The Avalon Chronicles

Game Master lynora

This is a high level rules light game set in a school for magical kids, kinda a mash-up of Soul Eater, Harry Potter, and X-Men. :)

"I don't know, but whoever it is is unconscious..." A quick search found no more injuries, but he added an extra shot of "get better" to be safe. He goes back to sit against the wall and quickly starts to doze.

"I am so very proud of you right now," she whispered to him before he had drifted off to sleep completely.

Ooh, so close. Oh, well, at least I still only take half damage thanks to the blink effect.

A nasal, squeaky voice breaks into Michael's nap. "Healer is sleeping? You took his sleeping, made it work?"

The mite yelps and runs away.

"My scans are coming up clean except for the anomoly. Visuals confirm. I'm going to start releasing students from the shelters. I'll try to scan everyone as they leave, but I can't guarantee I'll find anything. I think we need to call an assembly for roll call," she said over the comm.

"Good work. Any idea what caused those quakes earlier?" Ryo replies.

"All students and faculty staff that can will report to the auditorium for the roll call." The Headmaster's voice booms over the intercom.

"Felt like earthbending to me. I'll have to review playback to get specific information."

"So we might have a rogue earthbender in the school?" Ryo asks. "That can't be good. I'll have some of the teachers that are better condition do the preliminary scanning and handle the secondary scans myself if you want to check into that quickly."

"That would be good. I'll head to the lab and see if I can get a good view from the nanite clouds. That'll help give us a run down of how this situation started too. I'll join the assembly as soon as I've finished."

"Take your time. I've checked on our family, and those that are here all all okay." Ryo says before he shuts down the link.

He appears on the auditorium stage and whistles to get the attention of everyone there.

"A moment please." Ryo calls out with the microphone. "I want everyone who can walk on their own to help those that can't into seats. Some teachers are going to walk around and check that you are all right, along with the Infirmary staff. I know you're probably scared and tired right now, and that you want to make sure your friends are all right, but please follow my instructions and stay in the auditorium until the roll call is complete."

Keaton, bloodied as he is, works on getting the people into seats, into lines, or out of the way.

Male Unknown 16 Invulnerable Rager/ 16 Hex Crafter Magus

Enre blinks after Asch and the elf man disappear. He wonders to himself "Wonder if they will be okay." He than hears the Headmaster's voice boom telling everyone to get to the auditorium. He rushes to make his way there to see what is going on. He enters the auditorium when the Headmaster was done with his speech hearing "please follow my instructions and stay in the auditoriums until the roll call is complete." He than goes to get in line for the call once done he goes to the Headmaster saying "There was a Balor. Asch and I finished it off though."

Ephebe moved into the room heading away from Krays so it wouldn't be able to get them both with that attack again. She throws more blades as she moves.

1d20 + 24 ⇒ (9) + 24 = 33
1d20 + 24 ⇒ (11) + 24 = 35
1d20 + 24 ⇒ (8) + 24 = 32
1d20 + 24 ⇒ (8) + 24 = 32
1d20 + 19 ⇒ (1) + 19 = 20
1d20 + 19 ⇒ (20) + 19 = 39
1d20 + 14 ⇒ (2) + 14 = 16
1d20 + 14 ⇒ (20) + 14 = 34
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12

Confirmation rolls on the two twenties:
1d20 + 19 ⇒ (12) + 19 = 31
1d20 + 14 ⇒ (14) + 14 = 28

Not so much...this is looking more like how I expect a combat round to go for her.:/

Damage:
1d6 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
4d8 ⇒ (4, 5, 5, 3) = 17
1d6 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
4d8 ⇒ (1, 8, 8, 7) = 24

The construct charges Ephebe, blades spinning wickedly.

1d20 + 40 ⇒ (15) + 40 = 55
1d100 ⇒ 16
1d20 + 40 ⇒ (12) + 40 = 52
1d100 ⇒ 7
1d20 + 35 ⇒ (17) + 35 = 52
1d100 ⇒ 49
1d20 + 35 ⇒ (1) + 35 = 36
1d100 ⇒ 31

Thanks to her blinking in and out of time, Ephebe manages to avoid the blades, but still gets pounded with two metal 'fists'.

Damage:
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 4) + 6 = 11
2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 4) + 6 = 16

Male Kobold (Adult Black dragon) Gestalt Sorceror/Oracle Necromancer; Champion of Death

Begins casting...
Casts Haste on himself and Ephebe (hits all allies within 30' wewt)
Casts again
After her second attack...
Cure Critical wounds, mass 4d8 + 16 ⇒ (2, 7, 7, 3) + 16 = 35
Then he'll fly up and hover (he has the feat) hopefully out of reach of the nasty...

