Gob Smash One

Game Master Tacticslion

They be goblins, you be food... why are they so weird, dude?

That's what the W.D.G.F.F. (Western Duchy Goblin Fighting Force) first Reconnaissance and Strike Crew, aka "Gob Smash One" (that's you) have been sent to find out, in the barren mana wastes beyond the edge of the Duchy near the border of Geb in an ancient abandoned outpost called Hightower...

@Psi Yanno there is a great big mobile funeral pyre in front of you if you happened to want to pitch that head somewhere likely to ensure its destruction.
Sense motive(Shields): 1d20 ⇒ 9
Sense motive(Giant): 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (20) - 2 = 18 Shaken
Sense motive(Aid?): 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (11) - 2 = 9 Shaken

Talespinner: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14 Don't suppose I've heard tales of those shields before?

Schnorzel immediately turns to face the titan, obvious fear on her face at the dual threats of the mists which swirls just below her knees sapping her resolve and the looming titan hanging off the mesa.
With an obvious swallow of air, the furious goblin works past the concern of her mortal frame the world vibrating behind her eyes as she gazes on the face of a true avatar of destruction.

I-It was I.. The goblin states in a quiet voice the strength going out of her voice as she quavers on the edge of her own mind. The strength of her own convictions battling with the raw unyielding terror of having summoned a God slayer.
I have seen the terrors behind the walls, the one in front of me will not stop my resolve. I must make my request and hope it will not incinerate me as well. The tentacles goblin considers as portions of her mind war with each other. The victors in the cold vengeance of a scorned priestess and burning hate for the warping of her people drop kicking the gibbering fear and mortal concern for her life out of the equation.
"Gohl'ee-ath! It was I, Schnorzel, Ao Priestess and caller, that summoned your presence!"
The small creature shouts as her voice warps strangely, fleshy tendrils on her scalp weaving strange patterns while she draws another breath.
"I summon seeking one thing, the destruction of the Bloatfly's cursed hold on my people!
Even now his priest uses the creatures power to grasp onto the mortal plane when he should clearly not still be alive!
Grab hold of the powers which this charlatan would seek to use! Drag his hollowed, mewing coward of a I-g-o-b into the light to send it howling to never seek dominion over the Midori again!"

"BURN, GOHL'EE-ATH AND PURGE MY RACE OF THIS CORRUPTION VISITED ON IT, SO WE MIGHT STAND ON OUR OWN AGAIN!"

You ask what I have done? I have evened the field. By the tales told the Gohl'ee-ath is a great guardian of the Midori people suppsoed to be able to grant wishes. This one incinerate the Gohl'ee-ath and is as such the Gohl'ee-ath.
And if it is not so I pray my ancestors will grant me forgiveness for my failures some day.

I wanna see a magma titan punch the fly god in the face. (important facts.)
1. Schnorzel does not grasp what a Golarion God represents. As far as she can understand it even the Bloatfly should have a physical form capable of dying.
2. The Gohl'ee-ath is a guardian spirit of Midori kind (so said by Jakk and hoped to be correct desperately by Schnorzel)
3. In her experience of tales with spirits they are generally unhappy at getting bothered. The best option being to present your case as quickly as you can so they can accept or deny you quickly. Wasting a spirits time is a very good way to get incinerated or worse.
4. Schnorzel has not caught onto what is happening down below, nor the fact that there is a very good chance the original 'Schnorzel' body is actually still in that pit with the other goblins.
Lets see where this action takes us.

Ooze cackles with glee, he was so strong, the strongest of all goblins! He had ripped the head off of pus head with a scarf!

Now there were strange sheilds whirling around him, he tried a step forward but they moved to keep him centered.

His newfound pride in his strength of arm or his shiny floating protectors were forgotten in a moment, he saw himself, the inside of his spirit, it was standing in front of the she gob called Schnorzel. A massive being of fire, in the likeness of Ooze.

He ran over to it and called out both telepathically and verbally. "Yes! Minion! Avatar of Ooze! Mighty slayer of false gobs, and the scourges that are dogs and horses! I commend these infested evil beings into the fires of our shared soul! All shall look on Oozatar and despair! Hahaahahaaaa!"

Diplmacy(self delusion): 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (5) - 3 = 2

"SSSSssss!"hisses Vitreous. He is unsure what to make of the giant fire thing, hoping that Schnorzel has it under control. He mentals over some encouragement to her,"New goblin lady friend, that is a friends of yours right? You seem to have him under control. Good job. Does he eat snakes?"

Vitreous unable to really think about what to do with such a large flaming mess continues to smash columns, while trying not to hurt any of the prisoners.
"Can someone stop that ball of teeth from biting me, that sorta hurt?"

Layla attempts another coup-de-grace on the now-headless and paralyzed Jakk with her broken horsechopper, attempting to chop him in two halves, straight down the middle.

With Vitreous' aid, the lot of you succeed at passing the DC 45 Sense Motive Check. You may read those below, as you've succeeded on the check, or not, at your option.

Successful Sense Motive and Knowledge (arcana) on the Shields, due to Aid Another:
As it turns out, it looks like Ooze managed to succeed his charisma check, and claimed them as his own, for now. Also, you're reasonably certain they're an artifact.

Jakk merely stays, paralyzed and dead, as the four of toothy balls all gather around him. They seem to sing for a moment, a horribly screeching song of pure evil, and a tiny, bright red light, shoots forth from Jakk and into their mouths. The fifth remaining launches a furious bite at Sunny, but scrapes off of her very nice armor.

