I'm just an average man, with an average life.
I scavenge the wastes all day; hey hell, I pay the price.
All I want is to find a fat stash of silverdisks;
But why do I always feel like I'm taking too many risks, and

I always feel like an AI is watching me.
And I have no privacy.
Woh, is a genius sociopath AI watching me?
Tell me is it just a dream?

When I set up camp to rest.
I hug my EMP rifle to my chest.
People call out to me - but they could be an android.
I'd rather rapid-fire their synthetic souls.
Or am I just paranoid?

When I'm searching the underground lab.
I'm afraid of the android's lair.
'Cause I might cast True Seeing
And find someone standing there.
People say I'm panicked
Just a little touched.
But maybe this damned AI reminds me of
HAL too much.
That's why. . .

I always feel like an AI is watching me.
And I have no privacy.
Woh, is a genius sociopath AI watching me?
Tell me is it just a dream?

Folks, I'd like to sing a song about the technological dream
About me, about you, about the way our Android hearts beat
Somewhere in our chest, about the special feeling

Down in the circuits of our hearts, or maybe in the boards below,
Print boards in the abdominal area, maybe near the liver
Maybe in the kidney, maybe we even have circuits in the colon
I don't know

I'm a just a regular part, of a regular mob
I'm your average PL, plus one or two slob
I like armor, and weapons, and cracking some skull

I've got average wealth, and some nasty DR
My stats and my feats, my skills get me far
A shield on my arm, and a keen scimitar

But sometimes that's just not enough
To keep the enemy interested
(Oh no)
No way
(uh-uh)

So I've got me a bundle of scrolls
It was quite the expense
(Oh yeah)
Yeah, yeah

I'm casting a slow, then color spray, bane
I'm casting confusion, they're going insane

I'm an android
He's android

I keep all my stuff in a polymer mesh
I'll hit you with a frag grenade while you're searching my stash

I'm an android
He's android

I'm lurking around in mind-affecting places,
while mind-affected humans make mind-affected faces

I'm an android
He's android

You what I'm donna do?
I'm gonna get myself an adamantine full plate magical armor
Hot pink, with unicorn skin for padding and faerie wing decoration
And big pointy tiefling horn on the helmet, yeah
And I'm going to lumber around in that metal bulk at 15 feet per round

Getting 115 damage per round and smashing down puny wizards
With my spike chain, in the old fashioned 3rd edition version
The ones with reach and nasty grab abilities
And when I'm done with those spell casters

I'm going wipe out the rest of them with a flash grenade
And I'm going to toss the limbs and body parts right out the side
And there ain't a bloody thing anybody can do about it
You know why? Because we've got the guns, that's why

Two words, laser freaking weapons, okay?
Paladins, rangers, wizards
They can have all the protection they want
They can have a big mithril cakewalk
All the way from here to the starstone cathedral

And it won't make a lick of difference
Because we've got the guns, okay? The great AI is not dead,
It's just frozen, and as soon as the OS has found a fix for the problem
That thing is going to be running again, and it's going to be pretty ticked off
You know why? Have you ever been targeted by a fear spell?

Well, multiply that by 15 million times
That's how cranky the AI is going to be
I'm gonna get the AI, and Razmir,

(hey)
and Asmodeus
(hey)
and the Desimire brothers
(hey)
and a case of pesh and walk all the way down to Cassomir
(Hey, you know you really are an Android)
Why don't you just shut up and sing the song, pal

It's been 15 months. I think this one is not going to happen. I don't think it really takes 15 months of time to draft six Chronicle sheets. That's one Chroncile for every two months with an extra three months to fit in the schedule. If it hasn't happened now, I doubt it ever will.

Scarab Sages 5/5 5/5 *** Venture-Captain, Washington—Spokane

I know people would like to run this for PFS credit but there is something to keep in mind. Unless I am mistaken, Mummy's Mask was the last Adventure Path that was sanctioned. If another AP released after that was sanctioned, I would lean more toward the probably not going to happen at this point possibility. There is probably more going on that we are not aware of or privy to that has placed a hold on the sanctioning of APs.

