Molok Granite Fist
The Goliath once again swings his maul at the wildman before him.
Attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28 crit
Damage: 4d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 2, 3, 5) + 6 = 19 (re-roll 2 1d6 ⇒ 3) = 20
Attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26
Damage: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 1) + 6 = 9
Bonus Attack due to crit. Can be on green or white, if green is down. (Great Weapon Master Feat)
Attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13
Damage: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 4) + 6 = 14
Illuvin
Illuvin stands at the ready with an insult laced with magic waiting for the next adversary to try to strike.
Ready action to cast Viscous Mockery at the next person not in our party to attack. DC 16 Wis save or take 2d4 psychic damage and have disadvantage
vm: 2d4 ⇒ (2, 4) = 6
GM Infinity
Sohar, your actions will cancel the advantage from some attacks but unfortunately can't soak up all that damage. The wyrmling dies. Also I assume you are doing that as your round 1 action too.
Sohar pleads with the group, desperately blocking their blows one after the other, but it isn't enough and a few projectiles sneak by him, downing the wyrmling with a pitiful soft cry.
Molok's three attacks on Green reveal a new mastery in his technique, like a stone rain from a high mountaintop the barbarian is pummeled to the floor.
Round 1:
Thumps, Urth, Elain, Pindleton, Melgrom, Urth, Sohar, Molok, Illuvin, Jax <--UP
Enemies
GM Infinity
The berserker goes crazy, punching himself in the face several times before grasping his axe backwards and leaping straight into Molok...but a comedic voice from somewhere interrupts him...
Will vs Illuvin: 1d20 ⇒ 14
...the barbarian's nose bleeds, but he fights through the pain in his head in a wild death rage.
Reckless: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19 advantage cancelled by VM
...his axe plows through Molok's defenses...
Dmg: 1d12 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
Melgrom Greystone
Seeing the final conscious berserker surrounded and almost down the tell tale glow marking the vulnerable points on the Wyrmling subsiding, Melgrom chants under his breath while looking at the last of the uthgardt who can fight at the moment, who suddenly begins to glow to his sight in place such as the eyes, heart and other such place were it would cause maximum damage.
Seeing the rest of the uthgardt still in the thrall of the spell, Melgrom reaches into his spell pouch pulling out a fist full of sharp thorns before throwing them at the feat of the largest of the barbarians while chanting under his breath, the moment thorns hit the ground they grow rapidly and wildly spreading all around before dulling in colure to match the ground.
Bonus action used to move hunters mark to the uthgardt beserker, action used to cast "Spike Growth" with starting point set at the warlords feet. http://engl393-dnd5th.wikia.com/wiki/Spike_Growth
"Care of the ground at their feet, let them come to us unless you desire to have a piercing of two."
Trying to make the hunters mark a bit more thematic, also if you didn't gather moving it to the berserker.
Melgrom done with his spell casting then proceeds to take aim at a place highlighted by the mark and fire.
Heavy Crossbow: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11
Piercing Damage: 1d10 + 4 + 1d6 + 1d8 ⇒ (9) + 4 + (6) + (2) = 21 Hunters Mark + Colossal Slayer
Elain Botwright
Do we attack them now?
If so
Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 231d8 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 121d8 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
I just realized i can check the map to see if i can get flanking, so if it changes my dice my two attack rolls were 15 and 4, with two ones for damage
Pindleton Montague IV
Noticing Sohar's actions in the midst of the chaos, Pindleton aims towards the other barbarians but holds his shot. "Do we have some way to restrain them so that we can figure out what's going on? Anyone know who they are??"
Thumps Windrover
Seeing Sohar's efforts and acknowledging Pindleton's question Thumps shrugs, "I am sure we can come up with rope. Though these Utgart are from the Greatworm Tribe. Killed many from the village of Rivermoot last summer. They travel with a White Dragon. . . .better dead now than after it is a legendary terror striking fear throughout the marches."
Thumps Windrover
Having heard the history of the tribe that GM told us I picked a village on the map right in the heart of the area he said was harassed by this tribe. If there is a better recent historical example GM let me know. I figured that with the closeness of the tribes territory to Rivermoot.
Sohar Ko-Chav
|
Sohar gives respectful nods to those showing restraint. "One can hope to be judged on one's own actions." This seems quite personal to the druid. With a healthy amount of wariness mixed in with a dash of compassion and a pinch of hope, Sohar attempts to close some of the wyrmling's wounds.
