Lina the Unbroken
Oh, Neri. Just suck it up and cast Freedom of Movement.
EDIT: ...which is not on your spell list. Hmm.
Although with another mythic tier or two, Lina should make a pretty excellent anti-grappler.
Neri Voler
Well... I think Neri is officially in his element, at least for this round... or maybe he just removed the wolves from theirs? :| That took forever to post.
Also: Nope. And I can't even use Arcana to steal it from Wizard, cause wizard doesn't, either!
Neri Voler
Just noticed I forgot the -2 to hit from using spell combat that turn. If that changes anything... :(
Neri Voler
Alrighty :)
Liisa Nemi Lampinen
I must say, out of all things I missed, not having Liisa around to see Johnny's magic is the most regrettable :P
Lina the Unbroken
Hmm. That Fred joke might beat Teniel's story about the scoripion and the pangolin, huh.
Johnny Slade
I must say, out of all things I missed, not having Liisa around to see Johnny's magic is the most regrettable :P
I'm sure the rest of the party thinks you're lucky for not being subjected to Johnny in a mini-skirt. Although...with his high charisma and longer hair, it might not be that bad. Especially since I seem to remember something about all our hair from the neck down disappearing along with any other physical imperfections.
You may also now be the only party member Johnny can actually make eye contact with any more.
Neri Voler
I didn't mean run. I meant get off the stage. Booooooooooooo.
Johnny Slade
I maintain that my original interpretation was correct (If you want, next time I can cast blindness/deafness on your first). ;-P
Neri Voler
It occurs to me that Neri can take 20 on a knowledge check for the low, low price of Coup de Grace'ing the Gem-wolf. Unless you guys have other plans.
Lina the Unbroken
Hmm, Lina wanted to try tearing out the gems with her bare hands first... and then either absorbing them or making them into jewelry...
Lina the Unbroken
Neri, if you're going to coup de grace for info, use your fist. Critical damage is 2d3, nonlethal.
Neri Voler
Looking at Magus Arcana, we come upon this gem:
Benefit: The magus can reroll any concentration check he has just made with a +4 bonus. He must use this ability after the roll is made, but before the roll’s outcome is determined. The magus must take the second roll, even if it is worse. The magus can use this ability once per day.
The 'gem' part is that it doesn't do anything. It is impossible not to know if your concentration check succeeded after you have seen the number... barring maybe disruptive or a held attack that hasn't been used yet?
Lina the Unbroken
Also, for a 1/day, it's really low-powered.
Then again, I'm generally of the opinion (at least, after the ACG errata) that the best magus arcana is Hexcrafter>nothing but witch hexes.
EDIT: Also, a nonlethal coup de grace doesn't typically force fort save or die, which is why I suggested it (although it can, if the target is already converting nonlethal into lethal).
Neri Voler
Takes more than a round to determine. You know that there is magic in our area, then how much magic, then can glean different auras - if I remember right. As we have magical effects in place, the first round definitely says 'there is magic'. :)
I always found it funny when a wizard would cast light, and then use detect magic. 'Yes, everything glows a little. After a moment, your eyes adjust and you're able to pick out the other magic from your magical light.' :)
Neri Voler
Three questions that probably won't come up for a long time: Are Skill Unlocks a feat we can take? Are they accessible to Luna if not the rest of us? Does the Knowledge Skill unlock require a specific knowledge, or is it a blanket feat? I'm inclined to think it's the first. :)
Also, sorry if the above sounded snarky, Kong. I realize that while Neri's only on the second round, Lina's pushed forward several... so it's fair that you'd be pretty far into your detection.
Neri Voler
Also, I second the idea of Lina getting the gems from the dog. It will help with her Lassie thing - assuming they work. I don't like the idea of giving them to the shaman-raptor, because... undilluted/protected conduit of doom is doomy.
Lina the Unbroken
Neri, until the GM rules otherwise, I'm guessing it's RAW; Skill Unlocks are available to Luna if she retrains into Unchained Rogue, the rest of us can take Signature Skill (but only once), and "If your chosen skill is Craft, Knowledge, Perform, or Profession, you gain the listed powers only for one category of that skill."
EDIT: Also just realized I know Protection from Energy, not Resist Energy. And it gives me 60 points of protection if I cast it. Hmmmmmm. Definitely thinking it should be given to whoever finishes this guy off (potentially me)
Lina the Unbroken
Kong and Ssetheen, since you're new, in case you were wondering: Mythic Guardian is pretty much my favorite role ever to play, thanks mostly to this game.
Neri Voler
Sniff Sniff, Lassie. :|
Neri Voler
I know Neri's is Evocation/Conjuration. But I'm having a hard time finding -anyone- else. I'm 95% sure Kong's is -just- Necromancy. Sadly, spoilered posts from kittyface are hell to find if you don't remember what you'd asked, precisely. :p
Slogging through ~10k posts is ridiculous. Not gonna.
Neri Voler
Aha! I can't blame Kittiface for this one. I needed to look in -my- posts. :)
Sterling's House - Conjuration/Divination
Neri's Volcano - Conjuration/Evocation
Jacob's Inn - Enchantment/Conjuration
Lina's Fort - Abjuration/Evokation
Harry's Workshops - Conjuration/Abjuration
Luna's Apartment Building - Nothing
Kong's Bone House - Necromancy/Conjuration
Paul's Tower - Universal
These effects pass on to people we 'brand/mark', with the mark glowing strong whatever. I don't have a place that shows that our gem/weapon/armor have any more glow than normal, though, so I'm not sure where I got it.