DC 17 Knowledge (the planes):
The four have just created soul gems from Jakk's deaths.

-------------------------

Sunny swings out her blades, and slices through the little ball of teeth cleanly and quickly with both of her blades, reducing it to a little pile of pieces. Unfortunately, however, one of her swords spits and hisses with the burning acid in its blood. One is still fine.

-------------------------

Shaedo heals herself and backs away, trying to help the prisoners, while furiously trying to figure out what was happening and what she faced.
As previously mentioned by Dijiron, the toothy creatures are Cacaodaemons - the weakest of daemon kind, but with the ability to devour the souls of the recently slain.

-------------------------

Though Jakk is still motionless, the four cacaodaemons swirl around for a moment, and take off like a shot toward the side of the mesa where no apparent foes are, but plenty of sacrifice victims reside...

-------------------------

Dijiron delves deeply into his mind, pinging the minds of all those on the mental network, and using their combined intellect, briefly, to reach some amazing realizations.

Those who use Spellcraft:
The giant creature was summoned by a combination of chaos magic and unbelievably powerful necromantic foci, using summon monster I magic - seemingly Schnorzel's - and transforming the spell it into a combination Greater Gate and True Reincarnate/New Life effects (each of these effectively 10th level spells).

You're more or less able to figure out that this creature isn't so much 'a' creature as it is the leftover parts of a few creatures: the giant on the table upstairs, a fire elemental (probably the one from before), and an epic dosage of chaos magic shoved through a necromantic lens.

Regardless, all of this resulted in creating a being who, frankly, probably shouldn't exist in this 'cycle' of realities (and, from its own words, seems to have come into existence before its set of time-space), but oh well, it's too early late for that now.

To be clear, the short version: created in a reality he never should have existed within; from creatures that were re-forged in necromancy, anarchy, and fire; this is an entity that really shouldn't be, is really far too powerful, and is pretty much capable of altering reality in ways that it shouldn't be. It's not, technically, a god, per se, at least not in the Golarion sense. Compared to third level creatures, or even 10th level creatures, however... it might as well be...

Frosty slams into Jakk two more times, causing frost to appear on the corpse!

-------------------------

Layla carefully cleaves the two haves of Jakk and kills him - again!

-------------------------

Ooze rushes up to the enormous thing, exulting in their shared souls!

To Ooze, it thunders, "MY SOUL IS ONE FROM TWO, NOT TWO FROM ONE, PUSTULATORY CRETINOUS FESTER! INFIDEL OF ALL, THE BRAND OF AVATAR OF FLAME UPON YOU!" What a large number of big words that you (may or may not) understand! Your avatar is so intelligent! Also - ow!

Ooze takes 30 points of nonlethal fire damage, as a powerful brand appears on his forehead. Once per day, Ooze may either use a project image or an enter image effect, that can (at your option with a given use) gain the benefits of a elemental body II spell, save you are limited to small size. This doesn't affect the other bonuses you gain. This otherwise functions as a magic tattoo in the headslot.

Ooze:
While the project image effect can normally only benefit from illusion effects, this is an exception to that rule, allowing Ooze's otherwise illusory form to gain very real and physical solid attacks and damage. The enter image benefits less from the elemental body (as the item has no ability scores to modify and cannot attack) but if, say, the image was being harmed by fire, you could increase the fire resistance beyond the item's base resistance, or could use a non-burning image of Ooze to suddenly set fire to something with the burn ability, for example.

DC 45 Sense Motive:
Translation: "Uh, we don't share a soul (and 'ew', by the way), but, yeah, sure, have a fiery avatar or whatever."

-------------------------

Stone cackles maniacally, and, for the squirrels, unleashes bolts of doom against the cacaodaemon he'd shot before! It collapses like a rock!

-------------------------

Vitreous smashes through more columns, carefully collecting the prisoners and keeping them on the mesa with his tail!

You have, startlingly enough, managed to smash all the columns in the nearest "batch" to where you are. Ceru and Sunny are working on the next 'nearest'. If Vitreous wants to continue smashing columns, he will have to start shoving his friends away, or leaving the Mesa-top to go around to the other side.

-------------------------

Ceru continues to correct another creature - and another slumps, exhausted (or dead), but no longer straining from the cursed runes on its head.

-------------------------

Psi-dish slams into Jakk with his axes, skillfully evading the blades while hammering them into the foe! He reaches down and picks up the head!

Psi-dish:
I had to composite your actions - you noted that you rushed into melee with Jakk, but made no attack. I'd previously rolled the attack for you, and determined your success. You then noted, later, that you picked up the head to throw it, noting that it 'probably takes two rounds' - I thought about it, and compiled the best suite of reactions.

Turning to Psi-dish, the mesa rumbles as the Gohl'ee-ath notes, "THIS **** WOULD DARE TO CLAIM AND ENSLAVE ME, WOULD DARE TO ATTEMPT TO PLACE ME AT HIS AND THE BLOTFLY'S COMMAND, SHOULD BE REMOVED FROM HER GRACE AND FROM THE GRACE OF ALL!" with which an enormous hand moves up, crashing through a number of the columns (and freeing the prisoners from the columns by incident as he does so) - harmlessly bowling over Ooze, Layla, Psi-dish, and Beylinda - and spilling green mists and water everywhere as they're broken... and, incidentally, lessening the flow of green mist and water to the goblins below.

