No longer can you express interest in wishing to play this game!

Everyone else who has already expressed interest in this game, you have till February 2nd at midnight to get you character submission in!

Aside from any minor tweaks we may want, Sigrun is still done. ^^

I didn't find an answer posted, so I have 2 questions to finish of my character:

How are we handling magical type gear, and what is the situation on HP.

Verdant Wheel

Okay! As to the new knight question, I had intended my character to be a new knight along with the others, but not a young one.

The idea behind Ser Kalle the Besieged is that he's a long-time fighter for competition and profit, who's decided to atone for his wasted youth by protecting the home that took him in. He's older, in his late thirties (age penalties/bonuses have been noted), and while he went through the same path of proving himself as the others, as well as having been a squire, he is still noticeably further along in age. There is small worry that he is past his prime, but he is relentlessly willing to prove himself.

If that's not permitted, I can shift around his backstory a little to fit.

Edit! For flavour, here he is advancing into an Oberhau (lit. "Upper Strike"): https://www.heroforge.com/load_config%3D1421385/

Also because the HP thing didn't make it in the last post here it is.

You get full HD at 1st level, then you take average rounding up on the .5s

Example: level 1 fighter 10+Con, level 2 then adds 5.5 rounded up to 6+Con

Top of the third page.

The weapon answer was actually under a bit directed to Fallen_Mage so I can't fault you there. If it fits under the wealth by level rules you can have it.

@Nitro~Nina: I'm always a sucker for a good story. Go ahead and write it up and we'll go from there. As I said that example is the most common way one become a knight. There are some who do start later they're just... rare.

Okay, I'll get Joren updated and then reposted.

Submitting a modified Ser Lamerake. Still working on the crunch but the gist is there. His backstory has a big component that I would need to coordinate with Gawain and you upon selection (if I am that lucky). Let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Backstory:

Sir Joren Ardunn was the son of one of the previous lords of the land, a brute of a man not worthy of the title of Lord. Joren gained the notice of Arthur when he was still travelling about, seeking to recruit knights for his cause. Arthur's band came across a dueling circle where a young man faced what was clearly an experienced knight with little more than a knife and a tree branch. Arthur watched as the young man battled against the elder man, who was clearly toying with him.

As the battle unfolded, what was assumed to be a pile of cloaks began to move and resolved itself into an even younger boy, who bore clear signs of abuse on his face, including a handprint that had hit the boy so hard that it had actually left permanent damage to his skull.

As the fight continued, the elder man clearly grew tired of playing with the younger, and he carved his club in twain. The boy was so dumbstruck that he almost missed the parry that would have taken his head. He managed to avoid it at the last minute, but a scar was left that he still carried to this day: a jagged thing that went from the cheek below his left eye and stopped just before it would have slid into the center of his left ear.

The elder knight finally made a mistake, however, and his overextension put him in the reach of the younger man's dirk, which he slid into the unprotected eye socket of the Elder knight. A look of shock was all the Elder knight was left before he collapsed to the ground face first, which drove the dagger even deeper into his skull.

Turning the young knight limped towards the beaten boy and spoke a few words to him. After hearing the knight's words, the boy turned and began running towards what appeared to be a keep in the distance.

After watching the younger boy run, the surviving combatant collapsed to one knee, and then fell to the ground.

This, however, was not to be his death, for Arthur found that such valor should not be spent on the cold ground so easily. He urged his courser forward and soon his knights joined him, ridding into the glenn with speed that few could match. A healer was called, and the young man was taken into Arthur's tent, where his wounds were treated and his life was saved.

It had been a little over three years since that day, and each day Joren worked to earn the kindness that he had been given.

Even though he was a knight of the round, Joren had not grown much bigger than he had been that day. There was, however, a quiet determinism about him that shone in everything he did; he might not be the best at something, but he would work twice as hard at it, until he mastered what he was attempting to do.

Joren is a sandy haired young man with a scar and quick hands. While many knights preferred plate, Joren himself chose to wear forswear armor altogether, so that it would not impede his movement.

Here is my completed submission for Ser Hector the Odd

Backstory:

Nobody looks at me like I'm normal. It's unfortunate, but true. Magic and might mix up in me like a maelstrom of forces that nobody understands, least of all me. Archmage Markous tries to help me understand my abilities, but I'm not entirely sure he understands them either. I am... unique. That's a good way to put it. We thought, once, that I was bound for the life of the Magi. My curse manifested at a young age; the wind just came to my beck and call, shaped to my will as if it were a living thing. It spoke to me in a way that I had never heard of in anyone else. The nature of it, though, seemed to ensure the calling of the Magi. I certainly took to the studies well enough, but truth be told my heart just wasn't in it. A good set of armor, a sturdy shield, these things called to me, pulled at my soul deeply as I watched the others at their practice. I knew I could make a good knight, that I was strong enough for it, if not for the taint of magic in my blood.

