DM Question:

Can I make a twist on Guinevere? I checked through the NPCs first and didn't see her name, but then again you might have changed it like you did with Merlin...

Her thing would be maybe a childhood friend or even just a secret admirer of Arthur when he was a squire. She's trained to be able to help and protect him, even if he doesn't know who she is. She'd more likely than not be a paladin, or a cavalier.

Even if she changed her name so he wouldn't know who she was, or didn't need to cause she never actually meet him just admired from a distance.

Either way, she set out to help him rebuild her beloved country in whatever way she could, even if that meant being a Knight against her families wishes.

She should be married by now, but she's not. She's got to get over this infatuation first.

I'm thinking like Brienne of Tarth had with King Renly Baratheon in Game of Thrones.

I have been seeing a lot of people get rolls that are all midranged so I have come to a decision. Please continue rolling but know this, should you get all midranged or a large amount of worse rolls if you are chosen for the game we will adjust your rolls to help you fit better with your allies. This doesn't mean you get a full reroll but we will talk what is entails when we get there. Just know that your poor stats will not be what keeps you from getting a spot on this game.

I'll just make her anyway but she isn't that character, just someone who wants to be a Knight and serve the King.


This is Ouachitonian, presenting Lucien the Blue, agile and intelligent duelist.

Lucien is an Inspired Blade Swashbuckler, so on the combat end of thing's he's pretty much your average DEX-to-damage martial. I plan on taking the Crane Style feats the next few levels (which is which I have the otherwise-useless Improved Unarmed Strike in the build). Yes, I know, they were heavily nerfed years ago, but they'll still allow me to seriously spike my AC for almost no penalty, which is a nice thing to have for a character who'll never out-damage the big greatsword-wielding brutes (throw in high Acrobatics and Mobility as my free feat and he'll never be afraid to run right past someone). Inspired Blade allows me to use INT as well as CHA for panache, so I made INT my second-highest stat, which will hopefully allow Lucien to help those greatsword-wielding brutes out when it comes time to identify monsters and the like. He also speaks several languages, including Draconic, Elven, and Sylvan, which might come in very handy should we need to parlay with dragons or the fair folk. I might eventually go into the Duelist prestige class, but probably not. We'll see.

One item issue I wanted to clarify: I got a Lesser Glorious Tabard because it seemed like a cool bit of flavorful knightly garb, and can raise my AC even more for a pretty reasonable price. But technically, it's only usable by Iomedaeans who are members of the Glorious Reclamation. Can we modify that fluff to fit this setting, say that it works for Knights who worship Artay or something?

Edit: Found this picture on the wiki completely by accident that's a pretty good representation of what Lucien would look like. Hair color's a bit off, and he wouldn't have any Caydenite imagery on his clothing, but other than that it's pretty spot-on, down to the blue-glowing rapier.

As for alignments, since you're all knights I would like people to remain within the Lawful, Neutral, and Good areas but I will take Chaotic on a case by case bases. But I will not pick evil character.


Would you allow a character to eventually take levels in Heritor Knight? Iomedae is basically the god of being an ideal knight so it fits thematically and she seems like her stuff could easily be adapted with minimal refluffing.

I can see that. We can just switch out Iomedae for Arthuria.

Okay! I can very much work with this. I'm very interested in this campaign, although I'll have to see how life goes as I go back to Uni (hence why I've been absent from these forums for a fair few months).

I think I'm going to be attempting a take on a smart, versatile fighter in the vein of our own real-life Liechtenauer and Armoured Longsword dueling traditions, focusing on powerful two-handed blows, tricksy pommel-strikes and defensive, opportunistic combat. The only class that really suits this is the Zweihander Sentinel archetype for the Warder. I will also be taking the Thrashing Dragon discipline either through trait or Martial Tradition, since this class allows for TWF with sword and pommel.