The hand plucks the two corpse pieces so recently cloven in twain by Layla from behind Ooze, causing them to combust with crackling flames, the yellow electricity suddenly slamming into blue fire and issuing forth green mist.

The hand, carefully, flings it, burning, hundreds of feet away, to land with a sickening *splortch!* sound into the pool of blood, which itself begins to boil where the corpse falls. The entire mesa shudders with power, and energy floods the place.

The head nearly flies from Psi-dish's grasp, though he manages to hold on! He's reasonably certain that whatever direction he lets it go in, it'll go in!

DC 23 Spellcraft:
This is a powerful variant of a repel wood effect that, instead, is a repel Jakk effect from the Mesa.

DC 45 Sense Motive:
Translation: "Yeah, why not? The guy's a creep."

-------------------------

Beylinda cleanly and neatly assassinates Jakk's head held by Psi-dish, once again - running his other eye clean through.

-------------------------

Schnorzel steps forward and works to call forth aid from an ancient mythical guardian of her people, long since thought vanished!

Schnorzel:
I mention this based on something you'd noted elsewhere, though I'm not of the opinion that you necessarily wish to use it now. Do recall you still have the bowl full of gems, including the big blue one.

Schnorzel, on the shields:
Oh, you've heard of the legendary War-durs, but you've never actually seen them before. Generally speaking, they were considered lost to time and myth. Who or what they worked for, or what they represented was always a little obscure - it's almost like they had no true masters or real purpose behind them, simply showing up to guard whoever happened to claim them. One thing, however, is that those who didn't take the proper steps to protect themselves always found themselves without protection...

Schnorzel, and anyone else who succeeds DC 20 Sense Motive Check:
The Gohl'ee-ath is granting your wishes. Sort of.

It... doesn't seem to differentiate the nature of a 'wish' from the nature of 'generally expressed desire', and it doesn't necessarily grant something directly as-expressed; thus its success rate is a little 'iffy' - though it does seem to be doing things that, in the end, it believes will work out for what you're going for.

So far, it's granted one to Ooze, Psi-dish, and Schnorzel (see below).

-------------------------

Enormous eye looks at Schnorzel, the mesa trembles with his voice, "YOU DARE?! FOOLISH MIDORI!"

Vitreous, in the back of his mind, somewhere in the distance hears a distant coughing, gagging, pained sound in an otherwise lovely voice.

"I AM THE GOHL'EE-ATH, THE BOTFLY IS NOTHING TO ME!"

The terrible hacking ends, and a powerful gust of wind sheers from the eastern side of the cliff - where Gob Smash One had arrived from, as it roils around Vitreous, briefly, leaving a small, fluttering thing in its wake.

"YOU, SNAKE GOD, SHALL CARRY FORTH THIS TASK FOR ME!" it declares, as the small, fluttering thing lands on Viterous' enormous snake-like face, right between his eyes.

"YOU SHALL PURGE THE BOTFLY'S PLAGUE ON THIS WORLD, DESTROY HER CENTER OF WORSHIP, AND ELIMINATE HER CORRUPTION!" it declares. "THIS SHALL GO FAR IN YOUR FAVOR!"

DC 25 Perception:
There appears to be an exquisite silk Harrow Card, the Taskmaster, on Vitreous' face.

DC 45 Sense Motive:
Translation: "Yeah, sure, okay. I nominate the snake-god. Oh, by-the-by, snake-dude, I reward favors like this well."

Vitreous Exclusive:
You're to eliminate the plague, destroy this mesa (as well as any other center of the Blotfly's worship), and destroy her worship. In return, you'll be rewarded exceedingly well. It's worth noting, however, that, despite your success on the columns, 'destroying the mesa' isn't exactly within your capabilities, nor is 'eliminate the plague'. Hm. You'll have to look into that.

Information you begin to understand about the ritual will be coming in the next post.

Jakk Update: Killed six times, 333 damage dealt.

EDIT: for clarity and to fix a spoiler tag.

THE RITUAL

As previously stated, there are several working parts to the ritual.

    1) the disease
    - you have no innate method of curing disease; finding one could be a quest in and of itself.

    2) the captives
    - they are chained and are marked; currently Ceru is attempting to mark them differently; the columns are marked for each captive bound to them.
  • if undone, this directly weakens the power Jakk gains from the ritual; if all of the prisoners are fully "rescued" and marks "corrected", Jakk suffers terribly
  • "rescued": they are not only freed, but kept alive somehow, or returned to life
  • "freed": simply removed from the columns; there are lots of these now
  • "corrected" mark: the mark altered to something positive instead of negative; Ceru is currently doing this
  • "interrupted" mark: simply annulled mark instead of corrected; only a few have had this happen so far

    3) the goblins below
    - their meditation and trance is somehow integral to the entire process, though it's unclear how, exactly; you suspect that necromancy is being used to shunt their psyches into another world, similar to a phenomenally potent effect called astral projection, giving them new bodies in that other world, leaving those here completely unaffected by anything that happens over there... but leaving their minds only in one location. They are very far below, and thus unlikely to be easily reached and, even more dangerous, is the necromantic lightning eating away at their green mist (currently acting like a barrier, even as it taints them somehow).
  • hypothetically, preventing them from becoming undead is going to be the best idea; practically, it's improbable; each round of Jakk's inability to act, however, their total transformation is delayed (but not prevented)
  • it is worth noting that they may well be beyond salvation by this point: they may soon be completely consumed by the lightning and turned into hideous undead monstrosities

    4) the Mesa itself
    - it seems unlikely that you have any power to directly affect the Mesa itself, though you could break more columns like the snake is doing, one supposes. The green mist does not seem dangerous to most of you, though Psi-dish and Schnorzel each feel very uncomfortable around it; the latter actually witnessing that it was changing the midori earlier, though slowly
  • destroying the Mesa itself destroys the ability for the ritual to ever be performed again; good luck with that
  • the mesa and the lightning are two halves of a whole - only by negating the yellow necromantic lightning can one also truly destroy the power of the mesa.