In the end, I found that my very soul seemed to rebel against the learned path of the Magi. The wind wouldn't come when I was indoors, away from my armor and surrounded by books. Without it, despite my intelligence, the magic just wouldn't come. My peers, they would be making great strides in learning new spells, but I couldn't make the simplest cantrip work.

Finally, Markous recognized the inevitable - I wasn't cut out for the Magi. My heart belonged with the knights. There was still magic in my blood, though, there was no helping that. As I began training as a squire, I finally felt complete. I was behind the others, it was true; I may never catch up. But unlike them, I don't have to rely on a sword that can break, on a blade that can be dropped or disarmed; the wind comes to me now, stronger than ever.

I am a knight, but not a normal one. The other knights don't fully trust me; the Magi look at me with pity; even my own family doesn't seem to know what to do with me. I am not normal. I know who I am, though; I have known it since I first laid eyes on the young king. Arthur isn't normal either. There is magic in him, in a way even more unique than my own. And even though our interaction was brief, for the first time I didn't feel like less of a knight because of my curse. I am not normal, but that's ok, because my king doesn't need normal. I am Ser Hector the Odd, and I'll never shrink from that name again.

Is it sad that I heard Tyrion from Game of Thrones saying: "Never forget what you are. The rest of the world will not. Wear it like an armor, and it can never be used to hurt you."

Very well written backstory dwilhelmi.

Not at all, I thought much the same when reading his!

Crunch is done. Will be doing backstory tomorrow. Super excited. I would like to vouch for Rednal if your looking to have players stick around. He has been GM'ing a "solo" game on here for me for 3.5 years. I play in another of his games as well but that one is just a little over a year. We both post daily as well :) Besides for vacations neither of us will go poof :).

Silver Crusade

Hey Ashe here. It was cool putting this build together. Playing it up that Lancelot is touched by divinity from being raised by the Lady of the lake. Taking Nature mystery and Waves seemed very fitting and thematically cool :). Totally went with the 1981 Excalibur movie meeting of Lancelot and Arthur. Hope you like and hope I get to play with you all :)

Backstory:

It had been some years now since the passing of King Ban of Benwick. Lancelot was taken and raised by the Lady of the Lake. He had received her blessing and touch of divinity. Because of this he had never met his match. He had traveled far and wide seeking a king to swear his sword to.

It was a cool morning. A light fog lay upon the river and surrounding field. Lancelot stood at the ready. Arthur stepped upon the bridge demanding Lancelot move from the king’s road. ”I am Lancelot of the Lake, from across the sea. I have yet to find a king worthy of my sword.” The boast angered Arthur. Drawing Excalibur he demanded again Lancelot to stand down for he lacked a knight’s humility to make such a boast. ”It is not a boast Sir, but a curse.” Once again Arthur demanded Lancelot to move aside. Again Lancelot challenged the king. Arthur crossed. Lancelot retreated to the field. There they passed at each other in the Joust. The first lance landed solid upon each. Lancelot surprised offered the king another pass and lance. The second pass favored Lancelot. He unhorsed the king. Calling for his sword Lancelot dismounted and met the king upon the field of battle.

Arthur now enraged and his pride hurt attacked out of anger. The two were matched well, but as the fight progressed Arthur lost focus and let the anger take him over. He charged and grappled the young man. The two took a tumble down the hill. They regained their feet now wading in the edge of the river. As they clashed again it was Lancelot that gained the advantage. He stood now above the king. ”Yield for you have been bested.” Again overwhelmed by his rage Arthur called upon the power of Excalibur. The blade begin to glow. The blow came swiftly. Positioned to block Excalibur shattered Lancelot’s blade and destroyed his armor, but in doing so it too shattered. Arthur stood in awe. Having destroyed that which could not be destroyed. Looking upon the young warrior laying upon the rock barely clinging to life. Arthur threw the blade into the river. Remorse overtook him, he asked god for forgiveness confessing now being unfit to rule. He sobbed over the boy as he seemed to take his last breath.

As Arthur looked to the heavens a green light surrounded Lancelot’s body. The wound upon his chest began to close. Arthur’s men called out. ”Sire, look. Excalibur.” Arthur turned and again was awe. He witnessed Excalibur being extended from the water by the hands of a maiden. The Lady of the lake had heard the remorse of the king and found him to be just. Arthur took the blade now made whole again. Lancelot regained consciousness. He stood and then kneeled before the king. [b]”Today the best knight in the world bested. This is a great day for my search is over my king.”[b] Then and there Arthur dubbed Lancelot of the Lake, knight of the Round table.