Edit: Lees is Conjuration, Johnny is 'whatever wagon is in town'.
Lina the Unbroken
Huh. I get evocation too? Definitely expected to just be Abjuration. Wacky!
Neri Voler
That was when Lina was a Cavalier. :)
Also, Transmutation also fits for Monk, IMO. But we'll see :p
Neri Voler
Well, I'm an idiot—should've told Neri to light the arrows on fire. Oh well.
Well, I mean... that would clear the fog away from the forest, probably. But I don't think it'd have much of a positive effect on visibility in the long run. :)
Also... I STOLE THE GOLD STAR. POST FOUR THOUSAND IS MINE.
I am such a loser.
Lina the Unbroken
No I mean you'd be shooting up flares. Much easier to see in fog.
Neri Voler
But flaming arrows would come back -down- into a very thick forest. :P
Lina the Unbroken
Shhh maybe I'm not very good at this. Dancing Lights I guess?
Also—for visibility, nothing beats Teniel's skywriting + fart noises loud enough to be heard from 4 miles away. But that little rascal has far higher Int than I do as a player...
Neri Voler
1 person marked this as a favorite.
Also, as long as Malice and Forethought aren't more wolves, everything's gonna be fine. :)
I don't particularly feel safe, because both of those seem like good names for a torture-murder-queen's icy pet dog-things.
Lina the Unbroken
Okay, so... just read the Weapon Master's Handbook, and there's some amazing stuff in there. If I retrained my Pummeling style and mounted combat feats into Ascetic style, I'd be able to fight effectively with any monk weapon—and that means the fighting fans become pretty good.
Like, dang. (Neri might also enjoy Swordplay Style)
Kong, K.
That first image was hysterical. My wife had to come see what I was laughing about and then laughed herself.
Lina the Unbroken
If only I were there to cast Protection from Energy on someone... ah well.
Luna, remember that you can sneak attack an unconscious enemy from 30' away. Even if you can't coup de grace, you should be able to easily throw mundane daggers at this guy until he's daed.
Neri Voler
Killing it isn't the thing that makes it explode, if you remember. Or at least, that's not what made the other one explode ;)
Lina the Unbroken
Guys, just saying, next time let's sloooowly unwind twine from my robe foreeeeever, Ariadne-and-Theseus style. Of course, to think of that we'd probably need Liisa's knowledge of mythology.
Also—Lina'd be okay to multiclass with just about anything (preferably either something full-bab or good-will save, but I crunched some numbers and the ONLY *bad* option for me is sorcerer). If the wolf does give a gem (and the fog doesn't lift until we accept it), it might be a wildcard; just be careful of your dump stat before touching it. (Johnny might actually want to since in-character he's interested in replacing his, Luna's flexible but already ate one gem, and someone might wind up warning Kong and Ssetheen might want to stay away, though they haven't seen what free gems are or what they do)
Neri Voler
Congratulations! Your Warrior/Adept is now Magical Beast! RAWR! :p
Feeding his gem more of specifically icy death may be a bad idea.
This is a pretty big pitfall. We might be overthinking the complete -lack- of divinity in those gems, but we have no idea what will happen with Ssetheen :p
If I had to guess based on next to nothing... I'd guess Bloodrager. But having not seen it do anything other than what I'd guess are racial abilities... I just don't know.
Lina the Unbroken
Ooh! Maybe it's a kineticist.
Yeah not sure how I feel about magical beast levels. Maybe they're just mundane ice crystals. We'll find out when Luna kills it I guess.
Neri Voler
Or when someone's dumb enough to touch them, yeah?
Side note, I'd think that over the sea is where we'd find the occult classes, mostly. Not that they wouldn't exist here, but it seems as though mdt has expanded ecology as new classes came out by adding societies that used those classes rather than entirely new classes.
If it -is- Kineticist, it'd be hilarious if Neri got ahold of it. You know. Since he'd be mostly useless with it.
Lina the Unbroken
Neri doesn't have the Con to take drain as a straight kineticist. But Gestalt? Absolutely. He'd love utility talents and Kinetic Blade (or a Conductive weapon), and most of the Kineticist's best attacks are Dex-based, not Con-based. He'd be great as an Elemental Ascetic, and okay as an Elemental Annihilator.
Neri Voler
Side note - once we get back inside the wall, we need to have your monks punch Ssetheen over and over. :)
Also, yeah, Elemental Ascetic is actually pretty good... but I'd really need his weapon to be conductive. I lean towards earth for element if it was going to still be with P-dog.
Lina the Unbroken
So umm... Lina has the handy haversack, which means that she typically carries the party bedrolls. And blankets. And food. And... probably the majority of our water?
Have fun, guys!
Neri Voler
Nothing to worry about from starving to death. No, our deaths will be much slower and more painful than that. :3
Johnny Slade
Johnny can make a comfy place to sleep with magic. Clearly, he should have run off with Liisa somehow.
So the people who aren't lost are basically just me, Luna, and Kong right now?
Neri Voler
Well, that depends on how you look at it. I'm pretty sure you three are just lost together. :)
Lina the Unbroken
Eh. I guess we leave it up to Liisa to fix this one? I'm still detecting Neri, at least, as being on the same plane, so that probably means no contacting crystals.