    5) the pool of blood
    - this is so large it would be impossible to truly affect the blood meaningfully, but if you weren't so far away, it's possible that you could damage the bowl or something, possibly draining the blood or interrupting the smooth flow of energy somehow.
  • the more damage done to this, the less goblins will eventually be turned, and the weaker the lightning will be
  • the bowl is as much a source of the power as the blood is, for, while magically charged and collected, the blood not necessarily evil or destructive in and of itself - instead being transformative and regenerative -, but it is being used by the bowl, hence removing it from there will do wonders for weakening the ritual... but, uh, good luck with that

    6) the high priest
    - currently he has been killed several times and has taken a tremendous beating; he is not invulnerable, though he still seems to be alive, if paralyzed by Layla's attack - he likely will be for minutes. Additionally, he is beheaded and cloven in two, burned thoroughly, and dropped a long distance, whereupon he was boiled in blood. While it hasn't stopped the ritual, as a whole, it's certainly had significant impact on it, considering he's one focal point of the ritual. You're pretty sure both that killing him repeatedly before was beneficial (if painful to the prisoners) and that killing him more, from this point onward, will have no further effect: he's about as dead as he gets until you do something else.

    7) the mana well
    - you are currently in (apparently held in check exclusively by the green mist below) - no one has the power to alter this, that you know of. Certainly something on this scale would require godlike power, or more, and would be a task worthy of an entity or entities revered through the ages.

"Those teethballs are really beginning to bug me, and all the pillars on this side are smashed, well Ceru is busy with those ones. I think I'm going to show those teethballs what a teethtube is all about!"reports Vitreous to the mental link.

He then attacks a toothball.

attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15damage: 2d8 + 11 ⇒ (5, 6) + 11 = 22

MAP UPDATE

At present, there are three still-active tooth-balls near prisoners at the far side of the mesa. EDIT: And now, an angry Vitreous.

Beylinda, Frosty, Layla, and Psi-dish are still at the center of the Mesa, knocked down by the hand of the massive creature Schnorzel summoned. Psi-dish is currently holding Jakk's head, which is trying to aroint from the mesa with all haste due to the repulsion effect placed on the mesa by the enormous fire creature.

Ooze is in front of the fiery giant, on the southern edge, knocked down, and alive, damaged, but with a nifty new ability.

Shaedo is on the northern part of the mesa, working on freeing prisoners.

Ceru and Sunny are on the north eastern side of the mesa, freeing prisoners and changing runes.

Schnorzel is on the eastern side of the mesa, having summoned the Gohl'ee-ath, at the southern side of the mesa.

Vitreous (being ridden by Stone, Nuglet, and Dijiron) is stretched over the width of the Mesa, near the central-south facing the western side of it, to destroy the cacodaemons.

Upon receiving the above information about the ritual via the mental link and her own intuition, and upon looking up at the scary Burninator, Layla mentals the group and also shouts out loud in Common, (Perhaps making a wish?)
"We gotta stop this mana well of necromantic lightning or whatever from destroying everything! Can the Burninator do that?"

Looking directly at Psi-dish holding Jakk's severed head, Layla continues,
"Also, I don't know that we want Jakk's head to join his body in the pool of transformative, regenerative blood, ya think? Someone tell that thing holdin' Jakk's head not to chuck it in the pool of blood."
Edit for clarity: Upon Layla's initiative count, Psi-dish is still holding Jakk's head. Psi-Dish can't understand Layla's mental communication or her Common, and Layla knows it. She also has no idea what Psi-dish's name or gender is, Shaedo having simply referred to him as a scared, harmless creature, or something like that. Hence, Layla wants one of her allies to translate for her and refers to Psi-dish as "that thing holding Jakk's head." :)

Finally, as Layla stands up from prone, having been harmlessly bowled over by the Burninator's hand, she continues mentaling and speaking to her allies, even as she turns her attention to the three remaining nasty balls of teeth,
"And, Shaedo, how about a song of goodness and happy stuff to counter the nasty, evil, soul-stealing one?"

Layla then proceeds to chuck a chakram at the furthest daemon.

With an idea, a shadowy apparition bursts from his chest in his own likeness, turning to roiling air and wind, the air elemental shadow Ooze, flies from the Mesa, beelining to the blood bowl, when it arrives the air elemental Ooze, whirlwinds the blood, attempting to fling it out of the bowl.

Ooze, struggles to his feet, readying his bow.

Thanks, Djiron, for agreeing with me! The wizard knows, everyone! These Cacodaemons eat souls. Every person who dies feeds the ritual!

Shaedo looks at her rescued kitsune, and attempts to draw upon everything she knows to help fix up the mark on her fellow fox.

Shaedo's many many skills!:

Shaedo attempts to 'correct' the marks on her rescued kitsune's body, as well as to determine whether the fellow fox is alive or dead.