The next months passed, Lancelot and Arthur relationship grew closer every day. It was then that Lancelot took his Oaths, pledging his service to the king and learning from him. Arthur now views Lancelot as brother, the two confide in one another. Lancelot had done well training the next generation of squire and stands at the ready to follow whatever his King ask of him.

Here's my Constable, Khadolin.

I splashed a little (Sohei) Monk in there for good measure. As an enforcer of the law, his approach for most things is restraining his enemies and bringing them to justice, though as a Knight (and not a fool), he's willing to make the necessary hard choices when necessary.

I switched form Lancelot to Galahad. Backstory changed. Ready to go and claim find the Grail :)

Backstory:

Galahad is the true son of Lancelot. He was raised in the nunnery. His divinity was foretold. A vision was had that the son of Lancelot would be the greatest knight in the world, and be the one to find the grail. Galahad’s blood flowed with divine power. The blessing of the Lady of the Lake had passed from father to son, that and being the one destined to find the grail made him blessed and touched of the gods. He was a mere 14 years of age when brought to the court of Arthur. What happened next stunned and surprised all of Camelot.

It was a time of peace and economic growth. Arthur ruled with his knights at a round table, but one seat remained empty. The Siege Perilous. Any to sit upon this chair had died instantly. It was prophecy that only the one destine to find the Grail would sit here. So there it sat empty. One morning a sword in a stone was seen in the river in Camelot. Merlin came to Arthur, claiming only the Greatest Knight in the world could pull the sword. Many of the knights tried and failed including Arthur. It had only been a few days when Galahad was lead to the sword. His aunt had brought him from the nunnery and reunited him with his father Lancelot. Lancelot took his son to the sword. It was with ease that the stone gave away releasing the blade to the boy. The tale spread quickly through the city. Galahad was then taken to the round table and before Arthur. There he kneeled and gave his Oaths as he was knighted by Arthur with Excalibur. As he stood he saw a chair covered that sat vacant. In his eyes it glowed with a holy light. With no words he approached removed the cover and sat upon the Siege Perilous. He drew his new blade and laid it upon the Round Table with the others. Though his years were short he sat with the body and stature of a man and knight with his destiny still before him.

Just beware of castles with grail-shaped beacons.

Silver Crusade

Backstory changed a bit so we can all exist as young men :)

Backstory:

Galahad origin is mostly unknown. It is rumored he was born of the Lady of the Lake. What is known is he was raised in a nunnery. Galahad’s blood flowed with divine power. He was blessed by the Lady and her blood was his. That and being the one destined to find the grail made him chosen of the gods. He was a mere 14 years of age when brought to the court of Arthur. What happened next stunned and surprised all of Camelot.

Merlin came to Arthur, claiming only the Greatest Knight in the world could pull the sword. Many of the knights tried and failed including Arthur. It had only been a few days when Galahad was lead to the sword. The Lady had placed the sword. She sent a vision to the abbess to take Galahad to the sword and so she did. It was with ease that the stone gave away releasing the blade to the boy. The tale spread quickly through the city.

Very excited to hear who gets selected. Good luck to everyone

Two Hours! Two Hours to go!

Recruitment is Closed!

I shall submit my list within the next day or so.

Good luck, all

Yes good luck. Whoever is chosen, it will be a noble, merry, and doughty bunch.

Good luck, everyone!

Okay! Okay! I have the list. I want all to keep in mind, this was difficult. I'd kept running through all of the group combinations that could happen and how likely characters where to work as a group while still keeping some form of individuality. Remember, stats played no part in this! I did look over the crunch but more so how you built the character in general. But story, story was the focus of what I wanted and let me tell you... for many submissions this was the most difficult part! But I've rambled on long enough.

I went with 7 choice since one of those was getting in no matter what because I invited him into this before I even set up the recruitment. Thus I took 6 + 1! Here are my knights!

Sir Gawain of Taelen (Amergin the Wise)
Ser Lancelot du Lac (DM Ragnarok)
Catriona of East Watch (Fallen_Mage)
Trimar Deleflaur (Jing the Bandit)
Rion of Carlisle (caster4life)
Sir Tristram de Lyones (C B 380)
Lamerake (ClevrGamer)

Now everyone who got in make their way over to the discussion forum because there is much to talk about!

To everyone else, I will be keeping many of you in mind should someone drop out. As I said, this was difficult.

Good luck to you guys!

enjoy everyone!
