Iron Gods: Iron maps;

Welcome to the Rivalry's End Scenario! Those successful will see develop a relevant piece of metaplot for the Pathfinder Society.

Let's hope we enjoy together a great time while striking a powerful blow to a long running enemy of the Society.
This is the information I want you to fill up (you can copy&paste the form):
Character name:
PFS number:
Day job roll:

Most important thing, if you have any doubt about anything, or you feel I am missing something, let me know! You can use private message if you prefer not to post a public one.

I will give 1 day for you to sign in here answering to my invitation. If you feel you need more time to update a recently levelled character, report so in this discussion thread and you will have an extra day while the Gameplay thread warms up!

Be kind to the other players and have fun!

Hi GM Rutseg! Thank you for selecting Farg for this journey! He is currently in a game but it will be wrapped up by Saturday.

Farg
PFS #37010-2
Day job: Gambler 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9

Farg is easily defined by one word, at least if you ask Farg: awesome! Ever since learning to cast Heroism on himself Farg bathes in his own awesomeness for 100 minutes per day and hopes others enjoy it just as much as he does. While being brutal, scrupulous and condescending having Farg on your team might be annoying at times it's always a blast.
Farg can kick ass like the big guys, unlock chests like the small guys and know stuff like the smart guys! A true Pathfinder through and through!

Unnvar the Solemn
90071-2 (the Exchange)
Day job Profession (Baker): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20

Unnvar is a rough and tumble half-orc who had a rough upbringing on the outskirts of an orc tribe in Belkzen. Smarter than many of his full orc superiors, he quickly learned the ways of killing and survival, always nearly embracing a more primal side he tried to hold in. When a group of scarnzi approached the tribe about securing safe passage into/out of Varisia. Unnvar was impressed by the considerable wealth they had at there disposal and saw a chance at a better life. Unnvar worked to help the scarnzi get what they wanted and proved useful to them. After continuing to help them locally, he was eventually welcomed into the family and made his way to Absalom for Pathfinder training. Nicknamed the Solemn or the Solemn One, by the family, for his constant stony demeanor, he's a man of few words but when he speaks he tends to shoot straight. He's all about getting the job done, but likes it his way, which sometimes leads to some unpredictability. He prefers intimidation and violence over diplomacy, that's the way he was raised. But will take the back seat to those doing the talking as long as it makes sense and seems to be going well, but if things start to go south, he'll use his preferred methods. A recent foray into Bonekeep saw him meet his match and his maker, luckily he had earned enough favors with the family to be restored. But now he owes a few favors. The death experience has had a profound effect on Unnvar making him more unpredictable than ever. Sometimes gun shy and other times reckless. Still he's a man who tends to find a way to get the job done.

Thanks for running this game GM Rutseg, really looking forward to it. BTW Unnvar leveled to 7. I will have him updated before Saturday if not sooner.

Acher
127063-3 (Silver Crusade)
Craft Whittling: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6

A tall, brawny Shoanti woman strides into the lodge confidently - though perhaps not carefully enough as her large earthbreaker narrowly avoids knocking over stacks of papers and crashing into shelves. A smile splays across her face as she looks around at her fellow Lodgemates.

Raised on the harsh Storval Plateau, in a culture where strength meant survival, Acher is decisive in word and action, even if her forceful personality sometimes causes her to come across too strongly. She is a friendly sort however, and quick to take people at their word, though the rager holds harsh grudges against those who break such initial trust. After descending the Plateau and leaving behind a clan where she never quite fit into (for she was never as resilient or fierce as her peers, even if she was uncommonly lucky...), Acher joined the Pathfinder Society hoping that in her work with them she might finally understand what path is waiting for her. After multiple delves into River Kingdoms ruins, Acher is excited to return to Varisia.

Kleetus Doherni
43451-2
Profession:Gambler: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18

Kleetus is a 6'3" (1m95) greenish half-orc with soft brown hair and polished tusks jutting from his lower jaw. He is always wearing a smile, with an innocent, almost amoral look painted on it as he looks at you with wide bright eyes.