First, knowl-edge! Some of which, may be bard-ic!
Arcana: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18
Nature, to make the sign more natural, rather than unnatural?: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
Nature, to discern whether the poor foxy is alive or dead... both natural states, yes?: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
Local - hey, worth a try? We're in a weird other world!: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Religion: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
Planes: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19

Now for oth-er skiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiillzz! Yeah!
Linguistics: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Use Magic Device: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
Disable Device: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
Sleight of Hand: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22
Bluff... to deceive... the ritual..??: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21

If nothing out all of these works, Shaedo cries out to Ceru over the mental link for guidance in altering the marks.

Finally, Shaedo draws out her cure light, and carefully moves her kitsune next to the nearest pillar where another helpless captive is. She keeps a look out for falling pillar chuncks the whole while.

Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10
Stealth- cause always sneaking!: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (3) + 18 = 21

Aaawwww! Merely a 21.... Shaedo must be clumsy with all the skill foxin' around... gyak!

Schnorzel looks to the rest of the group eyebrow quirked and half a word on her lips before she closes them thinking better of it.
The number of sacrifices on this mesa are paltry to the number of midori below us. And if what has just been told relating to the ritual is correct they are all going to die. What, presumably, do you think that will do?
Schnorzel chooses to entirely ignore both the new creature pelting the Gohl'ee-ath with the head of Jakk along with the foolish golarion goblin attempting to.. Nope. nope that isn't alright.
Did you just shoot my people's guardian spirit?
The tentacled one asks over the mind connection with with equal parts venom and incredulity.
Looking to the spirit she coughs awkwardly "If you intend to incinerate him I would not beg his pardon great one. As to the other thing..."
The midori says as she takes in another great breath and starts back up on the speaking. She laughs once as the pressing fear of such closeness to a great being closes on her.
So this is what it is like, to stand on a mountain top holding a copper sword shouting defiance.

" Yes Burninator, I would dare to tell the Golh'ee-ath guardian of the Midori people and sacred spirit of our culture to do things that help the Midori."
She says with repressed irritation, fear and budding insanity as she dares to tell a creature out of myth to do her bidding. Doing her finest impression of granite as the closeness of the Green fog wears at her nerves.
"The pipes that were just destroyed vent a gas to the the base of the mesa. It prevents the lightning from affecting those below it. Below us the Midori lie, with their minds in another place, Jakks ritual is going to kill them if we are unable to stop the lightning which circles the mesa from blighting them. They will die, and become twisted beyond even what I have faced. I summoned your might as I have not the power to stop this myself Great one.
Please, help me. Stop the lightning so the Midori can live."

The midori pleads, a growing tremor in her voice as she eyes the cover of fog on the mesa rising higher. Stay away! stay away! I.. I can't plead with the Gohl'ee-ath gibbering on the mesa. Must stay strong for just a little while longer!
She shudders but returns her full attentions to the great spirit in front of her hoping to avoid further offense.

The lot of you succeed at passing the DC 45 Sense Motive Checks, including below, as your character will.

Jakk's head continues to remain unmoving - both eyes having been destroyed and flickering with necromantic lightning akin to that below, and being held by Psi-dish, despite trying to lauch itself... well, anywhere, really. Two of the cacodaemons begin gnawing on prisoners, ripping their throats out, the mesa shuddering with each death - a third uses its hideous and vile song, as a vile red light flies from one of the prisoners into its throat!

DC 17 Knowledge (the planes):
One has just created soul gems from the prisoner's death.

-------------------------

Sunny continues to work on saving the poor hostages, finally successful in releasing one from the column!

-------------------------

Shaedo working with Ceru and Sunny, Shaedo can quickly figure out how to "correct" the marks on the victims - and help Ceru do so faster, as well! She finally
With two successful checks, and the information gained, on each turn after this one (including Ceru's below), you may now affect 1d3+1 prisoners each. I'm going to hand-waive where, exactly, Ceru's tools are for the purposes of you guys in this fight. Consider any more attempts automatic successes, with Ceru's and Shaedo's previous successes.

-------------------------

Though Jakk is still motionless, the one of the cacaodaemons rips through another victim's throat, while the two not doing so activate their song of wickedness, causing red lights to leap forth from the deceased...

DC 17 Knowledge (the planes):
One has just created soul gems from the prisoner's death.

-------------------------

Dijiron continues to push his intellectual capabilities, steadying himself on Viterous' back, while commanding Frosty attack the cacodaemons. Frosty's fury is un-fortuitously frustrated by the furry toothballs' fast re-flexes!

-------------------------

Layla stands and hurls a chakram at one of the daemons, hitting it, and sinking directly into it, causing the creature to shreik in fury and pain! ... but not to go down.

Terrifyingly enough, the giant looks at Layla out of the corner of its eye, and flares briefly with fire.

-------------------------

Ooze rises with his bow, shakily, sending his newly minted avatar-state flying into the boiling blood bowl to withdraw the substance from the bowl! It... it starts to work!

-------------------------

Stone heroically leaps to the misguided defense of Layla at the command of Commander Eris (who he confused for Rainbow), and fires his crossbow bolts into the Gol'ee-ath!
Fortitude DC 17: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (9) + 17 = 26
Fortitude DC 17: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (18) + 17 = 35 This is not an accidental second roll.

The giant doesn't even seem to notice!

-------------------------

Vitreous is furious at the cacodaemons! He rushes toward them to destroy them!
... and misses!

