatively if there's a weapon like that lying around the town I can buy, that works too,
Markus "Hot Dog" Lyranus |
hp rolls 5 levels of bloodrager: 5d10 ⇒ (7, 5, 6, 10, 9) = 37
hp roll 1 level of fractured mind: 1d8 ⇒ 8
45+10 (first level) + 14+6 (favored class)=75/75 hp
89/89 while raging.
Made a last minute adjustment or 2 as well, grabbed an adaptive hornbow, perfect to ruin someones day assuming I actually hit :).
At 3130 gold its a reasonable investment to hit for 2d6+6 damage at range.
Vandomir Jarvis |
I will finish a little more detail on the Air Corps today.
It is unlikely that this group will be expecting ANY long range support from above. A couple fireball wands should really help with the troll problem.
Not at 7th level, but at 8th, I could start providing that.
Alice Emmington |
Well, entangle has a long range, and is on the shaman spells list.
If the vegetation in the area has thorns, it deals 1 dmg too, if the unfortunates fail their save, or do not escape the entanglement on their turn.
Markus "Hot Dog" Lyranus |
I get a bunch of new option at level 8 as well, but for now it is mostly boink stronkly in melee or shoot at things with bow.

Jorrast Feorte |
@Alice. Thorny Entangle too. 3rd level. Have to be sure that allies know where you cast it though. It attacks anyone in it and outside within 15'
Alice Emmington |
@ Jorrast,
With 400+ range capacity, that shouldn't be too much of a problem. Foes get entangled, archers fire a volley!!
I could choose Thorny entanglement, but the Audiovisual hallucination can distract them as well.
I admit, entanglement last longer, though, and does not depend on concentration.