Background:
Kleetus is estimated to have been born around 4689 AR. Better estimates do not exist, as the Magnimar orphanage he was left in the care of did not really track those things. Bullied and beaten daily, things might have gone in an all-too familiar direction had it not been for Vermillio Doherni's blundering attempts to patch things up with his wife.
A ruthless Sczarni enforcer, Vermalio didn't understand women. Including his wife. After a particularly loud and costly fight, Vermalio desired to get his wife a gift to soothe her anger. His only problem was that Half-Orcs are not like kittens in two significant ways; they aren't cute, fluffy and an appropriate gift for a strong willed woman morally opposed to slavery AND you cannot return them to the orphanage when you don't want them; especially not when your strong-willed wife threatens to destroy even more of your expensive belongings.

Thus was young Kleetus brought into a world where "You ah such a dahrlin' Vermillio, Kleetus is so lucky to have you as a fadah." frequently collided with "YOU GO TELL THAT SUNNOVABI**** FADAH OF YOIZ IMMA HAVE HIS BALLZ FAH SUPPAH IF HE DOESN'T GET HIS PASTY WHITE VARISIAN A** IN DAT CHAIH!". Kleetus grew strong, with his newfound mother Djeana and paternal grandmother Manabisii helping ("Mange, mange, you too skinny" "Ma, he's already da size of a pony, if he eats moah I'mma gonna hafta get a second AND a tird jahb." "... He too skinny Vermi. He mange now.")

Kleetus unfortunately never quite recovered from some of the beatings and remained simple-minded. Which is why he was deemed the perfect candidate for infiltrating one of the many abadarian cults that threatened Sczarni operations; to learn the tactics and strategies of the enemy, verbatim, and repeat them, verbatim. The kink with that plan came when Kleetus fully and wholeheartedly opened his mind and soul to the Keeper of the First Vault. Thankfully Kleetus did not see any conflict between his adopted family, and his faith. "Us Sczarni are a organ-i-zation in a more-ass of chaos and lawlessness. We are 'nother face of Abadar's many blessin's of community."
Some within his faith disagree, but Abadar has not turned his face from him as of yet.

But something dark lurks within Kleetus. The shadow of Vermillio's reputation, combined with the cruel beatings of his youth and the loathing towards agents of chaos his faith has furnished him with lay a hair's breath away from the surface.

"Hi! Ah'm Kleetus! Ah like p'tatoes; and paved streets. And you are everything I hate in this world. Abadar has told me; tonight, you DIE!!!"

Checking in! My details may have to wait a few days as I'm travelling until Sunday, but I'm able to check into the gameplay thread. The reception down here doesn't seem to like me accessing my PFS details, however. Really rather stoked to dust off this character!

Iron Gods: Iron maps;

Kleetus:
I suggest you manage this scenario as a weird flashback as otherwise it will have little sense for your character. It is weird as you will be more powerful, but I do not see any other way to make sense of the situation.

Iron Gods: Iron maps;

Welcome everybody!

Still waiting for Archibald details, but we can say we have a ready party.

APL is 6 and thus the Tier will be 6-7 with 6 players adjustment. I might apply the 4 players adjustment to one of the encounters, as it seems one creature might have it's CR not properly calculated and we have 2 Out-of-Tier characters.

There will be good RP opportunities so I hope you enjoy those type of games in addition to combat.

In order to keep the pace during combat, I might jump one player if he is the only one still to act, and give him the right to use his action in the next turn. I have found this is usually the best balance between maintaining the game pace and keeping the players opportunity to participate even if they cannot post very often.

Also, in order to improve everybody's experience, every time you have a doubt, in addition to ask about it (please do so!), add contingency actions so I can resolve the events without having to go back and forth into a two people discussion.

