My profile's mostly finished. All I need is my revised background and my mount's information.
Is any of my math wrong? I'd appreciate some checking in that regard, as I'm used to using Plothook sheets that automatically make the calculations when you enter the necessary info.
At a glance, your class is not listed at the top. I can't find your cavalier order or your favored class. You appear to have one too many feats, but one probably comes from an archetype to order that is not obvious. Background's empty, too.
cheers

Raedwald of Broughton |

As I said, Background is forthcoming. As it says in the bit on Tactician, all Cavaliers get a teamwork feat as a bonus feat at level 1. I wasn't aware we were using favored class for this. How would we use Favored classes since we don't use HP for this one, do we all just get an extra skill point, then? I thought my class was listed under the Advancement Notes at the top. I deliberately used Brian ap Madog's sheet as a template.

![]() |

I now see what I did wrong. I put that bit in the Advancement Notes spoiler. I've fixed that. I'll finish this tonight when I get back from my various errands today.

Raedwald of Broughton |

Okay, I think apart from the background I'm finished. Again, is any of my math wrong? I also changed one of my traits (Child of Two Peoples instead of Principled, allowing him to speak Cymric and Saxon, and then using his int bonus and linguistics rank to speak and be literate in Latin/Roman, indicating he was originally training for the clergy). Does my mount work good? I confess to being unfamiliar with how they work (never played a cavalier before, and have never really played any other class that got animal companions to the level where they COULD get them).
Also, would you have any objections to Raedwald at least knowing his Saxon parents a little, rather than being handed off to his adoptive father as a baby? I feel that'd justify him knowing both languages more easily.

RECRUITMENT REOPENING
We have had a player drop due to unexpected real life issues, so I'm reopening recruitment for one or two more squires.
The most up to date character creation and setting information is located in the Campaign Info tab. Character submissions will only be considered from properly formatted avatars; see the first post in the Recruitment thread for proper format.
Considering that characters are game mechanically similar, background weighs a lot in character selection. Setting is very important. Besides the Campaign Info tab, setting questions have been answered in this recruitment thread and in the Discussion thread. Please read.
Posting frequency is at minimum one post per 48 hours. More detailed expectations of posting frequency is posted in the Discussion thread.
Please feel free to resubmit unselected characters again. PM me if you want specific feedback about why they were not previously selected.
RECRUITMENT CLOSURE IS FRIDAY JAN 31 AT 9 AM EASTERN TIME
cheers

I don't usually want to provide feedback before selection, because I want the character to be your character and the best submission that you can make. However, since you all have requested feedback, and there are only 3 of you, here goes:
Okay I made a couple changes more for flavor than anything else. I changed his archtype to Falconer. The wild empathy thing didn't seem to fit with the game. I have no plans for using ranger spells.
Why not use spells? They are possible as either Pagan mysteries or Christian miracles, but you need to be clear about what is the source of the magic. There are some changes to magic in the campaign info tab. One of our PC's will be advancing in Bard when he gains a level. If you don't want to use spells, why not select a non-spell casting archetype. Personally, I find the Falconer archetype weak, because the bird will probably be physically weaker than a horse or dog companion at equal level. Both must be used outside: one needs room to move, the other to fly. Lastly, you sacrifice a prereq-less feat for extra 1d4 damage for your bird. But that's just me. Game mechanically, I don't know why you prioritized Combat Reflexes.
And... done. How's that?
Your background has potential but is difficult to read. Who is speaking the first quote. Where were his parents? It's too vague. Create some names and places. What did the father do for cowardice? Where is he now? Please specify why he's in his uncle's will. Please read the customs of family in the campaign info tab.
Anything you would like to see improved on or changed DM? I have a few ideas but I'm not sure which direction to go with them.
There will be no jungle in this campaign, so review that trait. As per my comments to Sion, you don't necessarily have to go spell-less in this campaign. Please specify and discuss your PCs view on religion. It plays a key role in the campaign.
OVERALL
Besides my build questions, please invest time in your background. It will help set the stage for your role-playing in the game with me and your fellow players.
Please let me know when you are ready for final selection.
cheers

Old habits, I'm used to playing skirmishers whenever I play a ranger. I'll try the spells out with an old fashioned strait up ranger though, some of my friends swear by how useful they are.
Added a blurb to the background, as well as a little under personality.
Edward and his family bowed their heads to the old gods, sticking to the old ways. His father always told him "Never forget where you came from, and always pray in private. Respect others views, give them your ear but not your heart."
Edward has a gentle nature about him. He treats other people with a quiet respect and Christianity with a quiet contempt. While not easily roused to argue, if he's baited he argues fiercely against the new ways.

I have very little role playing experience so I am probably not making great mechanical decisions. Why not use spells? well the character doesn't have a high enough wisdom score to use any, the vision I had of him was falling between the pagan and the christian. too secular to work miracles but not pagan. I was trying to create a character that would fit in the setting not one that would necessarily be able to win. I wasn't sure I was going to stay a ranger for long.

RECRUITMENT OPEN AGAIN
I would like to look for some new blood for this game. Characters have reached 3rd level and are about to start leading troops. Character creation rules and house rules are located in the Campaign Info tab.
If interested, please pitch your general character idea. I will work with you to integrate the backstory into the campaign. I will also give you starting equipment. The current players haven't yet earned or spent any cash yet.
I'm looking for good posting frequency and quality posts, as signaled by backstory development.
cheers

Conner of Cabent |

Okay, that should be good to go. I envisioned Conner as a throwback, for lack of a better term, his rural upbringing leading him to be more like an old-fashioned Legionnaire then a modern knight. He's also more used to fighting on foot than horseback, but his dedicated effort to learning courtly manners and customs lets him get by fairly well in refined company. In combat, Conner seeks the unexpected, always defying conventional wisdom to come at the enemy in ways they don't expect from a knight. Though I'm not sure what hero points and honor he would have. I wouldn't mind starting as a landless knight recruited to the cause of taking back Rydychan.