-------------------------

Ceru continues to correct more creatures, with assistance from Sunny and Shaedo 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 - and each of which slumps, exhausted (or dead), but no longer straining from the cursed runes on their heads.

-------------------------

Psi-dish, terrified and apologizing flings Jakk's eyeless head directly at the burning Gol'ee-ath! It's a direct hit into it's 1d5 ⇒ 1 mouth!

The ground trembling at it's very sounds, "*GULP*! HURG! RAGH! WAH! BLEGH! HAR!"

DC 45 Sense Motive:
Translation: "Huh. Surprisingly tasty. Heh. 'Headcheese'."

-------------------------

Beylinda rushes toward the cacodaemons, attempting to stop their devouring of the souls of the innocent! Unfortunately, despite her skill, her blade swings wide!

-------------------------

Schnorzel steps forward and speaks her requests to the Gol'ee-ath!

-------------------------

Enormous eyes both lock onto Schnorzel, the mesa trembles with his voice, "THE BROKEN-PUNY SPEAKS BIG WORDS! FAILURE BECOMES HER THRICE AND SHE STILL DOTH LIVE NOW TWICE!"

DC 45 Sense Motive:
Translation: "Hey, gutsy, I kind of like you! But, uh, about that whole 'stopping the ritual' thing... here, have a prophecy or whatever..."

A strange rumbling sound occurs from below...

You are still shaken for 14 more rounds...

The daemons are now drawing power from those imprisoned by Jakk. Either help them or slay the daemons. They are not strong and can be taken out easily so be quick about it. Stone, stop being a fool and ignore the giant for now. There's nothing you can do.

Dijiron directs Frosty to strike the nearest Daemon.

He was sure that that would work, but now his allies were yelling at him to switch targets so he would have to put that puzzle aside for now. CLW: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

"Kallisti, could you perhaps pour some of this potion in someone's mouth?" She requests of her celestial fox friend, uncorking the bottle.

Then Shaedo says, and telepaths both, "Everyone, if we can get some of these wounded people on their feet, they could help us with the others! Oh, how I wish I could heal them faster, that I could make them all better right away!" She looks up at the great burning figure looming over the mesa and casting the scene in an orange glow.

She waves her arms and hops up and down, "Great one! Would you hear the wish of a little fox spirit? As you are, we are all eager to get away from this terrible place- and hopefully bring all of these lost souls with us! Fire is the essence of life- heat, energy! Could you perhaps use your incredible power, oh, Gohlee'ath, to restore all the victims here to life?"

Shaedo suddenly realizes she may be asking too much out of the blue, so with lowered, humble ears and nose, she cries out with mind and voice, "Surely for you this would be a small task! If you'd prefer to see me dance in your honor, could you make me move in great haste, so that I could get all these poor little people on their feet, and so that we may all leave this wretched place behind- together!"

Shaedo only waits a breath for the wish, and would adapt her actions in response to what the burninator does. However, her actions usual activity for the next several rounds, should the victims not suddenly spring to life, would be to follow Ceru and Sunny and heal the prisoners as Ceru and Sunny free them. Shaedo would then comfort them and pull them to their feet get them helping with freeing even more prisoners!

It motions to the rest of the group near the body of Jakk.

Next, we must remove the rest of the body. I shall employ the ancient ritualistic barganing technique of ages gone past.

With this, the blue-faced creature begins to ask a favor of the firey titan very nicely.

Powerful and mighty Gohlee'ath! Could you pretty please remove the rest of this hideous formerly horizontal-eyed creature from the general vicinity?

It then either begins to remove the corpse from the mesa on its own if told no, or makes its way over to the remaining cacodaemons to do poorly thought out combat.
I might even have him throw in a cherry on top if things get dire.

With Vitreous' aid, the lot of you succeed at passing the DC 45 Sense Motive Check on the giant, as well as all those below. By now, thanks to Dijiron, you all may read the DC 17 Knowledge (planes) spoiler as well.

-------------------------

Vitreous:
I'm sorry, my... Vitreous, the voice of Rainbow runs smoothly and gently through your head I can't hold it off any longer. I've tried. Try to avoid having your friends on the mesa, but stay there yourself, if possible.

You hear a distant coughing sound, before a gust of wind soars from somewhere in the east of the mesa, leaving a small something fluttering in the air...

The giant turns and an enormous column rises next to its face - a finger! It places this on the side of its nose, and with a Phfkfkff~! sound, a small charred something flies out of its nostril and lands in the blood far, far below.

Two of the cacodaemons rip more throats out, the mesa continuing to shudder with each death - once again the third uses its hideous and vile song, as a vile red light flies from one of the prisoners into its throat!

DC 17 Knowledge (the planes):
One has just created another soul gem from the prisoner's death. They seem to plan on continuing this pattern... this kind of sucks!

-------------------------

Sunny drags four unchained bodies to Ceru for faster fixing of their foreheads!

-------------------------

Shaedo heals a kitsune, looks at the Gol'ee-ath, and wishes for her friends and the prisoners to get away from this terrible place!
You heal the kitsune in front of you, but the creature does not awaken. Based on Layla's heal check, you're reasonably certain she cannot until the ritual is broken.

The enormous Gol'ee-ath stares terrifyingly at the very, very much smaller kitsune.
"BAH!! FOXY SPIRIT DANCE!! MIDORI!! TIME!!" it says, gesturing at Schnorzel, briefly.