I know we have been told it was on the list to be sanctioned and it probably will it will just be a matter of when.

At this point its faith in the Iron Gods that is keeping me going. I may not have solid proof these chronicles will ever exist but I believe that one day, some day I'll hold a chronicle in my hand that verifies my undaunting loyalty to this franchise.

Personally, I'm more interested in Daughters of Fury... and now maybe Feast of Dust being sanctioned as another retirement path.

I also fantasize about all of the old 3.5 era modules being sanctioned.

Why is sanctioning so important, just play it, for the sheer joy of playing! Why back in my day....

Well, sure :) I've done this. Indeed, that's mainly how I approach adventure paths.

But, as a PFS player, it's nice to have additional PFS fodder out there.

I won't argue with that:-)

It's important because for some reason, they won't let us apply credit retroactively. So if you want Iron Gods chronicle sheets, you have to wait before you even begin playing.

Shadow Lodge 4/5

Or you play it now, then when it gets sanctioned play it again. Or run just the sanctioned parts as modules with your actual PFS characters.

Liberty's Edge 5/5

Starfinder Superscriber

Personally, I'm a bit less interested in credit for Adventure Paths, because an AP is an entire story arc for one character. It's not something you'd necessarily "swap in" for a PFS character. The ones I run, the players aren't even PFS players, so I don't mess with AP credit for them. I'm playing in a S&S game right now that I joined in book 2, so I got a "campaign mode" sheet for that. I ended up putting the book 3 sheet on a different character from the book 2 sheet, because I don't want to "use up" a character I'll never get to play....

Modules can be swapped in as part of a PFS character's regular progression. And, indeed, the older 32-page modules were better for this, because they can be completed in a long one-day sitting or in two sittings, they give you one level of credit vs. 2-4, etc. They just "fit" with PFS better. This is why I'm more eager to see the PFS modules approved, and would love to see as many of the old 3.5 modules approved for PFS as possible (if any were ever possible).

Adventure Paths take a hilariously large time commitment. You can't just pick them up willy-nilly.

Sovereign Court 5/5

each sanctioned portion can be run in a cple sessions, so if you want retroactive credit just take ur pfs character and run it thru the sanctioned content. for me this is honestly the adventure path i care the least about.

Sanctioning of AP's seems to constantly be a back burner issue for the campaign leadership. With the exception of John, we have an entirely new leadership team right now. It'll happen when it happens, and we likely won't hear about it until after it's done. From my perspective, waiting to run an AP for credit seems like the PFS equivalent of a first world problem. I'd love to play(or GM) one whether I can get credit or not.

5/5 5/55/5

Iron Gods was published at the same time 5e adventures league was rolled out. Adventures League has a format of XP that allows for both their mega-campaigns and the Adventures League adventures to be one and the same with no chronicle sheets at all. I can't help but wonder if the entire XP system in PFS is going to be overhauled to something like the 5e system. This would explain no sanctioning for APs' from last year and no sanctioning for the last 2 modules put out. Because the chronicle sheets would not be needed.

It would mean no chronicle sheets at all but instead a one page log of adventures and XP gained per adventure. (on the regular medium xp track?). With certs for magic items and/or boons found and kept.

Sovereign Court 5/5

to work like 5e you would have to overhaul the entire organized play system, havin seen both i prefer paizo's system as it keeps characters in tier of each other in both xp and gear.

I personally agree, I'm just tying to figure the justifications for the 16 month delay. Not having the staff doesn't hold water after this much time has passed, which leads me to believe something else is under consideration.

Lantern Lodge 5/5

Maybe they just realized they didn't want to sanction it.

It took 11 months to sanction Wardens of the Reborn Forge, and that was (A) just a module, and (B) didn't come with the responsibility of deciding the proliferation of multiple technologies into low levels of the base campaign. It could take at least twice as long to sanction an AP, (assuming a linear relationship), but probably longer, as it has consequences far beyond just 18XP on a character.

Give the development team a bit of breathing room.

I personally think it would be preferable to sanction Iron Gods with blank, treasure-less chronicle sheets than to not sanction it at all. Hopefully that would be a consideration. Or maybe relaxing the rules to allow retroactive credit for sanctioned APs.