Imagefemale weredragon (amethyst) gestalt Soulknife17/oracle10/divine gunslinger7

She was starting to feel nervous about her chances of beating this thing before it beat her, but then Krays hit her with a healing spell, which combined with her own fast healing healed her wounds almost completely. Still, the creature was far from on its last legs so she had to be smart about this. Since she was already toe to toe with it she decided to try to hit it with a bubble of rapidly advancing time.

Touch attack:1d20 + 20 ⇒ (7) + 20 = 27

The construct slowed a little as rust spots began to show as it was suddenly hit with the effects of rapidly advancing time.
Aging damage to creature:16d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 4, 6, 3, 4, 6, 6, 1, 1, 4, 2, 5, 3, 4, 1) = 55

She then stepped outside of time for a moment, disappearing from view and reappearing across the room. She tossed a couple of flaming chakram its way.

1d20 + 24 ⇒ (20) + 24 = 44
1d20 + 24 ⇒ (4) + 24 = 28

Damage from the one that hit:
1d6 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
4d8 ⇒ (5, 7, 8, 4) = 24

Male Kobold (Adult Black dragon) Gestalt Sorceror/Oracle Necromancer; Champion of Death

Krays adjusts his angle to hit the construct (and not Ephebe) with some acid...
10d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 5, 4, 6, 6, 4, 5, 4, 4) = 46 acid damage, DC 26 Reflex. Reuse 1d4 ⇒ 4.

Reflex save:1d20 + 19 ⇒ (1) + 19 = 20

The construct howled in pain as it was reeling from the combination of aging, those damnable fire blades, and now acid further corroding its overly worn metal. It lashed back as best it could, sending wicked spikes flying at Ephebe and a ray of electricity towards Krays.

Ray of Electricity:
To hit (ranged touch): 1d20 + 35 ⇒ (20) + 35 = 55
Damage:10d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 5, 1, 3, 5, 1, 5, 4, 1) = 34

Spikes:
To hit:
1d20 + 30 ⇒ (3) + 30 = 33
1d100 ⇒ 67
1d20 + 30 ⇒ (11) + 30 = 41
1d100 ⇒ 47
1d20 + 30 ⇒ (6) + 30 = 36
1d100 ⇒ 53
1d20 + 30 ⇒ (19) + 30 = 49
1d100 ⇒ 30
1d20 + 30 ⇒ (10) + 30 = 40
1d100 ⇒ 32
1d20 + 30 ⇒ (9) + 30 = 39
1d100 ⇒ 79
Damage if hits:
2d6 + 12 ⇒ (4, 4) + 12 = 20
2d6 + 12 ⇒ (4, 1) + 12 = 17
2d6 + 12 ⇒ (3, 2) + 12 = 17
2d6 + 12 ⇒ (3, 6) + 12 = 21
2d6 + 12 ⇒ (6, 4) + 12 = 22
2d6 + 12 ⇒ (1, 3) + 12 = 16

The creature howls again and four iron golems appear, surrounding Ephebe.

Imagefemale weredragon (amethyst) gestalt Soulknife17/oracle10/divine gunslinger7

Ephebe hissed in pain as two of the spikes went through her, but then she had bigger problems as she was suddenly surrounded by foes.

Is that subject to SR? Krays' is 28...if its an attack it gets probably not, just asking.

Knowledge Arcana 1d20 + 24 ⇒ (1) + 24 = 25
Good enough :)

"Ephebe! Watch out for the poison they breath! Try to stay away from them!"
Casts
Chain Lightning; it will hit all of them. I dunno what the effecto nthe baddie will be, but the iron golems will be slowed for 3 rounds, no save. They do not take damage, however.

That ray of electricity looks like a crit threat. Poor Krays.

.... wrote:

Oh, crap, I missed that...eek. Also, no it's not subject to SR. It's not a spell. It's actual electricity. Since this thing is a walking generator with lots of pointy bits.

Roll to confirm critical threat on electricity ray: 1d20 + 35 ⇒ (1) + 35 = 36

Yay, looks like not a critical hit after all.:)

When I saw the '1', my first thought was 'dang'.
On the one hand, I like Krays. On the other, it'd be anticlimactic if the golem didn't kill anybody, wouldn't it?
;)

Imagefemale weredragon (amethyst) gestalt Soulknife17/oracle10/divine gunslinger7

"Staying away! Sounds like a great idea!" she said, once again stepping outside of time for a moment in order to get out from being surrounded by golems. She reappeared and immediately started throwing chakram at the boss construct.

