Because the invisibility spell is affecting a target instead of an area, you cannot use dispel magic in this way. This is because you need to have line of sight with the target in order to aim such a spell, which you do not have because you cannot see the target.
Target or Targets: Some spells have a target or targets. You cast these spells on creatures or objects, as defined by the spell itself. You must be able to see or touch the target, and you must specifically choose that target. You do not have to select your target until you finish casting the spell.
That said, because Archibald is pointing you out where the foe is, you can attempt to target the dispel by touch. That involves moving to an adjacent square and performing a successful touch attack (hit the touch AC and do not fail the total concealment 50% mischance).
What do you think about it? Any different interpretation?

Just curious, so would it work like Shocking Grasp in that case. And stay active until discharged? So as long as he doesn't touch something else he can keep trying?
GM Rutseg
The rulings are not clear about what happens when you try to deliver a 'Target' type spell by touch. Thus I will assume they behave exactly as 'Touch' spells.
That means indeed it will happen as with shocking grasp and Lamare is free to keep the charge as long as he does not discharge it or cast a new spell ;)
By the way, I was not 100% sure about attacks of opportunity and total concealment and thus rechecked up the rules:
You can't execute an attack of opportunity against an opponent with total concealment, even if you know what square or squares the opponent occupies.
Also the line of sight link up is broken, try this one instead.

1 person marked this as a favorite.
Plans A and B didn't turn out so hot, to be sure. But I feel good about plan C: grapple the scary spellcaster until we can land a dispel.
Remind me next time that See Invisibility is no good without the Dispel Magic one-two-punch. I should have cast it on Lamare! Lesson learned, I suppose.

Thanks all of you!
It has been a great game, and this last battle has resulted in a particularly interesting combat.
I hope you have enjoyed the game. If you have any suggestion to improve how this particular scenario can be better run, or about how can I improve the GM techniques, just let me know.
Also any question about whatever have happened or how you could have done anything different, or the why of anything, just ask :)

Big Thanks GM! Was a really fun game, I like a challenge and this definitely was.
Game question: So basically she was working on a list of possible names of people in the Ten, but didn't actually know them? Or it was some kind of code and the real list was in there??

Agree with everyone some very fun and challenging (both for us as players and you as a GM) encounters. So thank you for running this Rutseg! I had a blast.
GM Rutseg
So now, this is the real end of the scenario. I am sorry for the previous, but it was really needed to achieve a real surprise :)
Do not fear about having lost Torch, the scenario intends for that to happen, even if it let's open the possibility for a defeat.
About the list, it is not stated if the list is taken by Torch or not, in fact it seems non important, what is really important is what Ouidda whispers to him. Which is unknown also by the GM. I am really curious to see how this plot develops. I think Kleetus pointed out he played a 5th season scenario where Torch reappears, which one is it? Do you remember?
As said before, any critic for improvement will be also very well received (from PbP flow mechanics, communication or misunderstood mechanics). You can MP if you prefer not to make it public.
Those of you of level 7 who want to continue playing PbP, I have a #4-08: The Cultists Kiss (Tier 7-11) recruitment currently open for Gameday 4.
Last, let me know about anything you want me to point out in your chronicles, like Faction Journal Cards goals or shared spells.

Yep: Destiny of the Sands, part 1: A Bitter Bargain.
Also, would you say that we resolved a combat encounter nonviolently in the course of this adventure?

GM Rutseg, thanks again! Well done and lots of fun. It was great to see Unnvar teetering on the edge of death a couple of times.
Yes, my guess based on the story arc development was that Torch was meant to escape. Though capturing him would have been epic! (Should have gone for a grapple.)
Torch appears in person in 5-12: Destiny in the Sands, Part 1 - A Bitter Bargain - he shows up is Osirian. And I think he is mentioned in Part 2 and 3, but you don't actually see him, if I recall correctly. I think that's the last we see of him, I don't think he appears in Season 6 at all? (Correct me if I'm wrong.)

You'd be correct. People needed a break from Torch at that point; after all, he did what he did in this scenario and then it's revealed that he stole [redacted] at the end of [redacted]
Now can we make purchases at the end of the scenario? I certainly have a few I'd like to make.

I have gm all of the trilogy. There something that the dm will know that players will have big difficulty to understand. I hope he will back in this season and after. He is starting to become a big player.

Playing it was difficult. GMing it is a pleasure.

I am preparing the chronicles now. Just make sure to tell me anything relevant, like slow progression, or faction goals to be recorded.
I also want to record boons so lets see if someone gets one:
GM: 1d20 ⇒ 12
Archer: 1d20 ⇒ 13
Archibald: 1d20 ⇒ 10
Farg: 1d20 ⇒ 20
Kleetus: 1d20 ⇒ 2
Lamare: 1d20 ⇒ 18
Unnvar: 1d20 ⇒ 18
Boon of players choice on a natural roll of 1 or 20
**Re-Rolls not allowed on boons**
And Farg got a boon! Congratulations! :)
See your MP to choose among the different possibilities (organizers do not want us to publish the boons in the forums publically).

Day Job + Crafters Fortune: 1d20 + 5 + 13 ⇒ (20) + 5 + 13 = 38
Fast track progression, and Archy is nominally part of the Grand Lodge.
GM Rutseg
Please, let me know if everything is ok in the scenario chronicles.
You do not need an account in Dropbox, if it requests to long in, just click on the Download button. It should allow you to get the file without more difficulties.
I can only commit to have the files around for 1 year, so make sure you get it ;)

Forgot my dayjob ! heal: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16
DM roll ! heal: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (14) + 12 = 26

Looks good. Thanks for running!

Ew lucky Farg! Fun fact this is actually the first time in 7 or so online game days that any character in my game got a boon!
Anyways thank you very much for running Rutseg! Also I very much appreciated the fact that you pulled tricks on us at the end there...
GM Rutseg
Lamare, your Dayjob has been fixed (I assume your roll is because a Temple vanity or something similar).
I will need Farg's email for the VC to send him the boon, and then we will be good to report.
Thanks all of you for gaming together, I would have loved to see your reactions on Torch betrayal ;)