On that thought actually, what is your take on the [url]http://www.d20pfsrd.com/path-of-war/martial-traditions/]Martial Traditions[/url], specifically the Crashing Tempest Academy? Could they be integrated into the world somehow? I'm happy to take the trait instead if need be, though I have to say that the Crashing Tempest Academy really really fits the character in terms of its professional approach to combat.

I'm also thinking of taking VMC Cavalier, specifically Order of the Seal with Camelot itself as the defended location. I'll have to see how the feats work out though since I'm going TWF.

One final question: what sort of time period are we looking at? My character is very firmly Late Medieval/Early Renaissance in style (full plate and big swords), which is how the Arthurian Legends are often depicted. However, the legends themselves would have taken place long before that, before full-plate was even possible. Will that be a problem here? I'm assuming not since this isn't actually Great Britain and our real-life periods may not apply, but I felt I should check.

The campaign seems awesome and it's clear that you put a lot of work into it. I'll be checking up on the NPCs quicksharp.


@Nitro~Nina: I did say the Path of War was allowed, so you may take that.

As for time period, as this is my own world so long as it falls between the Medieval ages I'm not going to complain! Even more so on the style. We're not that time picky here.

Yeah this game was actually made some years ago with the help of a very good friend who passed on a little over a year ago. We enjoyed it so much I didn't want all of our work to be for not.

So my character is a Gray Maiden; a Sister-in-Arms Cavalier.

She gets Order of the Lion (commitment to a sovereign) and Order of the Dragon (commitment to a group) but doesn't get a mount.

I was also wondering if, with traits, those that fall under faith could just be changed to Arthurian?

As a home brew, with the majority of traits, we don't meet prerequisites. Can we change the prerequisites to for so long as it's not evil based like from Champions of Corruption or have an evil deity requirement?

Fun but Skald absolutely qualifies and they can be very useful to a group of marial bent. I'm leaning towards a displaced norseman who got shipwrecked on English shores, maybe was rescued from a mob by Arthur or another knight and now feels honor bound to repay the life debt.

There can be a mix of fish out of water levity to the character but he also represents the outsider point of view.


@TheoreticallyYours: Most of Iomedae's traits would fir Arkay and Arthuria's faiths. If you have one in mind just link it here and I can say Yea or Nay. But yeah so long as it isn't evil based or applies to a Paizo campaign it should be fair game.

@GM_Solspiral: There are northern people in Altaira. See Duke Icesworn and a couple of the knights if you want some kinship.

This is PixelsAreGod submitting Blaive, a recently joined knight that certainly has the skill, and needs to work on his personality. The backstory and crunch are in the alias.


I'm going to also be withdrawing. I'm struggling with crafting a character that I'd be happy with, and I'd rather not submit a lackluster character.


No answer to this, but maybe I should reword some of it.

Would one be able to play a squire/page?


I am sorry Souls! I thought that was a statement, not a question! XD

If you played a squire you would not be level 4, you would be level 1. A squire is a squire till level 3. There is actually a pathfinder feet based around this that I am using and will give for free to those who want a squire.

Also a note for everyone: here is how becoming a knight works.
At the age of 8 you enter the knighthood as a page. During this time you learn the lessons that will be useful to you and you knight when you become a squire.
At the age of 12 you come open to be squired. There is a tourney held for knights to come and watch in which you displaced your talent and some knight chose to teach you more.
Come the age of 18 if you knight believes you are ready, you undergo the vigil. If you pass you become a knight and are knighted by Arthur.

There are a few other ways to earn a knighthood, but this is the most common way.


Aaaah. I may need to tweak my character's backstory a bit - they have a few advantages (i.e. crazy-good Strength roll), but I didn't want go the "look at how much better and more awesome than the NPCs my character is" route. XD Probably still a very low-ranked knight, then?


Yep! Though don't feel too bad. Pretty much every knight is a new knight save like... five. They where the last that Uther knighted.


GM Storyteller, I'm looking at using the Constable Archetype for the Cavalier.

Would it make more sense to say that I'm a knight who cares a lot about laws, or to say that I'm some sort of watcher/law-enforcer who's been knighted?
