Hey everybody! Looking forward to a bout of adventuring with you all. Some notes and upkeep:

1. If you haven't done so already, please put a few of your stats into your character subheading. Please include current/total hit points, armor class (all three), saving throw modifiers, initiative modifier, and perception modifier. Feel free to add other stuff, such as per diem spells or channels or other resources.

2. On your character's page, please include a stat block or link or some other arrangement so that I can find your character's stats in some fashion. Stat block is easiest for me but if you have a preferred arrangement, that's fine too.

Secondly, a few basic expectations (which I think everyone's familiar with anyway):

1. A quick-moving thread is more fun for everyone! This is especially important here because this is a long-haul series. Please try to post at least once per day, and the more the merrier. Take your time and roleplay your hearts out, but do post regularly and keep the game moving. I'll make sure to do the same. If you know you'll be unable to post for a while, please let us all know here and consider giving march orders to the party (especially if we're in combat) and know that the game will likely still keep moving.

2. I've gotten pretty familiar with the PFS/Pathfinder rules over the years, but obviously I haven't dealt regularly with every class or situation. So if you are concerned that I've messed up somewhere in a way that really impacts gameplay (which is entirely possible), please feel free to raise the issue in the Discussion thread or privately and I'll do my best to correct the issue. It's all about learning!

3. Please pay attention to text formatting and the thread tabs. Use Gameplay for gameplay and Discussion for non-gameplay discussion. Use the [b] tag and quotes for in-character speech and the [ooc] tag for out-of-character commentary. Use spoiler tags when necessary and open spoilers

when appropriate:

4. In combat, please add Round 1 or Round 2, etc., at the top of your post. That will make things much easier for me. Feel free to post if it is not yet your turn if (and only if) you are reasonably certain that your action will not impact others earlier in the initiative order.

5. Have fun and be the awesome Pathfinders you are!

Question: How do you handle initiative? Does everyone act on their own initiative count or is it first post, first action in an initiative bucket?

Isabella always uses her Opportune Parry and Riposte ability if she has two or more panache when attacked. I do not mind at all if you make the rolls for that.

At 1st level, when an opponent makes a melee attack against the swashbuckler, she can spend 1 panache point and expend a use of an attack of opportunity to attempt to parry that attack. The swashbuckler makes an attack roll as if she were making an attack of opportunity; for each size category the attacking creature is larger than the swashbuckler, the swashbuckler takes a –2 penalty on this roll. If her result is greater than the attacking creature's result, the creature's attack automatically misses. The swashbuckler must declare the use of this ability after the creature's attack is announced, but before its attack roll is made. Upon performing a successful parry and if she has at least 1 panache point, the swashbuckler can as an immediate action make an attack against the creature whose attack she parried, provided that creature is within her reach.

Good question. I will roll initiative for everybody, then make an initiative order that looks something like this:

Isabella: miss
Kazzak: bless
Baddies: move and stab Grenda
Jamamros: CURRENT
Grenda:
Drystan:

In general, I expect people to stick to the order unless their action is unlikely to affect others' actions. In practice, this usually means you post whenever you're ready anyway and then some slight retconning is done on my part.

Thanks for letting me know about the parry -- I'll make sure to include rolls for that whenever a baddy attacks you. Just let me know when you get low on panache and want me to stop using it.

Yeah, it's pretty well deserving of its 2.5 stars. It's really just a series of pretty uninteresting combats. And I skipped the optional one (a bunch of dire rats).

Like seriously, even four PCs vs three mites (3hp each, AC 12) is a joke. Or that one guy (lvl 1 fighter) and a trap.

Hey folks!

It's been a few days since anyone has posted so I wanted to check in. I understand that it's a major holiday season for most/all, but this has been by far the slowest-moving of all of the games I'm currently running. Are there things I could be doing better? Is the story not engaging enough? Does anybody need a recap on why we're here, or what we're supposed to be doing, or what's happened so far?

If we're going to keep going, I really do need people to start posting regularly and pushing the story forward. Once per day would be ideal, but even once every 48 hours would be workable.

The other option would be to call it quits for now and maybe try again another time. I don't mind doing this if people feel that they've overstretched their capacity with this game, or especially if people just feel that they're not having fun. That's why we're all here, after all.

Thoughts? Questions, concerns, criticisms, queries?