CW: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
GM Infinity
Rivermoot is perfect, actually.
Sohar's summoned energies quickly bind the slashes and gashes that mar the once serene white scales, and soon (coughing and squawking) the wyrmling awakes, cowering in fear.
If you guys want to bind with rope, its an int sleight of hand check to create a good restraint. You will have to work quickly because the charm is going to wear off in 48 seconds or so.
Thumps Windrover
Thumps displays a bit of a devious side when binding the barbarians. Not just tying thier hands but runing the rope between their legs and over their shoulders before binding them together.
int sleight of Hand: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
int sleight of Hand advantage with any help: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
basically tying them up so that if they or any of them move much they will be very uncomfortable.
GM Infinity
The barbarians are surprisingly agreeable when tied up, still staring off into the distance, dumbfounded at Illuvin's magicks. As the last one is bound however, they slowly snap to, confounded at their predicament. *grunt grunt* One of them goes completely crazy, kicking and flailing despite the pain, working himself into a rage...
Str Athletics: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
Str Athletics: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
...but Thumps' bindings hold strong, and with the warlord's order he settles down...but not before spitting directly upon Thumps.
You now have 5 tightly bound berserkers. What do you do??
Elain Botwright
Elain says What were you doing trying to break into here, and why do you travel with a white dragon and grabs the beserker who did that by the shirt, spitting directly on him
I swear dice give me something here, advantage cause of something or another? Maybe them being bound? She is not afraid to rough them up and is majorly ticked off with her crappy surprise round
Intimidation: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
If advantage: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
Illuvin
"Elain, always trying to do things the hard way. You could learn to use a little finesse I think." Illuvin strides towards the warlord strumming a few notes on his lute as he goes while weaving a little magic into it. "I know you're bound right now but that doesn't mean we can't still be friends!"
Cast charm person. DC 16 wis to resist. he may have advantage on this based on hostility but the spell specifically says "if you or your companions are fighting it" I'm going to feel really silly if it doesn't work. Also, if he fails, no one do anything harmful to him.
"As my watery friend says, why don't you tell us why you all are here."
Elain Botwright
She looks at him and nods, but keeps her hold on the beserker Water is akin to ice, so what way would I do things and releases him if it looks like the warlord falls under the spell, and goes over and starts whispering to the dragon You are not so bad, you're just a baby. Now do you want to be a good child and be nice to us persuasion: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10 Would i know the relationship between dragons and giants history: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (18) - 1 = 17
Well to no-ones surprise the persuasion sucked would I be able to gain advantage cause of Illuvin's soothing singing and music? Grasping at straws here
Melgrom Greystone
seeing things under control, Melgrom lets his heavy xbow drop to his chest while reaching over his back for his axe while moving toward the white wyrming with determination in his eye before glancing at Sohar.
"Outta the way lad, the drake dies, I ain't letting another monstrosity loose on the world."
Melgrom Greystone
Melgrom turns to scowl at Elain.
"Do you know anything about white dragons perchance lass, how the hunt and kill, how they see anything thats not a dragon as food, or maby did you also not hear what happened in the silver marshs cause if not I can certainly can give you a long list of the atrocity's that were committed."
Melgrom Greystone
Melgrom sighs with his shoulders slumping.
"Lad, at this point it would be a mercy to it, any goodly dragon will try to kill it on sight, anyone in the silver marsh's will want it dead, and even its own kind will see it as tainted by its contact with the so called lesser races, your heart is in the right place lad but all the thing will know is a life of hatred and despair, and can you even garentee it won't grow to be a vile as others of its kind, do you want to be the one who potentially unless's another Aruathator on the world?"
GM Infinity
Loving the Faerun style chatter. And dear lord font size.
"Scum. You want us talk to those who walk with giant kin?! Die, and die again..."...
Wis vs Charm: 1d20 ⇒ 2
...he suddenly changes his tone, a hint of genuine sadness "Understand ...one of our member was taken by ice spiders, we've tracked them here."
At this, Harshnag interjects "Impossible. The temple would not tolerate vermin. Your tracking skills have led you astray, and now many of your 'member' are fallen."
Molok, you find a little sacred bundle accompanying the woman with the bone in her hair. Those familiar with Uthgardt would know of these perhaps, akin to spell component pouches but guarded by ancestor spirits. Typically consisting of small miniatures of totem animals and other objects too holy for others to see.
Melgrom Greystone
Turning his head to the Uthgardt warlord just shakes his head.