And one rule when you post, if you are unsure if something works in a certain way, try it out, if not, I will just ignore the action or tell you what other thing to do. It just saves a lot of time in PbP. Even more if you add contingency actions in spoilers.

For example:

If no one says against this direction, I check the left door for traps.
[dice=Perception]1d20 + 6[/dice] -> Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
I open the door and go into the room if there is no immediate danger.

I call the party rogue to open the door. If we don't have rogue, I try to force it open with my axe Strength: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9.
GM answer:

Great contingencies post! Thanks for helping the action to keep moving!

The door seems to have no traps at all. When you try to open it, you discover it is locked. You call the rogue and he take 20 for total 26 unlocks it.

Your torch light goes inside the room, and you see a big birthday cake. All of a sudden your Pathfinder friends come out around and greet you all "Happy birthday!"

That saves us from expending 3 days checking questions and answers back and forth to decide where to go and what happens with it.

Character audit

    Archer
  • I believe you have 1 build point still to spend
  • Your Will save is +5 instead of +4 thanks to your traits
  • Include your armor penalty in your Acrobatics and Climb skills please
  • Your raging Fort should be 12 instead of 10
  • Your non-raging Earthbreaker should be +9 (2d6+7) rather than +6 (2d6+6)
  • I suggest you add a Power attack entry for your Earth breaker
  • Your non-raging sling should be +6 (1d4+4)
  • Add Caster level and Concentration to your Spells section please
  • Add a short summary to your powers or at least provide links to the official PRD please
    Archibald
  • I suggest to add your race to the sheetf30
  • I believe you lack 1 feat (perhaps the human bonus feat?)
  • I think you have still 2 build points to spend, and to add the level 4 characteristics increase
  • Your saves seem all three 1 point too high. Might you have forgotten to note in your profile a cloak of resistance?
  • I believe the bonus with your quarterstaff should be +6 instead of +7
  • I counted you have spent 29 ranks in skills, but it seems you should have 56 by now (I fear you might have not alocated points since level 5)
  • 1 level of your favoured class you seem to have not spent in HP, might have you forgotten?
  • Concentration should be +12 instead of +11
  • It seems you have not prepared all your spell slots: two 2nd level, one 3rd level and one 4th level (if you left it open on purpose I think it is better to mark it somehow)
    Farg
  • Take attention on the Tusked bite attack, as it is considered a secondary natural attack and thus made at a -5 when using a full-attack action instead of that +8.
  • I think your bonus with the shortbow is +6 instead of +5.
  • Even if Uncanny dodge negates some flat-footed situations, I think you should keep your FF AC at 18 instead of 20 to avoid any misleading.
  • Note for some weird reason Archeologist does not give Disable Device as a class skill. Your Disable Device should be +10 (2 Dex, 4 ranks, 2 archetype, 2 tools).
  • I think your Profession (gambler) bonus should be +2, because it is based on Wis.
  • You have spent 32 ranks but have 30 +3 from favored class = 33 available.
  • I think you should have only 4 known level 1 spells (you can buy a Page of spell knowledge to get that 5th).
  • I would appreciate if you clarify what is loaded in your Springloaded wrists sheaths, or if nothing is loaded in.

    Profile recommendations:
  • Write a break-out of your AC, skills and saves bonuses
  • Add section with your characteristics increases
  • Add a favourite class section explaining how you allocate that bonus every level
  • Add links to your class, archetypes, feats, traits and other powers with the tag
  • Do not forget to state your BAB, CMB and CMD
  • Spoilers are great to maintain the focus on the most relevant stats.
  • But try not to over do it, as then it becomes more difficult to scan the profile and open the most common stats.
  • Add a list of your chronicles and any boons within a PFS spoiler.
  • A link to your chronicles (scanned or in PDF) is a very nice addition, for transparency reasons. Dropbox and Google Drive allows for an easy and cheap way to do this. You can manage your characters in folders or ZIP files.

