Male Human Cavalier (Emissary)

Alright sorry for the delay, here's the alias with my character. I'm working on the backstory, I just wanted to get the stats up first.

Male Gnome Arcanist (Occultist)

Hey, thanks for posting! You're a welcome addition to the party, especially since you'll be standing in front of me distracting all of the bad guys while I wiggle my fingers.

I think I'm going to adjust my stat block to match yours. It matches the Paizo standard for monster and character entries, and I like it a lot better.

Male Human Hunter/1

Hey, its Shavaas, settled on a hunter. Here's the Alias with most the build in there. still need to find one more trait and fill in the rest of the basic adventuring gear.

Male Half-Orc Skald 1

Hey guys,

I got the PM with the links and whatnot. I really could go either way with the build, I thought I would throw them both out there and see which one you guys like better:

Lothar Lotharian, Skald:
Half-orc Skald (Totemic Skald) (Bear)

Lothar grew up in Rostland. While life there wasn't perfect, he knows that it could have been much worse if he'd had the misfortune to be a half-orc in a different kingdom. As a result he is a fervent patriot, both out of personal gratitude and because he believes that Brevoy's tolerant attitude toward all races is simply superior.

Like many young men, Lothar grew up wanting to learn how to fight. Rather than seek out formal instruction in the Aldori dueling schools, however, he spent much of his adolescence traveling with the barbarian tribes of Numeria. There he learned how to handle himself in combat. He also discovered his penchant for showmanship, a talent that eventually led the tribe to instruct him in the ways of their warrior-poets.

Lothar is interested in joining the expedition because he believes that preserving a balance between Rostland and Issia is the best way to avoid civil war. He also believes that the expedition will also lead to a stronger Brevoy. If it gives him a chance to establish fame and fortune in his own right, well, he's certainly not going to turn it down.

STR: 16
DEX: 14
CON: 14
INT: 10
WIS: 10
CHA: 14

Race traits: Sacred Tattoo, Shaman's Apprentice
Traits: Fate's favored, Deadeye, Rostlander

Feats:
1: Skald's Vigor

Skills:
Acrobatics 1 (6)
Perception 1 (4, 6 for sight-based)
Perform (sing) 1 (6)
Spellcraft 1 (4)

Appearance:
Lothar is, like many half-orcs, a big guy. The most notable feature of his face is that he is missing his left eye. He also bears an elaborate tattoo that covers most of the left side of his face. He wears his hair approximately shoulder-length. His beard is luxuriously full, engulfing the lower half of his face and subtly communicating to everybody he encounters that they are dealing with somebody who is their superior in his ability to generate facial hair.

Lothariel, Witch:
Elf Witch

Lothariel never fit in among his own people, in large part due to his fascination with sleep. He studied the subject of sleep and dreams for years, often to the exclusion of what other elves considered more useful fields of endeavor. When he did turn his attention to magical studies, he was intrigued by the wild magic of witches and shamans and attempted to discover the source of their power instead of pursuing the more structured arcane power wielded by wizards.

He traveled to Brevoy in part to escape the constant criticism of his peers. He also sought out information about the elvish ruins of the Stolen Lands, believing that elves who lived in close contact with the First World might have had an attachment to wild magic that mirrors his own. He found a welcoming home among the people of Restov, but is eager to join the expedition to seek out the lost knowledge hidden in the wilderness.

STR: 7
DEX: 16
CON: 12
INT: 19
WIS: 12
CHA: 9

Traits: Warrior of Old, Bruising Intellect, Pioneer (Perception)

Feat:
1: Extra Hex (Cackle)

Hexes:
1: Fortune

Skills:
Spellcraft 1 (8)
Knowledge (arcana) 1 (8)
Knowledge (nature) 1 (8)
Knowledge (planes) 1 (8)
Perception 1 (3)
Intimidate 1 (8)

Here's the comparison as I see it.

Lothar, Skald:

  • Reassuringly full beard.
  • Consistent buffing with Inspired Rage.
  • Melee presence.
  • Will eventually be able to turn into a bear that can still rock out.

Lothariel, Witch:

  • Unsettling metrosexual goatee.
  • Will eventually be able to attack people with goatee.
  • Strong buff (1 extended fight/day) and debuff with hexes.
  • Decent panoply of battlefield control witch spells, full progression spellcaster.

I'll roll with whichever one you guys would prefer to play with.

Are we shooting for any particular Friday to get started?

Male Gnome Arcanist (Occultist)

I have to go with the reassuringly full beard of Lothar Lotharian. Superior facial hair combined with a penchant for rocking out is much less unsettling than a creepy prehensile goatee.

Also I think the character is a more balanced build and will fit well into the party. With our number of summoned creatures and animal companions capable of benefiting from his songs I think he is the better all-around choice.

That said, that is only my vote so I will let the others weigh in, because I think either build would work fine. I just think the Skald would be better of the party in general and I like his theme better.

Male Human Cavalier (Emissary)

I'll second the Reassuringly full beard, I mean Skald.

Male Half-Orc Skald 1

Two out of three makes a majority, that works for me. Now the countdown begins towards my purchase of a lute of the battle ready (bass guitar edition).

Did you guys use a program to format your profiles, or just do it by hand?

Male Half-Orc Skald 1

All right, did the profile up as best I could. Please let me know if anything is missing.

Male Gnome Arcanist (Occultist)

I just pulled up a stat block for a similar character from a Pathfinder Adventure Path and filled in my abilities where they appeardd on the sheet. Yours looks reasonably good, but I will also give you access to a character sheet I have that makes building a complete character super easy. If you need help filling it in I will help with that as well. Just PM me with your gmail account and I'll share you on our character files folder so you can see our complete sheets.

Male Half-Orc Skald 1

I have herolabs so I can throw out a decent pdf character sheet pretty easily. The tricky part was converting it to text but the formatting wasn't too bad once I buckled down an did it.

Male Gnome Arcanist (Occultist)

That works! Once I share you on our character files folder you can just keep an updated PDF in that folder for the GM. It should be a lot easier than trying to update your alias every time we level or take damage ;-)

Male Half-Orc Skald 1

I thought things went pretty well yesterday, clutch werewolf charge and all. If you guys ever want to start earlier or add the occasional extra session I'll most likely be up for it.

Male Gnome Arcanist (Occultist)

We'll see how it goes. I think the primary issue with starting earlier is work. I work until 6PM on Fridays, then I have to fight traffic on the way home, make dinner and eat, clean up and get ready to play. Basically 7:30 is about the earliest I can start on a normal day.

Extra sessions might work though, depending on the availability of others. We can play it by ear.

Male Gnome Arcanist (Occultist)

Just a heads up to everyone, I cannot make the session this coming Friday. I have a friends/family dinner I have to go to for my girlfriend's birthday that night.

I am available Saturday any time after about 6pm, so if others are available that night we could potentially move the session back one day. Let me know if that works or doesn't work for you. I'll PM everyone as well just to make sure everyone gets the message.

Male Gnome Arcanist (Occultist)

Nevermind about Saturday. I guess that won't work for Shavaas. He has some stuff going on that evening, and works during the day.

I'm sorry about the short notice. I actually had this obligation since before we put the campaign together but I totally forgot about the family dinner on Friday.

I'll be able to schedule around the campaign starting next week.

Male Gnome Arcanist (Occultist)

Just confirming that we are good to go for Friday's game! Let me know by PM or e-mail if anything changes.

Male Half-Orc Skald 1

I'm in. Same time and roll20/chat, right?

Male Gnome Arcanist (Occultist)

Yep, same as always!
