Forgeholm will be the settlement founded by the Deepforge company of dwarves and dwarf friends. Forgeholm will be a dwarf-themed settlement and dwarf sensibilities will drive settlement development. The settlement will focus on activities in keeping with dwarf lore: crafting the best quality items, warfare against orcs and our traditional foes, and defence of our home. In keeping with our industrious population, the settlement alignment will be LN. Non-dwarves are however welcome, as are any who would wish to settle around Forgeholm and take advantage of the resources we can provide. Forgeholm will be governed by the chieftain of the Deepforge company and a council of elders which will include representatives of sponsored companies developing PoIs and structures around Forgeholm. We welcome sponsored companies of anysort, whether they be a clan of halflings running a manor PoI, an order of monks running a monastery/temple PoI or team of miners.
"You don't find gold by licking the rock."
Forgeholm will be a place dedicated to the virtues of industry and commerce. It will be a place where craftsfolk will have access to an abundance of facilities supplies and markets. Through labor and cunning trade Forgeholm will rise to greatness.
"The law is older than your blade."
A spirit of cooperation is what binds the citizens of Forgeholm to one another. Through our dedication to order and sense of community we will build a realm where honest folk need not fear the predations of the savage and lawless.
"He who fears death invites it to visit."
The Warriors of Forgeholm will not stand idle simply watching the world outside our walls. We will fearlessly delve into the caves and mountains seeking riches and slaying the dark things that would topple what we have built. Our army will march to they aid of our friends and allies making sure they never stand alone.
"Better wrong with your clan than right with strangers."
Above all Forgeholm will be a community of friends sharing a favored play style and commitment to their virtual home. If you love playing a dwarf or simply enjoy the company of the forthright and honest then you could not find a better place than Forgeholm.

I can not wait for the war between Forgeholm and Taur-im-Duinath to break out! RAWR!
I think this clip sums up the age old rivalry between dwarf and elf.
The truth is revealed.

Hi dwarves! In all friendliness I would like to point out that "holm" comes from norse and means small island.
Just in case you didn't know. If you did know already and decided to name your (presumably mountain-) settlement as one would name an island, I could see the humour in that and applaud you for it.
Other possible second parts of the name(if you are going for that norse/scottish vibe) could have been -heim (home), -fell (mountain) or -hall for example.
I realize you weren't asking for my input but I just wanted to let you know (in case you didn't already).
Best of wishes to you!

Considering that Holmgard commune in Sweden and Holmgardr city in Russia both are on mainland, i think we, fellow dwarves, can live with such name ;) Actually I think about "holm" meaning "hill" in one of the old north-european languages.
We are in the process of discussing our location right now. Hills are not much worse than mountains - our way to ores will be even shorter :)

The original "Holmgard" was the home of Rurik afaik, the ruins of his fort lie to the south east of the modern city on a piece of land surrounded by water.
Actually I think about "holm" meaning "hill" in one of the old north-european languages.
Holm and hill seem to have the same ancient origin, meaning protrusion, something rising or an elevation.
Anyway, it's not "Etymologyfinder Online" that we are going to play. 'Forgeholm' has a great ring to it and I don't think there's anything wrong with it. Just wanted to check in with you.
Best of luck in the landrush!

Bumping up this thread with mighty swing of my hammer... Or that was my WARhammer?.. Nevermind, it's dwarven thread, it will endure worse.
Core settlement alignment - LN. LG are welcome as our deity is LG. LN are welcome - we're dwarves after all. LE... as my busy Destiny Twins said once: "just choose your actions carefully and think about consequences and you'll be OK". TN - we will show you how good is to be lawful.
Citizens - dwarves and dwarf-friends.
Favored terrain - mountains and highlands.
Work hard! Fight hard! Play hard!

Nice post Marlagram. Lawful for sure! Many of us will be Lawful Good, as we will worship Torag, and be on the side of good. But the glimmer of gold is alluring and as a company we didn't want to automatically dissuade potential customers. Keep in mind though a good way to lose Forgeholm as a safe place to do business is to try to prey on out outposts, attack our operations, or misbehave in our areas of operation. We will be good to you if you are good to us. As a wise man once said, "So be good, for goodness sake!"

Very excited for our location, and so happy to have lots of new dwarven friends joining us.
For any of the groups that are still looking for a home, the dwarven citadel of Forgeholm is open to new members. Our requirements are that you be Lawful, and either dwarvish or dwarf-friendly.
Claim your home in the mountains, where the air is crisp, the ore flows, and faces are whiskered!

Forgeholm will be the home of the stout folk and the small folk. Understanding Gnomes and Halflings will be added later (Gnomes first, that has already been determined from earlier Crowdforging polls) if any player intends to have Gnomes and/or Halflings, please know you are welcome to join up under Forgeholm and when a racial change is available (discussed many months ago by Ryan and company since the core races will not be available at the beginning of EE) you can change to a Gnome of Halfling and will already be affiliated with a settlement and/or Point of Interest.
We are deep in the mountains, but we do have one forest hex in our sphere of influence. anyone planning on being a tinker, jewel crafter, gemologist, possibly engineer (haven't seem much on the racial specialties that will be implemented, but it makes sense) join us!
Dwarves, Gnomes and Halflings, come one, come all to Forgeholm!

