Feats: Two-Weapon Fighting, Power Attack, Improved Shield Bash
Traits: Firstborn Son (+1 Knowledge Nobility, Class Skill): As is common among boys expected to find themselves amongst the gentry, Cadfael was raised to remember the actions of both his own ancestors and the various relationships among people of different counties and kingdoms.
Armor Expert (-1 Armor Check Penalty): He was also of course trained to function well in heavy armor, as a knight is always to be seen in his full splendor when he goes to battle.
Horse Lord (+1 Ride, +2 Handle Animal, horses only): He was raised to learn to ride since he was small, and has enjoyed riding besides. It suits his quiet, stoic nature to ride and communicate with the animal without talking.
Fey-Taken (Drawback, -2 against poison, illusions, disease, fey spell-like abilities): He was kidnapped and had something done to him by the fickle spirits of the wild areas near his new home. His family saw it as a sign of favor from the land, but it has left him vulnerable.

Background
--------------------
"Many knights and lords went to the ways of the Roman invaders or the teachings of Joseph of Arimethea, but those ways are not the ways of Britain. Their god lives in the sky, ours are the stones west of the manor. They took you, boy, to their realm. You lived amongst them for three weeks, even if you can't remember. The gods of our islands have made themselves known to us through their miracles at the stones and their taking and returning of you, Cadfael and that is why we will never bend knee to these new ideas."
Cadfael was a young boy when he disappeared in the woods for three weeks before stumbling in a stupor out of the woods into the stables of his cousin's house, a dozen miles from where he disappeared from. Since then his family, particularly his uncle who was set in the Pagan ways from the beginning, had decided that he was abducted to the other side where gods and spirits did things to him and sent him back.
His family was not known for much outside of their piety. They had a plot of land known only for its proximity to holy sites, were competent if not legendary combatants, and except for his father, loyal if not lapdogs. They were remarkable in their unremarkability, but Cadfael's personal history may make them move center stage as a knight who has personally been to the land of Fairies.
Because of his religious significance and the zealousness of his uncle and cousin, Cadfael was brought in as a squire. Whether because of his personal power or some working of fae magic, he took to it well. Though the battle at St. Albans was his first time on the field, he did fight reasonably well and served as well as could be expected despite his cousin (whose squire he was serving as) taking an arrow through the throat.
His family was disgraced after his father was removed from his position as a knight for cowardice. Because he was already his cousin's squire and on the way to becoming a knight in his own right, he still stands to inherit his uncle's domain, especially after the recent deaths at St. Albans and the current political climate.
As a result of this disgrace, he is hell-bent on proving himself to everyone he comes across. He thus takes his knighthood and the associated duties incredibly seriously. He also sees it as the British way, much the same as his paganism is the British religion. He is surprisingly patriotic, holding more than a bit of disdain for both Christianity and the Romans and Saxons, though he won't make an issue of it. After all, a knight is not petty.
------------------
Personality
------------------
Cadfael is a stoic young man with a very devout reverence for the old ways. He doesn't oppose Christianity to the point of hostility, but he does oppose the incursion in what peaceful ways he can. He refuses to let any Churches or Chapels be built on his land as his uncle did (though he will of course capitulate to his lord's instructions, and he doesn't know why his lord never forced his uncle to) the deaths at St. Albans affected him greatly, so he tries his best to maintain peace, but he knows that there is not much hope of that with the death of Uther.
He generally tries to be friendly when entertaining guests, but when he is called to other's homes he tends to be quiet and withdrawn. He is significantly less interested in women than his peers, saying that his duty to his uncle, then his lord come first. He takes his word very seriously, as well as his status as a knight.
-----------------
Appearance
-----------------
Cadfael, like most Cymrics, is fairly tall, but thinner than his countrymen. He has dark hair and grey eyes with a faint scar running down his cheek from when he fell off a wall onto the thatched roof of a building in the courtyard of a castle his uncle took him to. His hands are quite beaten and scarred, though his broken bones have healed well enough after years of training with his significantly older cousin. When at court, he wears simple green and white with wooden toggles. His coat of arms is a pair of stags over a green and white shield.