The rest of you, I will try to provide feedback as soon as possible,

Have a good weekend! :D

Hi Rutseg!

I've updated most of my sheet. I'm curious as to where you're getting some of the math though. While I certainly wouldn't mind the Fort and Will boosts, I'm not seeing how you got to 12 and 5.

(Raging Fort = 4 base from class + 4 Ability (19 Con) + 2 luck + 1 cloak = 11?)

(Will = 1 base + 2 luck + 1 trait + 1 cloak - 1 ability = 4?

Iron Gods: Iron maps;

Archer@ Raging Vitality gives you an extra +2 Con boost while ragging. The +1 to Will is from your auspicious tattoo trait bonus.

Farg@ perhaps I did not understood it properly, but I guessed your bite attack came from your Tusked trait which gives you a bite with a -5 to attack when using it as a full-round action.

Kleetus@ you can copy your image in the forum with the "Copy url image origin" option from the contextual menu of your browser. Then in Google slides, you do Insert>Image>From Url and you paste there the url of your Paizo image. Afterwards you only have to resize to a tile size :)

I've been holding back on posting; as much as I want to I know Kleetus is simple minded and I don't want to get people in trouble or end up failing our mission because of his simple mindedness. With that said, I came to a decision today and I'm going to post more, no matter what that entails.

Archer@ I see! I forgot to count the -1 Wis perhaps :)

Lemure@ we need a token to represent you in the map. Please, look for an image to be set in your profile. You can manage this from My Pathfinder Society account page, clicking over the Edit button for your character.

I would say let Archibald step around the corner and deliver a lightning bolt!

Ok as for the bit of luck. I accept it. Kleetus is invisible. So i will delay or move to be in the map for now. As for the bit of luck, this is my power of archetype. In the conservative interpretation you take one domain you give it to other like it is yours. So that mean i can give bit of luck in a 30 ft radius to someone.

Folks if you want this to be a team effort you're gonna have to put more consideration into your positioning.

Lamare what's the range on that channel? Will it reach me and Kleetus? If not can you move up a little?

I have a brand new wand of selective spell, but not as many lightning bolts prepared as I probably could do (it can be so hard to get a bead!).

My time zone difference seems to be coming up more than it does in my other games. For the record I'm in GMT+10 in Sydney, and will check in daily but it might be at some sporadic hours, particular as I'm involved in a play Wednesday-Saturday next week. Should smooth out when rehearsal/show week are wrapped up. :)

I have a casting of Bull's Strength prepared, as well as a long duration Heroism. Who can put them to the best use? (Alternatively Archy can cast them on himself and Beast Shape into a frontliner, but his low AC and hp make that option a last resort.)

Iron Gods: Iron maps;

In addition to take 10 in Stealth and Perception, would you like me to assume you check any door with take 20 before opening it?

Or do you prefer for the 'trapper' of the group to actually work out and enjoy that role?

If no one of you enjoys having to roll meticulously at every door, you should choose who is your 'rogue' and I will assume everybody waits for him to take 20 before opening doors, chests and similar things, even if it is another player who triggers the 'go ahead an open' action.

If one of you has build up his role heavily to be the trapper and want to enjoy it, then just volunteer and tell us which is your preference. I will just request this person to be fairly active and able to post at least twice a day.

Also, now that you have seen my style to manage encounters, let me know how well it fits to your own preferences, what has shocked you and any suggestion you have about it.

So far, I am satisfied with the group :)

I am only worried a bit about Lamare, please let us know if we can make things easier for you.

Please include this in your answers:
- Do you prefer to assume 20 or to wait for the trapper to act?
- Whom do you choose to do the checks?
- Any feedback you might have about how we are dealing with combat.

Taking 20 sounds fine to me, but I can't speak for anybody but myself, as I've got no trapfinding skills to speak of.

Combat looks fine to me! If I'm too slow checking in and you wish to move on though I'm happy for you to bot me for a round if it helps make things smoother. :)