1d20 + 24 ⇒ (8) + 24 = 32
1d20 + 24 ⇒ (19) + 24 = 43
1d20 + 24 ⇒ (7) + 24 = 31
1d20 + 24 ⇒ (17) + 24 = 41
1d20 + 19 ⇒ (16) + 19 = 35

1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22

Most of the blades went wild as it was hard to aim at something that had so many spinning bits, but two sunk in solidly.

Damage:
1d6 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
4d8 ⇒ (7, 3, 6, 4) = 20
1d6 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
4d8 ⇒ (7, 4, 7, 1) = 19

144 hp left.

Casts Cure Crit, mass again
4d8 + 16 ⇒ (5, 7, 2, 7) + 16 = 37 for both of us.
back to 178 hp :)

The main bad guy and the golems are all immune to magic.

Immunity to Magic (Ex) An iron golem is immune to spells or spell-like abilities that allow spell resistance. Certain spells and effects function differently against it, as noted below.

A magical attack that deals electricity damage slows an iron golem (as the slow spell) for 3 rounds, with no saving throw.

A magical attack that deals fire damage breaks any slow effect on the golem and heals 1 point of damage for each 3 points of damage the attack would otherwise deal. If the amount of healing would cause the golem to exceed its full normal hit points, it gains any excess as temporary hit points. An iron golem gets no saving throw against fire effects.

An iron golem is affected normally by rust attacks, such as those of a rust monster or a rusting grasp spell.

Unless of course there's something else going on...

Nope, sorry I missed that. What happens when I'm trying to do three things at once. Thanks for the catch. :)

The construct screamed in frustration. The iron golems slowly plodded their way across the room trying to close the gap between themselves and Ephebe, but not even coming close. The construct zoomed towards Ephebe it's spinning blades helping to propel it forward.

Blades:
1d20 + 40 ⇒ (6) + 40 = 46
1d100 ⇒ 70
1d20 + 40 ⇒ (13) + 40 = 53
1d100 ⇒ 19

1d100 ⇒ 21

Imagefemale weredragon (amethyst) gestalt Soulknife17/oracle10/divine gunslinger7

She was able to avoid one of the spinning blades and the electrical shock, but screamed as one of the blades bit deeply into her.

Damage:
2d6 + 12 ⇒ (3, 5) + 12 = 20
4d6 + 18 ⇒ (5, 2, 5, 6) + 18 = 36

She gritted her teeth, glad that Krays had healed her so much before this. She reached out to deliver another dose of rapidly moving time to this creature.

1d20 + 20 ⇒ (18) + 20 = 38
16d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 5, 1, 3, 1, 1, 6, 5, 4, 3, 4, 4, 1, 5, 5) = 52

Gears squeal, blades wobble, and large patches of rust form as the construct tries and fails to fight against the sudden ravages of time. A few smaller pieces break off and go clattering across the floor. While it still continues to function, it is in obvious need of serious repair now.

Male Elven (reincarnated - originally Human) Fighter 5 / Wizard 10 / Arcane Gunslinger 10 / Arcane Gunmaster 5

[*BEEP*BEEP*]

Tamrin looks down at his datapad bracer.

"....Oh that's just grand timing, Fivain."

He clicks something on the bracer, and sends a quick message to Aananda and Ryo.

"I just got a message from the Harbinger - we've got an inbound transfer, coming in hot. I need to go get them. Looks like an involuntary half-dragon in bad shape, so I'll 'port her to the Infirmary."

When his sons and entourage are back in the vicinity of the Infirmary, he teleports to the rendezvous site. Upon his arrival he sees a stasis pod with a young girl in it, unconscious. He gives the device a quick once-over, then sighs.

"Alright, sweetheart. You're gonna be okay. Let's just get you someplace where you can actually rest."

He teleports himself and his new charge directly to the Infirmary. "Nurse? We've got a special case here. She needs to be set up in ICU under isolation for the time being. Here's the pertinent data for getting her treatment started," as he hands over a datapad.

"Don't worry about a primary for her yet. I'm probably going to have to call in a specialist for her. That's all, thanks," as he dismisses her to get to work on wheeling Vai into ICU. The nurses say, they should be able to have her up an moving in a few hours with a nanite treatment.

Tam nods his thanks, then heads back to the workshop, and makes a call.

"Mordecai? I think I'm going to need you here for a special case..."

