You're right. 53+ million people didn't vote for a woman. That was all a mirage. How about enough people were so pissed she is a thief and liar, and that she stole the rightful nomination of Sanders, and that is what led to America not voting for *this* woman.

Sanders would have won.

That could just as easily have been 53+ million people who were just that disgusted by Trump.

You bet that Sanders would have won. Clinton and the DNC dug their own graves by sinking his ship and stealing the nomination. She can now live with the consequences of her actions.

I fervently hope this and the accompanying financial crisis will be enough to start the System's reset and that this time we will not need a World War with millions of deaths

You don't get a "System's reset" without the deaths of innocents. History repeatedly documents that's not how it works.

We'll be lucky to avoid a World War, and it'll be a miracle to avoid new local wars. But the misery and deaths are still coming...

  • People that will lose their access to healthcare through Obamacare & Medicaid
  • People squeezed out by cuts to Medicare and Social Security, WIC, and other assistance
  • People who won't be helped after the next disaster by a now gutted FEMA
  • People who contract the next ebola, zika, or AIDs under a gutted CDC
  • People who will lose their already meager civil rights and hard-won basic equality, and will be openly threatened/harassed/attacked/forcibly converted/murdered simply for being non-CIS or non-straight
  • People who don't pass as white or Christian openly threatened/harassed/attacked/murdered
  • People losing their meager investments/pensions/IRAs simply because international confidence in the U.S. economy has evaporated
  • People working for less hours, less pay and fighting over decreasing job prospects because international confidence in the U.S. economy has evaporated

And none of that includes the possible EU collapse, more conflicts and wars, more fighting over resources, and ignoring the growing effects of global climate change.

Don't hope for an accelerationist collapse and possible revolution without owning all the people that are going to be ground up in the gears and under the tank treads. You don't get clean hands or a clear conscience.

I can already hear Tina Turner singing Thunder Dome. /sarcasm

Just stop. There isn't going to be another World War or another Civil War. I don't think you have to worry about blue fighting grey again in your neighborhood. The world will keep turning, another person will be elected in four years, and the opposing side will cry and scream that the world is ending. So sick of chicken littles.

This is what I was advocating, but I will warn you that you may miss out on a lot of interesting pretend scenarios.

Time is valuable. I'm ok with "risking" having to miss out.

Nefreet, by the language included, you have to clear the condition immediately, and can use funds from the character itself. " The player can use the pregenerated character’s funds—including selling her gear at half price—to pay for these spellcasting services. In addition, the player can contribute the associated Roleplaying Guild character’s resources (gp and Prestige Points) to this end."

Still, the chronicle sheet alone will provide enough gp an overwhelming percentage of the time to meet the 1k/2k requirement. An early TPK is about the only possible situation where it wouldn't. For even those rare situations, even a L.2-3 can probably scrape up the difference if the rest of the group isn't willing.

I understand what Nefreet is saying, at least I think. I'm sure Nefreet will correct me if I misunderstood. The Chronicle sheet obtained by playing the level 7 pregen isn't applied to your character yet. It is in limbo and essentially non-existent until your own character hits 7th level and you apply it to your character. Therefore, you can't utilize the gold from the Chronicle to clear conditions because it is in the limbo state until actually applied. Having to clear the condition with a 1-3 level character, you absolutely aren't going to have enough gold or prestige to clear the condition.

If you advise that you can use the gold to clear conditions, then you are advising the Chronicle is available for use. If that the case, then you should theoretically be able to purchase items and use boons from the Chronicle as well. You can't use part of what is given on the Chronicle to clear conditions and not have access to the other parts of the Chronicle. At least that is how I am interpreting it.

I think the tickets by sub-tier are mostly a good thing.

But (you knew there had to be a but, right?), given that tickets will go on sale (and probably sell out) months in advance, the most active players may not know what PCs will be what level when they're buying tickets. So it could cause some minor issues in that regard, with people having tickets that don't match their PC levels by the time the convention happens.