DC 45 Sense Motive:
Translation: "Easy 'nough - done. Also, sure, I like dances or whatever, I guess. I make 'em gobbos do it, after all. Anyway, wait a sec."

-------------------------

Layla hurls a second chakram at the daemon she just hit, striking it a second time; despite the weakness of the hit, it definitely hurts, causing the creature to shriek in fury and pain! ... but it still does not go down.

-------------------------

Stone hops off of Vitreous, charging and tries to slam into a cacodaemon! Instead he slams into one of the columns and bounces off!

-------------------------

Ceru attempt to heal one of the creatures, but her wand isn't enough. With her help, though Layla finally understands: the state of the prisoners: dying, but slowly.

-------------------------

Psi-dish hops from Vitreous onto the mesa and swings his waraxechucks!

He swings! Though one slams into him you take 7 damage, the other slams into the cacodaemon!

-------------------------

Beylinda rushes to flank a cacodaemon with Layla, attempting to prevent them from devouring of the souls of the prisoners, or killing any more! Her blade slices through the creature, and she barely manages to fling off the burning blood as it screeches, but does not die, from her assault.

-------------------------

As it does so, the Gol'ee-ath leaps, and clings onto the top of the ceiling. The creature is enormous.

-------------------------

Vitreous lunges again, this time successfully chomping down on one of the little tooth balls! It squeals and writhes as his massive snaky fang pierces its hide, and burning blood boils
I had you attack the one Layla had already damaged.
Reflex: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23 Acid Damage: 2d8 ⇒ (3, 2) = 5 Ignores hardness.

Dexterity: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13

He... he swallows it!

It burns... but it burns so good!

Vitreous:
You are an outsider who has swallowed three soul gems created by the cacodaemons! This has three results!
- First: the souls are "condemned" (or, if you prefer, "destined") to become outsiders of your alignment when they die (currently chaotic neutral, or lawful good)! You may choose between the two and further adjust their fated alignment (and thus the kind of outsider they become) by one step!
- Second: you gain an optional temporary replacement for an ability score of your choice! This score is based on a number of d6s equal to the number of gems you've just ingested in a single round (three)! See below for details!
- Third: you gain fast healing 6, haste, and greater heroism for the next three rounds!

Optional: Replace an Ability Score: 3d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 6) = 18
You may replace an ability score with the rolled number. The new, increased ability score is temporary. The adjustment lasts for a number of days equal to the score.

Please hold off on declaring any further actions, yet.

Suddenly the most powerful blast of wind any of you have ever felt slams into you - and every other creature on the mesa, flooding the area with brilliant dazzling colors. You are all blinded, deafened, and stunned for a round, but see below. For everyone except Vitreous, there is a moment of movement, as if you are all suddenly thrown to the side (which, to be fair, you basically are), shunted off the south-east side of the mesa. The effect exceeds all of your CMBs by quite a fair margin. Vitreous, however, is too big, and is thus unaffected.

For a brief, shining, horrible, horrible moment, there's a sensation of floating very, very high up, before a lurching sensation starts pulling you downwards... rapidly. Oh, right. Gravity. That's why the floating was horrible - it couldn't last.

The speed with which you head toward the ground is sickening, but really, despite the very, very large distance, there's not too much you can do: it all happens too rapidly. And then you land, and everything kind of goes exceedingly bright, before suddenly going exceedingly dark.

Vitreous:
The fluttering thing lands on your nose.

You see your friends, Nuglet, and every sacrifice victim is suddenly flung off the side of the cliff, and thrown down into toward the pool of blood. There's a tremendous flash of energy, below, and the sound of an explosion. 1d3 ⇒ 1 Both of the living toothballs remain on the mesa, despite the destruction of the pillars and the eviction of all other creatures - almost as if they were purposefully excluded from the effect earlier - and all within your reach.

You can see your friends down below and, though they aren't moving, it's clear that they're actually fine.

Suddenly, the entire mesa begins to rumble and collapse all around you! It... it's an earthquake!

Please hold off on declaring any further actions, yet.
Your blindness, deafness, and stunned states wear off in the post below. You may act normally.

As the darkness fades, you each become aware of the fact that you're in a really burning-hot, sicky, coppery-smelling mess. Blood is pouring from the fractured and cracked side of the enormous bowl, spreading quickly around to the west, and pouring over the edge of the cliff, directly into the midori.

You become aware of a deep and terrible rumbling sound, and the entire cavern seems to be shaking, horribly - especially the mesa!

If this is an earthquake - and it seems to be - there is literally no where to run. You are, in truth, between a rock and a hard place - also a deep, deep chasm, and lot of open ground that could open up and swallow you, regardless of the direction you go!

All of the prisoners and dead cacodaemons are spread all around you, also covered in the blood.

GM:
??: 1d154 ⇒ 28
??: 1d154 ⇒ 146
??: 1d154 ⇒ 126
??: 1d154 ⇒ 151
??: 1d8 ⇒ 2

Everyone is hit with an extra-strength Heal, Remove Disease, Remove Curse, and Remove Fear effect.

The prisoners suddenly stagger awake, and those who were dead shudder as their bodies transform!

The kitsune becomes a halfling!
The ratfolk becomes a... a... thing!
The grippli and the svirfnebling both become... a different thing!
The dromite becomes... itself!

They gasp into wakefulness, along with the rest of the prisoners!

As the blood pours over the dead cacodaemons, they, too, begin to shudder and undergo a powerful transformation!