What dwarf in forgeholm should I talk about for a private personal business matter perchance?
Assuming you were looking for a dwarf to talk to, instead of a dwarf to talk about, you might have to be a little less vague about what sort of business matter it is.
For settlement governance and alliances, that would be Lord of Elder Days or Fanndis Goldbraid.
If you need religious guidance on the tenets of Torag, I can direct you towards some devout priests.
If you're looking to purchase fine stone or metal crafts, you might have to wait until closer to the start of EE.
If you want tips on beard grooming, just send me a PM.

Fellow members of the Roseblood Accord, I wanted to ensure you are aware of the Roseblood Consulate area available for member discussions hosted by the Keeper's of the Circle. If you establish a representative, I will handle the additional process to grant access to this area.

We love to live and work underfround, but even dwarves like to show from time to time on the surface. Being buried under more than hundred threads is not our idea of proper life. So...
- if you like dwarves
- if you like mountains
- if you like to be throughout in your job
- if you like to be direct in your words and deeds
take a look at Forgeholm.
Base alignment - LN. Membership - dwarves and dwarf-friends. Gnomes and halflings are especially welcome, so we'll have no need to build your homes of different height.
Base goals - to build proper dwarven settlement, to make what we can use and to make sure we'll hold what we've built.
Leader of Forgeholm - Lord of Elder Days.
Ambassador of Forgeholm - Fanndis Goldbraid.
Ask them if you have a question about us.
Well, now back to work...

Any individuals still looking for a place to call home please consider the Dwarven settlement of Forgeholm! We are a settlement focused on mining and crafting, nestled deep in the mountains (hills really, compared to the Five Kings where I grew up), but we also will trade heavily, craft for others for a price, and consistently pursue higher levels of mining, quarrying, and crafting expertise.
We will not be undefended, as many of us will be pursuing martial professions in order to keep our mines, quarries and forges running at full capacity. We expect to have a brisk trade in arms and armor, and have had a few inquiries already for higher level gear, once the skills are available). Forgeholm will be the settlement with the foremost skill in the arts of armscrafting, weaponcrafting, metalsmithing, mining, quarrying and stonecutting. If a worthy number of Gnomes also join us we will add gemcutting and jewelcrafting to our areas of expertise.
Forgeholm welcomes applicants of almost any race. Half-orcs need not apply, as our enmity with Orcs goes back too far for we Dwarves to look past our history. But envoys of Half-orc heritage "may" be received from friendly settlements or kingdoms in the future.
Other races are encouraged to apply. We welcome Dwarves, Gnomes (we think Gnomes would fit perfectly in Forgeholm, especially once the historical Gnome arts and crafts become readily available for training and advancing). Halflings are welcome as well, and Forgeholm is currently situated with at least one forest hex in close proximity. Skills and professions most often pursued by Halflings are also desired.
Since the only planned settlement leadership option is "Dictatorship" (as stated by Stephen Cheney) for the time being, we will defer decisions to the founding Dwarf of Forgeholm, Gorim Goldhammer (Elder Days on these boards), but when possible we expect to operate under an Elder Council leadership structure with representation from each of the companies and clans that make up membership of Forgeholm.
For the smaller groups that have yet to align themselves with a specific settlement, please consider joining Forgeholm! We Dwarves welcome you!

I would like to extend a warm welcome to the newest citizens of Forgeholm the Lightbringer Company. These stout adventurers will be a great asset in helping to tame the wilderness around our settlement. In return they will receive the finest dwarven steel and the enduring friendship of the stout folk.

![]() |

Woo hoo! Welcome Lightbringer Company! Glad to have you join our settlement and look forward to our adventures together! Well done!
Aussiedwarf brings up a good point I failed to mention in my previous post. We Dwarves do drink. In fact we have a reputation for drinking prodigious amounts of brew as stout as ourselves! So brewing is definitely in the potential repertoire of our skill masteries. As long as we have the membership to support one (or more!) we expect to have a Brewery PoI. This has been mentioned in the past and we expect to give Virgil and his fellows at Tavernhold a run for their money!

Hi dwarves! In all friendliness I would like to point out that "holm" comes from norse and means small island.
Legend has it Forgeholm was once entirely surrounded by the Sea of Ale. The Founders knew a sign of divine favor when they saw one and built a mighty forge, and the only Dwarven Navy in the history of Golarion. Centuries later, the forge still rings, but the sea has mysteriously vanished, leaving only the keels of ancient ships. Curiosity seekers will occasionally find an oar with an inexplicably hollow shaft and openings on both ends.
I certainly hope that the Dwarves of Forgeholm can also become experts in brewing. We will need good ale to feed the young beardlings and braidlings to help them grow their hair. Plus ale is needed when working at the forge.
Virgil and I over at Tavernhold will certainly be happy to trade with our mountain cousins - if you can tolerate our lawless ways. I've been considering making one of your companies my 2nd. I intend to be a smith, but that won't be the focus of our settlement, so I'll need to hitch onto a group that can train and support mining, refining, and smithing skills. As a CG, I can't actually join the settlement (and I'm really not looking to move out of Tavernhold), but unsponsored companies seem to have fewer mechanical requirements.
Actually, I wonder whether that would be the answer to "What do you do with a 2nd Company slot?". Trade associations, or actual crafting guilds....
