I also think the mmo genre isn't growing that much in terms of player-base. So people try different games, but if they have an older game they like better they'll probably return to it.

I also think when it comes to grinding the reason to grind is a factor. If your grinding to help your settlement or kingdom to wage war or defend against an attacker it might make the grind more meaningful than just grinding to get something for your own character.

Take your time, goblins are sensitive creatures. :)

Nice, busy busy goblins :)

With all the games with heroes and heroines I think it will be refreshing to be able to play a commoner.

I still think WoW has better aesthetics than Wildstar though I haven't played Wildstar that much though and I freak fantasy. Maybe it's nostalgia but I think vanilla WoW had the best aesthetics I seen in any game. All the areas had such a unique and touching feel to them starting from music etc.

Goblin Squad Member

Yeah, that's good information after watching the vids.

Goblin Squad Member

Probably the community building and transactions between communities. Hopefully.

"Arrest that naked man with the bow! He is causing all kinds of trouble!"

Well, some parts of those vids resemble awful lot like a murder simulator.

Some of the character combat animations look a bit rigid imo.

Adding blood suckers could probably be easily started by adding some of the werewolf and vampire skills to sorcerer bloodlines feat category and build from there.

Goblin Squad Member

I think this is a good read, thanks Andius.

It doesn't say in the core bestiary, but biggest difference imo about uncivilized races and civilized races is that uncivilized races eat the flesh of uncivilized races and civilized races or at least the flesh of civilized races, but civilized races don't eat the meat of uncivilized races or the civilized races. There might be tribes of civilized races that do eat each others flesh, but I think this is the general rule between uncivilized and civilized races. Having a lot of orcs running around with humans doesn't fit too well with the orc nature. Now if you would have a tribe of orcs only, that would be a different thing.

There weren't holes in their code. They never promised to deliver anything that engaged meaningful PvP at the beginning of EE until now, with the WotT. Without an in game mechanic for a PvP outlet you would be getting random PvP at anytime, anywhere, if you wanted it or not.

As Tork stated (oh yeah, I am totally using what you said to make a point, muhaha)

Tork wrote:
Believe me I have a gazillion sketches of how we could make this more comprehensive and a thousand additional features we could add. We discussed many of them and their technical implications and decided that the minimal subset workable areas described in the blog. Each additional feature we add to WotT is time taken away from completing the final product and while some of these may seem super-trivial they tend to bring with them a rabbit hole of cornercases and UI requirements that make them unfeasible as part of a temporary system. Them's the breaks :/

They are doing what they can with limited time and resources. Not everyone is going to get what they want, but the game will still be enjoyable.

If you don't like the Towers, rest assured that they will only be in PFO for a short time. The only bonus anyone gets from them is some Civic Assets in their Settlement.

Maybe I don't understand this completely, but a simple system, where you kill npcs, gather resources and craft accumulates influence for your company and you use that influence to feud other companies and get the unthreaded stuff of their corpse, would have sufficed much more in my estimation.

My two cents on the war of towers.

The good thing. GW is adding features.
The neutral thing. GW is adding temporary features.
The bad thing imo. GW is adding temporary features to fill holes in their code, which shows their code is not that evolved yet. I would have much rather seen a quasi-influence system between companies, so that we could have created conflict or abstained from creating conflict on our own.

Settlement mechanics!?

A handsome bard singing about love. Who could resist listening to such a melodic tune?

A settlement, a holding and an outpost. Sounds good to me.

Couldn't agree more with this sentiment. Deliver, deliver, deliver.

OMG!!! Zombies!!! Let me at them!!!

Goblin Squad Member

Isn't the pvp window already a risk/reward system. So the premise would be for a non-pvp oriented group to turn their pvp window to minimum, claim only land to keep settlement meters at balance and find a large patron settlement that can benefit from that behavior to offer protection. Of course, this is not a permanent solution as it shouldn't be, but I hope it will still be a fairly viable option and often seen in game.

Here there are seeds of conflict...

Well, Ryan said no, what ever that means. He's quite the cryptic dungeon master. But this I understand and it doesn't rule out the fact that such a personal unique item would require such perquisites, if you see what I mean. If the only problem is the uniqueness, I do not see a problem for having such items in the game for flavor. I doubt it would be impossible to balance such items, though undoubtedly that would be the most difficult thing in their implementation. Or they might become ceremonial weapons, armors etc... no, ok.

Goblin Squad Member

Are there going to be unique items in PFO? As in: Last boss in Emerald Spire drops the recipe only once with a minuscule dropping chance, requires ridiculous amounts of rare ingredients to craft, only one completed item can be crafted in the crafting process, the recipe is destroyed in the crafting process, possesses a unique name, is better than any item in the previous category of items, no better category of items exists, cannot be threaded or takes all threads, no one uses, loiters in bank. Is it too fringe an element to exist and spend our money on? What do you guys think?

I would definitely love to see unique names on items instead of +5 flaming cold iron longsword etc even though I can live with those also and unique skins. But if they are rare enough I might never see them, which is kind of the way I hope them to be...

@BurnHavoc

The fact is you can look at reputation in two ways. As punishing or as allowing to bend the rules created by the devs(because they feel the simple group mechanic pvp rules are too restrictive). You choose to look at reputation only in one way and that's why your opinion is highly speculative and opinionated(probably based on your past experiences). This is an mmo. You choose to come in and play with other people, not you choose to come in and do what ever you want(as you have probably gotten used to in other mmos).

edit. I hope this makes sense.

It is really sad to see people blaming others and driving them away from these forums for the confusion in their own minds about things that were clear to most of the community from the start.

If you stand back and let Pax do whatever they want, there will be no game left for you guys after awhile.

The only sensible thing you can do, is use the same methods as Pax.
Get those votes and back up smaller guilds.
Unite and make it clear to everyone that you are a force that stands together.

Principles are all good, but not when you are the only one living by them.
If you stick to your guns on this, you will end up sticking to them without being able to play PFO.

I think it's a little premature to predict the future like this. I feel The Roseblood Accord is a bunch of people that want to play with each other and not throw fingers at each other on the forums.

Awesome! I love that +0 - +5 enchant stuff that has a long history. :) That screenshot of the crafting window is so delicious I could eat it. :P

Welcome, Taur-Im-Duinath!

My apologies if this will look hostile in any way but I feel very strongly regarding this topic. This question goes to all members of RA: how is a settlement that has what is basically RP racism at its core compatible with Roseblood?

This is a difficult question. Only thing I can say is that there will also be a lot of RP killing in the game, but I do not know if that helps your situation.

Goblin Squad Member

My biased opinion as a member of TEO is that Pax Gaming is a one guild concerning the landrush. There I've said it.

If I compare Pax Gaming with Covenant of the Phoenix gaming community, they are not different in any way. So why does Covenant of the Phoenix gaming community have only one guild in the landrush? Are we stupid?

Pax Gaming should definitely have only one guild in the landrush. There, I've said it.

Sorry, if this offends someone and undermines their effort and work they have have put in creating friendships and relations.

Goblin Squad Member

I appreciate the transparency of this matter. It tells something about the community, although I still think that a person who votes for Pax Golgotha, but intends to play with Pax Aeternum with his main character, is breaking the rules. If there are such persons, they probably know who they are. Some personal judgement should be used in the case involved also.

I'd be fine with the encounter list showing all characters at a certain radius/box all around the character even behind minus stealthed etc and the select next/nearest enemy function could function in a suitable shaped part of that area corresponding the facing of the character.

Goblin Squad Member

A little necro...

Helping targeting could involve a window showing a list of all targetable characters, which could be used to target characters based on character name.