The corpses shudder and writhe as the weird energy once so strongly arcing between the necromantic lightning and the pool of blood weakens and is partially absorbed into their forms... causing streaks of the necromantic lightning to slam into them, and draw them into the arcing storm of necromancy, transforming them into creatures made of itself! You see their small sizes cavorting through the storm made of pure malevolence - malevolence that they are now a part of!

Check your initiative - you may now take/post actions.

Female Halfling Urban Ranger 3 | AC 19 T 13 FF 17 | HP 27/27 F+5 R+6 W+3 (+5 vs. Fear) | Init +6

Layla shouts/mentals in Common, as much for the benefit of herself and her allies as for the suddenly awakened former-ritual-victims...

"Okay, nobody panic! We're messing up the ritual that was gonna kill everyone here, so just stay calm and help us, okay?"

Intimidate, for leadership purposes: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23

Before deciding on her actual action, Layla mentals just her allies...

"So, what's the next thing we need to do to stop the ritual? Or, how do we get everyone out of here?"

Perception, to see what's going on with the ritual, and the daemons, and maybe Jakk, and possible escape routes: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28

Far enough to the south is nothing but cave wall. Far enough to the north you see what appears to be a large, but quickly narrowing potential passage. It's not going to be quick going to get everyone there.

NOTE: the four reincarnated prisoners no long have the rune on them at all. This does not count as "corrected", but it does count as "freed", "interrupted" and "rescued" for purposes of the ritual.

Female Halfling Urban Ranger 3 | AC 19 T 13 FF 17 | HP 27/27 F+5 R+6 W+3 (+5 vs. Fear) | Init +6

Layla adds mentally...

"There is what seems to be a passage in the far north cave wall. Is there more to do here, or should we be trying to evacuate people?"

Just checked with the GM for clarity...
Those of us who just got slammed down on the ground beside the broken blood bowl (which is pouring blood over us, but not hurting us)
include all of Gob Smash One except Vitreous
plus Schnorzel, Psi-Dish, and Nugglet
plus 40-some no-longer-chained still-runed former-prisoners
plus 4 reincarnated no-longer-chained-or-runed former-prisoners

As Stone is ejected off of the messa, there is only one thought in his mind...
Billow cape! Billow cape!!
not that it would help him at all at this distance, but at least now he would fall Majestically. His Regalia Device visible for all to see...
And now i fall like a stone :)
This will most likely be a double post as i process the massive and sudden changes :)
Extra question, did i lose my chance to get a wish from the Burninator? :(

They cacodemon corpse malevolence monsters--are they now background malevolence, or still hostile creatures that want to kill and eat us?

Female Kitsune (Small Variant) Ninja (Performing Trickster) 3 | AC (22) 18 T 13 FF 16 | HP 16/19 | F + 0 R + 4 W + 4 | Init + 4

Shaedo's reaction as she is tossed up into the air is to grab Kallisti close, hang on to the other kitsune, and then a deep breath, and...

"WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!"

Then tug, fall, "Uh, oh," she cries, more in excitement than in fear, then "YIIiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!!"

Upon landing, she mutters to her foxy companions. "Gravity is harsh mistress! Harsh indeedy!"

As the other kitsune suddenly transforms into a halfling, she whimpers slightly. "You don't have to hide your foxiness from me, my friend! I'm kitsune too!" Shaedo begins to reveal her true form, and then realizes, Oh yeah, I am already in my true form! "See!" She cries, striking a ta-da! pose.

Then, speaking gently, in good spirits to those around her, she begins to aid Layla in gathering the revivees for the big get away.

Diplomacy to ease panicky peoples: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15

We've done our damage, played our tricks, and had our fun! I say we skedaddle when the daddling's good!

Slowly picking herself up Sunny pats herself carefully down....

"I dun feel funny..." She looks about dazedly.....

Schnorzel, from discussion thread wrote:
Only addition is the blood bowl is leaking into the pit the Midori were meditating in.

Perception:1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12

"Oh...snap!" Sunny jolts more 'awake' and scampers over to see about helping the other peoples who look similar to her friend.

Vitreous ponders the situation, alone atop the mesa, mumbling to himself,"Is this enough to destroy the mesa? What about the plague, how do we fix that. Oh daemons are sorta tasty and have a pleasant burn."

Temp ability increase to intelligence!
attack another daemon: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15damage: 2d8 + 11 ⇒ (4, 2) + 11 = 17

KN:Engineering(Is the mesa going to collapse?: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17

After the bite attempt, Vitreous flies down to the party in the blood.

Having processed what just happened only in part, Psi-dish attempts to figure out three things:

1. Where the body of Jakk has gone now that the blood bowl is broken.

2. What the flak the newborn Blightning Elementals are gonna do.

3. If blood is the only thing running down its leg right now. Note that these actions assume Psi is next to the blood bowl. Except the last one.

In order:

perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21

perception aid another to layla: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15

perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
bluff to hide checking self: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (6) - 2 = 4

There are still people chained up... we should try to help them if we can... if we can't help them, though, then I think maybe getting out of here might be a good idea...

Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15

Island Elf 'Pugalist':1/"Almost Monk":1 |Perc:+7|HP:18/18|AC:14|T:15|FF:10|Fort:+1|Ref:+5|Will:+4|Init:+4

Sunny comes skidding to a stop at Ceru's mental update.

"Bugger..." Sunny exclaims, even as she turns about and scoots back to help free people, even going so far as to lift one or two of the dazed 'new comers' up and pushing them over so that they too can help out.