Ignoring the medical specialist part, this should get Vai into the story today - just after rollcall and things start to settle down, which makes more sense to my mind.

I'm running my department at work solo for the rest of the week, so I will probably be out of pocket until Monday. I'll try to check back if I can, but if I can't, everybody have a fun weekend of posting. :)

The golems continue to plod forward with no real hope of being able to catch up with the fighting soon.

The construct's gear sqeal and scream hideously as it lashes out at Ephebe again.

Spinning Blades:
1d20 + 40 ⇒ (4) + 40 = 44
1d100 ⇒ 65
1d20 + 40 ⇒ (1) + 40 = 41
1d100 ⇒ 36

Shocking touch:
1d20 + 35 ⇒ (2) + 35 = 37
1d100 ⇒ 42

That miss chance is killing this thing. Somewhat literally. She'd be dead three times over if it could freaking hit her. Poor construct. It's so confused. It doesn't understand why it can't dismantle this annoying meatbag. ;P

The first blade cuts into the flesh creature as it expected, but it wailed in frustration as the second blade and the electrical shock both missed. She was there. It knew she was there. It was aiming where the flesh creature was standing, but then when it was supposed to cut the flesh creature in half, it suddenly wasn't there.

Damage:
2d6 + 12 ⇒ (6, 1) + 12 = 19
4d6 + 18 ⇒ (5, 3, 3, 6) + 18 = 35

Imagefemale weredragon (amethyst) gestalt Soulknife17/oracle10/divine gunslinger7

Ephebe screamed again as the blade tore through her. She couldn't take a lot more of these hits, but the construct looked to be in worse shape than she was. Well, no point in not taking advantage of something that was clearly working. She reached out with another bubble of rapid time, hoping that would be enough to bring it down.

1d20 + 20 ⇒ (8) + 20 = 28
16d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 1, 4, 6, 1, 4, 2, 5, 6, 2, 4, 4, 3, 6, 6) = 61

The construct wobbled as the bolts that held its pieces together corroded almost away. But they still held for now. Knowing that she was likely to take more damage trying to step away, Ephebe drew out her chakram and tried to hit it in melee.

1d20 + 24 ⇒ (15) + 24 = 39
1d20 + 24 ⇒ (13) + 24 = 37
1d20 + 24 ⇒ (16) + 24 = 40
1d20 + 24 ⇒ (11) + 24 = 35

Damage:
1d6 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
4d8 ⇒ (4, 1, 6, 4) = 15
1d6 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
4d8 ⇒ (1, 6, 3, 4) = 14

The light went out in the construct's eyes as the fiery blades cut through its central processor. Its pieces came apart completely and went clattering away across the floor. Their summoner gone, the golems disappeared back to where they came from.

Ephebe blinked and looked around in disbelief.

"We won?"

"You sound surprised." Lysander's cold voice comes from behind them.

Male Kobold (Adult Black dragon) Gestalt Sorceror/Oracle Necromancer; Champion of Death

"Why of course we did, but you were the star here, I just helped out a bit. Well done!"
When Lysander appears, he doesn't seem to suprise him.
"Wow, good timing, Hunter.." He says dryly, then grins.

"Well met, Dragon." Lysander replies to Krays.

Male Kobold (Adult Black dragon) Gestalt Sorceror/Oracle Necromancer; Champion of Death

"You don't recognize my voice? Or are you just playing with me?"

"No, Krays, I do not recognize your voice since you aren't a kobold right now. Your scales though, I recognize them. I doubt Ephebe would be this close to a black dragon if it was not you."

Male Kobold (Adult Black dragon) Gestalt Sorceror/Oracle Necromancer; Champion of Death

"Ahh...good points all...wait, my voice is different? Well anyway, sadly it'll be back to koboldness in a few hours, I suppose. What brings you out here?"

Lysander opens his hand and lets the amulet from Ephebe hang from his finger.

"I came here to figure what this was supposed to mean." He explains calmly. "It's from Ephebe according to Ryo."

Male Kobold (Adult Black dragon) Gestalt Sorceror/Oracle Necromancer; Champion of Death

"I don't know anything about that, what's it do?"

"It's covered in mental protections as far as I can tell. I can understand the need for my little cousins to have their necklaces, but I've fought creatures with mental powers before, and I'm no weakling when it comes to willpower."

"But I want to know why mine has the symbol of Chronos on it."

Kalesril took the blows dismissively, he had been cut alot worse many times over and the pain had long ago stopped being a distraction. He found it odd how the same was not true for most fiends, the more powerful the more tender he had grown to think.