Delayed sanctioning keeps players (some, not all) from playing unsanctioned APs, which doesn't seem like a great idea for Paizo's business model. On the bright side, there are lots of other good, sanctioned APs we can play instead of the new ones!

Grand Lodge 5/5

I'm gonna agree with Jayson here... I believe Compton (or maybe it was Brock?) expressed concern with the chronicles for Iron R.E. Boons and items to appear. Additionally they had a pretty major change in staffing and a major convention in that 16 month period. Be patient, it shiuld happen... eventually. I would still like to see some of the older AP get sanctioned first personally.

Let's break down the things that the PFS staff have to do:

1. Shepherd and create new scenarios.
2. Plan a Con-season, including now 4 specials to debut at GenCon and Paizocon.
3. Get the new Coordinator hired and up to speed. Make up for that coordinator's work while the position was empty.
4. Work on unknown projects that may or may not be public yet.
5. Keep the PFS community up and running, including PR and outreach regarding rules and questions.
6. Sanction modules and APs.
7. Things we do not know about.

Now, add in an 8 hour per day, 40 hour per week workweek, holidays, the odd personal day, human necessities and unforeseen circumstances and what you have is a very very busy job. So let's cut them some slack, shall we?

Can we have a review of Adventure Path sanctioning.

In the beginning there were Adventure Paths and there was PFS organised play. The two were separate products and both were good but entirely distinct.

Pathfinders grew in numbers and Pazio saw this was good.

Pazio then decreed that Adventure Paths could be played for PFS credit and that in time all old adventure paths for Pathfinder rules. To prevent a mad rush of ooh we played that two years ago they also decreed no retroactive credit.

Time passed. Adventure Path chronicles kept coming. Wrath of the Righteous the Mythic path came and there were no chronicles. This was mostly understood to be a good thing and was clearly signalled.

More time passed. Adventure Paths stopped getting chronicles. Some People hold off running adventure paths until chronicles arrive. Others say why wait you can replay later. Hang on say some since when is replay good?

Now some Questions

Are Adventure Paths generally going to be PFS sanctioned still?

May we have retroactive credit for Adventure paths from Iron Gods onwards?

Should this retroactive credit if allowed come with any additional restrictions such as only to a brand new character?

I think this is preferable to the adventure path limbo some groups are in

For me I'm more concerned about module sanctioning. I have played all but 6 scenarios and all sanctioned modules. so, I legitimately have nothing to run my PFS characters through accept the new stuff. When Modules are sanctioned that is new stuff. Because I am running out of materiel to run my PFS character through, I play less, I GM less, I buy less Paizo stuff, etc.

While there are three of us on the PFS team, as James listed, there are still quite a few tasks that have to be done. To use a juggling reference, we have many pins in the air. We don't want to drop those to pick up one that already fell (APs) or bump something that needs to happen (Season 8). So it is not as some have said, that we are not going to sanction any more. But it does take a backseat to other projects.

We appreciate your patience!

It is not just drafting six Chronicles, though that takes time to do - formulating boons and rewards that tie into the AP and have PFS value and don't break Society.

It also involves reading through all six books, evaluating the content, and then weighing that against PFS. Effectively taking one person out of the mix for a few days to a week.

So we are still working on the issue, but it is not top priority!

Silver Crusade 5/5

I don't see the reason for people to be so defensive of Paizo, the people that hav ebeen posting in this thread have been doing so in a reasonable manner. There hasn't really been people stomping their feet or making demands. Poeple just seem to be concerned by the lack of sanctioning in the last year, and not just of Iron Gods. It has been a year since a module or AP has been sanctioned for PFS play, and some people, myself included, are justifiably concerned. I think the people in this thread would like a little bit of reassurance by managemnet, that's it. One module sanctioned in two years is a little concerning.

The Exchange 3/5

Do you guys weigh in or consider things like Kestler Gunner has done? He created 6 good drafts of what Iron Gods Chronicles would look like.

Is this something you guys would like to see from the community to help alleviate some of the work load?