"You must have a blood fool of a tracker then, theirs no signs of any critters coming in here, just were did you last see these tracks?"
Turning back to Sohar and Elain Melgrom just shakes his head.
"You's be making a mighty mistake, think about this clearly.......I will leave the decision to yous, if nether of yous can bring yourself to do it I will, I might come of as a hard ass, but even I ain't fond of killing younglings, but this be a white dragon and I don't want to take no chance, my kin has suffered enough at the hands of them, and so did the people of Nesmé to want another running about."
Urth Stormraven
Urth watches the new guys argue about the barbarians. He shakes his head slowly when he hears that the barbarians were just pursuing one of their own. A noble cause.
He's got nothing good to say right now while waiting for Harshnag to sort this mess out. After all, it's the giant's place.
Elain Botwright
She saysDragons and giants have an enmity, something you can relate too. We have a chance to have a member on both sides, an ice giant and an ice dragon. And it is a youngling when we may have a chance to give it a good future. I will not disagree that dragons are evil, and if it were older than this I would have no qualms about summoning the fury of Torm on the creature, but there is hope for us all. It is one hit away from death, and should it decide to turn on us in the heat of combat than I will have as much of a problem as you do about putting a divine smite in its arse.
And she gently pats the dragon on its head saying You're a good dragon aren't you Waffles? Let's see how many people get that one
Melgrom Greystone
Melgrom just shakes in head in disgust.
"Your bloody bleeding hearted fools, whatever happens, let it be known will be on your heads."
Melgrom then turns off and heads to the uthgardt.
"So what are we to do with yous, the critters didn't come this way and I don't particularly want to cause yous more harm, especially since it is a noble cause, so the way I see it is we let you loose, you show me when you last saw these tracks and I'll point yous in the right direction, anyone have any arguments? "
Thumps Windrover
Thumps listens, "Harshnag is well known to have defied the reputation of his people his action are sung from 10 Towns to Amn. Me I have heard no takes of like-minded white dragons. Perhaps Harshnag has the best insight on this."
GM Infinity
Harshnag steps up, looks over the massive granite door for a moment before pushing it open rather easily. He looks down on Thumps "The White dragons of the North are like children with wooden swords, striving to prove to their fathers they can be just as murderous. KoChav has my highest respect, should he wish to spare it...but the wyrmling may not enter the temple. Who knows what wrath of the giant gods that would bring upon us..."
GM Infinity
Within, a thick frost clings to every surface of this 100-foot-high vaulted chamber. Seven enormous statues dominate the room. The largest of them is an 80-foot-tall robed giant, his arms outstretched and his face hidden beneath a stony cowl, facing a glowing archway in the east wall. Kneeling in rows to each side of this statue are six statues half its size, each impressive in its own right and depicting a paragon of a type of giant: hill, stone, frost, fire, cloud, and storm. These smaller statues face the bigger one in the room’s center. In their outstretched arms, five of the giants hold weapons — gifts for their All-Father. Only the frost giant statue is unarmed.
The archway is 40 feet wide and 40 feet tall. Six different runes are carved into it, each one inlaid with mithral, and a glowing mist fills the arch. Niches in the walls on either side of it contain empty, ice-covered sconces made of iron.
Bit of a puzzle here. Archway appearance is on slide 1. Room and zoomed out map is on slide 2.
GM Infinity
Mel, na, these aren't the runes used in the giant language. Giant language (written) uses the Dethek script (shared with Dwarves) but this isnt Dethek. These are more like special, ancient, magical symbols no one knows (even most giants). The party has only encountered them once before, in the Cloud Giant's castle, but I believe Pindleton copied them IC.
Melgrom Greystone
"I am afraid your companion is most likly lost then lads, I suggest you take your dead and return home, tho we will keep an eye out for any signs of the critters and your companion, and I vow on the honor my clan, if I find any signs of them, I will retrieve them if they still live otherwise return their body to your tribe so they can be buried in your customs, to this I swear, but for now yous have to leave this place, it is sacred ground and you's do not belong here, I want yehs to swear on the name of your tribe not to return here."
Melgrom will dismiss his layer of thorn on the ground if they agree, also is the frost giant statue in the same pose as the others?
Urth Stormraven
Urth walks past the mess and enters the hall surveying the statues and anything else.
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
"Harshnag, you may have to put a giant-sized weapon in the hands of the frost giant statue as a dedication to the All-Father." Urth suggests.
