"Thank you Karnog. If we're getting this drained on resources we should call it a day as soon as we can. Can't help anybody if we're dead."
Grimm Sharpest |
The dwarf blinked. How long had it been since he'd tasted fresh ale?
"Too damn long"
He thought to himself.
He continued to run the list of faces through his head- those who'd wronged him or his God and would soon die.
The Lord in Iron was not an evil deity. Just indifferent. Encompassing both the glorious and darker sides of battle. Exemplifying one honest truth.
It didn't matter if you were good or evil, man or woman, animal or beast. Ultimately when talk and negotiations failed- it always came down to who was willing to fight harder and dirtier.
That was why he was in his current predicament. Ambushed by alot of smaller, weaker creatures. I did not matter how strong, or powerful or how righteous or evil he was.
He been surrounded and overwhelmed by sheer numbers.
He'd killed at least a dozen but fatigue and injures took their toll and they kept on coming till the dwarf could no longer lift his sword.
The thought made him angry. As pompous as the paladin had been, as vain as that damn sorcerer was. He should not have left his allies. He had paid a price for his over confidence and he had dozens of new scars to prove it.
Gorum had not abandoned him. The god was testing him. He HAD SEEN that through the tortures and pain. For all the skill the mighty dwarf had earn he was NOTHING without the might of his god.
When the burning and slicing was at it's worse, the dwarf had called Gorum's name like a madman. The god had listened. For whatever reason, his captors had not killed him yet. Perhaps knowing the dwarf was Gorumite they thought he could be put to their uses?
How little they knew. Thee dwarf ran through the faces and images in his mind again.
Everything that had anything to do with his incarceration was was doing to die. They were his test. As soon has he had a weapon in his hand it would begin.
I will bathe in the blood of his enemies. Praise his blade.

With a little effort you can separated items and determine their worth's, the cure wands will come in handy with Karnog.
Des, Karnog,Kalim, malcolm and Feli can make an straight Intelligence check when you see the gear, DC15 + you remember these items belonged to Grimm, your former dwarf fighter.
Meanwhile the skeleton keys open a doorway to the cells wee the wretched prisoners are situated, a quick glance revel horrid conditions and access brutality inflicted on each man, and women, young and old. By a cursory look you see the tall tale signs of wicked torture on each person, Scarring, boils, flayed flesh, plucked out eyes, needled oh so many needle inserted. Evil simply because they could.

Looking around the young bard sighs." At least for a moment we have a moment of rest. Let´s make the best out of it. I am down to a few spells, but I still have lots of wands. Is anyone wounded? That at least we can mend."
Karnog Kegmeister |
1d20 + 0 ⇒ (5) + 0 = 5 Int
"I am glad these goblins have been destroyed, look at the ruin they have wrought upon these poor folk. Evil for no purpose other sick joy and laughs? This place really is a boil to be lanced and drained."
Looking through the collected equipment, Karnog pauses for a moment at the everfull mug and handy haversack.
"Curious, this."
Grimm Sharpest |
The dwarf continues to run through his list. He remembered the hobs who'd bought his symbol before him. Who'd DARED to try to burn it under his alkali flask and had used the rest on him. One of his judgements had allowed him to resist the damage.
That had scared the hobs.
They had seen him cast no spells or speak any words. But he was unburned.
The hob had shown fear amd hid it by beating the bound and chained dwarf.
That one dies first

You've used 3 lv one; 3 lv 2; and 2 lv two.
You've been on this level long enough to realize your god is not answering your prayers. You sense that Orcus has prevented that communication and is gloating at the pathetic cries for divine help.
Your scalp burns as your slaver captives have belted, tied and manacled you in the same small cell as two manacled ghasts. They've enjoyed tormenting you and occasionally they let it ghast bite you to paralyze you for while. Of course, you've managed destroy a few but they keep bringing new ones to replace any that you've killed.
This is how you've figured out that your tiara both warns when undead are near (which you previously knew) but also attracts them to you (which you did not know).