Definitely a minor issue compared to GM's not being prepped for the right subtier (which happened to me as a GenCon GM once in the past, so I know the feeling), but still an issue to watch out for. Hopefully, Paizo will come up with a more perfect solution in the future.

Yep, 3 months so that causes some worry about whether my preferred character will be available. Even worse, what happens if I plan accordingly, buy a certain tier ticket, but my character dies in Slot 1 or 2 or 4 or 5 and I can't bring him back. Now I am likely stuck with a ticket I can't use or participate in the Special.

It doesn't break the wealth per level seriously when it comes to animate dead.

In non-PFS play characters don't need to animate their minions every four-five hours or so of play time. In PFS though the minions disappear at the end of the scenario. This means that creating undead in PFS cost more and lowers the effective wealth by level of the necromancer by more than it should as compared to non-PFS Pathfinder.

Blood Money helps counter that.

In the end I'm not upset by the ban, but I'm not happy either. I feel really bad for the people I know who bought the book for Blood Money because it's not a cheap book.

I'm sad because it seems that PFS is slowly getting more restrictive as time goes by and I'm starting to hear more disappointment from my players these days.

It's starting to become more about what they can't play rather than what they can when the discussion of new books and old books comes up. It wasn't always that way though.

Thanks Jeffrey, that was very eloquently stated, and put my personal feelings into words better than I could have.

Agreed! Anytime an option that has been legal for several years, and then becomes banned, it's a very sad day.

Ouch, I feel for you on the Serpent's Skull because I think that was one of the ones that's been in the works.

Hopefully they'll be able to get that one out to you in the next couple months at the latest but I can see why the slowdown in sanctioned AP's is bad for you.

We are about to finish book 3 of SS so by the time it is sanctioned, I imagine we will likely be finished with it. We are planning to play Giantslayer next so one can hope.

I believe the second half of season one and the first half of season 2 had 29 scenarios released in the same calendar year. I believe the second half of season 2 and first half of season 3 had a similar amount released. Those numbers also don't count the Grand Convocation, the arena type of thing they ran at PaizoCon one year, the quest like things ran at Gen Con, and the Beginner Box Bash four scenarios. And that was with one or two dedicated staff member most of the time, not three.

So, there is time to write a story and run it through editing, and complete and produce a Chronicle sheet that is only valid for a few weeks. That's disappointing that this was a higher priority than sanctioning APs.

I don't think it's a matter of 'priority'. This is one little boon that would have taken a small amount of work compared to what it must take to sanction an AP (deciding what section to sanction, collating the items that are going to appear, checking it's all appropriate for PFS).

I understand your frustration, but why gripe about what you haven't got instead of appreciating a nice gesture, especially given the time of year. I have no doubt the AP's will be sorted sooner or later, but given all the recent changes in PFS I'm happy to wait and enjoy the little things in the meantime. Tis the season.

I wasn't griping. I was expressing my disappointment. Surely we don't have to just settle and be happy with the scraps. People have said this same thing the last several years. "Just be happy with what you get." How long to wait is sufficient? It's been more than 12-18 months since the last module or AP has been sanctioned. Even with going to three full time staff members quite a few months ago, there hasn't been any real increase in content. I guess instead of asking why there isn't more content, best to just sit back and wait and hope. If all the feedback Paizo ever receives is just happy unicorns and rainbows, how will they ever know they need to improve?

And since the one little boon would have taken a very small amount of work (even though it sounds like four people worked on it), wouldn't one Chronicle sheet for one of the modules we are still waiting for have gotten more use by more people for a lot more time than just a few weeks?

I am on board with what your intention but I think right now they know how frustrated we are, biting the hand that feeds us might not be the best approach.

I agree and I had that same thought, however I am grateful that they also find the time to put out boons like these, they are fun and contribute to the world building. While, I would love Iron Gods sometime before I've completely given up on Pathfinder, these fun little event chronicles are enjoyable.

I'm not biting at anyone, just stating a fact and my disappointment. I sensed they didn't have time to take one person out of the mix for a few days but they were able to take time from John, Linda, and James Sutter for a boon that is only good for a few weeks. It just seems priorities are kind of out of whack.

It's been 15 months. I think this one is not going to happen. I don't think it really takes 15 months of time to draft six Chronicle sheets. That's one Chroncile for every two months with an extra three months to fit in the schedule. If it hasn't happened now, I doubt it ever will.

One thing I can say is that, having run a great deal of the PFS material across the board, but not all, I, as a DM, much, much prefer Season 0-2, (maybe 3, too), than anything later. The earlier Seasons left a lot more up to the DM to interpret and add flavor and tactics for while the later ones seem more and more to be designed to have the DM act like a computer, but unable to alter much on the fly as needed.

In my opinion, the Adv Card Game was kind of a failure from the start. The entry fee is extreme. I can't think of another word for it. It is basically based on the concept of playing a Pregen constantly, as far as I can tell, (might have changed), and well, it focuses a lot on the same products over and over again. It starting decks and rules would have been around half the price they where, there was a personalized character option, and it either used the uncommon APs, (Kingmaker, Legacy of Fire, and hell, ANYTHING BUT Wrath of the Righteous, Pirates of the Caribbean, or Rise of the Runelords), I might be a bit more interested. But being that I'd basically be required to drop about $200+ US, on a maybe, sorry, but no.

5E has had a noticeable affect on my group, as about half of them decided to split their time between PFS and Encounters/Expeditions. I was honestly considering swapping over, except that I outright loath the Forgotten Realms. But, with a few of the regulars now deployed, and the rest only half interesting in PFS, my groups are mostly on hold for now, just because of the level gaps involved. Far too many players hated Season 6 and Numeria/Technology, I was asked never to run it again, which just further complicated things for what could be run for everyone.

I'd say that the single biggest factor for 5E not being a lot more popular and causing more issues with PFS play is the single fact that the Core Books are not available for fairly cheap PDF purchase and download. It's a decision I truly can not fathom, as even I might be tempted to pick them up for $10 or $15 US, but I think...

Yes, the cost of the card game is ridiculous to get people interested and keep coming back, especially when you have to "start over" every six months.

Keep in mind its nearly a year old. I wouldn't mind hearing some more up to date information, though

I'll give new information. I'd love to hear thoughts.

Dragnmoon linked to a post from over two years ago to start this thread. To sum that post up, I was warning that a plan needed to be implemented to keep PFS (and Pathfinder) fresh in peoples' minds with the oncoming competition that D&D 5th Edition was bound to bring to bear in 2014. The thread that post created was long, and contentious, and basically ended when Lisa Stevens came in to state that they had a plan and things were going to be awesome.

This thread we are currently in popped up because Dragnmoon saw an immediate drop off in attendance once 5th Edition was released, and did not see people migrate back to PFS as quickly as he thought they should. He also pointed out that the "plan" Lisa had said was in place seemed to amount to "continue publishing," with nothing truly innovative in terms of player retention and new-player attraction. It seems much less contentious and active than the thread from 2013.

My own experiences (meaning, I get it: this is purely anecdotal) in the 29 months since my thread and 12 months since Dragnmoon's thread, is that Paizo, Pathfinder, and PFS have lost a lot of steam. My (once again, anecdotal) evidence to support my conclusion:

Sales: I'm sure no one will be surprised to hear that as the PHB, DMG, and MM were released sales numbers for 5e blew PF out of the water. What *may* be surprising is that, over a year later, with a mere 7 products available for purchase, D&D sales continue to blow PF sales out of the water. I constantly hear about how fresh and interesting the 5e take on role playing is. I am regularly having to overcome strong objections (that's a sales term) to get people to buy Pathfinder. Those objections include overwhelming numbers of books, a brand name that is NOT Dungeons and Dragons, and a distinct lack of 1st level content. Those are the big ones....

That's a hell of a good post. Good insights. Good analysis. Hopefully they recover from the transition of campaign leadership.

Can the Axis and Allies miniatures from the miniature game be used for the board game, meaning are they of the same size as what is in the box? I want to replace the current sculpts with more realistic sculpts, and possibly painted versions. Thanks for any help.
